  5. When I went to Sugababes at HMV Oxford. They did give out wristbands. There was a sign that said "This is a wristband only event". So I went to HMV at 9AM on the day of the gig and got 2. Was back at 5PM, got their latest cd and went downstairs. Everyone was taking pictures. And Sugababes hung around to sign the last fan's cd. The way this is going, with gigs getting moved to other venues and dissappointing fans, I'm starting to think he will be a one cd wonder. He is very talented, but, again, whoever is doing his bookings needs to be replaced as soon as possible. And he just sang 3 songs? What a slap on the face to the fans that showed up. And don't believe the I will be back to do a signing comment he made. He will, but when his next cd comes out. Manny

  9. Jen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, some people asked me if I worked for MIKA's label. But, really I just consider myself his one-man street team here in Houston. Especially at the shops where I will go to on Friday (UK import CDs arrive on Friday) here in Houston to re-arrange the cds to have Mika's be in full view on the hot new imports aisle and side as well as get the cd to be in the listening stations. I have good contacts at the music stores, cause (and I'm tooting my own horn here) when I select a cd, and go through the trouble of requesting the re-arrangements and putting them on the listening booths, they always sell out. So welcome honey! I know you will love it here! :welcomeani: :welcomeani: Big Texas-sized hug to ya from Houston babes! Manny XXXXXXX

  12. Woo hoo! Another Houston fan! Welcome! Manny xoxo
  13. Is this a joke? Looks like his record company wants to just squeeze as much money out of him as soon as possible. Whoever is booking his gigs needs to be replaced as soon as possible! And I liked Take That when I was a kid too, but c'mon. So much for his credibility, what's next? He opens for Westlife? Manny
  14. I'm thinking he did his press interviews the same day. But still! Manny
  15. From billboard.com Mika European Youngster 'Relaxes' Pop Music Katie Hasty, N.Y. "In the U.K., they call this pop, but in America it's rock," Mika tells Billboard.com. "I consider myself a singer-songwriter -- although there's a bad stigma about the term." The 23-year-old Londoner can add dance artist to that mix, as his track "Relax, Take It Easy" earns him his first chart ink at No. 44 on the Hot Dance Club Play tally. The songwriter's background is indicative of his diverse palate, marked by numerous years in a variety of prestigious music schools. During his early teens, after moving to London from Paris, Mika dropped out of school due to difficulties with dyslexia and adjusting to the new digs. It was then that his mother got him lessons with a voice teacher and, ultimately, he was learning a number of musical instruments besides. He ultimately joined the Royal College of Music, after attempting the London School Of Economics for two lectures. ("I don't know, I thought being a geographer or something else useful might have been the route for me…") The classical training put Mika in an awkward, if not liberating, spot with his compositions, as he was isolated from any of his school's or community's scenes. "The classical world, honestly, was so snobby. The indie crowds didn't like me because I was too melodic and a lot of major record companies thought I was too weird," he says proudly. "I'm genre-flipping a lot. I think it's funny that my song is played as a club track because so much of what I do is organic -- it just happens to be very big and very loud." Mika's big and loud album debut, "Life in Cartoon Motion," will be released on Casablanca/Universal Republic in March. Produced by Greg Wells, the album brings Beck, Bowie and Scissor Sisters to mind, with big goofy choruses and a bombastic vibrato voice. The "expensive" effort reined in contributions from veteran horn player Jerry Hey, guitarist Time Pierce and even a children's choir flown in exclusively for the recording. Mika's fanciful imagination is not only captured in his "hyper-active rock" music, but also in the album's packaging and the artist's Web site: A whole animated world of "secret society" cartoons live online and in the artwork. Apparently, fans sometimes come dressed as the characters at Mika's live performances. "I like to think of myself as a circus master, with all these sounds and visuals going on. I have my hands in production. I work with my sisters in developing these characters. I feel like I need to be constantly moving," he says. "I'm lucky to have a lot of freedom with the way I go about things."

  22. I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Paul Smith, I always get Paul Smith when I shop in London. Now PS is only sold in Neiman's, Saks, Nordstrom (like Selfridge's and Harvey Nic's) and they only carried a small line but my mates bf (who works for Neima's) told me that they are ordering a lot of PS for the Spring line. And (this is my favorite cologne btw) they just started selling Paul Smith London for men and women! They NEVER did that before. But cool, way to go MIKA! Manny xoxo
  23. If your only option is getting a ticket through a tout. I would say wait til the gig starts, and then you can probably get it for 8 quid. Yes, you will miss the first song, but it probably won't be the last time you ever see him right? I know peeps that are going to like 5 MIKA gigs on his UK tour..... Manny xoxoxoxo
  24. Great review SXSW Austin here I come! Manny xoxoxo
