So, I started a poll after we first heard snippets from the new music vlogs about which songs y'all liked best.

Now that we've heard full versions of the live songs, I ask again: what's everyone's favourite?

I really like Good Gone Girl:wub2:

But I LOVE all of them...its really hard to choose which one I like best :biggrin2:

I had to choose Blue Eyes because I think it fits me quite well. Actually (with the exception of the 'pill' part) it explains me almost perfectly.
Plus I may be a bit biased cause I spent an entire night trying to figure the lyrics out so I kinda have a connection to the song now.

I really like them all though, Toy Boy was definitely a close one too :thumb_yello:

So far Blame it on the girl, it's so darn catchy, well they all are, but that's just so infectious!:wub2:

I predict Toy boy is going to end up with the most votes :mf_rosetinted:

It's easier to pick the one I like least, which is "Good Gone Girl". It's not that I don't like it, but it's just not stuck in my head like the other 3 are :naughty:
I'd probably like it better if I could sing along to it too, but I have no idea what he's saying in it :lol3:

Check the lyrics thread, we've made some half-decent progress on it. I think we can at least get the gist of what it's about now. :naughty:

can't choose..."None of the brand new ones I'd better pick the unreleased demos of some years ago* " is not an option...& I want to give Mika some additional time before I leave the boat :kaf:

* or HowMuchDoYouLoveMe, kinda lame but had its rythmic potential...{keyboards}

I mean, how can you say such raw material is so good...

I voted " I can't possibly pick just one! " because till now I like all the new songs. I want to have the album to say what is my fav new song even if I imagine that I'm going to love all them :blush-anim-cl:

Toyy. Boyy. Driving up to Aucks today with some friends i sung all nine verses over and over until Christy hit me. :naughty:

but i'm seriously in love with that song. i've already gushed about how much i love it everywhere else so i won't start again.

but -surprisingly- my little brother is really into blame it on the girls. he was walking around the house trying to clap and sing it today. but he was saying 'maybe i'm a girl.. maybe i'm a boy.' instead of the alternitave (although i still call it the clap-clap song. its cemented into my brain :lol3:)

The last choice is so beauty queen-ish, like 'I do not have an opinion, I love everything and everyone'

So I, being a choosey chooser, had to choose the can't choose choice.

If I really did have any choice of songs for the new album, I would have HMDYLM, Toy Boy and the Clapping song....and I am still open to the new version of Rain.:wub2:

I've been waiting for the poll. I knew there would be one. I love good Gone Girl because I think it could be a huge hit single, but I think Toy Boy will actually be the stand-out song from the album, so I voted for Toy Boy.
But all the new songs are just amazing. I love them all much better than songs other musicians have written! Rain will also be much better now that it's been completed and set to a really good track with the plucked violin. I think the whole album is going to be outstanding and will have something for everyone who loves great music.

I went for Good Gone Girl because I truly believe it's going to be the first single and his biggest hit since Grace Kelly.
However it was very close between that one and Toy Boy, because the latter could well end up being the standout song on the album. Possibly the most 'Marmite' song too as far as critics are concerned :naughty:.

Guess I'd have to choose Good Gone Girl since it caught me attention as soon as I listened to it. The other ones I had to listen to a few more times to start liking.

This is hard, my favourites are still Good Gone Girl and Blame it on the girls. But I like the other songs as well, anyway, I voted "I can't possibly pick just one" .

Aaaah the new songs :wub2: . I was so close to voting for Toy Boy but then I thought that I can't really choose one, because even though TB is my favourite now, I like them all a lot so I really honestly can't pick only one.

All in all the new songs seem to be a lot more advanced than LICM, and I can't wait to hear the full thing. This record is going to be fantastic.

I'm in love with Toy Boy. I like the lyrics, and I like the way the music underlines the "musical box"-feeling. The way the music seems to slow down and then gets wound up again.
But I like the other ones as well. Blame It On The Girls I liked from the start, but I have to admit I had to get used to Blue Eyes and Good Gone Girl.
And I really want to hear the album-version of Rain.

Gosh, only till fall...

If we'd heard the full album version, maybe it would have more votes... :bleh: I believe it will be really cool, but the "acustic" version...hummm...I like it, but I got tired of that chorus too fast! :blush-anim-cl:

wow, i'm surprised so few votes for blame it on the girs. thats a fantastic song and i would have voted for it if i wasn't so completely, irrovacbly in love with toy boy.

blame it one the girls is my whole family's favorite :naughty:

to be honest, i don't really get what everyone sees in good gone girl, but maybe i'll like the studio version better.

blue eyes is sweet, but so far doesnt seem to be my sort of song.

24-04-2009, 07:23 AM
You mean you know it by heart already?

um.. yeah.. :roftl: i have since the day after mika performed it. whenever someone filled in a gap in the lyrics, i just filled the gap in my head and now i've been singing the whole song the whole way through for at least a week :naughty:

but to be honest.. everyone calls me somewhat of a freak when it comes to remembering words and numbers. i know the phone numbers, post codes and lisense plates of many people i know, lyrics to far too many songs, bible verses, quotes, and when i go overseas i start picking up new languages pretty fast too, although i suck at learning them in theory.

His phrasing is perfect and I hope it's identical on the album since he just recorded it.

i voted for the last option! as always when it comes to mika songs i cant possibly pick just one as my fave!

when i first listened to them my fave was good gone girl, now it's the clapping song! seriously i cant choose just one. thats exaclty what happened to me with LICM too.

Marilyn Mastin

There is only one problem for me with BIOTG, and that's when it gets to the chorus.

Blame it on the giiiiiiiiirrls
Blame it onthe boooooys
Blame it on the giiiiiiiiiirrls
Blame it on the boooooys

I just think he could have done a bit better with the chorus. Otherwise, it's a wonderful song and I certainly don't hate it.

I voted none of the above, I still prefer rain, cause it's true.. and it's clearly the most unpopular choice, but I 'm conscious of that. :naughty:

though I'm being a good girl and trying to listen to the new songs, to see if they grow on me. it hasn't worked so far. :boxed: a little for toy boy, but just that and just a little. I don't give up. :mf_rosetinted:

Has to be TOY BOY :wub2: I agree with Kata about Rain though I have not heard it live, but I do find that one a little whinny, the others I aint given a fair chance to yet cos I am too obsessed with Toy Boy because I am in love with the lyrics, and feel and melody and just I'm in love with it

I have the feeling that he's HAS altered Rain quite a bit. He played us the new verse, but switched off the track as it was getting to the choirus, and said something like "that's all you're getting for now" with a mischievious smile on his face. So I do think that when we hear rain again, we'll be pleasantly surprised.

What you need is to be standing at a gig, and to hear these songs while you're within the range of Mika's reality-distortion field. Grainy YouTube videos from across the world are one thing - just wait until you hear them in person. You'll be right back on the Mika train. :blush-anim-cl:
