View Full Version : Freddie Mercury's Anniversary

It's exactly 10 minutes until Freddie's 16th anniversary and as there are so many Queen fans on this forum, I figured I would start a topic of celebration for him! Please join me in raising a glass to celebrate the life that he lived. I am sure tears will be shed tomorrow, as well as a lot of smiles will be put on faces. The most important part is to remember the phenominal human being that Freddie was and to be thankful for all the wonderful gifts that he gave to all of his fans.

We miss you, darling, and admire you more and more with each day!

Amanda

PS.

I still love you!

message to Freddie:

I wish you were still around Freddie because the world needs you. I've loved you since I was a little girl and you had left this world already. You are eternally in our hearts and your star will forever shine through those of us who pass on your message of love.

I never really knew who he was. I eman i knew who he was obviously but nothing about him. Anyone care to share a biography?

mandilambi
24-11-2007, 06:00 AM
He was the lead singer of Queen - his music and lyrics were out of this world! A truly amazing singer/musician/man. He contracted AIDS, which led to his death in 1991. :(

Well, I knew all about that. I'm a big fan of queen :biggrin2: But I never really understand certain aspects about him.

I mean. What is his nationality and stuff. Hmm I'll just wiki him. Nevermind :biggrin2:

mandilambi
24-11-2007, 06:08 AM
He was born in Zanzibar and later moved to England with his family. :) But yeah, wiki is a good way to go! lol

I can't really explain why I adore him, there was always this sweetness to him...and this defiance... I just think he was tremendous! Most importantly, he was very humble.

I think he had a wife before he came out to her. The song "Love of my Life" is about her.

oh and he had a cat named Delilah lol... I remember that fact:roftl:

mandilambi
24-11-2007, 06:11 AM
Mary Austin was his girlfriend (or common-law wife lol) until about 1976-77. :)

Oh ok. is he gay? or is he both. or tri. is there even tri?

mandilambi
24-11-2007, 06:17 AM
There's some dispute as to whether or not he was gay or bi. Some people firmly believe he is one or the other. My personal opinion is that he was gay, while also having an extraordinary love for Mary that even they perhaps couldn't quite explain.

Then again, that's just my opinion. He was great, regardless of his sexual orientation. :)

Love Freddie!!!!!!!!!!! :wub2:
There'll never be another one like him.. they can try.. but they won't succeed to his greatness..

that's all i wanted to say!!

Oh ok. is he gay? or is he both. or tri. is there even tri?

hahaha, no, I'm sure he was deffinately gay, but for a long time he had a wife and they really did love each other very much. But he couldn't pretend forever, because towards the end, from about 1975, he started having boyfriends, so he eventually told Mary that he was gay. It's confusing... but yeah.

To Freddie: You are the most beautiful man I have ever seen, in every aspect. You can never be replaced by anybody, ever, and for that you will always be in our hearts. I love you.

But I'm pretty sure he was gay.
Have you all read Mercury and Me?

No....What is it? (apart from a book)

I've read Mercury and Me. Pretty good book. Some bits I liked, some bits I didn't. :)

mandilambi
24-11-2007, 06:39 AM
mercurygirl, it was written by Jim Hutton - Freddie's long-time partner.

Finkster
24-11-2007, 06:39 AM
No....What is it? (apart from a book)

It's about Freddie and Jim's love life, and Freddie's last years.
I never read it. I can never seem to find it...but I've heard it was pretty graphic.

I can remember two bits that I thought were graphic (as well as a little unnecessary). The last couple of chapters were horrible. You really got an understanding of what Freddie's last days were like. It took me forever to get through it as I was so tearful!

Not too fond of his mentionings of Mary, though it's difficult to know who to believe when you're not there experiencing everything.

Finkster
24-11-2007, 06:49 AM
I know. I think I read something online that really explained Freddie's last few months...I was balling. :tears:
Anything like that makes me a bit teary eyed, though. My uncle also died from AIDS a few years ago. I hate to think of anyone suffering the way those people do. Which is why I despise when ignorant kids make jokes and think AIDS and other illnesses like cancer and whatnot are funny. Thery're not funny. They're real and the suffering those people have to endure is really dreadful.

Omg, jess that's awful! I'm so sorry! I do an outreach programme with my school and when we go to children's homes I always get this sinking feeling, because most of them have AIDS. And as much as I hate thinking about it you find yourself wondering how many of them will be there next time you come back.....

It's okay. I know he's in a better place now.
I just hate thinking about all the pain those people go through. It's heart breaking. Especially in the cases of people who are so young, or who are born with it. It's heart breaking.
Aww, it's great that you do that! I would love to get involved with something like that.

I would like to believe that he now feels how tens of thousands of people remember him this day, so many years after his death.
I think he was more than a brilliant singer and songwriter. To me, he was the ultimate rock musician who lived to create music. There was nothing that could have deterred him from doing so. He considered music his profession (no rock/ pop/ jazz/ classical just MUSIC as it is) and was writing even on his death bed.

He must have been a great person and besides his talent, his dedication to his profession is also worth remembering. I hope I will live to see another musician with similar talent and attitude to follow his footsteps and not get deterred / caught up in stupid celebrity lifestyle on the way

Well, Freddie has been the best musician, artist, songwritten... He's been, he is and he will be always the best. His soul and his magic are still alive on his songs and his music. I'm sure there's no one in the whole world who doesn't know Freddie Mercury, even 10 years after his death.

Freddie, you will never die, because you live into everybody who loves you, and I'm sure, almost everybody loves and admires you...

We all miss you, but we are really grateful for all the things you gave us trhough your fantastic voice and music.

Thanks, Freddie! :punk:

Anyway...Freddie will always be remembered as the best voice of rock!!
I can't put down in words how much I admire him... He's my favourite singer...ever! :wub2:
I still remember to watch on the news that he died and I couldn't really believe (c'mon...he was great, he couldn't die, right?)...I was only 7, but I was already a fan (I "knew" all the lyrics from A Night At The Opera, even though I didn't speak english...:roftl: "mamma mia mamma mia..." )
Me and my brother used to watch "Live At Wembley" when we were kids...over and over again... I did the vocals and my brother the drums! (don't ask! :blush-anim-cl: )

Well...and that's it!
Long live Freddie and his voice!! :king:
