While we have been enjoying all of Mika's recent concerts/festival appearances, a variety of problematic situations have arisen in the queues and among fans, including some violence, harassment, and bullying. We tried to address these issues in a recent Instagram Live. As we're approaching our 15 years (!! ) anniversary, we've started to make some changes on the site, to give it a fresh new look. Our goal is to make MFC more intuitive and make it easier to find things, also for newbies who might not be used to a forum structure. For now you may have noticed that we've reduced the number of sections in the "Mika Fan Club Info" part of the forum from 5 to 3. All the threads are still there, but basically we've combined About MFC and Announcements to one, and MFC Help and Suggestions to another section. Hey everybody, I've been told that the way we have our login set now poses a security issue and that we should change it. I wanted to give you a warning before I made the changes. Currently, when you login, you can use either your display name (for me that would "dcdeb") or your email address, plus your password. Apparently allowing the use of display names is the problem. According to the warning issued by our Tech Support people, "display names are public information and malicious users may attempt to login to multiple accounts with common passwords until they find an account for which the passwords work." Hey everybody! Just a little warning that we will be running a fairly big upgrade on the site later tonight. I plan to run the upgrade tonight and expect it will take a while, maybe several hours. During that time MFC will be offline, but we will try to keep everyone updated on our social media accounts, on Twitter and Facebook. Forum Guides are people who are regularly on the MFC and who are able to help new members find their way around the site. Hello everybody! Wanted to let you all know that we recently enabled Facebook login here on MikaFanClub.com. This means that you can log in to your MFC account using your Facebook profile. You can link your Facebook account to your MFC account by going into your MFC Account Settings. To do this, look at the upper right corner of your screen, where your little profile picture is. Click on the arrow to get the drop-down menu and select "Account Settings." In the left column, toward the bottom, you'll see the option to link your Facebook account. Super easy! It works great! So, I have been hearing and reading some things around the 'net -- on Twitter and Facebook and here and there -- and it seems that some people feel that the MIKA Fan Club has become obsolete, or that it's nothing special and that there's no point to it any more. What do you think? In my opinion, it doesn't cost anything to be a member, so why not join? So, we're due for another software upgrade -- it won't be a major one, like we had this past spring, but it will bring a number of enhancements, functions that will make the site easier/more fun to use, I hope! So... SURPRISE! Our software upgrad took place overnight last night! This was a surprise to me, as the last time I spoke to our Tech Support guys they said they wouldn't get to us until the middle of the week. Wish they had warned me, but... oh well, as the saying goes, it is what it is. (I hate that saying, btw!) Hello MFC! Wanted to give you all a little warning that we're going to be upgrading the site's software soon. We've been running an old version for a while, so it's time! With the upgrade, we expect some changes, both in appearance and in functionality. Initially, we are probably going to lose our current color scheme and our snazzy Mika slideshow that you see on the home page. But don't panic -- we'll get our "look" back as soon as we possibly can, with some improvements. Because we'll be upgrading, we will also have some new options and functions. Attention MFCers! This coming year will be the big 1-0! 10 years of Mika Fan Club! Can you believe it? 5 JANUARY 2017 marks the actual anniversary date of when MikaFanClub.com was launched. Several of you have written to us about what, if anything we are going to do this year to celebrate the big occasion. Given how important this is, we've been giving it lots of thought.
