I just read today that she said she's touring the US starting April 1 and her schedule is open for the whole month so I'd expect some dates very soon.

She did all ages shows in Toronto so you might get lucky this time around. Keep an eye out.

The Clash cover enchanted me, really! Lily puts an unusual charm and sensibility in her interpretation. She even made me stand "Womanizer", and now i like the song!

Yeah she said in the summer that it wasn't even going to be on the album because she'd ripped it off and couldn't be bothered with the paperwork. :roftl:

I guess she sorted it out because they eventually gave her permission to use it.

I find the Fear sounds like a Barenaked Ladies song, although not in a ripped off way. It just sounds as if it has been written by them in the same way Billy Brown sounds like a Beatles song.

Generally speaking though no one has done anything truly original since the 1980s so everyone is subject to this criticism. It doesn't bother me as long as they do it well and are influenced by good music and not some crap I hated the first time around. :naughty:

I totally agree. It's just that her new album is one of few in which I find bits within almost each song of that I'm sure I have heard them elsewhere. She's probably really good with influences. However, I don't regret having bought it, it's really quite enjoyable.

Yeah, the enjoyable part is all that matters for me. I love just about everything Mark Ronson does from influencing the sounds on Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen's last albums to sampling other songs to make new ones or just plain covers. I like all the horns, sax, his artist/song choices, the new arrangements, etc.

But something like Gym Class Heroes' Cupid's Chokehold makes me think "no talent hacks". I couldn't stand that Supertramp song when it was on the charts the first time and some monotonous talking over it doesn't do much to improve it.

She is the only one so far who comes even remotely close to Mika’s music imo(okay, I’m not counting Beatles now:naughty:).
Her way of singing makes it easy (easier) to register the lyrics and there’s something about the tunes, the melodies that immediately catches my ears and my attention!

After listening to a few interviews with her I’m so happy to establish that she has matured a lot and that is a thing I’ve been waiting for!

Many of the songs are, like you put, it pieces of art.

But my weak spot is and has always been this kind of melodic songs, not a wall full instruments but where you can distinguish them from each other and sung in a way that you get a chance to hear what the song is about....

It really was an awesome concert...we had good spots in the second row although we only went to the venue at 7:15 pm (doors opened at 8 pm).

I didn't expect her voice to be so good when she sings live - her songs are amazing live!
She did all of the songs of her 2nd album (I think) plus her biggest hits and "Oh my god" (Kaiser chiefs cover), plus "Womanizer" (Britney cover).

She had a couple of puffs of her ventolin after the first song, and by the third song was lighting up a fag!:boxed:
The Tokyo security is so strict, they were taking cameras away again, but I have been developing this method of secretly filming gigs lately with the camera against my (ample) chest, which conceals the light from the back, but also prevents me seeing what is recording!!:naughty:

Anyway, I didn't dare get it out till the encore for Lily, when she did Smile, The Fear and Womanizer, which are my 3 faves anyway. She was really good.

Yep. Staying two nights in CBD. Seeing Lily on Friday. We've (Bec, DC and I) applied to be on Rove to watch her perform, which is on the Sunday. Hopefully we get to go to that too. Waiting on an email from them.

I saw Lily Allen last weekend. Was in the front row thanks to a fellow Mikamite being obsessed with front row-ness. :naughty: We lined up from 4:30pm and I was 9th in line. I got lots of good pics. I really like her more than I did before I went (which always happens with me anyway :teehee: )

I only filmed a part of LDN because I was having too much fun to think about that. There was a point where Lily said she could smell someone smoking, and she told them off (without knowing who it was) and said that she felt like a smoke because of it. So a heap of people threw smokes on stage at her and then she told them to stop throwing them at her. A few lighters were thrown on stage as well. At one point she passed her half full glass to the girls in the centre of the front row and the person behind them quickly stole the straw out of the glass. :naughty:

Smokes, red shoes and the glass of unknown substance that got given away.

You'd enjoy it, though she pretty much just walks from side to side of the microphone to begin with, but towards the end she started dancing around more.

Nothing compared to Mika dancing all over the place. :naughty:

Lily had a gig on the EXIT festival in Novi Sad on the 9th :boing: Sadly I wasn't there, but I watched her gig on telly and it was FANTASTIC! She was so spontaneous, so relaxed and her communication with the crowd is just amazing. I loved the part when she just dragged a cigarre out of her pocket and started smoking,like there was nothing happening :naughty::wub2:
She played like, 9-10 songs - most from the 2nd album except "Smile" and "The Littlest Things". :thumb_yello:

LILY ALLEN has confirmed she will never make another album.
The Smile singer made the announcement on her new blog - called It's Not Alright, which aims to stop people file sharing music on the internet - revealing she has no plans to release new songs or tour again.

She wrote: "Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record. I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.

"The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I'm concerned, so I don't stand to profit from legislation. Except future purchases of previously recorded material."

The 24-year-old star is now focusing on her appearance in a London theatre production called 'Reasons to be Pretty', which follows a group of working-class people who are bored with their lives.

It is not the first time Lily has voiced her desire to give up her singing career.

Earlier this month, she said: "I'm not going record and tour again for quite a while.

"I finish up my dates in March and I'll be ready to do something else. I've been on the road for four years and I've given my voice a real run for its money. I'm struggling, so I'm going to try something new.

"The play is about themes close to my heart, about the really damaging cult of beauty among young girls."

Ok, I usually don't wish musicians any 'happy something' but I just wanna spend some words about Lily; I think she's the only young singer around brave enough to resort not to sex expedients in her videos and gigs. What female singer refuses to use them? I see so many wagging tongues, exposed boobs, crotches, bottoms, craving for scandalize and stuff like that...I mean: in the '**** you" video Lily doesn't appear at all, she probably can afford it.

I actually heard of Lily Allen before Mika and saw her first gig in North America in 2006. Mika's old guitarist went on tour with her while Mika was working on his second album.

I don't recall her every playing the piano. Do you know of any videos?
