That e-mail is really just about the competition between the two forums, and in my opinion, this one is really the one that is official. It's really great to have someone that is related to him and telling us those things he's not planning to tell himself first or rathers to have another way to transmit them.
Really, thank you for telling us about the secret gig! There are some MFCers willing to go, for sure, and I hope they have a great time, I bet they will! And I hope the hints can really help them find where it is, because everyone's quite clueless now:roftl: But still, it's exciting!

Hi Perez,

It seems this person is a member of the old Mikasounds forum, the one that used to be linked off of www.mikasounds.com.

There's always been a bit of rivalry between that forum and this one, hence the animosity in her message.

There's also a bit of ruffled feathers from fans in other parts of the world who can't get to LA.

That said, I think most of us are grateful that MFC was told something would be happening first. Of course Mika can't please everyone every time, and we are grateful for the things that do happen. :thumb_yello:

This Mika forum was created by FANS for the FANS and was made in Feb 2007...so we have also been here for a very long time, just like the mikasounds one.

It's not our fault if this forum is more popular than Mika's one. Mika's forum IS an official forum, but WE are an official FAN Forum (so I've heard!)...yes we made a petition to become a official, but any perks we are given are a privilege and I know I don't want to abuse that. I joined this forum LONG before we were official, I love this forum purely for the people. Sure, the perks are nice, but it's not why I joined.

I mean, even you saying about going to LA, I can't go but I am ecstatic for the people who can! There's no bitchiness on my side and neither is there for the vast majority. Sure I can understand people may be slightly envious (I'd love there to be a secret gig over here that I could go to :naughty:) but I'm gonna cry or lose sleep over it, it's hardly the end of the world.

I remember ages ago there was a rift between here and Mikasounds, and I even went over there to try and make peace. They were quite friendly in response, and I can see where they're coming from, but anything that Mika (Or you, for that matter) decide to give us, is NOT down to us.

i have NEVER said he did anything wrong i was just trying to explain about the fact that there are other fans too. maybe i shouldn't have send an email because it's all interpretated the wrong way, but i'm only standing up for other fans . ok i read now that he didn't knew about the other forum but he could just have replied by telling me that , i don't understand how he directly takes this as an attack on him . is there anywhere in that email where you can find that ?

i we just could be one group , but the thing is some parts are preventing that to happen , and that's an attitute from some people. i don't know who they are because they are not brave enough to say who they are.

Now we have been told, before anyone else, that Mika will be doing a gig in LA next week, one open for MFCers to attend.
Things are starting to get going again, an album and a tour could be coming up.

i we just could be one group , but the thing is some parts are preventing that to happen , and that's an attitute from some people. i don't know who they are because they are not brave enough to say who they are.

I agree with this. I haven't been active for a while now. There wasn't that much news/excitement. Now there is, I love the idea of getting clues/riddles and trying to solve them even though I'm not going to LA. I'm just happy there's some news and people are getting excited again. That's why I'm sad to see there always has to be a downside to these things. I mean, the rivalry between mikasounds and mfc? Seriously, it's still going on?? And this is when it comes up again? When we get some exciting news?

I do find it hard to recall the details of finding this place but I recall that I joined Myspace the same weekend that I discovered Mika on TV and so searched for him on there, found his page then must have googled him and found both Mikasounds and the MFC..........I never went to the Mikasounds forum....ever!! I always looked at the main page for info and, of course, they had the album sampler on there which is where I first heard all of his music but the info was always patchy at best so it was the MFC that I turned to for finding stuff out.

I NEVER thought things would happen the way they did.....getting tickets to to two free gigs, one of them secret AND televised!!, appearing in his video, being on the televised documentary, going to the opening of the Art exhibtion, going to loads of gigs, including the last night of the world tour and then getting an invite to the party.......but where did I go when all of this stuff happened??????? The MFC!

I wouldn't have dreamt of being anywhere else! I'm not exactly popular on here but it's still feels like home for this MIKA fan!

Hi everybody
Im from the mikasounds forum which does still exist but has very few members. We are all mika fans and love him very much. I respect the fact that there is another forum and so many members. Its good for mika and good that we can all come here and be a part of it also.
I havent posted here much bit I was delighted to find a thread for Ireland and talked to people there who were very nice to me and welcomed me.
Can I just try and explain how I feel :
I joined mikasounds by finding the link on the album Life in cartoon motion. At the time I hadnt heard of Mfc as i had only just heard of Mika. I liked the forum and it has brought me a lot of happiness. Ive met some of the members and have made many friendships.
I guess we sometimes feel that because we are such a small group we feel that we have been lost and forgotton. Seeing as Mika is so kind to his fans we all really do get spoiled by him with regular blogs and all sorts! we all as fans wish that we could also hear things too and recieve notifications now and then.
Can you understand Im not being bitchy or jealous Im just trying to explain how as a fan I feel. Of course it would be nice to have a more active forum and have competitions and notifications.
Now I just want to explin one more thing. Patricia is my best friend. I met her through Mikasounds forum. she really is a very nice person and very kind. because of her many people have got to see mika. She has offered her home to many mika fans to stay with her whenever there is a gig in holland. I know that she didnt mean for her email to appear any way insulting.
Its cool that fans here get news feels like a special treat! I have nothing against that it makes us proud to be mika fans!

There are a few issues I'd like to clear here. I perfectly understand that the people on Mikasounds feel neglected, I understand what your we trying to say in this email of yours, but there are ways to say things. Complaining to Perez (who isn't Meeks, nor Meek's manager) and bashing the MFC behind our back was imo pushing it big time.

As far as I know, Mika hasn't promoted the MFC, has he? Do we see a nice flashing banner on his blog saying "joing mikafanclub.com"? I think not. Every member here has worked hard to make the MFC what it is now, posting news, posting pics, writing reports, welcoming newbies etc. So yeah, we worked hard to get Mika's recognition, and to have people like Perez telling us about these secret gigs and stuff. So when you start saying they're advantaging us over Mikasounds, I disagree, they're just using the easiest way they have to talk to M's hardcore fans, and wether you like it or not, it's the MFC, because we made it so.

Besides, accusing us of being intolerant while sending such a nasty email is a bit hypocritical... And it certainly won't ease the relationships between MFC and MS.

I do find it hard to recall the details of finding this place but I recall that I joined Myspace the same weekend that I discovered Mika on TV and so searched for him on there, found his page then must have googled him and found both Mikasounds and the MFC..........I never went to the Mikasounds forum....ever!! I always looked at the main page for info and, of course, they had the album sampler on there which is where I first heard all of his music but the info was always patchy at best so it was the MFC that I turned to for finding stuff out.

I NEVER thought things would happen the way they did.....getting tickets to to two free gigs, one of them secret AND televised!!, appearing in his video, being on the televised documentary, going to the opening of the Art exhibtion, going to loads of gigs, including the last night of the world tour and then getting an invite to the party.......but where did I go when all of this stuff happened??????? The MFC!

I wouldn't have dreamt of being anywhere else! I'm not exactly popular on here but it's still feels like home for this MIKA fan!

I get angry with so much that goes on in here............but I know I will never leave as it is THE place to be if you want all things Mika. :thumb_yello:

I thought it was only for press and friends of Mika's, I actually was thinking about trying to get a fake press ID with me from from Sweden but eventually I calmed down and settled with the day after the opening!:naughty:

I agree with this. I haven't been active for a while now. There wasn't that much news/excitement. Now there is, I love the idea of getting clues/riddles and trying to solve them even though I'm not going to LA. I'm just happy there's some news and people are getting excited again. That's why I'm sad to see there always has to be a downside to these things. I mean, the rivalry between mikasounds and mfc? Seriously, it's still going on?? And this is when it comes up again? When we get some exciting news?

Like Diana said, this forum and the info on it is very accessible... And even if it wasn't, the blog on mikasounds followed like what, a few hours later? I can understand some people are frustrated but I can't believe it always has to turn out this way.

Well I was happy to see clues- I thought it would be fun. (Though I have some sympathy with people wanting to book accomodation) All the whining that it wasn't somewhere else and "why doesn't he just tell us?" spoiled it. As for this latest excuse to be angry, Patricia's already said she emailed Perez before it went on the blog- so what's the big deal? Even if it had been after, she's entitled to her opinion- and it was a completely unselfish one, she is a regular member of MFC and so knew about the gig.

Posting her private email address was disgraceful. And it's not "nice" of Perez to tell us about the gig- unless we believe Mika would be happy to have no fans show up

Well said Kelzy. About time we call a spade a spade.
I find it ridiculously pathetic to bring all this already pathetic forum rivalry up, and incredibly bad form to involve Perez.
We are so privileged that he came here to give us this exclusive info,and that Mika is doing this, and what do we get? This pathetic 'we are also fans and we're left in the dark' line.
It's been repeated to saciety (in case it wasn't already obvious when the old mikasounds forum was cut off Mika's new site coinciding with him buying Mfc) that THIS IS HIS OFFICIAL FORUM, and anyone and everyone is welcome here.
If a handful (because that's how many we're talking about here) stubborn individuals decide that they will create this Matrix style resistance and deny reality and fight the current, then that's their choice but it doesn't justify them attacking others, or creating issues like these.
This sort of behaviour reflects bad on ALL fans,as Mika (or Perez in this case) can't tell the difference.
Sorry for the megapost but I feel really strongly about this.

Yeah guess it's all behind us, but as the paranoid creature I am, this has made me aware of what actually happens behind the scenes. **** knows how many whiny personal emails Mika gets everytime someone disagrees with something...I find that quite disturbing really, but I guess I'm just extremely naive that I didn't realize it before :doh:

jealousy is uber natural, and healthy to some extent. But imo there are 2 sorts of jealousy

1) you are jealous and blame yourself or fate for not being at the right place at the right time, but still feel happy for the lucky ones.
2) you are jealous and blame the whole world for not being lucky and you start being nasty with everyone, in particular those who were luckier than you.

As long as you remain in the 1st category, I guess it's pretty healthy :naughty:

Now I'm disagreeing with you Patricia- you thought he posted too exclusively?- who else would you contact? He's not a third party, he's the originating party. How often have I read "if you don't like what I said, why didn't you take it up privately?" You did, that's all.

Part of the problem seems to be that people can't trust Mikasounds (the blog/ website) for news. If Patricia had known there would only have been a four hour gap, and that there would be a prompt email out, (which there hasn't been- to me anyway) would she have complained to Perez? I like MFC, but not everyone likes chatting online, and it doesn't really function as a news update service for people who don't like reading pages of discussion/ random chat. That, I would say, is Mikasounds' function.

the thing that bugs me the most about what you did is how freely you were ready to discuss how it works in the "mika world". (whatever that means) and to perez at that! behind our backs. there is not 100 ways to interpret your email to perez. he read it the same way as we all did, except we knew what forums you were talking about. the people without a voice can find one if they want. that people sent you bad emails is not right either. but what you did is extremely hurtful.

There are a few issues I'd like to clear here. I perfectly understand that the people on Mikasounds feel neglected, I understand what your we trying to say in this email of yours, but there are ways to say things. Complaining to Perez (who isn't Meeks, nor Meek's manager) and bashing the MFC behind our back was imo pushing it big time.

As far as I know, Mika hasn't promoted the MFC, has he? Do we see a nice flashing banner on his blog saying "joing mikafanclub.com"? I think not. Every member here has worked hard to make the MFC what it is now, posting news, posting pics, writing reports, welcoming newbies etc. So yeah, we worked hard to get Mika's recognition, and to have people like Perez telling us about these secret gigs and stuff. So when you start saying they're advantaging us over Mikasounds, I disagree, they're just using the easiest way they have to talk to M's hardcore fans, and wether you like it or not, it's the MFC, because we made it so.

Besides, accusing us of being intolerant while sending such a nasty email is a bit hypocritical... And it certainly won't ease the relationships between MFC and MS.

It's impossibel for Mika to be in more than one place at once, and wherever he holds his gig, not everyone will be able to go.
But no one needs to be upset about it, because he WILL do a tour, and he WILL go to a lot of places, so more of us can see him again.
I remember reading, I think on one of his blogs ages ago, where he said that he would test out his new songs in a secret gig. I understand why he wants to do that. He wants to see how they will sound live, and see how people react to them. I think it's great that the MFC have been told about the gig, of course he could have posted it on mikasounds, but maybe he expects that people from mikasounds are also on the MFC.
But anyway, I hate to think that Mika's comeback is being tainted by some bad feelings from certain quarters, and I echo what some have already said on this thread. Perez has been brilliant! He's kept us informed, he has promoted Mika and stayed loyal to him! I absolutely love Perez!

Hi Lynn, I think I do understand what you are trying to say and I sympathize with your situation. I know a lot of MFCers would feel the same if the situations were reversed.

There has been a lack of understanding by many members of the social groups of Mika fans (MFC included) about how recognition and the distribution of perks, etc. works.

Every other artist distributes such perks through their fan club. It has nothing to do with where you choose to socialize with one another. I talk to Mika fans on MFC, on MSN, on Twitter and in real life. None of this interaction with other Mika fans entitles me to the perks that Mika distributes, exclusive information, etc.

The fan club is the fan club. Social forums are social forums. You want perks you join the fan club.

Unless Mika plans to do something completely unorthodox and just give out perks to random social groups instead of his own fan club, then everyone is just going to have to come to terms with that. Complaining to Perez is not going to change anything.

It would be nice if Mika communicated this directly and clearly to people but honestly I would expect at this point it is just common sense. The writing has been on the wall for a year.

Thank you for your understanding. I have never contacted perez but its true mika should really say something about all this confusion. For a long time now there has been questions about Mikasounds forum. It has been there and is the original forum but we never hear anything about its future?
If notifications or competitions are posted here of course that is fine and its great! We too can come here and participate in everything. I guess the main problem with Mikasounds forum is lack of recognition or information. At present there is a lot of spam being posted there and no mod. It really is an issue that Mika needs to address. In saying that he is indeed very busy at the moment with a lot more important issues!

I doubt he created it. I'm not saying this situation is exactly the same,but Katy Perry's official site also had a forum and she herself never read it or did anything to keep it alive and prefered the unofficial forum. I'm NOT saying it's the same with Mika.

Another thing why I think MFC hears those things sooner is because the MFC is huge and MS rather small. The advantage of a huge fanclub is that more fans can be reached, even though they barely post or anything, while there is only a selective club on MS forum. I'm not saying being a small forum is a bad thing, but the situation is kind of understandable then don't you agree?:wink2:

jealousy is uber natural, and healthy to some extent. But imo there are 2 sorts of jealousy

1) you are jealous and blame yourself or fate for not being at the right place at the right time, but still feel happy for the lucky ones.
2) you are jealous and blame the whole world for not being lucky and you start being nasty with everyone, in particular those who were luckier than you.

As long as you remain in the 1st category, I guess it's pretty healthy :naughty:



Look I think Perez was pretty upset last night, and he probably didn't realize he was posting the full email. It can happen when you're a bit irritated. second i want to say i was trying to explain perez something about how alot of people feel on that forum. i wasn't personally attacking anyone!

then i think it's rude to post a personal email on a forum i even said i wanted to explain if he doesn't know what is going on. he could have just asked me because it wasn't meant the way everybody is reading it now.


i said that our forum is pushed aside and thats how it is. and i understand that happens by a big website like this , but thats not the point.

It's a bit unfair, but that's what I think most members of mikasounds will have to do in the end. So well said that I couldn't agree more. I hate the whole MFC vs. MS thing. I come here if I want infos and go there if I want to talk to close friends.

Im glad you all understand where Im coming from about the Mikasounds forum. Believe me its a relief! I have contacted alexandra many times about the forum but she says mika wants to keep it secret but has always told me we will be happy and not disappointed. So I guess we just have to wait!

We're all Mika fans. Just the fact that Perez posted this on here first should not be the reason for a huge war against the forums. It's not worth it. The whole "We're official!" "No, WE'RE official!" thing has gone too far. I just don't understand. When Mika will post new tourdates and release dates everyone will find out the same time. What's the big deal? He doesn't love us more than he loves all his other fans. We get that. But as Mika would sing: Point the finger and place the blame, it's not necessary. We shouldn't find and just enjoy the music and our favourite artist: Mika.

You're right there are more important things going on in life than message board drama. I don't let these things bother me on a personal level although as a mod it can be a bit of a headache at times. :naughty:

Ok you may not have seen the original thread, but Fred and the mods keep reiterating that we are the official fan club forum. No one seems to want to take their word for it and I don't understand why not.

Because it's hard to understand "official" when it doesn't mean "acknowledged". There's no signposting from Mika's website or Myspace. And so far as I'm aware, gigs are only official when they're on Myspace, not on here.

Besides we're 99.9% forum (The 0.1% fanclub being the comp prizes) There's no newsletter or newspage, it's really hard to pick out news from the chat. And surely keeping news updated (for non-chatterers) is one of the main functions of a fanclub site? Getting exclusive posts from the star is another fanclub norm. We don't, with any regularity- that's Mikasounds.

This isn't a complaint about MFC as a site or a suggestion that the mods work even harder and produce a newsletter!* But I'm not surprised non-MFCers are confused. I still am!

I know this is a completely different topic, but since I’ve felt the need to expose it many times before, I’m taking this opportunity to do so :wink2:

As I explained at my first ever post here, I registered on this forum in order not to have problems at gigs in the future, as I realized non-MFCers in general don’t have it easy to even get a good spot at the front no matter how early they start queuing or the number on their hands, and that’s just an example…

It is also true that I’m enjoying the experience and that I actually think there are very nice people here (as well as not-so-very-nice people, that’s life :thumb_yello:)

I’ve been expectant ever since last summer to see how things will happen next time, trying to convince myself everything will be ok, but to be honest, as the moment gets nearer (in case I can make it to attend a gig, of course :blink:), I feel more and more worried about it.

I cannot help fearing unfairness. If tickets are to be distributed by MFC, I suspect favoritism will probably take place on who gets them. Contacts and string-pulling is natural in everyday life (we know a lot about that in Spain, unfortunately :thumbdown:), but should be strongly avoided in an upright organization like this, and I’m not sure if that’s going to be the case, quite honestly. I really hope so, but wouldn’t blindly bet on it.

And I’d rather not try to figure out about potential M&Gs…

Why would you fear this when it was explained to you ad nauseam how the Madrid meet and greet worked? No members of MFC who requested to attend the meet and greet by the deadline were not given the opportunity to go. If any Mika fans missed that opportunity, favouritism by the administrators of this forum is certainly not to blame but simply their own lack of participation in what goes on here where the information was freely available to them.

Scarcity is going to create situations where not everyone who wants something will get it but we are not working in isolation here. Mika communicates what he wants through his management and no we're not going to go against his wishes to simply benefit ourselves and our friends.

First of all I'd like to say I admire Perez's honesty. I appreciate the fact he came on here first to tell us about it. We MFCers may have strange reactions but usually it's all in good fun.

Now I want to get to the point as I am rather shocked by the fact that this all occured. It shouldn't have. I understand the MS forum feels a bit pushed aside by the MFC, but there is no need to blackmail the MFC just because of this. No we're not the only fans of Mika and there are less vocal fans as well. But the MS forum doesn't have silent fans. So I think you're talking about the wrong group here as you post your love for Mika as much as we do. BUT this is not about us being the only fans, this is about the fact that we've heard it first as I am sure most of the MS forum members wouldn't be able to go themselves anyway. It's pure jealousy and I'm actually kind of hurt. We're being pointed at as the big bad wolf that's swallowing the little animals which is completely unfair. I'm not saying the MS forum is a bad place, but there is a reason why MFC is bigger. We're more updated etc. etc. I joined the MS forum 2 years ago and it was as dead as a stone and I joined the MFC and I never went away. The people here are lovely, we're one close community, we're always updated and supportive of Mika no matter what. Yes we can be critical and yes we're not always: OH MIKA WE LUVVLES UUUU when we disagree with him on something. But I only think that's healthy. We support him no matter what, all the members here and I can't express how it disgusts me that this happened. And you could say we have no right to speak because we're the lucky ones in this case, but seriously this jealousy must STOP.

ok, I know you talked about that few hours ago but I wanted to react. Maybe my reaction isn't appropriate because I'm not a hard core Mfcer.

I think it's very sad to read such stories while we just had some wonderfull news...
I know that the whole rivality stories lats since long time ago.
I belong to the french forum, the Mikawebsite for the one who know it. There were many rivalities with this forum too, at the beginning.

At first, I didn't find the interest to register on the MFC but with the time, I understood that MFC is the biggest community of fans so I had to be part of this. Even if I don't post very often, I come here several times a week to check what happen because for me, this is the official fan club (the proof with this last story of secret gig and Perez). There are many forums in many countries (in France, there are at least 3 with big rivalities too...) but the Mfc is the Mfc... I don't know if I'm clear but we all know, on the other forums that the Mfc is so important. After that, everybody has to feel free to join or not.

But me, I'm feeling very good to belong to 2 forums : the French one which is my home because I know all the people, because I spend my time on it and I love it and there is the MFc. Indeed, many members of the MWS belong to the MFC too...

Everyone has to find his own balance but no one can blame the Mfc to be what it is... It's like that, so you have the choice to be part of this and get all the informations very quickly, or not.

Freddie is right, we have to be one... because we all love Mika.

I think oficially we can only be one.. Of course this fan club can have many divergent forums, and I belong to another fan club too, the portuguese one of course. But I'm proud too to belong to both, because on one side, the portuguese is like my home aswell, where I get to talk my language, and I'm closer with the members there, but I love it here too. I wouldn't think it'd be proper to get this kind of news on first hand in ALL the fan clubs, because it would just be really confuse, and I think all the forums and fanclubs converge here, and that's the good thing of it. I understand that mikasounds was the first, but this one is the big guy right now, more seen as official, with a better structure, and the members of mikasounds will have to change if they intend to keep up to date. They can register and still be quiet, and go to the other forum they prefer!
And I find somethings that were said in that e-mail were unfair and it's backstabbing as many previously said it.
And it's not Perez that's going to sort this rivalry, so I think the e-mail was really useless...

Thanks Deb. This is how I see it and I'm confident that this is how it's going to be in the future.

If my French was better I would be interested in MWS and if I had been able to get an account I would have been posting on Mikasounds forum as well. No one on MFC wants to do away with the other social groups nor do they want to deny anyone else who's been a loyal fan to Mika the same things MFC (as a social group) has gotten.

MFC is going to be the place to come for certain things (perks, information, etc.) and everyone is welcome to be a part of that. You don't need to participate a lot in the social aspects of the forum in order to be a member here so these complaints that other forums do not get the same perks are not warranted. That's just not how these things work.
