Mika attended the Hootenanny this New Year's Eve on BBC2!

Here are the links for the Hootenanny-versions of "Grace Kelly" (song written by singer/songwriter Mika - check him out here (http://www.mikafanclub.com/)), "Ain't got no life / I got Life" (from the musical 'Hair') and "Up Above My Head (I Hear Music In The Air)" (1940's gospel song originally recorded by Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Marie Knight - thank you Marianne and Scut Monkey):

I guess there are actually more of us that hear "Chicken" than those that claim he is just mispronouncing "ticket" as "chicket". :lmfao:
actually I should add it to my signature :bleh: :mf_rosetinted:
edit: done ^^

Here are the lyrics of the version Mika sings according to Scut Monkey:
Ain't got no home, ain't got no shoes
Ain't got no money, ain't got no class
Ain't got no skirts, ain't got no sweater
Ain't got no perfume, ain't got no bed
Ain't got no mind
Ain't got no mother, ain't got no culture
Ain't got no friends, ain't got no schoolin'
Ain't got no love, ain't got no chicken
Ain't got no name, ain't got no token
Ain't got no god
What have I got
Why am I alive anyway
Yeah, so what have I got
Nobody can take away
I got my hair, I got my head
I got my brains, I got my ears
I got my mouth, I got my smile
I got my soul
I got my smile
I got my tongue, I got my chin
I got my neck, I got my boobies
I got my heart, I got my soul
I got my back
I got my sex
I got my arms, I got my hands
I got my fingers, I got my legs
I got my feet, I got my toes
I got my liver
I got my blood
I got life, I got my freedom
I got life, I got my freedom
I got life
I got life
I got my freedom
The origins of the word Chicken are the following (just a short version): one night at the MFC, the Oldlings started talking about sex and as the use of this word increased rapidly, a modertor (*cough*Freddie*cough*) substituted "sex" with "chicken" the next day. here we are. :lmao: so if you see someone saying "no ckicken tonight", you know what it means :lmfao:
however, there is also a british commercial where the "chicken tonight" thing comes from:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZLkbCPPk6g&feature=related
Many of us understood the word "chicken" in mika's lyrics while some others claim that he just mispronounced the right word (which could have ben "ticket" (so "chicket")).
I wonder how many times we had to explain chicken since this performance :roftl: I tell my newbies from Switzerland about it when they join so they don't feel confused that much :naughty:
Now that I have an ipod nano that can read a video, I would love to have the no chicken video :roftl: in the right format. Would anyone have it pleaaaaaaaaaase????
Sorry to ask but I'm the dullest person when it's about technology...

scar them for life in the very moment they enter :lmao: but it's better for them to be well equipped with the "basic" knowledge before they are left on their own :naughty:
hehe, I like the thought :mf_rosetinted:
and, btw, I'm so in love with this commercial :wub2:

very stalky :naughty:
will download it now & watch it tomorrow because i need to go to bed :thumb_yello: thank you!!! :flowers2:
edit: ok, i already watched the first 3 minutes :naughty: - that "BOX"... it's actually also quite stalkerish, right? always standing next to our man. maybe there is an MFCer inside?
GREAT WORK, BABS!!!!
edit 2: ok, couldnt resist and watched all of it. who said that we are obsessive? i would have also watched the whole show just because mika was there (i also watched that stupid Wetten, dass... ? or TV Total because of him :sneaky2:) - and here it's great that no time is wasted with other people I neither know nor i'm interested in, so....
That David Tennant is the guy from Harry Potter, right?
yes, David Tennant played Barty Crouch Jnr in Harry Potter as well as being the current Dr Who. *sigh* David Tennant and John Simm at the same table. Loved them both in Dr Who, but loved John Simm better in Life on Mars. Brilliant show.

You know... I've watched (Bab's video) & listened (on my ipod) to this every day, several times a day, since new years and every single time I listen to it I love it more than the last time - if that's possible.
This is hands-down my favourite performance of his that I've ever seen.
Mika, you kicked butt with this!!! Congratulations!

I totally agree!! I think the same. I absolutely adore it, he nailed it.
His voice was great, his mannerisms during the song, the moves......EVERYTHING was perfect!!
I still watch it today and wonder where his talents end...

Wow Sara, I wrote that post two and a half months ago and I was so excited to see that someone resurrected this thread just now. So funny that it was you, and that you were quoting my post... lol.
What's even funnier is that it's still 100% true. I still listen to it almost every day, and love it just as much. It is without a doubt my favourite performance of his, and possibly my favourite performance of any artist, ever.
I don't know what it is about it... his voice was top notch that night and I love the sound of the big band behind him, but it's more than that. It's the way the passion, the sincerity, the sense of resilience, and the emotion come through in the song... it really touched me.
This is actually the only regret I have from the Kool Haus show... I was close enough to talk to him in the parking lot afterward but I guess when it came down to it I was a bit shy. I've heard people say they don't know what they'd talk to him about, and I'm not sure I would either, but if I ever get the opportunity again this is the one thing I'd want to let him know: I would want to tell him how much his version of that song meant to me.

That's what I read in the very first interview with him I ever came along (just out of boredom.. last February or so before I even knew one single song from him). Do you know if there is any interview where he says that? It was something like "You've been writing the songs, singing them, you play the piano, did the artwork - is there anything you CAN'T do?!?" - "Well, I can't cook."Hi Petra! :) Thank u so much for the MP3!
He said that in the AOL Winter Warmer interview, but I can't find it on the net anymore :(
