I have the soundtrack and can't stop listening to it...my favorites have to be The Worst Pies in London and A Little Priest....
The line of "some shepherd's pie peppered with actual shepherd on top" makes me giggle everytime....:naughty:
I hope Sweeney can give Johnny his long overdue award (though it doesn't matter much, he's been snubbed so many times:thumbdown: )
It kinda sucked.

Too dull, too dark (not in a good way but a "wtf this is supposed to be more fun" way), not humorous enough, no character development, had no heart or soul, no interest in any of the characters, Depp was boring, and seemed to be working against the lyrics rather than with them.
Visually lovely though.

Sweeny is a great film!
Blood and all, it was very whimsical and quite raw...in a fanciful way. Tim Burton is one of my absolute favorite directors... He chooses the best actors, or rather the most unique and character based!
Johnny was flawless... I actually feared him:shocked:
I left feeling a deep sense of just "WOW!"
So, if its bloodiness that disturbed people... he was called a deamon barber for a reason:naughty:

I am starting to get tired of Burton being so formulaic. Can he ever do anything that isn't dark? He uses the same sort of characters every time. One dark-haired, thin man; one dark-haired brunette; one extremely blonde woman with long hair. Oh, and all of them have to be pale-skinned and appear as though they're on death's door.
heineken22

it's true, though.
he needs to use someone besides Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

that's one of the things I love about tim actually...
I can always tell when I'm watching one of his movies because they're so specific and they have this element to them that no one else's movies have...
I just think he knows his stuff, and appeals to the people who want to imagine

Whereas I can agree that detail is nice, I also don't see the point in creating movies that seem to be the same each time. I'd love to see him do a movie that is completely different from all the movies he's done before. He has done that before and he could do it again just fine.
And just because I don't like how his movies are so similar does not mean I can't imagine. :)

I completely agree!
His movies always have this feel to them, and I love the dark, goth type feel to em. Edward scissorhands, nightmare, sweeney, corpse bride. And he still sometimes does a tad bit different stuff, even though they have the same feel to em, like charlie and the choc factory.
it's good to use some different actors sometimes, but honestly, I love johnny and helena in tim's movies. they always fit perfectly for his types of movies.
And of course It's pleasing to the eyeballs to see johnnayy heheh :naughty:

i've seen it twice, and my best friend has seen it 3 times!
we got kind of annoyed at the "johanna" song, so we started counting how many reprises anthony did. it seemed like every time he was bored... "i feel you johanna".
i loved the "by the sea" scene. the best part is when he's wearing that striped bathing suit :wub2: . and when the preacher asks if he wants to marry mrs. lovetts, and he just nods his head.

WOO HOO ... Johnny Depp has been nominated for an Oscar for 'Best Leading Actor' :woot_jump:
...and rightly so too, in my opinion !!
Myself and lovely hubby Kev (jesterkevin) went to see a preview last Friday and Sweeney Todd certainly lived up to our expectations, an absolutely stunning film!!
It's not often we see a film more than once at the cinema (we usually wait for the DVD for a second viewing if we like something) but we've booked up already to see this again next week :blush-anim-cl:
The casting and performances are perfect and it's visually breathtaking. Definitely the most enjoyable film we've seen in years.

A BLOODY MESS
http://www.nypost.com/seven/08272007/photos/pg6b.jpg
August 27, 2007 --
TIM BURTON has been told to tone down the gore in the
screen version of "Sweeney Todd:
The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," starring Johnny Depp.
The suits at Warner Bros. "became a tad squeamish when they
viewed grisly footage of blood splashing across the set as Depp
slits the throats of his customers," London's Daily Mail reports.
In another scene that has the studio on edge, a 10-year-old boy
feeds human body parts into a meat grinder to make meat pies.
The movie, co-starring Helena Bonham Carter and
Sacha Baron Cohen, opens in December.
