sorry the title of the thread meant to say "What Do You Guys Think Of The New Songs", sorry from my dyslexic errors
Just thought i'd create a new thread on what you guys think of all new songs and snippets of the album Mika has give us,
OK i'll go first
Toy Boy - Love this song and the lyrics are kind of serious but funny a dark way also i'd love to play this on keyboard/piano
Blame It On The Girls (Clapping Song) - Again Brilliant song and from what i've heard from the studio version and the live acoustic version i can see this song really growing on me
Blue Eyes - Can't hear much of the lyrics, but the melody sounds really sweet, in fact it if i didn't know any better it sounds like a love song, but i could be wrong cus i can't heard the lyrics clearly but overall it's a really sweet song
Rain - Rain has really developed since Parc Des Princes and the snippet of the Studio version sounds great i'm really interested in hearing the studio version in full, cus it sounds amazing
The Andre Gospel Choir Song - Again i can't wait to hear this one, it sounds amazing from what i've heard, i'm also interested into finding out the lyrics to this one cus you can hear the choir singing " ????? when your young and you want some" and because i can hear that it's got me thinking that this song is touching on a very interesting subject in good old Mika style:punk:
The Disney Inspired Song - I'm really interested and excited to how this song will turn out, i loved the snippet he played, from what i can hear i'm gonna really like this song
The 1920's Inspired song - Bascially the same as the disney one, i loved what i heard and i just cannot wait to hear the end result
Good Gone Girl - I left this one last cus i I f**king love this song, it's sssooo catchy all the way through i CANNOT WAIT to hear the studio version, i can't hear the lyrics and i can't wait to find out what they are cus i'll be singing them aaalll day. AMAZING !!! SONG !!!
well that's my review, so what do you guys think ???
oh btw, please note that the new songs played live recently may be acoustic versions, we'vehave not heard the studio versions in full yet, oooo i'll exploding with excitment !!!:punk:
and thank you very much to the guys who uploaded the videos they recorded, thank you, thank you, thank you !!!
all i can say right now is that I LOVE ALL OF THEM!
and i can't wait to get a clear album version of each one. :wub2:

Rain- i really liked the 'old' version, but the newer version he showed with the violin sounds amazing!!! i luv the change he made to the tune too =)
Toy Boy- i LOVE the way he sings the first 2 lines...especially when his voice goes all deep! :wub2:
Good Gone Girl- Out of the 4 new songs sung yday, this was the one i liked the best too! i immdiately got into it!!!!! Very catchy, and im sure the real version would sound MUCH better!
BUT....
Blame it on the girls- When i heard it on his vlog i was like 'what????'
but i really luv it now! Its been in my head for the whole freaking day!!! Well, not the whole song, but the bit he showed us on his vlog. Another amazing song!!!

..same with me, but for me it's not only the lyrics. to me they go together with the melody and make me conclude that Toy Boy is the best song he has ever written (from the ones I have heard already)

News sounds are just perfect, my fav being Toy Boy, best lyrics ever written!!!
yes! TOY BOY is amazing!:wub2:
it's also my fav. lyric wise( as if we know the other songs lyrics:lmfao:, of course i wouldn't have an idea of something i don't know:roftl:)
Good Gone Girl - Clearly the one I like most, very catchy and seems to really work well live. Really looking forward to a studio version so I can hear what he says, I'm just catching random words here and there and they don't fit together very well :naughty:
Toy Boy - clever lyrics and catchy tune, think I like the fact that I got to see a video of this one before hearing the studio version, as his facial expressions really suit the lyrics :mf_rosetinted:
Blue Eyes - ARGH hated it at first, but I'm starting to quite like it, even though it does make me wanna start line dancing or something like that :cowboy: Maybe that could be the new trend instead of the ballroom dancing :naughty:
Blame It On The Girls - don't get this one, think you have to be there clapping along to catch the feeling. Don't really like the parts of lyrics I've been able to catch - probably not gonna be my favourite even in studio version, didn't like what I heard in the vlog either :blush-anim-cl:

I loved it, too
very theatrical performance ... reminded me of Rufus a bit, but only the performace.

My 2 cents...
I kind of like the overall feel of his new album... at least the few samples that we heared either from his vlogs or the secret gig...
I feel he kept the same feel as LICM... same style.. he almost mirrored the formula in his first album's songs.. and I emphasize on the word formula as I see a HUGE similarity in the way the music has been selected and the style of each song in comparison to LICM...
Boy Toy and Billy Brown are both nursery rhyme type of songs in the style of the music ... but with very controversial lyrics (at least in the eyes of people who want to interpret every word and deduct conclusions) ... both sweet and entertaining.. and am sure will bring both interest and smiles ... it's Mika's way of teasing and mixing an innocent melody with "interesting" lyrics.. :)
Blame It On The Girls (Clapping Song) - I like it...very much like Love Today... very dance, happy cheerful song with high notes at times and melodic tunes at times... all in all I think people will find it difficult to stand still when hearing it... this has a great formula for a summer success - wish he would release it as a single this summer... like an intro to his album...
Blue Eyes - sweet... in the acoustic version the guitar is very dominant... which is not very common in his style in the first album... so I can not link it to a mirrored version of any of his current songs as I don't have the musical ear to analyse notes.. maybe if I hear it with piano and full production/mixed I would have a better opinion... but all in all it is pleasant though the quality of all recordings that I have heard so far is very poor so not much to say about lyrics...
Rain - oh well, I like it when I heard it in a low tone... am not a huge fan of his high notes on this song specifically .. .that being said... I know many people are huge fans of this song.. and it can be catchy.. time will tell... and eventually will find out how he recorded it and at what level he sang it..
so happy for all the ones that were able to attend the secret gig.. and thanks for the lovely posts, videos and pics...
:thumb_yello:
I love the songs, even though cannot make out the lyrics on most of them:wink2:
Blame it is my fav:thumb_yello:

Toy Boy is definitly my favorite song. Maybe that´s also because the performance of this song was so energetic. I also like the new version of Rain. The melody was already nice in the old version, but the lyrics weren´t finished. Many sentences got repeated. From what I´ve heard, this song is going to be a hit!
It´s sad we have to waiit soooo long for the new album. I´m so excited and curious about it!

Toy Boy - Love this song and the lyrics are kind of serious but funny a dark way also i'd love to play this on keyboard/piano
That is the EASIEST song to play :naughty: I'm rubbish at learning songs by ear and I picked that one up with just 2 listens.
Oh and I get the 'O What a World' comparison thing... They're not at all similar yet they are so alike...if that makes sense. Think you have to be a big fan of both of them to get it though maybe?

LOVE, LOVE LOVE Toy Boy.
I think its musical GENIUS. I absolutly adore it..such dark lyrics with so many possible meanings, really, it reads like a poem and it just has an other worldy quality that takes me on a ride whenever I listen to it.
that and I can't get it out of my head...
love the others as well, but man does that one stand out to me.
Blue eyes as well. Beautiful chorus. the words...I'm still trying to get a good clear view of them :D but its so lilting and lovely!!!

Blue Eyes - ARGH hated it at first, but I'm starting to quite like it, even though it does make me wanna start line dancing or something like that :cowboy: Maybe that could be the new trend instead of the ballroom dancing :naughty:
Well... at first I felt I was committing sacrilege... 'cause I liked Blue Eyes just a little tiny bit. :naughty: I still don't like it like the others at all (I loooove the others and think are brilliant!!!!), 'cause there's something about the lyrics or the music, I dunno, that makes me feel Blue Eyes is not really MIKA, I feel it's.. what's the word... too plain, maybe. I'm not saying it's bad, but "flavourless".

Toy Boy and Blame it on the Girls were my favourites by far, but I know that it will be different to hear the recorded versions vs. hearing them live. He was VERY interactive with us for Blame it on the Girls - in a SITM kind of way - so it was tons of fun to have that energy going back and forth between him and the audience. I think he was also thrilled to be able to generate so much audience participation on a song we were hearing for the first time... it spells good things for the song's future!
Toy Boy was incredible live, because you could tell how much it meant to him and how he was really hoping to get a good reaction (which he did). In my mind it was obvious that was the song that meant the most to him to be well received. He put out a lot of emotion and energy with every word, and delivered each line very purposefully. It was also so good to hear it before anyone knew the lyrics, so that you could really hear it the way he wants it to be heard, without other random voices singing along. .Like he said "I don't mean to be a d*ck but please be quiet - this one's all about the lyrics".
Good Girl Gone and Blue Eyes were good, but to me they were just ok in comparison to Blame it and TB. I might have a totally different reaction when I hear the recorded versions and also have the lyrics in front of me, but I didn't get as excited about them. I find it really interesting that so many of you loved Good Girl Gone though! Maybe I should take another listen.

I am already addicted to good Gone Girl! This one should be the first single imo! I know the videos from the concert are not so clear and they have been removed now, but I have enjoyed listening to all the songs.
So GGG is my favourite one of all up to now. It is absolutely fantastic and would make a great summer hit!
Toy Boy is very funny and the tune is great. What I love about this one the most though, is the fact that it's set lower than many songs Mika sings. People need to know how unique Mika's voice is in any key and any octave! This song proves that his voical range is the greatest vocal range on the planet, because those low notes sound so gorgeous!
Blame It On The Girls is another catchy song like GGG. Its obviously the clap clap song from the vlog! It is really good with the flamenco beat. Another great dance tune.
Blue Eyes. Well I couldn't hear that very well, but the hook was really lovely. Actually, that's what is so great about Mika's work. His hooks are so catchy, you get them right away! I think Blue eyes will be a favourite on the album and yes, it does seem like a love song.
Rain was not played at the gig, but I think the improvements to it on the vlog are great. I think it will be a wonderful song on the album.
I'm looking forward to hearing the other songs from the vlogs. The album is going to be great!

I think Good Girl Gone can be an easy No 1 but Blame it on the Girls has a '9 -week No 1' potential..

And when he started singing that song it sounded a bit off or something.

I haven't read this thread comepletely, so I'm not sure if this point has been brought up already but...
I think the Disney inspired song where he talks about Cinderella and how imitated the birds with the flutes, is Toy Boy.
OMG I'm right!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just watched to the video blog again where he plays it and if you turn your sound up you can hear him start to sing "she's the meanest hag..." then you see him click something to turn it off. :groupwave:

I really like the new songs..I was ready to NOT like them, if you understand what I mean..I wanted to like them for the right reasons not just because I felt I SHOULD like them, so I was so relieved when I did genuinely enjoy them first time of hearing!:wub2:
Toy Boy..mesmerising performance, and I can see what Zoots means about him really wanting that song to make an impression at the gig. Great lyrics, almost certainly his best to date, and sweet melody. He does that innocent/dark/ happy/sad thing so perfectly! You are laughing one minute..then when he sings 'now he's so afraid of me' it literally brings a tear to your eye!! That's true artistic talent :wub2:. And it IS definitely the cinderella song from the vlog, I'm intrigued to hear the album version in full now!
Blame it: I really liked the vlog snippet of this, but for some reason the full live version just didn't quite click for me..even though I actually have it in my head right now :naughty: and I am sure the album version will be better, and make perfect sense! Still a good song though.
Blue Eyes: Love the verse, and the latino feel (or is it lovers rock? or country? I can't make my mind up!), not so keen on the chorus, but choruses are overrated in my opinion :mf_rosetinted::naughty: see Rain :bleh:
Good Gone Girl: left this till last because, although at FIRST it wasn't my favourite, it now is, and I am completely convinced it will be the first single and a HUGE hit this summer!! It has at least three distinct hooks in it, interesting lyrics (though indistinct so far) and the feel good factor, and it rolls along in a Grace Kelly sort of way. This could be his next GK!
8.5 out of 10

first;
i'm in LOVE with toy boy. i originally didnt think much of the disney feel but together - i can't see it as a no-1 but i can see it as my favorite song for a long time to come.
blame it on the girls - heck, that song could do well. i agree live didnt do it justice but i believe the recorded version will be phunkay.
rain - beautiful. :wub2: i love that song too. not much to add on rain - its catchy, beautiful, i see it as the next 'relax take it easy'.
blue eyes. um. my opinion on this song is still very um. but i haven't heard much of it so i dunno
and good gone girl.. i dont get what the hype is, i don't see anything special in that song, but thta quite possibly due to the recording i've heard is crap. but i'm gonna go see if i can hear a better recording.

You, know I love all the songs...though you can't hear much of the lyrics:naughty: , but I want to listen for the n'th time LICM these days and try to figure out whether the songs have gotten any better...I read somewhere that they're not so Mikaish anymore and I don't want to believe that  so I guess I just need my LICM to think clearly...:blush-anim-cl: in my opinion...he has somehow got to a higher level...he clearly feels better on stage, more free, and he looks very confident.
The clapping song reminds me of Lollipop, Good Gone Girl reminds me of Big Girl or Stuck in the middle, Toy Boy obviously about Billy Brown, Rain about Relax and Blue eyes it's a first to be honest...nothing like what he has previously done...it sounds like a vacation song something...:naughty:
that's pretty much what I think...probably it sounds really Mikaish and nothing more after all...
A bientot,

I agree that Toy Boy is brilliant -- lyrically interesting, as well as musically.
And I also agree that it is the Disney/Kurt Weill tune he played the snippets
of in the vlog. I think it's going to sound unbelievable with the full
orchestration. Will it ever be a single? Doubt it, as the lyrics are rather
dodgy, just like Billy Brown. But will it be a fan favorite? Undoubtedly.
Blue Eyes initially struck me as missing something, but the more I've
listened to it, the more it's grown on me. I really love the lyrics on this,
and watching Mika's face as he sings "sorrow is so peculiar, one day it
comes and it never leaves you..." well, the expression made me sit up
and pay more attention to the lyrics. Yes, it's definitely grown on me.
Good Gone Girl is a great tune, I'm just bothered by the title, the
order of the words :naughty: It's the obsessive-compulsive in me, maybe,
but the words in that order do not make sense to me -- Girl Gone Good
I get. Good Girl Gone I get. Good Gone Girl I don't get. However, that said,
the tune is catchy and I can imagine it as a hit single blasting from my
radio -- I have always loved a song with a lot of "oooh ooohs" in the chorus!
:thumb_yello:
Finally -- Blame it on the Girls. There aren't enough words to express how
much I love this song. I got really excited when I heard that little snippet
in the vlog, and hearing the entire thing -- well, I just love it. As I've
said elsewhere, it is stuck in my head, just like Grace Kelly was a few years
ago when I began this whole crazy Mika ride. I love the lyrics, I love
thinking about what the lyrics mean, I love the clapping, I love the piano,
I love the way Mika moves when he's playing it *gush gush gush gush gush*
I just love the song. Love it. :wub2:
As for Rain, I was a little disappointed not to hear it from the gig, but I'm
very anxious to heare the album version! Can't wait to hear the entire
album in fact -- can NOT believe we have to wait until the fall. BUT it
does sound like we will have something new (an EP) in the interim, so that
will help, for sure.

I just had to quote this post, as I absolutely could have not written it better myself.
Your post expresses EXACTLY how I felt about the new songs, and particularly about ToyBoy. I am SO SO SO obsessed with that song already!
The way the mellody goes, his voice changing tones all the time, his facial expressions, the way he's playing with the lyrics...It's pure genius :mf_lustslow:.
My third favourite is Blue Eyes, which I love, cause it sounds a bit Bob Dylanesque, and I must admit that Good Gone Girl does absolutely nothing for me.
I don't find it bad, at all, but it just didn't grip me at the gig or when I watch the videos. Not sure why that is, but I just don't 'get' it, and I hope that this is one of the ones that he is changing a little.
Toy Boy is very funny and the tune is great. What I love about this one the most though, is the fact that it's set lower than many songs Mika sings. Yes, I absolutely agree 100%. This is probably one of the reasons why I love this song so much: we hear the beautiful Mika voice that we miss otherwise when he focuses solely on falsetto (which IMO was a bit too present on LICM)
A bit of falsetto I find ok, but a lot is just boring and tiresome.
Goodness I can't wait for the rest now :roftl:. I'm SO fookin excited!!

just now I'm most fascinated by Toy Boy, but this is partly due to the fact that the sound quality from the video footage can't really do the other songs justice (no offense meant! it's not the fault of any of you who filmed, it's just for technical reasons).
Just as Mika said, Toy Boy is wonderfully suited for acoustic gigs, very clear and easy to understand (acoustically). Its perfect comedy, enables him to sit at the piano and still play with the audience. All the Oh's and Ah's and the laughs from the audience show how well it works as a story-telling song, he makes you see pictures (innocent and not so innocent ones) while he's leading you through the scenes, making sure that you don't drift off too far by adding a new twist every few lines.
In a way this song does not only tell the story of a 'wonderful plaything', the song itself actually IS a wonderful plaything. Well done :kachinga:
I'm looking forward to Mika's drawings of Toy Boy, he'll be a wonderful add to the world of 'Mika charakters', hand in hand with Lollipop Girl, Billy Brown and the rest of the lot :wub2:

Yes I think Mika should do more low songs. He's got a lower register to die for. If you listen to toy Boy, there are parts where he goes really low, yet those notes are as clear as any others. His high falsetto makes my spine tinglw, and his lower register makes me melt! How amazing is our Mika?
I'm also glad that he's doing the accustic gigs, because it's ALL about his voice and his music, with no other technology, or distractions.

I didn't doubt Mika's new music for a second. I was a little scared before hearing the new songs because I was so used to and in love with his first album that I had no idea what to expect for these new songs.
They blew me away, I still get goosebumps. Even after hearing them about 19 times each.
I knew Mika wouldn't let us down :)

Ok, after further listens to Good Gone Girl, I think that I know what it is.
I like the song, except for the bridge. Also, during the gig I found that the drums were waaaaay too loud for this song, so you could hardly hear him sing, and that made it lose a lot of the magic. Basically, the music was drowning the singing.
Oh, and I also found that his singing during the bridge felt a bit too 'rushed', like he was in a hurry or something, and not paying enough attention to the words or feeling the music and the song.
I suppose that, as I'm being critical, I could also say that I don't quite like the "Her name was Georgia and she was gorgeous" part. I really find it way too simplistic, and think that Mika could come up with something A LOT better than that.
So that is my verdict :naughty:

I agree with Sara about the Georgia part. But he tweet and said there were lyrics scrapped and changed, so maybe that part is changed aswell? Let's be hopeful, and otherwise..otherwise we just need to live with it:naughty:

My command of the forums hasn't improved one iota  ...
I was peacefully browsing them when I came across a new thread started by a male MFCer -good from time to time to see pants among so many miniskirts- to tell one another what we thought of the new songs.
Guess what ? I've lost trace of it  !
So I am using this thread, not exactly off topic and who knows, a charitable mod will perhaps use her magic wand to move my post to the place it belongs :wink2: ?
'Toy boy' touched me deeply.
It's so typical : poignant lyrics on happy music. That hasn't changed, even if what we have heard so far may have surprised us but in a very positive way. Still we were expecting to be surprised in a very positive way so it's not really a surprise... am I making sense  ?

Watching your video of this song I can totally understand where you're coming from on this one. In the version I managed to download before it was removed the lyrics are unintelligible, but in your video it is almost impossible to even hear him singing over the rest of the things going on. I'm looking forward to a version where we can actually hear the lyrics!

Maybe the 'noise' of the instruments is worse depending on where in the room one is located? Although I do find it strange that I didn't find the same problem with other songs, though I was in the same place. How strange

After the gig, all I could think of was Toy Boy and Blame it on the Girls... but Blue Eyes is REALLY growing on me. I love it. Still can't get interested in Good Gone Girl yet though... maybe I'll change my mind when I hear the recording.
Blue eyes makes me want to be barefoot on a sailboat with a pina colada and a cool breeze in the air.

My feelings??? Thank you asking.
I really don't like any of his new music. Maybe I'm going to have to warm up to it in time....
Or maybe it's finally time to get off the Mika train...
haha, mika is brilliant!! I love all of his new songs!!
Toy Boy_ I adored it, What can i say?? I heard the lyrics but was a little confused by the meaning though. . . .any one have any ideas??
The Clap Clap song was sooo catchy, and the chorus was brilliant!!
I didn't understand any of Good Girl Gone. It's making me really sad, because I love the melody but can't attach any meaning to it!!! Again, if anyone has any thoughts, please, please, PLEASE, fill ,me in.
Oh I love Mika, and I can't wait for his new album to come out!! His new songs are WAY different than LICM, but still how can you not love it!?!?!?!? : ))

Well I have listened to the 4 new ones he played at the Roxy and I at first I liked GGG best, and being fair I haven't hardly listened to the others properly because I got obsessed with TB, and funnily enough I left this one till last to listen to cos the title put me off, but when I saw him singing and saw his facial expressions, and got into the lyrics meanings (and boy it has meanings on many levels).
I just put it in a totally different league to the others, I adore the melody it works for me on all levels this song it's just AWESOME!
I was never keen on Rain, it's ok but I always preferred HMDYLM and some of the other ones he wont be putting on this album :(
So now I need to try to get into the other ones a bit more which is hard when I love TB so much. I ought to listen to BE a bit more too lol, the clapping one doesn't grab me as yet too.
I've tested the songs on my daughter and the only one she likes is GGG, she thinks the rest are really boring :boxed: The only word she caught from Toy Boy was Barbie :naughty: Guess it's really not very interesting if you don't understand the lyrics :boxed:

...It has taken me a while to get myself to writing about new songs as there are so many things - images and melodies - flying around in my head but I have to do it now otherwise I will never take the time to do so..
My first thought is that the new album will be even more sophisticated both in terms of lyrics and music. You put together the bits you catch from his vlog, the Roxy performance of the new songs and the new instrumentation of the old songs and you understand that this guy is working hard on getting better and better... He is a fighter and I have strong confidence in not only the quality but also the success of the follow up of LICM.
On new songs:
Blue Eyes: not a single type, but it has a nice groove and it has a new sound vs Mika’s previous works (as Blue Eyes pointed out, a bit Paul Simon’ish... sorry for comparisons, they are deliberate, though, I usually look for points of comparison)
Rain : To tell the truth, I did not like the live version but when I heard how he transformed it with the help of Owen Pallett, I am sure it will be one of my favourites on the album. A typical case of a song working through its musical arrangements and not necessarily the melody.
Blame it On the Girls : I expect a lot stronger impact on us when it comes out on the album or probably as the first single. I can already hear in my head as I put together the clapping sound from the vlog with the live performance.. You can actually see in Mika’s performance how he was feeling the groove -a kind of J5-ish song / boogie.
Good Gone Girl: will be a bit hit – it’s like SITM and BG put together – written in that style...deberately not mentioning name here.
And finally, Toy Boy...I really am still at a loss for words when trying to explain how I feel about it. I usually do not pay much attention on lyrics, yet there are lines that keep coming to my head and I keep wondering how this boy could have written something that so simple but complex, beautiful but heartbreakingly sad and most importantly, so visual that it comes to life. He once said he admired writers as they have to create pictures with words... Well, what he did in this one is more than a writer does in a book. In 9 verses he drew a piture that does not simply have multiple meaning levels but you can actually go back and forth those levels, enabling countless interpretations and having tons of images in your head from musicboxes with carousels on top via string-puppets to pantomimie shows. And it is such a piece of art how the music supports the original meaning so that you always go back to it and however sad the story is you feel a positive note.
Yes, the music, to me the most important in any song. I can absolutely hear Papageno’s musicbox in it and towards the end it brings up the image an MC in a French cabaret singing this strory..... Then I re-watched his latest vlog today and it turns out it will be the Kurt Weill type of orchestra playing under with the fairy wings’ sound.... :blush-anim-cl:
It was also re-assuring to see how he is starting to turn into a kind of theatrical performer. I hope that the performance at the Roxy will somehow be documented as the atmosphere when he first sang this song with the fans drinking his words (and the ooh’s and the wow’s) can never be repeated. Plus, he really did pay attention to how he was singing it and was probably much more interested in fans’ reaction than he will ever be about any song.. For this one is not just ’any’ song..:wub2:

The bolded part...I've been thinking about that too and it is a lovely and maybe not so unexpected side if our boy, he shows a big potential just as a theatrical performer and I absolutely love it.

I wanna hear them live myself before I form a true opinion...so this is where I stand on the LA songs so far..
Blue Eyes ...is tops! Love it. Love itttt! but then I have blue eyes and am kinda constantly sad so is very apt. Maybe I should look and see what I might find in lost and found? lol
Toy Boy...very Lollipop girlesque lyrics wise..dark and twisted Meeks at his best! Sounds more puppet than wind up toy but see where he is going with it. Excellent the way you can actually visualize the lyrics ..like a pop up book from a song. Sad and lonely always seems to be the ending of so many songs...heartbreak must be something M is very aware of. Knowing him it will have a completely different meaning. I have realised best never to try and figure out what MIKA's songs are about as what starts of as a name/feeling person ends up being entwined into some deep dark fantasyland, mashed up and then gets pulled out of the other side meaning and being something quite the opposite of what everyonelse thinks it means...I love that aspect of his song writing. The guy is a genius no doubts about that!
GGG...A HIT! can't hear much of the lyrics but the tune ...No1 for sure.
Blame it on the Girl....the clapping idea is great but again if those are the lyrics we have found (sorry probably took months to write) too much chorus for my liking. But catchy which is always a bonus.
The rest I will have to wait and see.
I wish people wouldn't talk at gigs over the quieter songs tho as those are in my opinion are some of the best ones like OMS and Meeks never plays them live as the crowd lose interest...so annoying as I love them.
That was his first performance of the newbie songs,so I am sure they will sound totally different on the EP/ CD which ever is released first..and I will love them all.
With LICM I played a bit of a song and went on to the next one...found I adored every one..hope this is the case with this one as this CD has a lot to live upto...Mr Meeks have you managed it twice in a row? Hope so!
Just hope I get to hear you sing them live to broaden my opinion and then my last and final descision will be on hearing the full CD.
xx

I was saying on another thread, but it needs to be said again. I started off raving about GGG, and rightly so, for it has "hit single" in every phrase of the music and lyrics. Much like Love Today.
However, something has dawned on me, and it's this, GGG could be a great hit, but TOY BOY is going to be one the greatest songs in hstory!
It's dawned on me that it is just SO GOOD! It has everything, pathos, humour, and a great story. Mika's voice when he sings it is so beautiful. It is just right for the song and the feeling he puts in toevery sylable is astonishing! You can tell he means every word. He has the best vocal range I've ever heard and in TB, we get to hear his wonderful lower register. I wonder if Mika knows himself, what an amazing song he's written and how much the world is goin to love it, and him for singing and writing it!
