  1. It appears that all of the printed set lists are the same every night, but each show varies a little bit. Has anyone heard Bonnie and Clyde yet?
  2. Actually, I take that back. It's in the same key as Century Man, and Origin of Love is in a different key. I think that's another wee bit of Century Man. That is my final answer! LOL
  3. He will never live it down. Oh yay, I submitted a bunch of my photos for Mika's Facebook scrapbook, and they posted most of them! It makes me happy that I played a small part in documenting Mika history.
  4. Micah, you must have been standing right behind me after the show, because I totally heard you shout "No chicken tonight!" and it made me giggle. LOL! There were some really lovely t shirts there, but I didn't get one, because they took cash only. The venue had an ATM, but it couldn't read the worn out strip on my debit card. That'll teach me to skip a trip to the bank before a concert! Fingers crossed that the extras eventually show up in his web store...
  5. How fun! It is a little strange to see yourself pop up in a random photo. Haha! At least you look good.
  6. Here's the setlist. No "Bonnie and Clyde", and "Relax" and "Celebrate" were switched around.
  7. Ok, it's picture time! I'd almost forgotten how to post photos on a fan forum. I need to come back more often, LOL! His name on the marquee. Squee! Excited Mika fans, waiting in the cold! The boys in the band opened with an interesting set of song clips. Mika was lookin' GOOD! I love it when his mouth is wide open. "Dear Lord, help me remember the chords." I will pretend that he's looking right at me. The guys played tap dance rhythms during "Stuck in the Middle", as Mika had originally intended for the song. Then they all played piano at once. That was pretty rad. Mika called this young man on stage to sing the English lyrics to Elle Me Dit. Um, he did not sing. He just dance dance danced. LOL! Mika was a good sport, though. He took a seat on the piano during "Hia Leah". It sounded like a song about young love, when you're poor, and love is all you have to give. I recall the lyric "The money is spent, can't pay the rent." Very sweet little tune. Yes. Goodnight! Or is there more.... He made my 6 year dream come true, and closed with "Over My Shoulder"!! Oh, that sweet dissonance... Mika was in good spirits as he signed a few autographs, and gave a few hugs. As you can see, it was a mob situation, and did not last long before the gentleman on Mika's right led him away. And... here is the photo of the night, LOL! Some of you may know that I have been trying to get a photo with Mika ever since I first saw him in LA back in 2007. I've talked to him several times, received autographs, drawings, and even danced as a Big Girl in 2009, but there is no photo of the 2 of us where you can see our faces. The legacy of "Mika and the back of my head" continued, when my friend shot this photo.
  8. I'll admit, I was a little bummed about no meet'n'greet, but I was prepared for that, after reading the BC reviews. I wondered if it would have been more likely if we were in a line, rather than a mob. I wouldn't want to deal with that either, if I were Mika! However, a few lucky people did get autographs and hugs before he took off, and I even got a cute picture of Mika smiling at everyone. Speaking of which, I must go sort my photos now...
  9. No Boston. I went to Portland because it was within driving distance. No money for a plane trip this time. Recording was not allowed, but I did witness a few folks bending the rules. (Ok, flat out breaking the rules.) Whether or not things get posted to YouTube remains to be seen. Just keep an eye out.
  10. Hey y'all!!! Long time no see. I think it's been years since I logged in. After a 3.5 year dry spell, Mika graced the Pacific Northwest with a very special show. I was up near the stage, about 3 "layers" from the front, and off to the side, where I could clearly see his lovely face at the piano. I am still in Portland, so I will post pics once I get back to the Seattle area. I was fortunate enough to stand near other gals who had been Big Girl dancers (I danced in the Vancouver show in 2009), and we reminisced about that wonderful experience. I'll post a more detailed review when I get home, so that I can refer to the set list and add photos, and all that good stuff that you guys deserve. I will say that this was a lovely show. It got back to the heart of why I was drawn to Mika in the first place, his musicianship and great song writing ability. Not that elaborate sets, dancers, and a huge band aren't fun, but the stripped down, mostly acoustic experience really showcased his music in a raw and timeless sort of way. As a fairly old school musician myself, I greatly appreciated it. He did play the new songs, though I don't recall Bonnie and Clyde. I really enjoyed Hia Leah, with its laid back doo wop feel, and Mika looking adorable sitting up on the piano. I do have something to say about Century Man. I know that people are dying to hear it, and while it's a nice song, it's not anything that you haven't heard from Mika before. It reminds me of Billy Brown and Doctor John, with the driving beat and powerful vocals at the chorus. Just replace the lyrics with "Century Maaaaan!!" and you pretty much know it already. LOL! A word about his outfit, just wait for more pictures. He looked SHARP. Very classy, and the vest and slacks really flattered his figure, in my opinion. I greatly prefer it to those painted on skinny jeans, LOL! Mika was quite the gentleman. The guy in the shorts and tank top was quite the riot! Mika asked if anyone knew the English lyrics to Elle Me Dit, because he could only remember it in French. That young man said that he knew it, so Mika invited him on stage. Um, I heard no singing from him, but he sure tore up the stage with some very unique dance moves. LOL! It was very funny, and Mika was a good sport about it. I even got a shot of them hugging at the end, which I will share later. M even referred to the incident in Hia Leah, by singing "You may pretend to sing, but you really want to dance" during the outtro. I'm sure that guy's whole life was made during that experience. Anyway, that is all for now. I promise to post pics soon. There was no proper meet and greet. Mika exited the building, and there was a very disorderly mob waiting for him. (I was miffed that we weren't lined up. That might have made a difference.) He was gracious enough to sign a few autographs before getting into a vehicle with Mrs. P, and driving away. I did not get a photo with him, but I did get a pretty hilarious photo of Mika and the back of my head, as per usual. Haha! All in all, a great experience, and well worth the trip. For those of you dying to hear the new songs, take heart, something might turn up eventually...
  11. When I first became a Mika fan, I dreamed that Mika had a twin brother. These photos are the closest thing I'll ever have to that dream coming true. As far as wax figures go, this one's not bad. I'm just wondering why they chose that particular pose. It seems a little random (and strange) to me.
  12. So true, Christine. I need to quit whining and start counting my blessings. From what little I've seen so far, it looked like a very memorable gig. Thanks for documenting it so well, everybody!
  13. Haha! That would be some pretty awesome payback, Wonka. A lot of people say that Prince hates his fans, but honestly, I don't care. He could do anything (almost), and I'd love him 'til I die! I'm still a lovestruck 13 year old girl at heart. Besides, I don't think he hates us, he's just difficult.
  14. Uh oh, the video in your link is already gone. Prince is quick to remove himself from YouTube, unfortunately. I haven't heard anything off of the new album yet, I want to be surprised! And dang it, I wish he'd embark on a full tour (with a stop near my house. ).
  15. Yeah, he looks similar, but he really does have quite a good voice. (And he's kinda cute... )
  16. It just wasn't fair to the other people who really wanted a photo of M with their oversized animal sculpture. At least you can see the pin I made him in that photo. (Yes, I am still fangurling over that.)
  17. Yeah, I remember the penguin guy. I was a bit jealous, because we weren't allowed to take posed photos with M, but that guy got one with his damn penguin.
  18. Dang! I really cannot decipher that boy's handwriting anymore! I think it's a sign that I'm not a very good fan. That is a very touching message, Christine. I'm glad that you got such a nice autograph.
  19. Lovely autograph, but I totally can't read it... (Does it really say troll busting? ) And where can one buy even a 2" doll? I think I might need to have one.
  20. Happy 52nd Birthday, Mr. Nelson!!! I know that you don't celebrate it, but it's a very special day to me.
  21. This is a really great thread, Freddie! After seeing the personalized notebooks thread, I was curious to see what kinds of other doodles and drawings Mika has done for fans over the years. I have a few of my own. None of them include my name, so if times get tough, they could all potentially be put up for sale, LOL! I'll let you know if that sad day ever comes. This is my first, obtained on Valentine's Day 2008, in Seattle. This is the Japanese version of LICM, because I couldn't find my US copy before the show. I gave the signed booklet away as the prize in a contest a couple years ago. I still have the CD. The next night, February 15th 2008, I got my Grace Kelly 7" signed in Vancouver. I framed it shortly after. The signature on this little gem was obtained October 26th 2009 in Seattle. As some of you may recall, Mika was injured during the last leg of the US tour, and somewhat medicated when I asked him to sign this. Silly me, I forgot to take it out of the plastic sleeve, and Mika didn't notice. So he has actually signed the sleeve, rather than the EP itself. Oh well. This is my favorite, because it includes a bit of artwork. He doodled on and signed this Munny doll for me on October 27th 2009 in Vancouver, BC. I was torn between him signing this doll or my Big Girl 7" (because I was a BG in that night's show), but I think the doll ended up being a wise choice. Kinda scary, and I managed to smudge it immediately, but I love it anyway. (I cleaned up some of the smudging with nail polish remover.) Jimmy, Imma and Cherisse also signed the doll. At first, I had a goal to get all of my Mika 7" singles autographed, but I think that might be a bit excessive. I'm quite satisfied with what I have now.
