I can´t believe we didn´t have this on here!!!!
OK, it´s your place to talk about the white duke, the chamaleon, GOD....
First of all, news!!!
BOWIE SET FOR DOCTOR WHO
Rock legend DAVID BOWIE is set to star in the next series of British TV series DOCTOR WHO, playing an alien.
Producers of the BBC show have targeted the Ziggy Stardust singer because of his "great other-worldly looks" according to reports.
British newspaper The Sun claims the 60-year-old will clash with actor David Tennant's Doctor in a two-part episode of the show, which will be aired next year.
A source tells the newspaper, "Bowie said he'd be interested as long as he's not subjected to hours of disfiguring make-up."

Waiting for official confirmation
And YES, we need a pic!! :wink2:

David Bowie is great, he's a legend, I like lots of his stuff (not really his 90s/00s stuff though).
My favourite Bowie tracks are Changes, Ziggy Stardust, Please Mr. Gravedigger (grim, but cracks me up every time when he sneezes), Heroes and I even like some of his 80s stuff, China Girl in particular. He has written some great songs and his voice is quite underrated too, he uses it like an instrument (or so my husband says, he's a much bigger fan than me!)
:thumb_yello:
Oh and he was hilarious in Extras - that 'Little Fat Man With The Pug Nose Face' song is pure comic genius (okay I know he didn't write it!!):roftl:

Freds, you broke my heart saying "bowie live is fab"...
I tried see him THREE TIMES between 2003-2004 and he cancelled everything..The worse part was when i was arriving to Toulouse, a friend of mine called me about the cancellation...and my other friends looked at my face and thought a relative was dead.
I´ll go to ANYWHERE to see him right now. Don´t care about the money, distance...

That will be great...
Robertina, i think he performs again...but not in a HUGE tour like reality one. Maybe a few selected concerts in Europe & USA (not Spain, of course)
The heart problems were when he cancelled 2 of my gigs (July 2004)

I was so busy having a birthday, I didn't have a chance
to read this thread until now!
Yet again, Robertina, we are nearly twins!
You surely have read that my three great teenage
loves were Freddie Mercury, Elton John and David Bowie? My bedroom
walls were covered with photos of them -- one wall for each... :wub2:
Imagine:
The year: 1976
Station to Station... The Return of the Thin White Duke
I was 16 and it was the second concert I ever went to. (The first was Elton
John the year before.) It was a big arena -- called the Civic Arena, in
Pittsburgh -- and somehow we had managed to get tickets about 20 rows
from the stage. I was beyond excited.
I remember the show started with a screening of
a short black and white Luis Bunuel film, Un Chien Andalou,
and there's a scene where a razor
blade cuts across an eyeball... Totally shocked me. (Hey, I was just 16!)
And then Bowie came on stage. There was a crush of people pushing
us forward. We ended up quite close to the stage eventually... and it
was just amazing. I just remember the starkness of the black backdrop
and this tall, slim white-haired man in a very neat white suit, almost
glowing as the spotlight shone on him... hmmm... almost reminds me
of someone else...
Believe it or not I've never seen him perform live since, but I've never
forgotten that night, or stopped loving him... :blush-anim-cl:
Oh my TVC 15... oh oh... TVC 15...

Oh my TVC 15... oh oh... TVC 15...
*sigh*
31 years ago... How is that even possible?

oh great lord, deb!
i'm shivering!
but let me tell you you were a lucky lucky teen!
the 70's in Italy could not offer any concert....it was difficult for us to have pictures (no internet then, you younger fans....) and we bought some uk imported magazine to droll on them!
just 'long players', vinil!!
i went to his concert in Milan..but it was the 'let's dance' phase and i missed all his glorious early songs!
i had an irish penpal then and she was so kinD to send me a whole bowie magazine and a pin...they are kept as relycs in my wardrobe!
deb...we look two real oldling telling stories from the past to our grand-children!!! :old:
I ENJOY THIS THREAD! :wub2: :wub2:

Wait a minute. How old are you? :wink2:
dcdeb
I'm 20 haha! So I assume The Hunger should be next on my list then for his films? :bleh: *notes it down quickly* :naughty:
I would so love to see him live in concert. Be a dream come true! I never thought seeing Brian May and Roger Taylor in concert would ever happen and yet it did, so maybe I will have luck to see Bowie too! :thumb_yello:

But..
I liked him as this..:wub2: :wub2:

(I love Labyrinth..:naughty:)
Labyrinth was too unintentionally funny for me to say that I "loved" it (I
remember how we rolled at the Bog of Eternal Stench, saying that was
the bathroom after my husband came out of it :naughty: ) but Bowie
any time is great, of course.
I'm surprised Sivan hasn't chimed in -- isn't Labyrinth her favorite film,
as well?

So I go to this Performing Arts school and it the last week, we just watched random movies and one of the rather-crazy ballet instructors brought in Labyrinth. It's one of his favorite movies, but the class he showed it to mainly consisted of inner-city, hiphop/rap loving underclassmen who just could not grasp the amazingness of Labyrinth, to put it nicely. But it was the funniest thing ever, because the instructor was just so into it.
In my painting class, we're doing watercolors. IFor smome reason, I'm thinking something Bowie themed. I'm not sure why, but he reminds me of watercolors and it just sticks out as an idea for me. Anything really, but the hunky Dory phase is very reminiscent of that so I want to do something for it, I think.

Ran across this photo a few days ago while looking for something else. It's from when I saw Bowie in March *1976* in Pittsburgh. I'm sure I have other, better pix somewhere, but I can't find them now...
Anyhow... you talk about OLD...? This was *31* years ago, nearly *32*!
