Does he ?

Yeah have you not had the email from MIKASOUNDS.COM yet?

Oh dunno what I'll wear. I am hunting down the Holy Grail at the moment of finding a nice pair of jeans that aren't so low that they show my arse (not a pleasant thought!) are not too long as only 5ft 2, don't give me a camel foot, hide my tummy, are not black or very dark blue.
I have 6 pairs of jeans and hate them all at the moment. My muffin tops are splilling over my skinnys and bootcut look too flarey with converse or ballet pumps, too cold for shorts and 3/4 ones look like I'm stood in a hole!!
I hate being me some days!!
xx

I think that email (Patrick Wolf)was from the record company - Universal not MIKASOUNDS.com so you might have to re-subscribe to get those ones I think I deleted it but will have a looky for you xx

You know what I agree with "what the hell was all that about with Patrick wolf"!! I think it's just a marketing ploy to promote other bands and artists (coincidently on the same label) off the back of Mika. Ok, Patrick Wolf comes close since he is just as quirky- but the same musical genre? I don't think so...

Mika want's his fans to dress up...ok. And then he wants the dressed up fans to warm up for the gigs by listening to "Pull Tiger Tail"? Get real!! Have you listened to them?? It was announced in the same email that this group would be supporting Mika...

No I won't be dressing up- never have done, never will- but who says I can't enjoy his music without dressing up???

First of all thanks Daisylou for posting the email :mf_rosetinted:

And then I have to agree to this post, now what the hell is THAT :sneaky2: I'll warm up listening to Mika thank you very much  And eh...don't dictate me a dress code, then I'll dress as the girl at the local library  I really don't like people telling me what to do, if people went out and dressed up "outrageously" because they found it fun then it would be really charming, but if people dress up because Mika(sounds) requests it then it becomes just some sort of publicity stunt to me

sorry rant over, I'll find a potted plant to wear as hat now :mf_rosetinted:

what about just wearing really bright colours? Know what you mean about jeans, I went for years not being happy with any jeans I bought, but now go to New Look and H&M - can recommend!

yeah same here.. weird.

the same here. Maybe they send them according to nationality? No MIKA's gig in italy in MAy!!

another quick thought: maybe Mika is loosing control on his career? It may be like this when one is growing so much and bringing so much money...
or maybe he agrees with all this, he promotes it all...in this case we are talking of another person down here.

final thought: i'll love him fovever and listen to his music till i fall to the ground dead. AMEN

robertina

A thought about Patrick Wolf: when I received the email, i deleted immediately without reading because I was afraid it was a virus...no MIkasounds sender mentioned!!
As you say he is Universal as MIka, now think that Mika's newsletter on Mikasounds might be a fake.:sneaky2:

Dark, obscure thoughts are haunting me tonight

never got anything from patrick. typical of me LOL

I won't say I'll dress outrageously, but a little colourful.. yes.. try at least

and I agree much of the record company merchandising campaign is in control of the publicists rather than our boy.

Yes, I agree re Patrick Wolf. I'd love to think that Mika was sitting on a plane listening to Patrick Wolf and wanting to tell everyone how good he is. However, as PW is on same label, he was either 'persuaded' to do that by record company or that whole letter was a bit of a sham.

The dressing outrageously thing is another publicity stunt of course, but I guess publicity stunts are part of the whole showbiz thang. As long as it's not manipulative like the PW thing, then I don't mind.

I know it's a part of the whole thing, but they are pushing it a bit at the moment aren't they :boxed: I was actually making a t-shirt for tomorrow, but after I read this I don't feel like doing it anymore :emot-sad: I know I shouldn't be even thinking this, but I am...I don't wanna be a clown in cirkus Mika, I have my own cirkus...This is spoiling my fun and I'm quite annoyed with it

My friends and I wore our Mika shirts that we got at the concert. It was funny cause a member of Mika's family, I think his aunt, approached me to ask where I got it. hahaha I'm SURE he can hook her up. =]

avoca

1 for now, robertina, maybe two but not sure about the second, i have to check the dates :wink2:

i say and it's just my humble opinion: go colourful and funny if you had ALREADY planned to do that, otherwise if that doesn't suit your style, then don't do it. it'd be fake and it'd make you all feel uncomfortable. so I say dare if you feel like it, not case you're told.
and this is general meant, not addressed to anyone in specific, nor mika is blaimed as the source of this, which I agree has lots to do with the publicity stunt.

I guess it depends what he means by dressing up. On another thread, the one with the girl asking him a question on the radio - he said to dress up in costumes or something????? That's above and beyond I'm afraid. If he wants to dress as a lion, then fair play to him, but things are a little different for us making our way home after the gig!!!!!!!!

The most outrageous I'm getting is me and a friend have found some glittery kids pom pom things that we're taking.
For me it's a big enough step to wear something other than black, lol.
*Had her own Mika t-shirt made a while back*
So I'll be wearing that.
As for proper crazy dressing up, I only do that at Halloween...because then everybody else looks just about as stupid as I do!

Think its something to do with his childhood and dressing up. Must agree I was always dressing up when small but then I love all that-theatrics!
At KOKO he had people dressed up as gangsters?! Be awful to have to stand next to someone who is in a costume and is all hot and smelly just to be a bit of silly!
Like the girl from Glasgow said I never get to go out either so might get dressed up, but in the posh frock way rather than the drag queen or character way!
xx

I think, girls, you are reading a bit to much into it. There are a lot of fans who already come to the gigs all dressed up, there are some who wouldn't dare. But I'm sure some of us are thinking about it, and Mika just wanted to encourage us a bit. If you want to bring back a child in you, when is the best time to do it if not Mika's gig? Something to remember for long time to come. Obviously, don't force yourself if you don't feel like it.:wink2:

I wanted to wear a tiara and fairy wings but as I have to use my fu***ng wheelchair (as you can tell I hate using it!) I can't as my wings will get squashed unless I sit forward.
I think a rosette in my hair could be a possibility and a sparkley ,glittery hairband? But then I get called Alice-as in Alice in Wonderland, stupid really as look nothing like her but the number of people that used to say that, stopped me wearing them! xx

We should all do something we could sort of pre-arrange and do at his shows that would become a bit of a trademark for the fans but wouldn't be too expensive or cause people to harass us late at night when we're leaving.
*Nods*
Like glo-sticks on certain colours for certain songs, because they can be put away and aren't too cumbersome. Maybe the glo-sticks that change colour, like on Grace Kelly when he says the colours during the chorus.
*Snicker*
That way if we all did it at the same time and turned on our glo-sticks for the chorus imagine how awesomely effective that would be, not only for the fans but imagine what he'd see on stage if we all did it on a keyword and the audience just lit up, lol.

If we all decided on one thing to get, we'd not only be able to recognise whose on the MFC (Because we'd be the only ones who knew about it) but we'd all be really bright and noticeable!
*Snickerfit*
Something maybe like one of these: Flashing Glow Wands (http://www.theglowcompany.co.uk/acatalog/FLASHING-STAR-WAND.html)
or this: Glow Pen (http://www.theglowcompany.co.uk/acatalog/LIGHT_UP_PEN.html)
or this: LED Flash Sticks (http://www.glow-sticks.org/subcat/Flashing-Novelties/Flash-Sticks.html)

Lol! I still need to break it gently to Mr BG that I don't think he should go as Big Girl. I am hoping he can't find a blue basque big enough!

:roftl:

Well I did try to find a big girl outfit! but I don't think my sister would let me out of the house!

And this would be awesome on Love Today: Flashing Glitter Hearts (http://www.theglowcompany.co.uk/acatalog/FLASHING_GLITTER_HEART.html)

Wow, I've had too much sugar today.

Also, we could do this no matter which gig we went to, for instance if different MFC members go to London, Brighton, Glasgow or where ever, we would all have the same trade mark, sounds like a good idea! :punk:

i think the hearts are just necklace pendant things...would be great if there were heart glow sticks so we could stick them up high in the air for Mika to see us all :wink2:

Maybe if everyone going from MFC was up for the idea of heart sticks, they'd make us some?

im not sure.......i have been looking around and i cant find heart sticks at all ...it would in that case be very unique for us MFC'ERS

anyway all i can see are glowing heart badges and regular glow sticks

but im really liking the heart shaped glow sticks....im imagining them to be like the wands with stars on top but a heart instead

but the question is who would make them for us to order?

babspanky
06-04-2007, 09:06 PM
Maybe we could ask that company if they would do it and sell them in the MFC shop!

let me set the scene for you all....

your in the audience of a Mika Concert the room is dark except for some strobe lighting effects coming from the stage
I guess you cant see individuals too well in a huge crowd ...anyway...
He starts to sing Love Today
That is the MFC'ers Q
we all switch on our glow hearts and wave then around in the air

Mika is bound to notice that right'?

That would just be so amazing!
*Nods*

And we should totally try and contact that company to see if they could do anything about making a heart glowstick for MFC. If not, we could try to figure out if there is anyway we could get them on the end of a wand ourselves.
*Nods*
If that doesn't work we could always just hold the hearts in our hands and wave them in the air when it comes on. Like on 'Love Love me!' if we pumped out fists there'd be a bunch of hearts up in the air.

Hopefully though after a few gigs it'll start to catch and then there'll be loads of people doing it, lol.

ok well the MFC store is run by spreadshirt and they dont do any kind of glow sticks so we are going to have to do independent searches for some kind of glow heart stick....if anyone finds a good store give everyone a yell and pass out the word on the thread :thumb_yello:

I made a thread for the idea:

So we can stick our ideas in there and it'll hopefully catch some more attention too.

Me and Leigh are designing our own t-shirts for the Glasgow gig, with lollipops on the front and our forum names underneath. We plan to - we WILL - be at the very front so he is bound to see them! Having watched the Koko thing - I saw someone with a feather boa - and now I want to take one of them too!!!
