I love U2 as well. My favorite albums are Joshua Tree and All that You Can't Leave Behind.

A lot of people rag on Bono for all the humanitiarian stuff he does on the side, but I appreciate it. He might as well use his influence and celebrity for something positive, y'know?

Sorry for posting in an old thread, but this thread desserves a hogher note of posts:wink2:
I'm a HUGE U2-fan, for years, and I can't live without their music. It's really special to me, it gives me strenght in hard times, it cheers me up when I feel down and it makes me feel better when I'm already feeling great. No day without U2 for me, and it's been so since I was a little 8th year old...
Most people don't like Achtung Baby, but that's my favourite record. Not only because of One....I find the whole cd great. You just have to listen it often before you hear how beautiful it is...
The Joshua Tree is also one of my favourite cd's, especially Red Hill Mining Town and Running to Stand Still. And The Streets of course, which is my all-time favourite U2 song.
I can't choose their 5 best songs, there are so many songs that have been really important or special to me....In 2004 I was almost dead, very ill, and in that time you heard Walk on and Stuck in a Moment very often on the radio. In 2005 it was Sometimes you can't make it on Your Own that kept me fighting against my diseases.
Songs as Stay (far away, so close), Ultraviolet, Bad and the other songs I wrote about will be very special and important to me, for the rest of my life. Can't wait to see them again.....:blush-anim-cl: :blush-anim-cl:

It's so difficult to say why you love them EXACTLY, isn't it? But I feel the same way too, they're a real important part of my life, they really make my life easier. Sounds so stupid, but when I'm really f*cked up, felling really bad I just have to listen to U2 and the clouds dissappear. No day without U2 for me:mf_rosetinted:

...I have listened U2 very often...and I am still insatiable :roftl: ...since 1990 I fell under bono musical influence...it was turn point in my musical taste... but I prefer oeuvre before achtung baby (AB including)...the joshua tree is classic bono´s handwriting, which impressed itself on my mind...e.g. sunday bloody sunday, war, gloria, boy, october, new years day, and e.t.c are amazing too... generally all my days are filled with good music…so I understand you very well…I am glad via Mika we can discuss about another artist as well…

p.s.: MIKA has the stable position in my mind since I have heard him first time…and billy brown sounds in my ears again and again…I love MIKA and his piano…I love when he is sitting …playing…singing…giving to us occasion to be in one harmony…

U2!!!

I've recently fell in love with U2 after seeing U23D at the IMAX theatre in Melbourne... if it's showing near you see it! It's f**king awesome! Especially where he reaches towards you... and when he kisses Adam (:das:)... and lights a flare blindfolded...

Anyways... I bought How to Dismantle An Atomi Bomb, Achtung Baby, Joshua tree and Rattle and Hum (must refrain from calling it Rattle Your Bum :naughty:)...

Bono is a genius!

i don't wanna say that i love u2, it would sound cheesy.. i respect them, i adore their music, they are perfection.. i've seen them live only once, in 2005 in Poland. and to tell the truth that was one of the most amazing days in my life.. they didn't come to Poland during Elevation Tour so some Polish fans went to their gigs with polish flag and "WHY NOT IN POLAND?" written on it. Bono took the flag during the show in Berlin i think, and promised that they're gonna come to Poland with the next tour. so on the Vertigo tour, as a thank you, there was this idea of forming Polish flag to thank them for coming. i've read about it before the show, took red shirt to wave but didn't think it would work out. we were going to do it during New Year's Day, which was written about Poland, Solidarnosc movement in particular. and so the song started and it looked like that:

When we were in Paris for our last day to run about the city a group of seven of us went to the Hard Rock Cafe...

I saw a little paper booklet on the table and it caught my eye because Bono was on the front cover... it was advertising this shirt....

I haven't read this whole thread (sorry!) but I just had to post and say I'm also a HUGE U2/Bono fan! My mom and I saw them in concert a few years ago and (this sounds dorky but) it was such an emotional, moving, incredible experience. Bono really connected with the crowd--even in such a huge venue--and we were all dancing and screaming all the words to every song. He had us all get our cell phones out and once point and wave them around, and we were a sea of lights, hanging on to his every word. They ended the show with "40" and one by one left the stage as everyone in the audience sang the chorus over and over again. I had goosebumps as it ended, and seriously...I left that show wanting to change the world. :blush-anim-cl:

My mom said if she could meet one famous person, it would be Bono. She loves him. I would LOOOVE to see them in concert again.

Yeah only been 2 one U2 concert and it was awesome especially the part about changing the world and i was in the nosebleeder seats...

i just got a u2 fanclub mail saying they are hoping 4 the new album to release in 2008...so that could be the winter of '08 then a tour following after that...

i think 2009 will be a great year 4 tours...Mika, U2, Coldplay will probably tour then. What would make this complete if Prince would have another tour :tears:

The boys were in HQ all last week, Edge said "later the year", "more news in the coming months" at a Music Rising Benefit a couple of days ago...

They were in Moracco most of last summer...they just signed with Live Nation...

So they are obiviously getting ready to get back out there again, but something tells me this album isn't going to be THAT great (and I HIGHLY doubt it will come out this year, its FAR to late), I have to admit, the last amazing U2 album was Zooropa...end of story

I just found an interesting post from a U2 fan:
In the cases of their previous 2 releases, U2 have issued their albums around October/November, which does a couple things: (1) It makes the album among the holidays' biggest sellers and (2) It puts the album in the position to dominate the Grammy Awards for at least 2 years. I watched a special on live aid just the other day and they played one song from each artist. Of course they played Sunday Bloody Sunday... And Radio Ga Ga :punk:
But the artist that got my attention was Bob Geldof singing I Don't Like Mondays. (But I've always liked Bob)

But, yeah I agree - Joshua Tree!! I hope the new album is like that *points at CD*.. I hope there's stronger meanings to the songs like they were doing then.. There was a title list somewhere..

ok, it took me some time to find a U2 thread!!! :doh: but i finally found it.
I've been a U2 fan for 20 years now, i've seen them 5 times. have all their albums and more. When it comes to my U2/mika relations, I always say that I'm married to U2 and that Mika is my delicious affair :naughty: (a long lasting affair though!)

My U2 highlight was definatly the time i went to Dublin and had lunch in the clarence hotel, there he was, Bono having lunch with Ali and his kids. just a few tables away!!!!:shocked: Can't even remember what i had for lunch!

So having said all that...i'm subscribing to this thread:thumb_yello:

I am a huge Bon Jovi fan (for 19 years) and my friends and family call me Mrs Bon Jovi. So I consider Jon my husband and Mika my little affair.. However, U2 have taken the lead at the moment :naughty:

I'd love to have seen U2 live.. Hopefully they come back to Oz with the new album..
I seem to be cursed though, and whenever a band I want to come tours, I miss out..

Owww, it's just too painful, isn't it? I have other friends who love U2, not as much as I do, but they'll try to get tickets too. And bf has some real U2-loving friends, so I'm going to ask all of tem to get a ticket for me too, I'll call them when I have tickets myself, so I don't get them twice for the same date. No, you're not the only one:mf_rosetinted: I just HATE it when like last time there were people next to me who didn't even know The FLy..... Not even the most unknown song..... They only knew the singles like Beautiful day, Vertigo and Elevation, and of course the older great hits. They were there, while other real fans, who have all their work and bootlegs too were not. I was so happy I was there, we had two of the last tickets, but hey, I was there!! I had to 'escape' out of the hospital (the doctors thought it was too early to leave, but I had to be there.....:naughty:) but it was all worth it:wub2:

Yep....That's another reason they think I'm crazy....I'm buying those records for the third or fourth time. First on tape, later on cd and that cd's were stolen by my lovely brother so when he had his own place I bought them again. And now I'm buying the remasterd albums.....But I'm making progression; my mum wants to go to the next tour too:thumb_yello:

I'm searching for that song for such a long time, have downloaded a few versions but later I removed them because they weren;t what I was looking for....Hate it, it's such a beautiful song.....

The Irish superstar was listening to songs from the group's forthcoming album at his villa in the South of France - and an erstwhile reportedly holidaymaker recorded them.
The clips were then posted on video networking website YouTube.com
The band have recently finished their next studio album, rumoured to be called No Line On The Horizon.
