I wanted to share this information that I read a couple days ago! A guy from the board queenzone posted it and if this is true, I think it is awesome!
"Hey everyone! Just came by to tell you that I went to the Paul Rodgers concert near Atlanta, GA on Friday, the 13th. First off, Paul looks great. He was wearing the same pants from ROTC with a tight white t-shirt. Looked like he'd been seriously working out. The concert was wonderful and Paul sounded fantastic, vocally. Really hit some high, high notes. Solid. Ok, anyway, this venue was really jazzy. Very nice. There was an open-air lounge/bar to the left of the seating and there I ran into a guy wearing a backstage pass. So I approached him...
...Turns out he's Paul's lighting engineer. The same lighting engineer for the Q+PR tours. Very chatty guy. I asked him if he'd be returning for their next tour. He told me that yes, he would. Naturally my next question was "when does the tour start?" His answer was this:
"THE NEXT QUEEN AND PAUL TOUR? THE BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR. THEY DON'T WANT TO GET BURNED OUT ON TOURING, SO THEY'LL BE BACK ON THE ROAD IN EARLY 2008."
The guy went on to tell me that he is working for Paul on his current US tour, has three weeks off and is then working with LL Cool J on his upcoming tour. He'll then again have time off, after which he'll resume work with Queen + Paul Rodgers. So, I guess if we keep up with the LL Cool J tour, we can sort of from the last date when the next Q+PR tour might kick off. Can't wait!"

One of my favorite songs from Queen's later years:
Let Me Live
Three four
Ooh
Take a piece of my heart
Take a piece of my soul
Let me live
Oh yeah
Why don't you take another little piece of my heart
Why don't you take it and break it
And tear it all apart
All I do is give
And all you do is take
Baby why don't you give me
A brand new start
So let me live (So let me live)
Let me live (Leave me alone)
Let me live, oh baby
And make a brand new start
Why don't you take another little piece of my soul
Why don't you shape it and shake it
'Til you're really in control
All you do is take
And all I do is give
All that I'm askin'
Is a chance to live
(So let me live) - So let me live
(Leave me alone) - Let me live, let me live
Why don't you let me make a brand new start
Yeah, and it's a long hard struggle, yeah yeah
But you can always depend on me
And if you're ever in trouble - hey
You know where I will be
Why don't you take another little piece of my life
Why don't you twist it and turn it
And cut it like a knife
All you do is live
All I do is die
Why can't we just be friends
Stop livin' a lie
So let me live (So let me live)
Let me live (Leave me alone)
Please let me live
(Why don't you live a little)
Oh yeah baby
(Why don't you give a little love...?)
Go for it baby
Let me live
Please let me live
Oh yeah baby, let me live
And make a brand new start
Let me live (Let me live)
Ooh yeah (Let me live)
Come on (Let me live ooh)
In your heart, oh baby
(Take another piece, take another piece)
(Take another piece, take another piece)
Ooh please let me live
(Take another piece, take another piece)
(Take another piece, take another piece)
Why don't you take another piece
Take another little piece of my heart
Oh yeah baby
Make a brand new start
Baby baby
Baby baby
Baby baby
Baby baby
All you do is take, take
Let me live
(Let me live)
Oh yeah let
Let me live
I love how Freddie, Roger, and Brian all sing lead on this one. :wub2:

Guess Im a bit late here, cant we be called the royal family? ooh what song can I use to express, see what a fool ive been...
Well she's gone dear
Gone this morning um yes
Ow - see what a fool I've been - oh Lord
Cutchie cool
What a fool I've been
Yes I dig it
Too much
Didn't leave me no letter
Didn't leave no warning
You naughty thing you - ooh
Well I guess I am to blame - oh lord
I guess I'm all to blame
See you later singer boy
Child - right now - take it
How my little dog ain't too hungry - no no
He just kept on barking viciously
Just don't seem the same - oh no no
It just - oh tell us - it don't feel the same - ooh
See you later now
Now hit it - like that
Coming on strong
Oh
Oh, well I got so lonely
When I told my neighbour
She said
Ooooh, oh lord what a fool I've been
And then she told me what to do
She said - go home
Well she's gone
Gone this morning
See what a fool I've been - oh lord
What a foo-o-o-o-o-o-ool I've been
Thank you

Lyrics
No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young)
A hand above the water
An angel reaching for the sky
Is it raining in Heaven -
Do you want us to cry ?
And everywhere the broken-hearted
On every lonely avenue
No-one could reach them
No-one but you
One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flying to close to the sun
And life goes on -
Without you...
Another tricky situation
I get to drowning in the Blues
And I find myself thinking
Well - what would you do ?
Yes! - it was such an operation
Forever paying every due
Hell, you made a sensation
(sensation)
You found a way through - and
(You found a way through)
One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flying to close to the sun
We'll remember -
Forever...
And now the party must be over
I guess we'll never understand
The sense of your leaving
Was it the way it was planned ?
And so we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time
There's a face at the window
And I ain't never, never saying goodbye...
One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flying to close to the sun
Crying for nothing
Crying for no-one
No-one but you

:tears: here the lyrics of "A winter's tale", and also the video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vCYkTx_5us
"A WINTER'S TALE"
It's Winter-fall
Red skies are gleaming - oh -
Sea-gulls are flyin' over
Swans are floatin' by
Smoking cimney-tops
Am I dreaming...
Am I dreaming...?
The nights draw in
There's a silky moon up in the sky - yeah -
Children are fantasising
Grown-ups are standin' by
What a super feeling
Am I dreaming...
Am I dreaming...?
Woh-Woh-Woh-Woh
(dreaming)
So quiet and peaceful
Tranquil and blissful
There's a kind of magic in the air
What a truly magnificent view
A breathtaking scene
With the dreams of the world
In the palm of your hand
(dreaming)
A cosy fireside chat
A little this, a little that
Sound of merry laughter skippin' by
Gentle rain on my face
What an extraordinary place!
and the dream of the child
is the hope of the man
It's all so beautyful
like a landescape painting in the sky - yeah -
mountains are zoomin' highter - mm -
Little girls scream an' cry
My world is spinnin' and spinnin' and spinnin'
It's unbelievable
sends me reeling
Am I dreaming...
Am I dreaming...?
Oooh - it's bliss.
here Freddie gives his soul....

And A Winter's Tale is abeautiful song. Most of the songs from Made In Heaven seem really optimistic, but I find it really difficult to listen to that album. It's the same with Innuendo. There's so much baggage with those two albums that I find it too sad to listen to them.

yes it's really hard to listen to these songs (watchin' video is even harder...)
The harder thing is to hear the voice of Freddie so tired, and no more powerful but now delicate and thin( as in "don't try so hard"...)
in made in heaven he hardest to listen to is "It's a beautyful day"...his voice is very tired here (When he sings "And no-one's gonna stop me now...mama")...and it seems an optimistic song...but it isn't...

We can also have Queeniac members who want to wear the name of Queen in their sigs! This can be the place to talk about the Kings of Rock! :)

Martin, I have seen brian May a good few times in concert and roger twice, they were both awesome, totally amazing, brilliant! I also saw them at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert ..amazing, that was so emotional!!
i saw queen with paul rodgers but that just didnt cut it for me without fred, still worth seeing though, but i prefer them doing solo stuff when fred is not there, Lots of ppl obviously really loved paul rodgers at the concert and what a task he took on but he is no where near a freddie, I kept meeting up with Queen fans in the loos when he was doing one of his songs! :naughty: never saw Queen, too young at their last tour worst luck, but have met Brian:biggrin2:

I know some people don't dig Paul Rodgers, but we fans have to be thankful enough for him in the fact that he was instrumental in getting another Queen tour together and he is also a huge part as to why Queen is doing another record right now. I can't express enough just how thankful I am for him.
You als ohave to leave the Freddie/Paul comparisons at the door. Paul does not want to be Freddie, nor do Brian and Roger want him to replace Freddie. This is impossible. So I say just enjoy the Queen for what they are bringing to the table. I would much rather have Queen than not have any at all.
I also hope to see them again on their upcoming tour. :)

I'm still up in the air about the whole Paul Rodgers deal...I'll be glad for new music from Roger and Brian, but I think they could have resurrected Queen without Paul, since both Roger and Brian are excellent singers. Roger would easily be able to handle the harder rock side of the band, and Brian could stick to the softer stuff. But still, I'm willing to give Queen + Paul Rodgers a try.:naughty:

I really enjoyed his performances of his songs at the Queen concert. I wasn't very familiar with any of his band's stuff, so that was cool!

You have to consider, though, that Paul is bringing in a huge amount of the fanbase too. I often wonder if Brian and Roger would be able to sell as well if they went on alone. I know there are some faithful Queen fans (myself included!), but who knows how well they would do when on their own. I imagine they would do great in the UK and other European countries, but I highly doubt the two of them would make huge dents here in the States. This is sad, but true, I think. :(
So what I mean to say is, Paul is doing a lot with bringing in his fanbase. I think the combination of Paul and Queen is great because the fans double when you combine the numbers. Just my two cents though.

I disagree. I think Queen can live on. Brian and Roger still have it in their hearts to perform and I believe that they are carrying Freddie and John's legacy on through performing Queen's music. Saying Queen is no more isn't right, because Brian and Roger are doing their best to be content with touring and they are trying to give the faithful fans more thing to enjoy.
Not only that, if Brian and Roger don't perform anymore or make new music, Queen will be dead completely. I for one, do not want that.

I agree totally with you, Blue Sky. I think that Brian and Roger simply still have an immense desire to tour and put out new music and I think they feel Paul is the perfect person to help them do this. Honestly, I get frustrated by the comments about how Paul is replacing Freddie or how Freddie will never be replaced. We all know Freddie is irreplacable! I say enjoy the Queen that we have now for what it is and don't let the fond memories of the past die out. Because if fans are constantly thinking about how the Queen we have now is so inferior to as it was before, we're just making Brian and Roger's endeavors even harder to accomplish.
I also agree that we are lucky to have Queen at all! I will never knock the guys for the choices they've made and will always be thankful for Paul because he made it possible for me to see my heroes in concert!

Hmm, well, from my experience with Queen vids, I would say that interviews with Freddie from the 70s would be harder to find than later interviews. I would imagine a lot of the interviews he did in the 70s were mostly for mags and papers. :-(
But I'm with you, I'd love to see some really old interviews with Freddie from say, 74. :)

I have a good book called Queen in their own words, and the quotes from the interviews are classics.
I love Roger Taylor's quote..." we don't want to become old, rich and useless" see an interview with him here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GrZ_M2-DAg
and for some top Freddie interviews, put in a youtube search for the username arcadata, and go to arcadata's page and get quite a few of them...
eg.

or search the username tanterdimaleddeon and find more.... between the two there is enough to keep you happy for hours!!

Advantages Everything Freddie did solo
Disadvantages Expensive
Just to begin with, this is the Ten CD, Two DVD version of the solo collection, that comes in a very nice large hardback book, the other more popular version is the 3 CD set with selected tracks form this version (which is also a whole lot cheaper).
When I first heard about this collection I was overjoyed, I’ve been a Queen fan for several years, in fact, and sadly, just after Freddie Mercury died. Its interesting to note that I haven’t met a person who hasn’t liked their music, which is probably why Queen are so successful. I have to say that anytime I hear their music I fall in love with it all over again, there is a certain something about it, that makes you feel so good inside (well it does me anyway).
So as the natural progression goes, I started to buy their solo stuff as well, not that there is that much of it about; unlike some bands, the members of Queen grew to respect each other, and they all had an equal footing within the group, they all wrote, played and sang (John Deacon though, only ever backing, (if that)), and each has written a major hit.
As for Freddie, most of his solo work was done in the mid eighties to the early nineties. As it was Freddie was forced to stop touring with Queen due to illness, and so used the time to do some solo stuff while he could, he also worked on Queen albums, and sadly he died on the 24th November 1991.
Freddie has a fantastic voice and is a fantastic singer, his on stage presents is awesome, and he was a prolific song writer and great musician. If there was anybody I’d would want to be, it’d probably be him.
This collection costs around £125.00, which disappointed me a lot because I’d never get it, but I allowed my wife to persuade me to let her get it for me, for Christmas, we ordered it over the Internet, otherwise I think you have to ask the shop if they could get it for you, or make do with the cheaper 3 CD version.
The Freddie Mercury Solo Collection
This Consists of,
Freddie’s three solo albums,
Mr Bad Guy
The Great Pretender
Barcelona
Two Singles Collections
1973 - 1985
1986 - 1993
The Instrumentals
Three Rarities CD’s
The David Wigg Interviews CD
The DVD’s are,
The Video Collection
The Untold Story
And it all comes in a very nice hard back book.
The CD’s
The solo albums are brilliant in themselves, lets face it you all must of heard ‘Living On My Own’ and ‘Barcelona’, two great examples of his solo work. Although I say three solo albums, ones solo, ones with Monserrat Caballe, and the thirds a best of (the American version, the British being The Freddie Mercury Album). So there’s not a lot, the best of has some tracks that aren’t on the other albums, which is why its here, some of his songs also turned up on a Queen album, reworked, which together utilised the last work that Queen were working on.
The Singles Collections, are nice too, they mostly consist of Extended, Single and Re-mix versions of his singles, as well as none album B-sides, the nicest part is the fact that his first single from 1973 is included, ‘I Can Hear Music’ by Larry Lurex.
The Rarities are probably the best part of the collection, much like the Beatles anthologies and such that come out now, these three CD’s contain a lot of tracks that you can only get in this package, including early takes, demo’s, re-mixes, alternative versions, tracks that never made it, music that he did with other people, and one of the best pieces (but not sounding that good), is a live performance of when he was in a band called Ibex , singing ‘Rain’ by the Beatles. So there is plenty of stuff that you want to listen to, to see how the songs developed, hear the early demo’s and to hear ‘new& #8217; songs, being the ones that were never finished.
The Instrumentals are mostly instrumental versions from the Barcelona album, although there are a couple of instrumentals of other songs.
The Interviews are ones with David Wigg stretching from 1979 to 1987. Not great in themselves, but still.
The DVD’s
The Video Collection, the videos are ones from his singles, eleven altogether, again its nice to see. To have them is nice, on DVD is great.
The Untold Story is a documentary, it has been shown on TV, but this version is almost twice as long and its very informative. It tells of Freddie’s life from his early years in Zanzibar, to his later years in England, one thing is that it almost completely leaves out Queen, but if I wanted to know about Queen, I’d watch a Queen documentary. This is however, very interesting and told me things I never knew. Also on this DVD is the Freddie Mercury Photographic Exhibition, which you can view on you PC (if you have a DVD ROM drive)
The Book
The 120 page hard back book comes in a slip case, and the CD’s/DVD’s are inside the covers. The book itself gives you all the information of the music on the CD’s/DVD’s, which is great (details I love). There is a piece of writing about Freddie and the rest of the book is made up of lots of very nice photo’s, taken at various time of Freddie’s life.
Having this Collection is great, it looks great and its a really nice thing to own, as any boxed set of something you like is, this though, is exceptional, its been put together very lovingly and is really worth the price, unlike some quickly thrown together sets.
Quibbles?, well having the CD’s and DVD’s in the book and not having a case for themselves, meaning to listen to them you have to get them out of the book first and have to look in the book for the track listing as well, is a little troublesom e, and the fact that I have two of the albums anyway.................... but really I love it.
Being a Queen completist, I’m now a Freddie Mercury completist, because this seems to have all his work apart from Queen on it, so if you really like Queen you’ve got to get this, its fantastic.
So it has all this, but is it worth the money Fred? Whats the best thing in the rare collection is it stuff that you really cant get hold off, I already have alot? Im not interested in those dodgy eighties remixies:roftl: I have Freds solo stuff in so many formats already I dont need anymore! I think I have about 5 versions of Mr bad guy (inc one i got before it was released here, so an import i suppose)3 Barcelona... It would feel overly self induldant for me to but anymore if there is no a really good reason, any info appreciated:biggrin2:

Which Queen song would you play at your wedding??? (if you get married duh)

I am probably going to play:
An instrumental of Love Of My Life. Even though this is a song about heartbreak, I think an piano version of this would be lovely. And despite it being a "sad" song, it has a truly sentimental and heartfelt vibe to it, which I have always loved.
I will also be playing I Was Born To Love You (even though this is actually a Freddie song, but still).
I'm sure my wedding reception is going to be crammed with all things Queen, though...LOL!!!
violetsky
18-05-2007, 09:52 AM
On my wedding I would play:
You take my breath away
Love of my life
You're my best friend
Somebody To Love
Spread Your Wings
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Save Me
Las Palabras De Amor
A Kind Of Magic
One Year Of Love
Who Wants To Live Forever
Bijou
You see a lot of Queen on my wedding :roftl: :roftl: I would love to hear all these songs on my wedding althoug the lyrics don't always fit :wink2:

It's funny how one of my goals at the Tokyo MIKA show was to meet him, but when Queen and PR came here, I never thought that for a minute. They just seem so much more unreachable.
And I will never think I'm gonna meet someone famous ever again, after the crushing disappointment of NOT meeting Mika in Tokyo...I mean, c'mon, I was the ONLY one at the outside performance holding a MFC poster, MTV even put my photo on their website.... and he still didn't speak to me!!! AAAAAH!
Sometimes you have to protect yourself from the disappointments in life. I guess I was mad at myself for not doing that last weekend.

I guess I have the advantage of living in the 'home country' but agree that meeting Brian is never a likely scenario. Having said that, I managed it last December - twice in the same week! :biggrin2: At one time, I never thought it possible because I wasn't going to do it by hanging around stage doors, which I've never done in my life and don't intend to start now...so Mika looks an equally unlikely prospect...but I know now that it can be done so maybe one day...:wink2:

- One of John's bass guitars.

mandilambi
29-06-2007, 03:52 AM
My favorite will always be A Night at the Opera. It was my first Queen album (not including Greatest Hits) and I've also always loved 70's Queen the best. It's such a diverse record...simply amazing... :)
You?

Ooh, yes! That one was also my first album not including Greatest Hits.
My favourite though is A Day At The Races. It's brilliant!

A Day At the Races is a close second with me....really, you could almost say they were a two-piece just because they go by the same themes, in a way. Millionaire Waltz is genius. And Long Away is my fave Brian song. :)

Yes!! I love You And I, White Man, and Teo Torriatte. Ah, they're so amazing.
I know John only wrote a few songs, but he was an excellent writer!!!
Spread Your Wings is my favourite Queen song!

Basically all of the 70s albums are above the 80s albums in terms of my favorites! lol You really can't go wrong with their 70s work...it's all great. :)
Hmm...my fave song would be a toss-up between Bo Rhap and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy.

As for the 80's, it was still good! But I think their best 80's album was The Works. I love Is This The World We Created? So meaningful! haha

Thanks mandilambi!! It's an honor to be Queeniac #36 (almost 39, haha).
My favourite is and will ever be Brian, but of course Freddie is (I hate t talk about him in the past tense, as far as I'm concerned, he'll always be alive and by my side) special, the best, the most talented and flamboyant of all rock stars, but I ave this special feeling for Brian.
What are your favourite Queen years? Mine are from Smile to 1980, esp. "Queen II" to "News Of The World".
Queenie

Queen II is the best album...*drools*
TheBlackQueen
30-06-2007, 02:51 PM
And "The March Of The Black Queen" (MY March:roftl: ) the best song, the origin of "BoRap". BTW, don't you think "Great King Rat" is a sort of origin of "The MArch" in a way? I love "Queen I" as well...

Honestly, I don't know why people are so tough on Hot Space! I think it's a pretty good album! Not their best, but it certainly wasn't horrible!
I love Staying Power! haha Makes me want to dance!!
Er, not to sound..picky or annoying or anything but I'm not on the Queeniac list on the first page. I was told I was #36. haha
I'll take 40, though!

Finkster, I'm so sorry I didn't add you! I can't figure out what happened, because I remember assigning you a number. My mistake! I will pm the other girls their new numbers, since you ARE the only #36!
I love Hot Space too. Though I can see why people didn't/don't like it. It doesn't have any of Queen's signature sound and it was put out at the height of when disco was hated. I still enjoy it though. Under Pressure is one of my fave Queen songs and Dancer is so much fun to dance to. :)
My fave video....hmmmmm...I'll have to think on that one.

Yea, I know what you mean. I can understand why people who grew up with Queen wouldn't like it as much since it wasn't the same Queen they grew up listening to.

Hello there!
Here are my results:
#1
Your a die hard Queen fan just like me. You have all their albums and know every little detail about them. You have a million posters and Queen gear, and would do anything to meet them and see them in concert. You just plain rock!
#2
You relate to It's A Beautiful Day. It's found on the "Made In Heaven" album. You are very optimistic and wont let people walk all over you. You will do anything to fullfill your dreams and will do so.
#3
You belong in the "I'm Going Slightly Mad" video. (what a surprise!) You are, well, going crazy, but are quite funny and entertaining. By the way, Freddie looks amazing in this video. (oh yes he does!)
#4
You are Somebody To Love!! Written by the amazing Freddie Mercury. It can be found on Queen's fifth album, A Day At The Races.
#5
You're in the It's A Hard Life video! You're in crazy clothes, but hey, great song!
So may I join your club?
