I wish I could read the japanese language. I know some forms of Hiragana and katakana, but no Kanji. For now I shall stick to Romaji...i dont even know that many Japanese words but hopefully sometimes I'll get the drift if I recognise one or two! :naughty:

Yup, this forum is full of info. A month won't do! By the time you finish reading the old stuff, there would be that much more new stuff posted. But it's a great forum with lots of MIKA info! Better find thread you like and stick to them. Also check "new posts."

sorry if i jump in here...but i've got a question. can someone explain what -san does it mean? and when you use it? i mean, i see it with names (jenny-san, for example :lol3:) but i can't get the rule behind it...can someone explain it??

The word 'san' is a suffix. It is kinda like Mr./Ms./Mrs. It has phonetically changed from 'sama', a more polite form. It shows respect or affection to the person/animal you mention.

In case of a child, pet, brothers/sisters, close family and friends, or someone /something we adore, we usually use 'chan' instead; e.g. Mika chan, Anakin-chan, my little rose chan (my dear little rose tree). By using chan we show affection to that person/animal/things. If I call him Mika sama, it surely would sound silly (lol). He is Mika chan.

So, in order of politeness,

1. sama (most polite form; usually we use it for clients/patients, someone you provide services)

2. san (most commonly used/versatile form; you can use this for someone you know/you do not know. But we do not use it when we mention our family, colleagues/bosses to a third-party)

3. chan (used in case of close relationship or someone very young)

For Freddie Mercury, I would rather use Freddie sama, lol!

Now I am in Melbourne, on my sister's non-JP computer, so can't even write any Nihongo, but Konnichiwa to all new/old Nihonjin fans, I am Blue Sky from Tokyo, the crazy addicted overwhelmed obasan who met Mika last Monday night, and have not been normal ever since.

I am sitting through the conference sessions here, gazing at my Mika pics ALL DAY...okashikunatchatta. Byoki mitai...hokano hanashi wa dekinakunachatte sa....

But I am converting all the conference attendees to Mika!! Very funny!!

I am totally crazy this summer, I go back on August 12 but come back to Australia on Aug 19 and then back again to Tokyo Aug 30. Believe me, I am unbelievably tired. I had 9 days in Chicago at a conference, 4 days in Tokyo, then the BIG MIKA DAY (which was one of the BEST days of my life) and next day flew to Australia for a 4 day conference which JUST finished today.

I feel just a little tiny bit like Mika on a world tour. Hotels, tickets, passports, bags, packing, repacking, computers that won't connect, different food and water!! The Lot!!

Tired but still VERY VERY HAPPY.:wub2:

Wow, the karaoke was SO MUCH FUN! 12(I think) people came including Yoshie and her friend. Got hear some interesting stories from mixi members, had a great lunch, and went Karaoke. Personally, I wanted to sing a bit more to MIKA and my other favorite singers but most of the time passed watching MIKA on the big TV at Karaoke and chatting again about him. But it was really great fun!!

It only requires us to check the forums most days for new Japanese members and welcome them, and help out with forum information if Japanese fans need help. Of course everyone can welcome new fans and answer questions, but we will keep a special look out.

This doesn't mean we are special or different from anyone else, we don't get tickets or presents or backstage passes!! We just offered to help out on MFC.:blush-anim-cl:

I knew about the calendar MIINA because someone posted about it on here, but haven't seen anything about the book of sheet music. I searched it online, and it looks like very basic piano music and vocals. Very expensive too, through amazon uk. It seems you can get it for much less on ebay or from the US.

I'm sorry for interrupting you, but I've got a question for you all. Not about Mika, allas. I'm a dutch student, and for my study I have to do an internship for 4 months. I would really like to go to Japan, but this is really difficult to arrange. Because of my study direction, I would like to work at a Japanese Koi farm. Does anybody of you if something can be possible for a dutch student? Because of languege problems etc. I've heard that the Japanese koi business is really close and they don't like "strangers", does someone of you know anything about that?

ショーの開催はPerez Hiltonのウェブサイトで公開され、会場の詳細についてはサイト内に様々なヒントが出されていました。
そして昨日、ビバリーヒルズのビバリー・ガーデン・パーク内に特設された移動式のアイスクリームショップで 参加者にリストバンドが配られました。

このEP『Songs For Sorrow』は、ミーカのウェブサイトにて５月25日にリリースされる。限定盤にはミーカが愛好するアー ティストたちがそれぞれ収録曲を解釈して制作したアートワークを収めたハードカバー本がついて いる。

参加アーティストには、ピーター・ブレイク、ポール・スミス、エス・デヴリン、ジム・ウッドリング、ソフィ ・ブラッカル、ジム・メドウェイ、タオ・ニュウ、リチャード・ホッグ、ハック・スカリー、ウォルター・ヴァ ン・ベイレンドンクなどがいる。

ミーカが、アコースティック・ナンバーを4曲収録したEPをリリースすることを発表した。「S ongs For Sorrow」と題されたEPは、ミーカのオフィシャル・サイト (http://www.mikasounds.com/)上 にて、5/25（月）から発売が開始されるという。このうち、限定ヴァージョンのEPには、ミーカのお気に入りのアー ティストたちが手掛けたアートワーク 集（ハード・カヴァー）が付くとのこと。参加アーティストにはポール・スミスやピーター・ブレイク、エス・ デヴリン、ジム・ウッドリング、ソフィー・ブ ラックオールらが名を連ねている。「本のアイデアは、これらの（EPの）曲の歌詞が基になっているんだ。曲 はダークなおとぎ話みたいな感じでさ。それで、 一緒にイラストをつけて出したらおもしろいんじゃないかって思ったんだ。僕の好きなアーティストたちにお願 いして、物語に彼ら独自の解釈を加えてもらって ね」とミーカはこのプロジェクトのいきさつを説明。一方で、EP自体については「すべてを捨てて基本に戻る という意味でも、僕にとってはいい作品だったと 言えるだろうね」と語っている。

‘Songs For Sorrow’は4つの新曲を含んだCDと共に美しく装飾された本として5月25日から購入可能だ。MIK Aが個人的に好きだという世界各国のアーティストやデザイナーがそれぞれに曲を解釈し、芸術的な作品に仕上 げている。
EP に描かれているのはピーター･ブレイク、ポール･スミス、Es Devlin、ジム･ウッドリング、アルベール･エルバス（ランバン）、Al Columbia、Sophie Blackall、ジム・メドウェイ、デイヴィッド･マッキー、リチャード･ホッグ、DaWack, Nilesh Mystry、Kerasacoet、タオ・ニュウ、ハック･スカーリー、ウォルター･ヴァン･ベイレンド ンクなどによる最新作のイラストだ。
本のリリースに先駆けて5月14日から‘Songs for Sorrow’の3曲がMIKAの特設サイトからダウンロード可能になる。

I checked Tower Records today too, and their listing is also for Sept 16th. If it is true, I will be running in to buy it then, for sure!!:wink2:

Also, I contacted the DJ on InterFM through her blog, and she kindly replied to me that she has not aired the Mika interview yet, it will coincide with the release of the new album, so I guess we will hear it in September. We better keep watching the InterFM schedule.:thumb_yello:

Do you think it was decided that "We are golden" is the title of new album ? Did he decided? or...a temporary title?

I wrote to HMV last week to ask them to confirm the release date, as Japan is going to get the album a few days earlier it seems, and I am sure that will be incorrect. They will probably write to us later and say it was delayed, even though we know their date is probably wrong!

Interesting that he has included a track from Sadlers wells on the JP edition...wonder which one..and I wonder what the bonus track is....maybe something off the EP.

Title is still not fixed according to Mika in radio interviews this week...

Now, more importantly, on Italian radio yesterday and also while speaking to MFCers outside the radio station, he said he got this jacket in JAPAN!!!!

MIKA が他のあらゆるアーティストの誰とも異なっているというのは、今ではもう明らかなことだ。彼の苗字が「シン ギュラー（＝唯一無二）」だったとしても、不思 議はないだろう。群れることなく独立独歩の道を歩んでいる男性ポップ・スターは、彼の同世代には数少ないが 、自身で創り上げた想像性溢れる音楽ワールドを 身にまとっている彼は、まさしくその１人だと言える。幼少時よりクラシック音楽の教育を受け、複数の人種の 血が流れ、また芝居がかった身振りをしがちな彼 は、大仰な自己表現の系譜を受け継ぐ後継者となっている。MIKA曰く、彼の音楽を要約するのは簡単で、「 基本原則としては、喜びに溢れていて、聴いてる と力が湧いてくるようなもの。そして流行にも因襲にも追従しないもの」であり、昔ながらの、殆ど忘れられか けていたポップの概念を呼び起こしてくれるもの である。その概念とは、つまり"個性"だ。 もし彼のデビュー・アルバム『ライフ・イン・カートゥン・モーション』（LIFE IN CARTOON MOTION）が、その個性を断固として表明する名刺代わりだったとすれば、今回のセカンド・アルバムは、 彼が１人で創り上げてきた、物怖じしないポップ さ全開サウンドの成熟の表れだと言えよう。数オクターブを跨ぐその声、名演奏家の域に達するピアノ、ゴロゴ ロと鳴るリズムに、爆発的な各曲のフィナーレ、 人間の不安や自信のなさの核心を突くために誇張した物語仕立て、そして印象的な極彩色のポップ・プロダクシ ョン、その全てがしかるべき場所に配されている のだ。「今回のアルバム作りに取りかかった時、まず何よりも重要だと考えていたのは、（自分の身に起きたこ とに対する）反作用的な作品にはしないでいよ うってことだったんだ」と彼は語る。「僕は原点に立ち返らなくてはならなかった。つまり、僕が自然にやって いることに対して人々が意見を言ったりしていな かった頃に戻らなくちゃいけなかったんだよ」。万華鏡のようなMIKAのポップ・ドリームが放つ第２弾であ る、今回のセカンド・アルバムを一聴した時に、 まず頭に思い浮かぶ言葉は「大胆不敵」。 これ以外にはないだろう。 MIKAがポップ界における第一歩を踏み出したのは、大ヒット・シングル「グレース・ケリー」によってだ。 同シングルは全世界で約300万枚売り上げ、ダ ウンロードのみで全英チャートの首位に立った史上２番目のシングルであった。デビュー・アルバム『ライフ・ イン・カートゥン・モーション』からリリースさ れたシングルの総売上げは600万枚を超え、同アルバム自体のセールスもまた、500万枚を突破。それに加 え、MIKAは数々の音楽賞にノミネートされ受 賞を果たしてきたが、そこにはブリット・アウォーズやグラミー賞、アイヴァー・ノヴェロ賞を始め、キャピタ ル・レディオ、Ｑ誌、ワールド・ミュージック・ アウォーズ、BT＆ヴォーダフォン、ヴァージン・メディア、MTVヨーロッパ／アジア／オーストラリア／日 本などが含まれている。しかし数字や記録など は、彼がポップ・ミュージック論争に参戦した場合に、ポップ・ミュージックの本質を把握しているのは彼の方 だということを言外に仄めかすために使うもので しかない。要するに統計とは、ポップ界が生んだ最大のアウトサイダーであっても、そこを征服し得るのだとい うことを、手っ取り早く立証してくれる手立てな のだ。 カサブランカ／アイランドと契約するまで、数え切れないほどのメジャー・レーベルに散々酷評され、冷たくあ しらわれてきたMIKA。その経緯は「グレー ス・ケリー」の歌詞に詳しく描かれている通りだ。彼の成功は、一過性の流行に対する、ヴィジョンと中身の勝 利であった。同世代のポップ・スターに比べ、彼 は敢えて茨の道を歩んで来たと言えよう。それは彼が、レコード会社のお偉方を喜ばせることによって手っ取り 早い見返りを得ようとするのではなく、自らの ポップ原則にあくまでも拘ることによって、息長く続けていくという考えを大事にしていたからだ 。 第２作目に当たり、楽曲は変化したかもしれないが、彼のアティテュード自体は以前と変わりはない。即座に聴 き手の心を掴むサビが印象的な「We Are Golden」から、1940年代のディズニー映画を思い起こさせるナンバー（「Toyboy」）や、胸に ジーンと迫る80年代パワーポップの現代版 （「Touches You」）まで、歴史的な名作と触れ合うことをも快く受け入れる、視野の広さがそこにはある。またローラー スケート・ディスコのアンセム（「Rain」） から、個人的なトラウマ体験をメランコリックに追想する曲（「Dr John」）に至るまで、彼の音楽は、あらゆる矛盾や複雑な状況に満ちた21世紀に生きるということが何を 意味するかということに対する、率直かつ素直な 考え方に支えられている。もう一つ、MIKAの特別な所とは何だろうか？　それは彼がビッグになることを怖 れていない点だ。例えばロック界においては、 U2が築いてきた枠組みの虜になっているバンドの場合、アリーナの隅々まで行き渡るような感情表現を試みる ことでリスペクトされるが、ポップ界において は、自らを惜しみなく与える気前の良さというのは殆ど消え失せてしまっている。せいぜい自分たちのCDを実 際に買ってくれる見込みなどなさそうな読者層 の、男性誌のために肌を露出することも厭わない若い女性に残されてる程度だろう。MIKAはそんな状況を改 善しようとしているのである。 デビュー作に向けられた嵐のような賞賛や爆発的なセールスが明らかとなり、またアルバムを高く評価する人々 の生（ナマ）の声を受けて個人的な達成感を噛み 締めるようになった頃、ロスでアパートメントを探し、そこで次作の構想を練り、形にして、曲作りをすること にしたMIKA。そして洒落た部屋を見つけ、ロ ンドンの地下室を引き払ってロスに拠点を移した彼は、プロデューサーであり、彼にとっての音楽的共謀者であ るグレッグ・ウェルズと作業を開始した。その後 そこに介入してきたのが、MIKAの母親である。「母は僕に『快適過ぎる環境に身を置いてはいけない』って 言ってくれたんだ」と、MIKAは当時を振り返 る。それは息子としては無視することのできない、経験に富んだ者の含蓄ある言葉であった。それを受けて彼は 、デビュー作を生み出した原点である安ホテルへ と立ち戻ることに。圧倒的な魅力を放つ"MIKA物語"の第２部を作るに当たって、脚光の中で過ごしてきたきらびやかな２年の日々が教えてくれたこと の全 てを、彼は一旦念頭から消そうと心に決めたのだった。「僕にとってこれは、今も"ベッドルーム・ミュージック"（＝自分の寝室で思うがままに１人で作って いる、宅録音楽）なんだよね。ピアノの前に座り、自分が伝えなきゃいけないいことを表現するのが大事なんだ 」。 「ファースト・アルバムは僕にとって、」と言葉を続けるMIKA。「幼少時代を描いたものだった。そういう 無垢さがあったんだ。今回のアルバムはそこから 10年後が舞台で、青春時代の心境になっている。10代の青年期って、人生で一番輝かしい時期の一つなんだ よね。いわゆる人生経験、例えばセックスや、ド ラッグや、恋愛、そういったことがどれもまだ新鮮で、まだ汚れを知らない時期だってこと。自分がそういった ことを曲で表現しようと思ったら、より個人的な 体験に立ち返らなくちゃいけないと思ったんだ」。そこでMIKAは、今回の２作目では、架空のキャラクター を土台に物語を描いていた前作『ライフ・イン・ カートゥン・モーション』とは異なる路線を取ることにした。「僕は今でも神秘性を信じてるよ。それに自分の 人生についてはもう何ひとつ、正当化しなきゃい けない必要性を感じてない。なぜなら何もかもが僕の曲の中で表現されているからね。僕にとって曲作りという のは、自分自身を理解するための一つの方法なん だ」。 とはいえ、一人称で曲を書くことに関して、彼が少しも怯んでいなかったというわけではない。「喜びにはリス クが付き物なんだ。人は、何か事が起きた最初の 時のことをついつい忘れてしまいがちだし、それって危険なことなんだよね。僕は、自分自身についての曲を書 くということの現実に立ち向かわなくてはならな かった。怖かったよ。40年代のレヴュー歌手のように自らを描き出そうというつもりでないのなら、これは僕 が乗り越えなくてはいけないことだったんだ」。 この感覚に付随していたのが、批判を怖れないという、MIKAの昔からの信念であった。「ポピュラー・ソン グライターとして、ポップ・ソングの在るべき領 域から踏み出すことは許されないと考えるのは、近視眼的だよ。でないと笑われるから、って。でも僕にとって 、完全無欠のポップ・ソングっていうのは、いつ か手に入れたいとずっと夢見ていたジャケットを試着しているような気分を味わえるものでなくてはいけないん だ」。 MIKAの素晴らしさの肝は、彼自身が抱える様々な不安や悩みの相関関係を、自分の曲に登場するキャラクタ ーに仮託しながら突き止めようとしている所にあ る。彼らはお互いの違いに満足感を覚えたり、それと格闘したりしているが、それはMIKA自身が子供の頃か らしてきたことだ。そういった外層の部分は、今 回は別の物に置き換わっているが、よりオープンになったこの新たなパフォーマーにとっては、壮麗さにおいて も物語の筋立ての複雑さにおいても、今作が以前 に比べて劣る所は少しもない。それぞれの人間が抱える違いを小さなラメで飾り、それを讃え合おうじゃないか と人々に呼びかける"総動員令"は、昔からポッ プが音楽に授けてきた最も素敵な贈り物の一つである。MIKAは今回の作品でもまた、それぞれ特有の闇を描 き出しているが、中でも最も注目に値するのは、 「Dr John」の刺激的なメロディと、騒々しくも華麗な「Blame It On The Girls」の中心に据えられた、錯乱寸前のジレンマ状態だ。 反対に屈せず自分の意見を曲げなかったことにより、初めてのアルバムでMIKAが華々しい成功を収めたため 、レーベルの首脳からは「今回も彼に干渉しない ように」との個人的な命令が下されていたという。「僕はずっと護られているんだ。余計な外部からの干渉は一 切遮断されていて、本当に完全に１人にしてもら えたんだよ」。初めのうちはその孤独と折り合いをつけることに難しさを感じていたかもしれないが、彼はそれ を実に変わった方法で覆している。「規律正しさ が解決してくれたんだ。毎朝僕は10時にスタジオに行き、毎日同じ場所でランチを取って、それから毎晩７時 に同じパブに通ったんだよ」。MIKAには、広 範囲の事柄を一度に扱おうとする傾向があるが、その全てが１つの同じカメラで撮影した映像のように感じられ なくてはならないという。「僕が一緒に仕事をし ている人たち全員に、『自分たちが今存在しているのは、MIKAの世界の中だけだ』っていう共通認識がある んだ。僕らは他の音楽は一切聴かない。自分たち の世界だけに没頭するんだよ」。 今回のセカンド・アルバムの制作過程で、自分自身の一部を手放すことにより、自分の中の何かを解放すること ができたというMIKA。「解き放たれた気分だ よ。次なる場所に到達したんだ。そうする必要が僕にはあったし、３作目、４作目を作る上で、きっと役立つで あろう過程を克服した。ようやく僕は、自分の" 小さなベッドルームで作った作品"が、もはやベッドルームの中で終わる作品ではないのだという事実に、そして自分がソングライターなんだとい う事実に、折 り合いをつけられたんだと思う」。 それだけじゃない。最高の素晴らしいポップ・スターではないか。

GLOBALLY LOVED CANDY POP PRINCE MIKA will premiere the release of his second album in JAPAN!!!

I wrote to HMV last week to ask them to confirm the release date, as Japan is going to get the album a few days earlier it seems, and I am sure that will be incorrect. They will probably write to us later and say it was delayed, even though we know their date is probably wrong!

Interesting that he has included a track from Sadlers wells on the JP edition...wonder which one..and I wonder what the bonus track is....maybe something off the EP.

Title is still not fixed according to Mika in radio interviews this week...

Now, more importantly, on Italian radio yesterday and also while speaking to MFCers outside the radio station, he said he got this jacket in JAPAN!!!!

MIKA が他のあらゆるアーティストの誰とも異なっているというのは、今ではもう明らかなことだ。彼の苗字が「シン ギュラー（＝唯一無二）」だったとしても、不思 議はないだろう。群れることなく独立独歩の道を歩んでいる男性ポップ・スターは、彼の同世代には数少ないが 、自身で創り上げた想像性溢れる音楽ワールドを 身にまとっている彼は、まさしくその１人だと言える。幼少時よりクラシック音楽の教育を受け、複数の人種の 血が流れ、また芝居がかった身振りをしがちな彼 は、大仰な自己表現の系譜を受け継ぐ後継者となっている。MIKA曰く、彼の音楽を要約するのは簡単で、「 基本原則としては、喜びに溢れていて、聴いてる と力が湧いてくるようなもの。そして流行にも因襲にも追従しないもの」であり、昔ながらの、殆ど忘れられか けていたポップの概念を呼び起こしてくれるもの である。その概念とは、つまり"個性"だ。 もし彼のデビュー・アルバム『ライフ・イン・カートゥン・モーション』（LIFE IN CARTOON MOTION）が、その個性を断固として表明する名刺代わりだったとすれば、今回のセカンド・アルバムは、 彼が１人で創り上げてきた、物怖じしないポップ さ全開サウンドの成熟の表れだと言えよう。数オクターブを跨ぐその声、名演奏家の域に達するピアノ、ゴロゴ ロと鳴るリズムに、爆発的な各曲のフィナーレ、 人間の不安や自信のなさの核心を突くために誇張した物語仕立て、そして印象的な極彩色のポップ・プロダクシ ョン、その全てがしかるべき場所に配されている のだ。「今回のアルバム作りに取りかかった時、まず何よりも重要だと考えていたのは、（自分の身に起きたこ とに対する）反作用的な作品にはしないでいよ うってことだったんだ」と彼は語る。「僕は原点に立ち返らなくてはならなかった。つまり、僕が自然にやって いることに対して人々が意見を言ったりしていな かった頃に戻らなくちゃいけなかったんだよ」。万華鏡のようなMIKAのポップ・ドリームが放つ第２弾であ る、今回のセカンド・アルバムを一聴した時に、 まず頭に思い浮かぶ言葉は「大胆不敵」。 これ以外にはないだろう。 MIKAがポップ界における第一歩を踏み出したのは、大ヒット・シングル「グレース・ケリー」によってだ。 同シングルは全世界で約300万枚売り上げ、ダ ウンロードのみで全英チャートの首位に立った史上２番目のシングルであった。デビュー・アルバム『ライフ・ イン・カートゥン・モーション』からリリースさ れたシングルの総売上げは600万枚を超え、同アルバム自体のセールスもまた、500万枚を突破。それに加 え、MIKAは数々の音楽賞にノミネートされ受 賞を果たしてきたが、そこにはブリット・アウォーズやグラミー賞、アイヴァー・ノヴェロ賞を始め、キャピタ ル・レディオ、Ｑ誌、ワールド・ミュージック・ アウォーズ、BT＆ヴォーダフォン、ヴァージン・メディア、MTVヨーロッパ／アジア／オーストラリア／日 本などが含まれている。しかし数字や記録など は、彼がポップ・ミュージック論争に参戦した場合に、ポップ・ミュージックの本質を把握しているのは彼の方 だということを言外に仄めかすために使うもので しかない。要するに統計とは、ポップ界が生んだ最大のアウトサイダーであっても、そこを征服し得るのだとい うことを、手っ取り早く立証してくれる手立てな のだ。 カサブランカ／アイランドと契約するまで、数え切れないほどのメジャー・レーベルに散々酷評され、冷たくあ しらわれてきたMIKA。その経緯は「グレー ス・ケリー」の歌詞に詳しく描かれている通りだ。彼の成功は、一過性の流行に対する、ヴィジョンと中身の勝 利であった。同世代のポップ・スターに比べ、彼 は敢えて茨の道を歩んで来たと言えよう。それは彼が、レコード会社のお偉方を喜ばせることによって手っ取り 早い見返りを得ようとするのではなく、自らの ポップ原則にあくまでも拘ることによって、息長く続けていくという考えを大事にしていたからだ 。 第２作目に当たり、楽曲は変化したかもしれないが、彼のアティテュード自体は以前と変わりはない。即座に聴 き手の心を掴むサビが印象的な「We Are Golden」から、1940年代のディズニー映画を思い起こさせるナンバー（「Toyboy」）や、胸に ジーンと迫る80年代パワーポップの現代版 （「Touches You」）まで、歴史的な名作と触れ合うことをも快く受け入れる、視野の広さがそこにはある。またローラー スケート・ディスコのアンセム（「Rain」） から、個人的なトラウマ体験をメランコリックに追想する曲（「Dr John」）に至るまで、彼の音楽は、あらゆる矛盾や複雑な状況に満ちた21世紀に生きるということが何を 意味するかということに対する、率直かつ素直な 考え方に支えられている。もう一つ、MIKAの特別な所とは何だろうか？　それは彼がビッグになることを怖 れていない点だ。例えばロック界においては、 U2が築いてきた枠組みの虜になっているバンドの場合、アリーナの隅々まで行き渡るような感情表現を試みる ことでリスペクトされるが、ポップ界において は、自らを惜しみなく与える気前の良さというのは殆ど消え失せてしまっている。せいぜい自分たちのCDを実 際に買ってくれる見込みなどなさそうな読者層 の、男性誌のために肌を露出することも厭わない若い女性に残されてる程度だろう。MIKAはそんな状況を改 善しようとしているのである。 デビュー作に向けられた嵐のような賞賛や爆発的なセールスが明らかとなり、またアルバムを高く評価する人々 の生（ナマ）の声を受けて個人的な達成感を噛み 締めるようになった頃、ロスでアパートメントを探し、そこで次作の構想を練り、形にして、曲作りをすること にしたMIKA。そして洒落た部屋を見つけ、ロ ンドンの地下室を引き払ってロスに拠点を移した彼は、プロデューサーであり、彼にとっての音楽的共謀者であ るグレッグ・ウェルズと作業を開始した。その後 そこに介入してきたのが、MIKAの母親である。「母は僕に『快適過ぎる環境に身を置いてはいけない』って 言ってくれたんだ」と、MIKAは当時を振り返 る。それは息子としては無視することのできない、経験に富んだ者の含蓄ある言葉であった。それを受けて彼は 、デビュー作を生み出した原点である安ホテルへ と立ち戻ることに。圧倒的な魅力を放つ"MIKA物語"の第２部を作るに当たって、脚光の中で過ごしてきたきらびやかな２年の日々が教えてくれたこと の全 てを、彼は一旦念頭から消そうと心に決めたのだった。「僕にとってこれは、今も"ベッドルーム・ミュージック"（＝自分の寝室で思うがままに１人で作って いる、宅録音楽）なんだよね。ピアノの前に座り、自分が伝えなきゃいけないいことを表現するのが大事なんだ 」。 「ファースト・アルバムは僕にとって、」と言葉を続けるMIKA。「幼少時代を描いたものだった。そういう 無垢さがあったんだ。今回のアルバムはそこから 10年後が舞台で、青春時代の心境になっている。10代の青年期って、人生で一番輝かしい時期の一つなんだ よね。いわゆる人生経験、例えばセックスや、ド ラッグや、恋愛、そういったことがどれもまだ新鮮で、まだ汚れを知らない時期だってこと。自分がそういった ことを曲で表現しようと思ったら、より個人的な 体験に立ち返らなくちゃいけないと思ったんだ」。そこでMIKAは、今回の２作目では、架空のキャラクター を土台に物語を描いていた前作『ライフ・イン・ カートゥン・モーション』とは異なる路線を取ることにした。「僕は今でも神秘性を信じてるよ。それに自分の 人生についてはもう何ひとつ、正当化しなきゃい けない必要性を感じてない。なぜなら何もかもが僕の曲の中で表現されているからね。僕にとって曲作りという のは、自分自身を理解するための一つの方法なん だ」。 とはいえ、一人称で曲を書くことに関して、彼が少しも怯んでいなかったというわけではない。「喜びにはリス クが付き物なんだ。人は、何か事が起きた最初の 時のことをついつい忘れてしまいがちだし、それって危険なことなんだよね。僕は、自分自身についての曲を書 くということの現実に立ち向かわなくてはならな かった。怖かったよ。40年代のレヴュー歌手のように自らを描き出そうというつもりでないのなら、これは僕 が乗り越えなくてはいけないことだったんだ」。 この感覚に付随していたのが、批判を怖れないという、MIKAの昔からの信念であった。「ポピュラー・ソン グライターとして、ポップ・ソングの在るべき領 域から踏み出すことは許されないと考えるのは、近視眼的だよ。でないと笑われるから、って。でも僕にとって 、完全無欠のポップ・ソングっていうのは、いつ か手に入れたいとずっと夢見ていたジャケットを試着しているような気分を味わえるものでなくてはいけないん だ」。 MIKAの素晴らしさの肝は、彼自身が抱える様々な不安や悩みの相関関係を、自分の曲に登場するキャラクタ ーに仮託しながら突き止めようとしている所にあ る。彼らはお互いの違いに満足感を覚えたり、それと格闘したりしているが、それはMIKA自身が子供の頃か らしてきたことだ。そういった外層の部分は、今 回は別の物に置き換わっているが、よりオープンになったこの新たなパフォーマーにとっては、壮麗さにおいて も物語の筋立ての複雑さにおいても、今作が以前 に比べて劣る所は少しもない。それぞれの人間が抱える違いを小さなラメで飾り、それを讃え合おうじゃないか と人々に呼びかける"総動員令"は、昔からポッ プが音楽に授けてきた最も素敵な贈り物の一つである。MIKAは今回の作品でもまた、それぞれ特有の闇を描 き出しているが、中でも最も注目に値するのは、 「Dr John」の刺激的なメロディと、騒々しくも華麗な「Blame It On The Girls」の中心に据えられた、錯乱寸前のジレンマ状態だ。 反対に屈せず自分の意見を曲げなかったことにより、初めてのアルバムでMIKAが華々しい成功を収めたため 、レーベルの首脳からは「今回も彼に干渉しない ように」との個人的な命令が下されていたという。「僕はずっと護られているんだ。余計な外部からの干渉は一 切遮断されていて、本当に完全に１人にしてもら えたんだよ」。初めのうちはその孤独と折り合いをつけることに難しさを感じていたかもしれないが、彼はそれ を実に変わった方法で覆している。「規律正しさ が解決してくれたんだ。毎朝僕は10時にスタジオに行き、毎日同じ場所でランチを取って、それから毎晩７時 に同じパブに通ったんだよ」。MIKAには、広 範囲の事柄を一度に扱おうとする傾向があるが、その全てが１つの同じカメラで撮影した映像のように感じられ なくてはならないという。「僕が一緒に仕事をし ている人たち全員に、『自分たちが今存在しているのは、MIKAの世界の中だけだ』っていう共通認識がある んだ。僕らは他の音楽は一切聴かない。自分たち の世界だけに没頭するんだよ」。 今回のセカンド・アルバムの制作過程で、自分自身の一部を手放すことにより、自分の中の何かを解放すること ができたというMIKA。「解き放たれた気分だ よ。次なる場所に到達したんだ。そうする必要が僕にはあったし、３作目、４作目を作る上で、きっと役立つで あろう過程を克服した。ようやく僕は、自分の" 小さなベッドルームで作った作品"が、もはやベッドルームの中で終わる作品ではないのだという事実に、そして自分がソングライターなんだとい う事実に、折 り合いをつけられたんだと思う」。 それだけじゃない。最高の素晴らしいポップ・スターではないか。

I found that it would only accept one copy of the CD of LICM, one DVD of LICM, and one of PDP.:sneaky2: No matter which country (I have US, UK and Japanese) I also found I could validate better when I used Internet Explorer, not Firefox, it wouldn't work at all. If it still doesn't work, then let's ask them for more details.:blink:

今日は、フランスの雑誌 「L’EXPRESS」に依頼され、いろいろなデザイナーの新しい秋冬コレクションをミュージシャンのMI KAに着せて撮影しました。コヴェント・ガーデ ンにある、１９０３年に建てられたとても美しいNovello Theatreでの撮影です。４時間で１０カットも撮りましたが、とても素晴らしいできに満足しています。 雑誌が発売されるまで全貌をお見せできないのが 残念。
