  1. Definitely! I bags kicking U2 up the arse... especially Adam! Though in other music news, Hanson will be back in Oz in June! But I can't afford to go Derek would come with me but the only weekend one is in the Gold Coast and it costs a couple of hundred each person, each way to fly from the Citrus City Thanks! Makes a difference losing over 40kg We were there for two weeks but there were plenty of days where we just bummed around. Oooh yay for Petra! Darwin definitely is worth visiting and flights weren't too bad. Seeing as it'll be the dry season up there then it won't be as humid as when we went and there's heaps more stuff to do. There will be a lot of tourists around though. If she does go, tell her to go to Crocosaurus Cove and book in for the Cage of Death and go for the Adelaide River jumping croc cruise, but don't go through Adelaide River Queen Cruises - They're expensive and not only that, the people who do the cruises have run over crocodiles in their boats. We were getting more crocodiles jumping on the cruise I went - the guy was very respectful of them, treated them well (they could tell he was coming cause of the sounds and vibrations in the water from the boat) and was very knowledgeable. I can't remember the name but we got picked up in a bus and taken out to the river and the cruise was limited to 20 people. Also, there's some really nice places to eat. If she does go, tell her to ask me what places are good.
  2. I'll put my 2c in. Chances are the Aussies won't get together to specifically celebrate Mika, but there could be a chance to have a general get together (we have been talking about going to Melbourne to visit). It's probably a maybe/no for us. Hope others are planning stuff though!
  3. Very. Though now the number has gone to 6. Oooh yay!
  4. Yeah, something like that It was a wee bit scary. One snapped at a bug or smth at the other croc park and it made me jump. I think the heartrate went pretty high. And they def had some good suggestions for food. We didn't get to try it all though. They definitely do! Except not Adam, cause he's pretty and I like him It was so good. We want to go again, but maybe when Sam's a bit bigger (and during June/July). And no probs, I'll get an extra suitcase for everyone to hop into Damn. But yay for monthly comps! Might have to have a go! Pretty scary. Even worse is that he was on bail for domestic abuse I think So far 5 people have died, including a 3 month old baby
  5. So, as everyone knows we went to Darwin in October. We ended up having the greatest time and we'd love to go back. Some of the highlights were: - Going to Crocosaurus Cove and getting up close and personal with Axel the Crocodile in the cage of death. Scary but totally worth it! - Holding baby crocs at Crocosaurus Cove and Crododylus Park. Crocosaurus Cove was in the main street and had lots of fish, reptiles and (obviously) crocodiles. What was good about it was that there was an area where there were smaller crocs and they had a perspex wall and kids could swim in there (the cage of death was for 16 and over). Crocodylus Park had other animals and they sold croc meat (they farmed crocs for meat). - Going on a croc jumping cruise and seeing a massive big alpha male (approx. 65 y.o., over 5m long and over 700kg). The boat only could seat 20 people and the walls of the boat were like a grille and were were told not to stick hands out the boat, not to all go on one side and to only walk along the gangway to and from the boat two at a time. - Visiting the museum and seeing the stuffed body of a local crocodile (his name was Sweetheart and he died in the 70's - he was attacking fishermen so they tried to catch him but he got tangled in the ropes and drowned), going through the Cyclone Tracey exhibit (very confronting, especially the audio room of the actual storm) and checking out an indigenous art exhibit - Feeding local fish (pricewise not worth it but Samuel liked feeding the fish). - Mindil sunset markets (we went every Thurs and Sun we were there). Awesome food, beautiful view and lots of cool stalls. There was even two indigenous men in a band, one played the didgeridoo and the other played the drums. - Checking out WW1 and WW2 exhibits and the old gaol. One was a place on the wharf that had a VR headset there and showed you what it would've looked like when the Japanese bombed the harbour as well as some info on some of the Americans that were in the harbour. There was also a museum that had old vehicles and equipment from WW1, WW2 and Vietnam, as well as a video depicting what it would've looked like when Darwin was bombed (wasn't the smartest idea cause there were strobe lights and they make me feel weird - Of course I only realised it made me feel the same as I do during an EEG after I watched it *facepalm*). The gaol was good, though a little spooky at times (Derek could sense an indigenous man standing nearby - he died there by hanging. Actually, 8 out of the last 10 people to be executed there were either Asian or Aboriginal, the other two were from Europe and killed a taxi driver). - Sunset cruise through the harbour ft. fish and chips for my birthday. Of course, Samuel got very cranky before and during it because we wouldn't let him walk freely at the wharf or on the boat. Derek said later he should've just taken Samuel elsewhere and let me do the cruise on my own. It was amazing how laid back and friendly the locals were. Once they knew we were on holidays, they were more than happy to tell us what we should look at and where to eat. And speaking of food, we had some awesome dinners while we were there. We had an all you can eat dinner twice (the waitresses thought Samuel was lovely) and seafood dinners at another restaurant on the wharf and the takeaway nearby. It was also really nice where we stayed. It was off in the middle of nowhere, but it was very quiet and we had the pool to ourselves most days. Not a great deal of shopping, there was a large shopping centre in Darwin about 10 mins from where we stayed and there was another one in a city called Palmerston. Anyways, here's some pics (I can't label them the way I uploaded them, sorry):
  6. I'm so sorry I disappeared for a while guys, hope you didn't miss me too much! Once you see it you can't unsee it. Thanks guys! I had a fantastic day, until the night time. Will talk about the holiday in the next post. Potential future siblings will happen eventually. Thanks! The Enmore show was all ages. I know that cause one of the Aussies from Canberra brought her 9 year old. The Forum one was def 18+ though, any show I've been to there has been 18+ (the young Hanson fans cracked it when they couldn't go ). Yay for all your news! How's the house going? Yeah, back when they were still doing Australian Idol. I really think he could do a great show at the Opera House. OMG, watching that vid brought back so many memories of our trip in '09. I miss all you guys! Oh, wow. Hi tech equipment! Nice! Definitely I remember hearing that the paramedics students in my friend's accommodation tried to (drunkenly) insert an IV in their arms for alcohol. Oh, those were the days I think you would've fitted in well. We corrupted many a teenage fan Oh, and I saw this recently - The Aussie U2 fans are bitching cause they're planning a tour celebrating The Joshua Tree album and they're only doing select places in the US and Europe this year:
  7. Knew I missed one! Enmore is a definite, I reckon Melbourne could be doable as well. I know of 4 people that live in Melbourne or fairly close by that were fans a while back and came for the last show, surely there are more in Vic that would go. If it happens, I really really hope he goes to the Palais Theatre in St Kilda. One of the older fans made a video years ago and in it she pointed to the Palais and said he can do a show there (she also said he ripped off the Luna Park entrance at the Parc des Princes show in 2008 but that's beside the point). Silver, I'm sure you can guess who was involved in said video (besides me, but I didn't say anything ).
  8. Ugh, cold and rain. Hopefully it clears up soon. There was pretty severe flooding in a town about 1hr 20 from where I am now (we actually lived there over 20 yrs ago). The town is pretty much cut in two and the crops on the farms around the town have been wiped out. There's been minor flooding nearby, especially near the village my in laws live in. Yep, the 24th to be exact. Nope. I know it was November 2009 cause it was about 5 months after I had the strokes and that was 7 years this year. Definitely agree with the promo part. I never saw any promo around the album but then again I live in the country. Oooooh, exciting! Hope it looks really nice!
  9. An excellent point Yeah, that's possibly a closer age range than what I suggested, though I did message Deb to see if she could shed any light on age ranges on here specifically. Ooooooh! Guess what??? We're heading off to Darwin on Wednesday!
  10. There were a few of us that sent stuff I think. I only remember trying to get stuff that would manage the trip over but that would last her a while till she got back on her feet again. There may have also been Tim Tams I think the Mikagasmic thread was started by her. The naughty corner definitely was. And yes, even I admit he is a little pretty Thanks! He's my second nephew on my side. My brother has an older son from a previous relationship (he's 14 in December and LOVES dinosaurs). I also have a 16 year old niece (she belongs to my sister and LOVES Pokemon). I then managed to pick up 4 nephews and 5 nieces when I married my husband and they range in age from 24 to 13 (Derek's brothers are all older than him). And I have a great niece too Sorry about the family history, didn't mean to explain all that I really like the names. I didn't think my cousin would pick Olivia so it was a real surprise. I like the name Sebastian, but part of me keeps thinking of a kid that was at my last job (I worked at a school) but he was a bit of a turd.
  11. She had Facebook and Twitter but she passed away a few years ago. And before that she managed to get herself kicked off here We chatted a fair bit about epilepsy and other stuff. I ended up sending her a care parcel cause she was a bit short of money one time so she ended up sending me a print of a professional pic she paid for. She was pretty good value but really naughty and loved making sexy comments about Mika. I hope you enjoyed the day Oh come on, you love it! It's totally true though. Life update: I became an aunty again! My brother and his partner had their first bub today, his name's Sebastian Herb (Herb's our grandfather's name). Don't know anything else about bub yet, haven't seen a pic either but hoping I can go visit tomorrow. One of my cousins had a baby on Father's day, her name's Olivia. She's adorable Derek even had a nurse on Sunday at Sam's afternoon tea which was surprising cause usually he's not one for nursing newborns. Oh, and on Thursday I'll have a two year old
  12. Twas a good time. Actually, I was flicking through some photos that I had put away and found a Mika picture a fan sent me back in 2010. I miss her He does some cooking at times... Ugh, that sucks! I remember at school I was helping the Deputy move some year 12 artworks and one of them fell on my head. Damn it hurt! Aaaannnd now I feel old. Wow! That's great! Yeah, bit of a weird family... Parodies? I'm so out of the loop. It's been like that for quite a while. But then it picks up again. It's like a cockroach really
  13. Jiffy really is a good word to use, it sounds so fun! That pic of Mika is from quite a while ago. That time brings back memories There are some awesome smilies now! I swear they bring some in each time I log on! It's incredible! The garden shed is almost half full of baby stuff. Of course, I can't toss any of it yet cause we may need it in a little while (no I'm not!). I did manage to get the bassinet out for my brother and his partner as well as getting some of the larger girls and unisex stuff for the girl that does my nails (her bub is due in November). Oh, and Derek told me today that my cooking is getting better and that my food was nice I always thought my cooking was pretty good
  14. The house is fabulous now Sonelle! All I have to do is clear out stuff in the garden shed that doesn't get used (that isn't baby stuff) and I'll be happy! Hope you're doing well! That gif is very cute And before I forget, littledevil#222 you are our 74th Mikamite! Congrats! (sorry, I got a wee bit excited with smileys).
  15. Oh man, I missed you! Yay on wedding and honours thesis, so sorry to hear about your Dad And where were the photos of the hair colour? She's awesome! She ended up driving me, Tan and Bec to the U2 gig. That was almost 6 years ago though It was so much fun. Unfortunately a lot of the people from those times have either left or rarely visit. Some of us still talk about having another meet up but it hasn't happened as of yet. Yeah well we had to make sure to cut out those who weren't dedicated to visiting Well they're just rude. I know a lot of really fun Tasmanians and are as much an Aussie as those of us on the mainland OMG YES! How are you??? That's such an Aussie saying! An excellent point, especially since he didn't do a show in Korea or China till after the petition was handed over in 2009 Hey all, sorry to be a slack rep. I didn't have proper internet access for 9 weeks cause I had to move out (house had to be repaired cause of water damage) and since then I've been trying to get a job and tidy the house up. Hope everyone is doing well!
  16. Yeah, it's pretty cool! My parents point it out every time Mika's playing. They find it amusing to try and embarrass a 32 year old married woman but I'm like, "Yeah, I own my fangirlishness". It's been on in Hogs Breath Cafe I haven't noticed it on the TV at any other time. Hey, sorry I'm such a bad rep. But welcome! I'll have to make sure you and Sonelle are added to the list on the first page EDIT: Sonelle, you're Aussie Mikamite #72 and GalaxyBae you're Aussie Mikamite #73
  17. Okies, I signed the petition and shared it on FB, seeing as I have a lot of the original Aussie fans on there.
  18. You wouldn't be the first Kiwi's to fly over. Twas quite fun actually
  19. *cough* You'll be waiting for a while... Few of them visit anymore. Some visit the Aussie thread but that's as far as they go.
  20. Will do She found out the results on Australia day. She missed out on citizen of the year but apparently it came down to the woman who won and mum. The winner got to hold up a great big heavy trophy (but doesn't keep it) but all the other nominees got a certificate. Ugh, cleaning out is terrible! Hope you've managed to clear out some by now. I checked it out ages ago and I think you pretty much have to email the stations direct, there doesn't seem to be any request button on the sites. I know, right? People here liked him, but there's been bugger all promo and radio exposure for him. Admittedly, the restaurant we go to for birthdays quite often play him on the speakers and show his videos on the tvs
  21. I think most people have forgotten about Mika by now, and sadly there's less interest from the fans on here. There was generally a lot of positive press about Mika both times he came here. The show in 2009 was even in a bigger venue. Last time we created a petition to get Mika to tour Australia, NZ and a few Asian countries so not sure if that encouraged him to come here but it seems that he's starting to visit Korea and China a bit more It certainly won't hurt for people to contact concert promoters, radio stations etc. The worst they can say is no.
  22. I know, right? I worked out that one of my aunts was around my age when the oldest great grandchild was born on mum's side so I don't feel as bad. aaaZZZZZZZa vSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac /\ (That was Samuel - he likes to type on the laptop and gets cranky if I'm using it, like right now ) Things have been pretty quiet around here. I haven't been getting many hours at work, but it does mean that we've been able to plan to go away for some camping and fishing. Of course, that all depends on if the rain holds off. Oooh, and mum got nominated for Citizen of the year for Orange for Australia day cause of the volunteering she does and stuff, which is a bit exciting. How's life going for you?
  23. I ended up buying a new one cause I asked the people at the phone shop whether it was worth fixing or not and it wasn't (probably heaps expensive) and paying out my contract nd upgrading was going to cost me over $600 . Actually, I should find where I put it, I can't remember where it is! Last time I saw it, Derek gave it to Samuel. Oh, and did I mention that I'm now a great aunt? One of my nieces on Derek's side had a baby girl at the start of December. She's absolutely adorable!
