I thought it would be nice to dedicate a thread to each of Mika’s band, they are so fabulous and talented in their own right! :punk:

It will also help when they are lurking on the fanclub (because we all know they do!), to see all our wonderful comments about them! :groupwave:

Father, husband, guitarist. Live and love music. Been lucky so far to have worked with some great people and long may it continue. Been playing guitar since I was ten (think I would have mastered it by now!) Played with my Dad in pubs and clubs of Scotland when I was a nipper. I was always inspired by the fact that he had played the lead guitar riffs on "Where My Rosemary Goes" and "Yellow River".... two awesome Pop records in their day! In recent years I have toured and recorded with people such as The Swans, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Kristian Leontiou/ One Eskimo, and im am currently working with MIKA.

Another lovely "band members" thread!

I met and spoke with Marti outside The Cockpit after the gig last week (28th Feb) at Leeds, he is delightful and seemed very surprised that anyone would ask to have a photo taken with him!

I also loved his singing with Mika on "Over My Shoulder", lovely voice.

Congratulations to him and his wife on their forthcoming "happy event", all the best with the new baby Martin.

you're right, martin is BRILLIANT! i especially love him playing Holy Johnny (i so love that song!!), and the solo part during Over My Shoulder...oh and during Stuck in the Middle as well!

I totally agree with you -- the band is amazing, and Martin especially does an amazing job of keeping up with Mika!

Sadly, I didn't get to meet him on Tuesday in DC... will have to keep my hopes up for a fall US tour! :wink2:

I am truly in awe of Martin. He is a killer guitarist and vocalist. Mika is very lucky to have him, because Martin makes him sound really good. We always go on and on about Mika's high notes, but sometimes Martin sings even higher! Haha! His voice needs to stay healthy too, or the show just won't be the same.

I spoke with him for about 5 seconds after the LA show, and I was lucky enough to snag him for a pic. He looks a little distracted, oh well! I was very excited anyway, as you can probably tell by my ridiculous grin. Oh yeah, Cherisse is in it too. :naughty:

I'm in awe of Martin too!! (in case you didn't notice:naughty: ) and you're right, we're always talk about how talented Mika is, but let's talk about Martin! In Over My Shoulder he's simply great, he can use the voice bloody well!! not to mention how he plays the guitar! i love when there's his solo in OMS, and Holy Johnny..it's just him and Mika, wow!!:wub2:

Pity poor Martin Waugh, guitarist for Mika. On the live 'Love Today' he starts out on acoustic for the strongly strumming intro, then it's off and over his head and a roadie drops a Fender strat type onto him in time for some harmonic riffs, then as we enter the bridge it's time for guitar number 3, a big black Gibson type that lays down some fast funk barres. All in the course of one song and nobody appreciates the professionalism since all eyes are on Mika.

Anyone know of other guitarists changing instrument like this over the course of one song. Double headed axe's don't qualify.

me too! i always look when he changes the guitars, i noticed it during the first Mika's gig in Milano, since i was almost in front of Martin:wub2: and i remember i was quite impressed..

That's sorta the same with me except I really didn't get to talk to him. When I saw Mika in Chicago I was on Martin's side and actually caught myself watching Martin instead of Mika! He's just as fun to watch as Mika, in my opinion. He looks like he has so much fun! Plus, I was right in front of him so I think he looked down at me a lot just cause I was right there. Then after the show, the band was in a pretty big hurry to leave and this lady was hogging them, she took so many different pictures, I think the band was getting annoyed. Right before Luke got into the van, I got enough courage and hurried up and asked for a picture and he said sure. Mostly because a girl I was with pushed me forward 'cause I all I did was talk about how I wanted a picture with Luke, lol. I wanted Martin in it too but he was basically in the van. Then all of a sudden Martin yelled, "WHY NOT HAVE THE WHOLE BAND!" or something like that. So then I was surrounded by the whole band. Right then, a bunch of people ran into the picture and then Luke, I think was overwhelmed, said, "Uhh, sorry, we gotta go" and I didn't get my picture but I'm sure all those other people did. :thumbdown: :naughty: Anyway, once they all got into the van, I got pushed away and I think Luke felt bad and he waved toward me, I say toward because I'm not sure if it was at me, I'd like to think so, :bleh:, but I don't want to be presumptious.
