I think you mean "Velvet Goldmine." Great movie, though Placebo were by far not the best part of it. :-P

I used to like Placebo... but then things happened. Not a fan anymore. (Well, I still think Stefan is lovely.)

PLACEBO PART COMPANY WITH DRUMMER STEVE HEWITT

Placebo have parted company with drummer of 11 years, Steve Hewitt, due to personal and musical differences.

Brian Molko commented "Being in a band is very much like being in a marriage, and in couples - in this case a triple - people can grow apart over the years. To say that you don't love your partner anymore is inaccurate, considering all that you've been through and achieved together. There simply comes a point when you realize that you want different things from your relationship and that you can no longer live under the same roof, so to speak."

The split is amicable and a sad time for both parties. Steve Hewitt replaced Robert Schultzberg behind the drum kit in 1996 whilst the band were promoting Placebo’s eponymous debut album and went on to record the following 4 studio albums ‘Without You I’m Nothing’, ‘Black Market Music’, ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’ and most recently ‘Meds’.

Placebo have just returned from the USA where they were part of the high profile ‘Projekt Revolution Tour’ alongside Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance. The band are now taking a well earned break.

Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal will begin work on Placebo’s 6th studio album next Spring and are in no rush to find an immediate replacement for Steve.

Track-by-track:
Placebo: Battle For The Sun. The First Review Of Their New Album
Toby Cook, April 7th, 2009 08:04

Trumpets? Handclaps? Epic post rock? Placebo fan Toby Cook is mildly concerned after hearing their new album

‘Kitty Litter’
Let’s be honest, this is a pretty dreadful song title. However, any concerns that it is an indication of the quality of the song itself are dispensed with within about two seconds. The opening track of Placebo’s fifth studio album, Battle For The Sun, goes straight for the carotid artery, and is instantly reminiscent of the band’s more musically aggressive moments like ‘Brick ****house’ or ‘Bulletproof Cupid’. A very punk, route-and-octave guitar part opens the track before a gut punching kick-drum leads us into the main body of the tune. One thing that has arguably coloured Placebo’s career, since their eponymous debut, has been an unwillingness to operate as a straight forward rock band, but ‘Kitty Litter’ is for the most part a constant, up-tempo, head-banger. No plinky plonky piano or effects laden guitar parts here, just three guys with three instruments, going for it. That is until a rather ill-judged Bloc Party-esque hand clap interlude. Molko seems up beat – the lyrics express a desire for a particular individual’s attentions, as opposed to the usual laments of how that individual has tormented him.

‘Ashtray Heart’
The intro here is not dissimilar to that of the previous track, and is almost exactly the same tempo, except for the curious decision to include a stylophone part. On the plus side, this is another out and out rock number, again displaying the group’s punkish aesthetic – which may account for the shouted, fist pumping vocal backing, post chorus. It may appear curious that for a track that takes its name from a Captain Beefheart song, there appears to be no reference musically or lyrically to his musical ouevre. Though in the interests of pub quiz trivia, Ashtray Heart was allegedly the band’s original name, before switching to Placebo.

‘Battle For The Sun’
The title track from the LP, and initially a far more familiar sounding Placebo appears. Discordant guitar layers, and anguished vocals, set to rim-shot heavy drums leads to an opening verse which stylistically at least is a kin to the likes of QOTSA; a soundtrack for speeding, top down, along a parched desert highway, straight towards the rapidly setting sun. But then an almighty shift – Placebo go epic, calling to mind Biffy Clyro’s ‘Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies’. Kitchen sink and all is thrown straight in as the chorus erupts, almost out of nothing. Whirling strings and hammering piano notes are shoehorned in with at least two guitar parts. This over-builds to the point where any sort of climax is bound to be slightly disappointing. For those of you familiar with Spaced, Tim (Simon Pegg)’s explanation of masturbation could just as easily be applied to the conclusion of this song.

‘For What It’s Worth’
A very garage rock-esque opening here, with dirty, speaker cone rupturing, distorted bass backing familiar expressions of self-loathing from Molko. By the time we start to get into the track however, again the band change tack again as the tune becomes almost d-beat in its rhythmic make up. What happens at roughly two minutes in, has to go down as one of the most bizarre, and unexplainable thing I have ever heard however: the track stops, and we’re treated to about 5 seconds of (what I’m pretty sure is) the Tetris theme music, before starting again. There is still a part of me that hopes this will not appear on the album when it’s finally released, and that it was simply a ruse to completely dumbfound a room full of hacks. Like the momentarily appearing penis in Fight Club.

‘Devil In The Details’
Although not filler or bad by any means, the songs so far have all felt quite similar and this is no different. One of the beauties of Placebo’s earlier work, especially around Without You I’m Nothing and Black Market Music, was that interspersed between the uptempo, pop-grunge songs, were minimal, down beat affairs like ‘Blue American’ or ‘Burger Queen’. Alarmingly anything resembling this side of the band’s personality seems to be missing so far. Again with ‘Devil In The Details’ we get the starts-odd-then-goes-epic approach. Admittedly, the sustained almost choral synth intro has a very haunting quality and adds a depth to the track.

‘Bright Lights’
The Killers. That’s all I can think for almost the duration of ‘Bright Lights’. Whilst the track is far from being a ‘Mr. Brightside’, with its incessant Casio keyboard noise appearing at every conceivable opportunity, it would only look slightly out of place on Hot Fuzz. Even lyrically this is feels like a lazy effort, with Molko repeating ad-nausum the insipid phrase: “A heart that hurts is a heart that works”. Dreadful.

‘Speak In Tongues’
Subtle, progressive, considered piano notes and driving bass form the backing for a series of delicate, plucked guitar harmonics that make for a welcome change of pace. But, alas it does not last, and before long the tempo is upped and everything becomes grandiose and epic. A lone, hastily strummed guitar marks a break for the chorus, but again it is short lived as everything is thrown in for the crescendo. Curiously, in another moment of journalist-confusing weirdness, the track contains brief moments of what sounds like a mobile phone ringing. So much so that during the playback, all heads pop-up, meerkat like, looking for the culprit.

‘The Never-Ending Why’
At this point I’m starting to ask myself a similar question to Brian. An ode to frustration, ‘The Never-Ending Why’ forces yet more instruments into an already overcrowded mix. As the track progresses, understated vocal harmonies underpin an otherwise melancholic feel and add a much needed cohesion to things. Even though there seems to be little need for it, yet more brass instruments appear as the tune once again broods and swells. This veers into the territory of the post rock epic with moments of, admittedly well engineered, high pitched Mono-esque guitar work.

‘Julien’
Now we seem to be getting somewhere. A very electro, synth bass opening – bringing to mind Meds, ‘Infra-red’ or ‘Blind’. On first listen this could almost be a low-end loop from a drum & bass number. Thankfully the darker, depressive tendencies of the group at last seem to have fought their way through but it doesn’t last for long. Just as the song seems to be unfurling into a genuinely engrossing three or four minute journey into lyrical androgyny - that same driving, kick-drum lead tempo from the opening numbers is back. But this is a good tune and will no doubt be released as a single at a later date.

‘Happy You’re Gone’
The minimal, melancholic opening is a familiar staple of the Without You I’m Nothing days, but soon enough that same driving tempo comes on like the rush of liquid sugar, injected into your eyeballs. No questionable instrumentation this time, but possibly they had a few more hours left with the string section before the money ran out, because as competently arranged as it is, you can’t help but feel that the track (and by extension, the whole album) would have benefited from a less liberal usage of it. Molko seems to be in genuine agony as throat lacerating cries of “every word from you is a lie” sibilate and carve through the ever more consuming noise.

‘Breathe Underwater’
A dirty, garage rock tinged bass line sets things off before swathes of heavily distorted, high key guitar chords introduce what is actually a pretty ballsy rock song. As the track progresses the drums move into some clichéd, but well executed tom work. On an album so far full of often overly contrived, epic jaunts – this is three plus minutes of welcome relief.

‘Come Undone’
Thick, warm, barely distorted guitar chords, and lightly plucked harmonics again invite comparisons in style to Mono. As it meanders its way along we are at last treated to that other staple of the Placebo roster: Molko’s inane ability to make rather naff, schoolboy rhymes sound plausible – on this occasion opting to rhyme ‘toss’ with ‘cross’ and ‘loss..t’. Before long though the track has again built in to an epic, post rock taunting affair, before closing with what sounds like the Tardis appearing. Weird? Yes. Very.

‘Kings Of Medicine’
And thus we reach the final composition of Placebo’s Battle For The Sun odyssey (and this isn't a term I'm using lightly) and an acoustic guitar raises its head timorously. Accompanied at first solely by Molko’s gravelled voice, soon enough he is joined by every instrument that has ever been invented. It seems that the sound of Placebo circa 2009 is one of a thick, almost impenetrable, wall of sound. Muted trumpets, hand claps, stabbed piano keys and that damned Casio all contend for attention. This may well be an audio puzzle to solve with more listens but on first encounter it presented an occasional barrier to enjoyment.

Quick report from last night. We arrived at 6:30PM, doors opened at 7. We went straight for a seated spot. The venue was very tiny and mostly seated with stalls, and wherever you were, you were actually very close and had a great view!! I had noone in front of me, which made it even better :biggrin2:
B came onstage at 7:30 and made a little welcoming speech, and introduced the support act (the new drummer :naughty:). Placebo was on at 8:30. They played a lot of their new songs at the beginning and of course the crowd was enjoying, but not very mad. So halfway Bryan said sthg like "you need to give more than this cause the show is being filmed" (the security insisted on that btw, and never let us film, I tried, but they were all over the place and made me put my cam back in my bag after like 30 seconds grrrr). They started playing old songs and it went off. The audience just went outta control lol. Anyway, that was awesome. Seeing Placebo in such a small place was really extraordinary. I wonder what they'll do with the shooting, they haven't said. I hope they air it cause I really want to see that :biggrin2:

Yes...

http://entertainment.stv.tv/music/102452-placebo-storm-off-rockness-stage-after-scissors-thrown-at-singer/

The festival peeps later said it was a misunderstanding and that the scissors had been left on the stage by one of the techies. When someone threw something at Brian a bit later, he looked down, saw the scissors and freaked out. But some people from the audience witnessed they had seen the scissors being trown at the band... so the mystery remains intact. :wink2:

hi!!
I'm a new one on this thread :wink2: ( and don't know if I'll stay for a long time as what I'm going to say is not that nice for brian...).

I really love placebo!! and I got the chance to see them live on tuesday evening at Paléo festival (in switzerland).
All I have to say is that I am soooooooooooo disapointed......
Well, I have to be honest and say that, from a musical point of view, it was really great!!! A special standing ovation for the drummer (sorry, I don't know his name...) who was conpletely brilliant!!!!
And Brian sang perfectly of course....
But the atmosphere was soooooooooooo heavy....a lot of people leaved the place even before the gig was over...
Why??
Because we folks didn't get a single word from Brian... except a "hello" and some "thank you" between the songs....due to this lack of communication, the beginning of the show was really cold, except for some people standing at the front rows who danced and screamed the all gig.... but I've never seen people at paléo being so calm.... (this was nothing to compare with Mika's performance of last year, where the entire site of paléo was dancing and singing :wub2:).
The worst came when brian finally said more than one word..... and it was only to make a kind of sermon telling people not to move too much because people at the front row were being crashed on the barriers...... he said something like "you should not hurt anybody....and if you continue dancing like this, we'll leave...".:sneaky2:
and 2 or 3 songs after that, he said exactely the same in french (which, at first, made people really happy, 'cause we were all waiting to hear him speak french) But as it was to ask us if we weren't able to understand english...it threw a massive cold on the already cold audience....and then, nothing more... no "how are you paléo?" or "Do you have fun?" or I don't know what but WORDS between the songs instead of a black scene....:mf_rosetinted:

Anyway, I still love placebo... but I'll love them from my livingroom from now on... I really can't figure out to spend some more money to see this....

And I'm sorry if my post disturbs anybody.. that's not the point at all... but I really needed to give my opinion on this gig (and maybe be rassured about how their "normal" gigs are...)

Diana

And I'm sorry if my post disturbs anybody.. that's not the point at all... but I really needed to give my opinion on this gig (and maybe be rassured about how their "normal" gigs are...)

Hey fear not! Nobody will get disturbed by you being honest.
Besides, Placebofans are among the most harsh and critical I've ever met anyway. :teehee:

It really sucks when there's not much interaction with the audience.
I've not seen them on this tour yet (Niki27 has so I'm sure she will come in here and give her views soon!) but I have watched some live streams and noticed that Brian was stuck behind his mic most of the time.
In the past Brian would hop around on the stage like a pogo stick, Stefan often came down from the stage to greet the audience and play his guitar in front of the barriers.
So I don't know what's up either.. maybe Brian wasn't that into it.. or maybe he's just getting old. :teehee:

Niki27
23-07-2009, 01:03 PM
Haha what can I say?
I've seen them twice this tour, but in very different circumstances.
Brian barely talked at Pinkpop, just the usual intro: "We are Placebo, we come in peace (:aah:) We're glad to be back in Holland blabla". Not much.
He was chattier in Brussels, which was an intimate gig, he even came to talk to the crowd and introduce Steve an hour before the show.

I dont understand why it matters anyway. You have different kind of artists:
A) The not talkative ones (Brian, Calvin Harris fall into that category)
B) The ones who try too hard and keep repeating the same prepared speech, which, in the long run, works on my nerves (and sorry for this but Mika used to be in that category :naughty: He's improving tho)
C) The ones who are spontaneously chatty (Chris Martin from Coldplay is probably the best example amongst the people I've seen live)
D) The ones who tell you everything about their life on stage and you just would like them to stop and sing because they talk for ages between each song. (Amy McDonald... Lord at one point I wanted her to swallow her guitar if that was the only way for her to shut it, sorry, I know, not nice, but I really don't care about her dog's whereabouts :roftl:)

It also depends on their mood of course. But even tho C is the best, I'm much more tolerant to A than to B&D. Besides, when I go and see a rockband, I don't expect long speeches inbetween the songs.

As for what he said well... I know how snappy he can sound lol. But at least he cares about his audience. It's not the first time he stops playing and tells people to be careful cause the front rows are being crushed (in fact he does that quite often, or asks people to look after each other before the show even starts). Maybe that makes him sound like a partypooper and maybe he could word it differently but I think it comes from a nice intention, he's really worried about fans potentially getting hurt.

Nanou
23-07-2009, 07:01 PM
I'm really happy to have your differents points of view...... I've been expecting this gig for months and it all went the exact opposite as what I was really looking for

Niki: I thought exactely like you, when he first told people not to dance so much and to watch out for people being at the front row....it was just really nice to take care of the poor crashed ones indeed :teehee:.... but the way he said it in french afterwards was soooooo cold and sounded so much like a "you silly people stop dancing or you'll have come for nothing".... and this really shocked everyone...

on the one hand, I perfectly understand how horrible this must be to see people being crashed on barriers right in front of you... but on the other hand, they're, as you said, a ROCKband.... do they expect people to knit during their gig :roftl: (which would be quite funny as a matter of fact...)?

I wished I could have been to any other "lively" gig and never have to tell this... reallly... but that's just how it all went... and that's too bad for them because their music is brilliant....

And I see what you mean with the A-B-C-D list!!! to be honest i really do appreciate interactive gigs much better as "static non-interactive gigs" with no atmosphere at all... But this kind of feelings are so personnal...

Anyway, I'm really pleased to see that all their gigs are not like that and that this was only an "accident" :wink2:

and I had a great night even though, thanks to other artists playing the same day at th festival (The gossip, kaiser Chiefs, and more...)

Thanks for your points of view!

Oh but he was kinda nice this time, didn't even call them names ! :roftl:
He just complained about the moshpit. Rockbands like Placebo shouldn't expect people to be knitting at their gigs, naturally, but Placebo is one of these few rockbands which was already active and popular when the Roskilde drama occured back in 2000 and I bet they have that at the back of their mind when playing for huge crowds.

I'm not sure u know what I'm talking about so the story is: there was a moshpit at a festival in Denmark, Pearl Jam was playing, it turned bad, some people fell, others got squeezed against the barriers... 9 died, 40 were badly injured.

So what can I say... I think Brian was right to tell people to calm down if, from the stage, he could see things going out of control. When I saw Placebo at PP, I was front row and I can assure you everybody was jumping hard and that it was fun, but chaotic, and that there were little moshpits. He didn't complain then tho, so if he did at the Paleo, I'm sure he had his reasons.

Of course, he could ask in a nicer way but that's just him lol, he always has that very superior tone when adressing the crowd (or anyone actually) :teehee: It usually makes me laugh cause it's part of the character ;)

oh my.... this is just horrible.... I've never heard about that before (maybe I did but obviously I forgot... :blush-anim-cl:).

now I see what he was afraid of...poor him....

I must admit that I don't know the band well enough to understand Brian's attitude... maybe this is just the point actually ...I just did not understand the character (but still, I really wish I'll never see his bad days as you say he was nice :aah:).

it's a really good thing that I had the opportunity to talk a bit about that with you!!! it really helped me to calm down and take a kind of distance with my first anger against him :protest: I'll just keep the good music memories now:thumb_yello:

so Thank You!!!

They have a whole thread dedicated to Brian's daddy-like rants on the placebo forum lol. In one of the vids, he also ranted, and then explained to the crowd he didnt want anyone to get hurt, cause he would feel responsible, that he couldn't play if he saw people punching each other/moshpitting at the front cause they were ruining the gig for the audience and the band and that he wanted placebo gigs to be safe for everyone. He clearly overreacts at times but I think he's genuinely worried lol.

But see, yeah, it aint just in Switzerland ;)

I loved them tonight.
We weren't front row, we were at the end of the security alley -the one perpendicular to the stage- 15th row (yeah was bored, I counted) but the alley was empty which means there was noone in front of us but... Brian lol. It was even better than front row cause he always looks right in front of him so we literally had the feeling he was singing just for us lol. + We could see all the visuals on the screens behind them much better, which gives a very different dimension to the show.

Setlist was the usual one.
Brian looked in top form despite last week's events.
He interrupted the show after the first song tho, saying he was sorry but the stage was slippery and he had to change shoes cause he didnt want to collapse a second time in a week *cough*

Audience was a bit lame BUT I think their performance was much better than Pinkpops :D

Ahh. You'd be disappointed to know that PFWW has plans to become the official board. BUT this will be met with a flurry of "new" members (Steve Forrest and Come Undone fanatics etc) which will up the spam and probably send a rebellion, however that's how the board seems to want to change to mirror Placebo's image. I am a "new" fan, but i know my facts so i generally agree with the people who have been around a while - and i'm currently upstarting a task involving a certain man and his new project.
Which is your board by the way?

^ no that's not what i mean .. i love them both so much :teehee: (though now you come to mention it, i suppose it is that way for a few people, but not most)
I mean, the way in which newer fans usually don't so much understand what it used to be like for Placebo, many older fans find the newer fans a pest (it's hard to fit in as a new fan in that respect). I find i get along with everyone just fine because i know what they're all talking about.
It was kinda hard to cram into a paragraph... weirdly i had the first myspace group for Steve Forrest, but recently i've been *erm* "speaking to" Beanie about *lets the cat out of the bag* a forum i'm going to start dedicated to his new project, which i've offered him the chance to name. [that's classified info]
I'm just such an all-over Placebo fan, i've taken time to understand all the different stages that happened with the band and that's what i mean about relating to the older fans in that way. (Though i do stand by that some newer fans only know or care about the new album and the new drummer. Which is fine, i'm not knocking it, i just prefer to be involved with all of the band's history and the present too.)

edit: the "disappointed to know" was directed specifically at Diana's comment about the core Placebo site having a favourite forum, in the sense that "unfortunately" for the owners of other sites, PFWW is gaining popularity. (And that of course "BUT", not all the members are happy with this and would rather it stayed a "family". It's really internal issues.)

Sorry if i've somehow managed to seriously confuse anyone, obviously i'm used to addressing the crowd in question and having to accustom to this place too.:blush-anim-cl:

What do you mean "what it used to be like for Placebo"?
It's not so much a question of old fans vs new fans. Just like on any rockbands' boards, the tone on most Placebo forums is harsh, and you're put to the test before being accepted. And of course you always have arrogant idiots who think they know so much better than you just because they joined earlier lol.

Good thing you're helping Steve. Let us know about it.

How long have you been into Placebo btw?

What do you mean "what it used to be like for Placebo"?
It's not so much a question of old fans vs new fans. Just like on any rockbands' boards, the tone on most Placebo forums is harsh, and you're put to the test before being accepted. And of course you always have arrogant idiots who think they know so much better than you just because they joined earlier lol.

Good thing you're helping Steve. Let us know about it.

How long have you been into Placebo btw?

"What it used to be like for Placebo" = the scene that surrounded them, what their music was about and the members as individual people. The makeup of the band in the sense of influence, what inspired their music. This isn't really a statement about Forrest/Hewitt or overlapping fans.

Of course i try not to see it as "old fans vs new" but we really do get a lot of this because of course everyone is entitled to be in love with the era/album of Placebo from which they first knew them.
I knew them since Meds (2006/7), but the older albums fascinated me more and it's been a steep climb to know the majority of "important" Placebo facts which often take years to learn. This is what i do for the things i love, it's a natural learning curve towards things, i'm getting it for Mika too (within two weeks). It does annoy me that some fans are so opinionated. But definitely in the community i am in, if you wanted the reasons that shaped my comment:

-fact: fans from before SWG era know "everything", and it's not a bad thing because otherwise i wouldn't know any of it either.:aah:
-fact: a lot of original fans disliked the Meds album. Some of them have come back since BFTS because they've regained their respect for the band.
-fact: there are still arguments about the two Steves (which i find unnecessary as "Sunshine" Forrest is in no way attempting to be any other person than himself, and Beanie seems so happy with his new project that the argument shouldn't get in the way so much)

^ and that's partly why i'm starting the forum for him because in that case the membership is optional, and people who don't want to follow Beanie anymore can stay on the Placebo forums and ignore him. I offered him the opportunity also to contest to me any topics which he finds distasteful, and basically it won't be a Placebo discussion, but a discussion of the new project whatever it shapes up to be, and a peaceful atmosphere.

And again i'm sorry if i sound like i'm having a go at anyone, it seems to take me a lot of words to explain sometimes because i'm never very sure how many people i'm explaining to so i have to assume "all of you", and it's not directed spitefully to anyone here or on other forums, i like to stay good buddies with Placebo's rainbowy fans.

I dont feel like you're having a go at me lol. I just find the way you say things a bit cryptic at times, probably because I'm a foreigner, this is why I asked you to elaborate ;)

But see what I find so weird about some fans communities is this impression you have to dissecate everything and know everything to be a "fan". I've known Placebo almost since the moment they were formed, because they made a real buzz here. My country desperately lacking "local" bands and Brian being born in Brussels made it so they were labelled a Belgian band at first (I know, it's funny) and all teens immediately heard of them. But I never gave a real damn about sthg else than their tracks. And I still don't. Getting to know a band too well can kill the magic, sometimes, for me at least. This is why I'm reluctant to joing PWWF, and barely post on City. I read PWWF, and found the atmosphere a bit weird, with a lot of people showing off as if they were Placebo knowledge tanks. Good for them if they are, but if you have to know what Molko eats at breakfast to be accepted, thank you, but that's nothing for me ;)

^ hahaha as an inside member of PFWW, i found your point has made my day, because it is exactly right, and i'm glad we had this exchange of views because it's a while since i looked at it from the outside, and it is really rather too deep sometimes which is why i'm diverting Beanie's cause from 'Bo forums in general because it will do his group no favours to be only accessible inside tight-knit groups of SuperFans.

The forum's run like a tight ship and only has one active admin, which is to be applauded of course - but it's far from the fluffy cuddly discussions i've seen going on here, and sometimes really all i want is to feel like a 13 year old kid and talk about how nice someone sings and their pretty hair.:teehee: Rather than cold metallic "on topic" discussion which descends into arguments.
I bet there's no "drama" on MFC, because people here aren't taking themselves too seriously. (Of course not a knock to PFWW which i love, but already i find this forum is more adaptable and snuggly.) Though obviously Mika's community is going to be different... he's a whole other horse on the carousel than Cebo, and i acknowledge that.:wink2:

Now I hope you ain't saying you like Brian's new hairstyle cause if so, we are really gonna disagree and engage in a bitchy debate about how he should or shouldn't shave his skull. Brian's hair is a VERY TOUCHY subject in this thread :sneaky2:

haha no, i was rather thinking of a note i read about not boinging Mika's curls. :aah: my brother has curly hair also so i know obviously how irritating the poor guy would find it.
I've seen my fair few "Bring Back Short Haired Brian Back" petitions, and "Bring Nancy Boy Back", "Bring Back The Molko Mullet" arguments to even bother having an opinion. It might surprise you to find there are a lot of things i don't have an opinion on, other than it's crazy when people take it so seriously...:teehee:

I'm not going to quote everything, will just explain my own views.

Like I said, it's more me being pissed off at placeboworld because they said they would link us and they didn't.
I don't have anything against new fans, I don't think one should know how long Brian takes brushing his teeth to be a fan.
If you like the music, I'm ok with you.
Also, regarding new Steve, I think he's a better drummer than old Steve and he seems to be a lovely chap.
I'll always prefer old Steve because he was in the band I fell in love with but that doesn't mean I have any hard feelings towards Steven F.

I don't want to join PFWW because I made a Placeboforum with some friends in 2003 because the official Placebo forum (the brick ****house) was taken down and we felt homeless. So even though it's dead, I want to stay loyal to my old board.

'fraid it's just the kinda thing people on other forums add to their sig... then they add the names of other member friends who also would sign the petition.
We can do that here easy peasy, though somehow odd looks will be exchanged at signatures involving Placebo bandcest/old songs/hairstyles being begged for.:aah:

You are right, you know. I can identify with a lot of the things you said. And i think the culter a band is, the more "essential" tooth-brushing times become to the obsessed fanbase... i don't think it's necessary if it has nothing to do with the band and their music. I'll never understand the types who wanna know what school Brian's son attends or what brand of deodorant they all use... it's creepy.

Thank you :teehee: i didn't expect that.
Well aha if you look at the lengths on his hair, it's all relative to the comparative length it was before so i think it was frazzled by straightening and needed to cut, same as mine (i used to have it like his was before he cut it..lol maybe he saw me at the Roundhouse or smth).:roftl:
I think he felt a bit iffy from Fan Bullying "Brian's new hair/ponytail/sideburns are horrible" and he wanted to scare us by showing how much worse it can be and then grow it again :aah: He's still so pretty though. I just don't like 21st Cenutry Emo Beatnik on him.
