Good Gone Girl - Lyrics and discussion

Or a good girl who is dead? You know, gone as in dead.

Or it's just bad grammar:naughty:

"good gone girl" doesn't make sense to me either. it's like "well done girl:thumb_yello:" :roftl:

I don't get it either... could it be like "Good-Gone Girl", as in, all the good is gone from the girl? lol

quote mika's twitter;

'Mad rush finishing off mixes, new parts being written and recorded down to the wire. Titles being changed, lyrics being scrapped'

yay! that means when we've discussed this stuff to death, we can start all over again! :biggrin2:

:lmfao:

but, even when we DO hear the offish stuff, we'll be thinking about lyrics for months.

some parts of over my shoulder still remain a mystery to me.

Sorry to come up with this, from some pages ago, but I'll go for England's version in the part: "her name was sacred but she was hateful". I think it doesn't make sense the "BUT she was hateful" after sayin' her name was April... the contradiction sacred-hateful does.

There's a saying, "good and gone". I think that's what it means. The girl is good and gone (she's left him) But if Mika's lyrics and titles seem a little different, that's okay. It's part of his own uniqueness. He kind-of writes his own rules, doesn't he!

Hey everyone!

I believe the second verse starts:

Would you believe?

The same old phonies

Those painted ponies

That you've ridden all before

I've spent hours filling in lyrics instead of doing homework :naughty: So hopefully I'll have the whole song by the end of the day.

The changes I've found so far, I'm pretty sure they're right

Could you believe the same old story

It (bores me) though I've heard it all before

Her name was Georgia and she was gorgeous

When she had ..... the whole room would get to know

(...)

(...)

(...) show ya

In a rush 'cause she's getting older

(...fancy...)

(...) play guitar

(...) got to warn ya

She's gonna make it out in California

Hey you, what's a good girl like you doing in this crazy world?

Well it's good gone girl

....

You were only 17

With a good girl dream ?

ooooooooo good gone girl

Would you believe the same old phonies

Those panted ponies

That you've ridden all before

Her name was April but she was hateful

Enough to make you want to run right out the door

...

... a champagne toast

When the end of the night gets ...

Don't you know that it's complicated

Lookin' out for a man who's golden

Doesn't matter if his ...

Sugar daddy but it's just a ...

i'm pretty sure it's 'fancy car' .. possibly 'a guy with a fancy car'

also it's been stuck in my head .. for like 2 days now

but since I don't know the lyrics I usually fill them in with something that i'm reading about.. which is.. immunology.. haaa.. it doesn't work.. my poor brain

okay.. have funn :roftl:

But there's no contradiction with "Georgia/gorgeous" in the previous

verse, so I don't think that necessarily means anything...

I can hear "ponies" so you may have something there...

I've taken a few days away, so I'm going to try to listen again "fresh"

tonight. We'll see... :thumb_yello:

Here's what I hear, which is pretty similar to what lovempls hears. I still think the guitar was too loud in this track compared to M's vocals. Sigh.

Good Gone Girl

Could you believe

The same old story

Yeah it bores me, though I've heard it all before

Her name was Georgia

And she was gorgeous

When she had ..... the whole room would get to know

(...)to the lies

(...)devil to the right

Play the wounded soldier

In a rush 'cause she's getting older

Hang out in the fancy bars

With the boys that play guitar

(...) had to warn ya

Gonna make it out in California

Hey you, what's a good girl like you doing in this crazy world?

Well it's good gone girl

(...) the life you wanted

When you were only 17

With a good girl dream

Ooooooooo

Would you believe the same old phonies

But she was hateful

...what you want the most

Life with a champagne toast

When the end of the night gets tricky

Don't you know that beggars can't be picky

Lookin' out for a man who's golden

Doesn't matter if his is wallet rollin'

...desperate hatter

Sugar daddy but it's just a matter

You've gotten some of the same things I picked out when I listened

last night, Mana -- the bits about "wounded soldier" and "wallet

rollin'"... I think you're pretty close to what I'm hearing, too

:thumb_yello:

I guess we just need to hear him sing it again to clarify for us :naughty:

Can I suggest that in the first verse, he sings 'when she adored ya, the whole room would get to know'...?

I'm also convinced I hear the word 'munter' in there :boxed:

'sugar daddy, but he's just a munter'

For those who don't know, munter is a British slang term for a very unattractive woman :boxed::blink: (which doesn't really fit with sugar daddy) but I believe it can also be used to refer to a drug user, which may fit. I may be totally wrong about hearing this of course but it's just another theory.

It's so hard to hear the words of this song. :naughty:

Her name was Georgia

And she was gorgeous

UNTIL THE devil REALISED

FEEL LIKE A wounded soldier

In a rush JUST TO GET TO KNOW YA

NOW out in the fancy bars

With the boys that play guitar

OR with a champagne toast

When the end of the night gets tricky

LOOKING OUT FOR man who's golden

Doesn't matter if his is wallet rollin'

...desperate hatter (?)

]IF HE’S A Sugar daddy THAT’S ALL THAT matters

Hey you, what's a good girl like you doing in this STRANGE LITTLE world?

Agreed. I'll invite Mika 'round for tea, and he can sing it a capella for us without any bloody guitars making it hard to hear the lyrics. :naughty:

Thanks! Arrgh, I like trying to figure out lyrics but if Mika's whipping out British slang then I'm hooped. :roftl:

The band Scouting for Girls has a song with the lyrics "you put the meaning in Wacaday." And for so long I was like "wtf? You put the meaning in what?" Not realizing, of course, that "Wacaday" was an old British television show. :roftl:

Oooh, yes, I especially like these bits! "Don't you know that beggars can't be picky." That's gotta be it. Thanks!

And yeah, check the vids. Lip-reading is a saving grace for this song.

Check out Sariflor's HD video. Now that you've said it, I'm like 90% sure it is "munter". Watch his lips, too. I can hear the "n" sound, and I'm not hearing a "p" sound. :naughty:
