  1. If you wish to discuss the live stream concert in a lot more detail with a full review please use this space to do so! Here's mine. As I said before it's quite long I would have logged in straight after the concert but I got so many notifications on twitter afterwards that I spent a while there and then went to bed (I was very tempted to watch the whole thing again and probably will later), starting to feel PMD now . Anyway consider this my first concert review! It's quite long and took me over an hour to write! First of all my bud

  2. What a show! I've watched it several times now myself -- and a few parts more than others. That reworking of Promiseland?! Amazing. For those who didn't hear, Mika appeared on Twitch TV with Manuelito from X Factor for a few minutes after the first broadcast finished. (Manuelito was hosting his own benefit for Beirut in support of Mika.) I managed to record it: https://youtu.be/UHyWMhyBdTQ

  3. That's true - 500,000€ combined with nearly 200,000£ on the GoFundMe page... plus we don't know yet what the deal with the VOD people brought in, plus t-shirt sales... I think the grand total will be a very respectable number! I think there are two ways to measure the success of program -- the monetary success, as we have discussed, and then also the artistic success, which I think we all agree on, too. Clearly we all had some sort of emotional response not only to the music, but to the stories of the people affected by the explosion and its aftermath, and that's exactly what I thi

  4. Listening to Danna’s and Mika’s cover of “It must have been love”. It’s like a warm hug from afar. A warm hug from Mika! The emotional response I’m reading on here from everyone is enormous. And you are all right, what Mika wanted to achieve was exactly that. Empathy and awareness through beautiful music and collaborations. And a connection, not only with the people of Beirut, but with everyone of us as individuals.

  6. I've deleted the video links here @Starlight. Please don't share such links here (or anywhere, really), it might not be a DVD (yet), but we should treat it like one, because obviously they're still collecting funds for Beirut with it (via French VOD). And who knows what other plans they have with it. It's a very special video, one that Mika, his team and many others put a lot of work and heart in, and although *we* might buy everything he releases, there's enough people on the internet who wouldn't. So I find it sad that there's so many videos of the gig circulating on the web, and

  8. I have to admit I downloaded the video too before it was shut down because I wanted to rewatch the gig today and I wasn't sure how long the link will work so I'm the last to judge even though I was going to use it just for my own purposes, I wouldn't upload it anywhere... But I think YouTube isn't the best platform if you don't want people to get the video because it's so easy to convert it. It was just a matter of time till someone uploads the whole gig. However, I still hope there will be an official way to buy it too, I would still pay for it.

  9. That was a most beautiful, amazing, wonderful and magical Mika concert I've ever been to. What a night! So pleased I can watch it again and again because I really don't want it to end. I've written a full review, would it be ok to start a new topic in the concert review section or shall I post it here. It is quite long...

  10. I actually first thought it was some comment that had just been posted and youtube was showing it in the video for some reason. When watching it for the 2nd time I didn't notice it, guess I was distracted that moment. When I read the report here in the first post, I believed that it was by Andy, shame it isn't... tho who knows - tbh I believe more that this was on purpose than that the open zipper during Ice Cream was accidental. And that gets me to my report about the gig. I liked the start with Origin. Happy Ending made me cry for the first time, really beautiful. AOW was aweso

  11. From the interviews Mika had recently given, I realized that I Love Beirut would be a special event, but I never thought it would be so extraordinary. It was the best birthday present I ever got. It was wonderful to see Mika, Wouter, Max and Tim on stage. Mitch was not there, but Fabio was very good and replaced him without problems. I loved the Arabic version of Promiseland and the duet with Danna Paola in It must have been love. After seeing and seeing this show several times I can say that it was perfect. Congratulations to Mika and all his staff. I hope he does more live streaming, with hi

  12. Mika chatted a bit with a fan on Twitter. It started by him RTing this: Then he commented here - I think it refers to some of Mika's vocabulary inventions on Xfactor, but no idea what they're actually talking about, can anyone clear it up? In another thread the guy asked Mika (in Italian) to invite him for dinner, and Mika, switching to English, answered: continued: and: Lol, I love this, can he do things like that more often please?

  13. How could I forget that he sang Happy Ending and Tiny Love? Both were absolutely astounding performances too! Admittedly after going to an actual real life concert I tend to have a day where my mind goes blank simply because I've taken so much in from what I've experienced. Didn't think that would happen with this! I was also really tired afterwards, it's not like I had to queue or stand in a crowd for hours but I got that kind of tiredness where I couldn't actually fall asleep for ages!

  16. I love his hair like that, it looks so fluffy. His T-Shirt says "Virgin Prunes". I had to google that to find out that it was a Punkrock band back in the 70s / 80s.

  18. Indeed, it felt like a real concert experience, I was excited before the gig, I couldn't sleep afterwards because I couldn't stop thinking about the show, today I was still high but at the same time I have PMD... Mika really exceeded my expectations and I'm always expecting a lot when it comes to Mika but this time it was even better than I could have ever imagined! (Or maybe I was just really missing him on stage... ) But it's quite unbelievable what he and the team made in a couple of weeks, especially since his initial idea was a small garden gig.

  19. Now it's more than 187'000 pounds = more than 200'000 EUR!!!! On YouTube I can see 57'000 vues so far. Even if some of us have seen it several times I think that we can calculate 50'000 x 10EUR, which gives.... 500'000 EUR! If we add t-shirts and VOD in France, it's quite possible that Mika collects about 1'000'000 EUR!!!!

  22. Oh I loved this! Obviously it was an editing error but such a cute little mistake, I think. The beginning of the show was extremely emotional and this made me smile. Precious. The intro before the music started was incredibly poetic, he had the audience and everyone’s attention from the very start. His feelings towards this city were so clear and I got the feeling it’s good for him to embrace his Lebanese roots, it seems so important to him. I felt empathy for those people so strongly and I guess that was the biggest purpose of the night, to understand what the city is goin

  23. Mika posted 2 stories, the first one's a repost from Xfactor, and this is the 2nd one. I think it says they first met today 8 years ago? How sweet of him is that to post about such an anniversary?!

  25. Mika and his team created something very beautiful and unique with this gig. There was lots of emotions, I cried several times, and what it did was to make me feel connected with the city of Beirut and its people. What I had hoped it would do was to make me feel connected with Mika and the "crowd" like at a real gig, that's how I had understood what he had said before about this "connection of spirit". But to me this didn't happen, maybe because I had the wrong expectations. I only realized this when I watched for the 2nd time in the Asian timezone. The first time I watched, I was sad for 90%

  26. Me too I would like to have a physical copy. I am affraid that now it is not "profitable" as a part of the production costs would be too high. Especially for the charity purpose. You have to print them, make a distribution and it takes time to get money to send to any charity organisation. I hope I am wrong. I burned myself a copy of Mika in Brooklyn Steel to have one on my shelf. I love to feel a box in my hand

  27. You're quite right... All us paid for watching the stream and I guess it should rather be an official release. I don't think that this person had a permission though due to what @Anna Ko Kolkowska said about the description. Same for me. Well, the difference is really that we both had a ticket and didn't just do it that way. And of course I would prefer to have a DVD some time as I'm a fan of physical copies anyway

  32. The concert was beautiful. I really liked the duets he sang with Danna Paola and I loved seeing Kylie. The other artists were fantastic as well, but Mika was the highlight of course. His performance of Any Other World was very touching, and I loved it when he sang We Are Golden as this song has helped me through so many hard times. It was strange not to hear an applause after every song, but this was to be expected. I seriously cannot wait until live events return, but I think it was lovely of Mika to organise this special concert. It just goes to show that music brings hope i

Ho adorato la versione araba di Promiseland e il duetto con Danna Paola in It must have been love. Dopo aver visto e rivisto più volte questo spettacolo posso dire che è stato perfetto. Congratulazioni a Mika e

  42. @TinyLove_CJI felt the same thing. Even if I knew it would be amazing, I never thought I would have a feeling as strong... I'm even a little depressed, like after a real concert is finished ! After 13 years of being Mika's fan, I'm still surprised, still experiencing things I never knew about before... I never imagined how a virtual event could be so moving and alive ! Mika was definitely right hen he said the theater wasn't empty. We were obviously with him and Beyrouth, and he was with us and Beyrouth as well.

  43. Only today I realized that Mika is a spirit in the supermarket scene of the video. He has a slight glow around him and is slightly shine-through, you can see the shelves through him a little. It makes sense of course, as at this point of the video the squirrel = he is dead, and then he turns into the squirrel and dissolves. But I hadn't realized it yet, so far to me it was a nice feeling of "good, MIka is still there and dancing", which made the squirrel's death a little more bearable. So well, I'm not too happy about this discovery. I still love the video tho, it's just too cute.

  44. Wow, the forum changed (chromatically) a lot! Dear friends, what a beautiful concert! Very nice MIKA performances from the tiny Italian theatre. Tiny location, tiny concert, big and sincere love for Beirut. The contribute of all people involved are praiseworthy and generous but I am not particularly touched by some of the apparitions by female artists. Good the intention but insignificant and/or out of topic the performances. On the contrary the duet of Mika and Mashrou Leila performing Promiseland (fantastic song) is pure art, musically and visual
