I haven't analyzed his performances in detail in regard to that, but generally I know that the choruses are often recorded versions, especially of the fast songs... I heard a few soundchecks from outside at festivals last year, and there it becomes obvious when it's just the band on stage but you can hear Mika's voice. I think it gives him more freedom to run and jump and dance. I hadn't expected it from a slow song like Moi Andy et Paris, but well, it's a long show and he's very active, I guess some technical support can't hurt. As long as he doesn't do full playbacks of whole songs, but I don't think so. Back in the early days he was always very proud of singing live, so I'm sure he does it as much as it's possible and makes sense. About the effects you mention, it's no problem to add these to live vocals. Btw, it's the best feeling when he stands next to you for a bit while he's in the crowd for Big Girl and you can hear his actual voice right there in front of you.

I had bought a ticket, it's a beautiful venue where I'd love to see Mika... but with the new German summer gigs announced now, I think I'll have to let go of this one. I'll decide for sure next week, after seeing the show for the first (and second) time ... yeah, I'm obviously making it a little harder for myself to let go of it - will I still be able to, after seeing the show?

Ah, so he skipped Popular Song AND Origin? Well, it's a looong setlist, can't blame him... but I'd still miss Origin on the setlist, there's a few others I would miss less...

Btw, he said at the beginning that this is why the tour is called Apocalypse Calypso. That's so beautiful, and in fact when we first got the title of the tour, I had hoped that it would be about this, the love and the connection we all feel at his gigs and with his music and that helps us through dark times. Maybe even the feeling that if there was an apocalypse, there's nowhere you'd rather be than right there at his gig. And I thought the song might refer to that, or at least could be interpreted that way. And then the song was very specifically about physical love. I guess that's why I couldn't connect to the song, because I really had expected something different. So his words here mean a lot to me, and they show me that I don't have to listen much to the lyrics of AC, even though it has the same name as the tour. I suppose Mika chose it for the tour because it's another way of connection, another form of love. And of course it's an intriguing title, which works equally well in French and English and even German (probably Dutch too), because these words mean the same in different languages (even if they might be written differently). Anyway, I guess I tend to take his lyrics too literally.

Origin isn't the full song, but he's in the crowd and you can't see him well from the front, I guess that's why Fanny stopped filming.

Hmm, we had been wondering in the 30 Secondes thread what he's singing at the end, but I think the live version is different again... "regarde moi" is clear, and then, does he sing "les regarde pas" (Don't look at them)? That's what I understand, but not sure if it makes sense - except if it's meant as a sign of jealousy? Or is it to say "don't care about them" (the others who are watching)? He also sings "embrasse moi" instead of "enferme/enflamme moi" earlier in the song, so that won't help to figure out the actual lyrics, lol!

I read it's the same DJ for the UK tour, so I assume it's true. I don't know if the one on the French tour now is the same or a different one, didn't see her up close... anyway there seem to be only DJ's as support acts this time.

in fact, that's a good point... people usually film in portrait format these days, so that's not ideal for uploading on youtube. But I wonder if everyone is aware that it's possible to upload videos here on MFC directly, no matter if landscape or portrait format? For huge files filmed with a camera, I suppose youtube makes more sense, but for mobile videos it's perfect here, if for some reason you don't want to upload them on IG (otherwise you can just post the link).

I just checked the shipping options ... indeed for Schwetzingen there seem to be only paper tickets. For Bonn you can get an e-ticket, apparently. It didn't offer me any choice when I bought my tickets on Friday, so I'll have paper tickets for both.

Hmm, in fact, it's a bit different from the other 2. If it's correct, he didn't play Popular Song, and he played Sweetie Banana later (it was the 4th song at the other gigs)... in fact, in the place where he played PS before. And he added OOL before WAG. WAG was on the setlist before. I like how this is developing, definitely a good choice to swap Popular Song for Origin! Maybe for the international gigs he'll bring it back and throw out one of the French songs instead (I could do without Sweetie Banana... but I don't mind hearing it at the French gigs, always nice to hear new songs live, and I heard PS often enough). Hm, interesting. Thank you! I think this is the reason why I had been wondering at first whether Mika means rather himself than Andy by the "monster" - but he said the monster is Andy. Now here he says that bluntly saying how you feel and arguing are normal for him. Yet in the song it seems to be him who is hurt by Andy's "mots dur". It didn't surprise me, because we know he is a sensitive person... and well, I guess he's more sensitive to other people's harsh words than sensitive about his own harsh words ... anyway, it seems the reason why he told this story is to explain why he sings about this. Why he even has it on the setlist now. It's his way to express himself. Makes me curious now to hear what else he'll say during this song at the gigs. Sigh, I wish I understood French better! In the interviews it's ok meanwhile, as long as they're not talking over each other - but add the background noise of a venue and the music to what he says in French, and I'm lost. So thank you Jana, those translations are much appreciated! What other signs by peole did he read? I think the first one was "can I come on stage with you?" and he said maybe later (well, he just had brought a fan on stage a few minutes earlier), but I didn't understand the others.

I think it's also about camera vs mobile. People used to take (small) cameras to the gigs and film with them. Some fans filmed whole gigs that way. But now you have your mobile, it feels different to film with that. Even in the earlier days I always focused on new songs / show elements, and the ones I wouldn't dance to and where Mika only sat at the piano, like OMS or Toy Boy - but even back then I didn't film whole songs very often... but when you uploaded them, you did so on youtube, and there people expected whole songs - while, as you say, nowadays the small clips are the standard. So it's a variety of reasons.

Just speaking for myself, I don't usually film whole songs because I also want to enjoy the show and dance instead of just film. I usually film mostly when Mika is speaking, so I can listen back later to what he said, or get a translation from other fans. Thanks. Was the car even there?

So is that the same as the photobook they had online, just with a different cover? I hope they won't charge twice the price for a signed copy, I'd be totally ok with an unsigned one. 🙈

I used to think the same - but from my experience at such restaurants you get about 5-10 courses instead of one big portion. They might call it a 3 course or 5 course menu, and these neatly arranged things are the main courses, but in fact you end up eating all the time, with some pre-courses and side dishes and whatever all these things are called. Mika says he's eating a LOT while on tour - he surely wouldn't go to a restaurant if he has to leave hungry.

nothing decided yet, but I guess we'll meet up one way or another the day before the gig. Preferably near the venue, as I assume that's where most fans are staying. Guess it's just a loose meetup of maybe 10 MFCers, from the feedback we got here, so no need to plan that far in advance... but I guess slowly we should start planning. Maybe it'd be best to go for dinner to some sort of restaurant / bar where everyone can choose whether they want to eat much or little or just have a drink.
