Zoo Session: Mika

 

Mika has been at #1 with his debut single for ages now. He came to Virgin Radio HQ to perform an exclusive session the week his album's released. Watch it here!

Mika came in to Virgin Radio HQ to perform three songs from his debut album, 'Life In Cartoon Motion'. Tall and slim, with an accent that veered between classy London and cosmopolitan international, the chart-topper looked comfortable in front of his piano.

 

After quickly stripping off his green shirt to reveal a simple white t-shirt, he performed a break-up song 'My Interpretation' and a happier song 'Love Today' before ending with a fantastic acoustic rendition of his smash hit single 'Grace Kelly'.

 

Wonderfully quirky throughout, it's a performance to behold. Despite bemoaning his songs being difficult to perform, Mika played them absolutely brilliantly, backed up by his guitarist and fellow songwriter.

I hope he doesn't burn himself out , things seem to be happening so quickly and he is here there and everywhere, UK, America, Europe, back to America etc - I suppose he has to do it though.

Back in the early days, before all the negative stuff started;-)

I like how they mention him bemoaning how hard it was to perform the songs. I remember the first signing perfomance he did at HMV, the night of the Berkeley Square gig, and after singing GK he said how hard he found it singing one after another. Guess he's got used to it now.

I like how they mention him bemoaning how hard it was to perform the songs. I remember the first signing perfomance he did at HMV, the night of the Berkeley Square gig, and after singing GK he said how hard he found it singing one after another. Guess he's got used to it now.

I did say that in February 07. My views may/may not have changed since then.
