Bare with me because I may not have all my facts straight, but from what I understand, Mika was going to talk to everyone - he was going to work the room. Because things got out of hand with people coming back, that's why those people didn't get the chance to talk. I think if someone was in that position, they'd have all the right in the world to say how disappointed or angry they were; their chance was taken away by others. I hope that fans wouldn't blame Mika, and as Jennie said herself, she doesn't. Another thing, of course, is that it may really have been that he had to leave because the bar was closing. The fact of the matter is that if people had stayed in their places, been grateful with their Mika interaction, and then given others the chance to talk, then Mika would have been able to do that. I mean yeah, there's a time to be grateful to be invited to the afterparty, but that was with the full understanding that they'd get a chance to talk to Mika. I'm sure some people would have gone regardless if the band or Mika were there, but I'm willing to bet everyone had that expectation. There's going to be jealously regardless if it had been a 100% success (someone may have wanted more time with him), so there's no sure fire way to get rid of that unless there isn't a party all together. Edit: Yeah, I agree, we definitely don't want any bi*ching and moaning. Being devoid of any negative feelings to make Mika happy isn't necessarily the right way to go either, but I don't think that's what you're getting at.

I spoke to Cynthia about an hour ago, and from what she said, it sounds like the backstage stuff is like a little after party.

I've just gotta say that all of my encounters with John have been reallllyyy nice. When Cynthia and I went to the Birmingham and Doncaster gigs last November, John went out of his way to tell us Happy Thanksgiving. At Doncaster when we were waiting in line for the meet and greet, John saw us and started to make small talk, which he didn't have to do either. I dunno, I guess it's just him having the job of being Mika's manager that makes him appear tough at times, but I think he really is a nice guy.

You all are talking about Boston, right??? Oh my goodness. Worst concert experience for me. The security and ushers were absolutely horrible. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to meet Luke or Mika, phunkygal. If it helps, I didn't properly meet Mika either. I did end up staying longer and waited in line. To be honest, I was frustrated from the time I got to the theater until I left.. and all because of the security. During the show they kept on patrolling the isles and pointing their dumb pen flashlights everywhere; they even went as far as telling people in my area to step back if they were a foot away from their chairs. The thing is, at Mika concerts, people generally like to jump and dance around. If security wants our shins to be touching the seats, they obviously don't know what these shows entail; but noooo... some people got yelled at by security if they didn't stay close to their chairs. And when someone said, "I can't help where I'm jumping!" the usher goes, "SECURITY!!!! PLEASE COME SHOW THIS PERSON OUT!" Absolutely ridiculous. So because we were the last to realize Mika may be coming out, the group I came with and I were at the end of the line. I was glad for that because I was secretly hoping my mood would get better by the time Mika came to our end. Surprise, surprise. "Those waiting at the end get rewarded first" is said by a security guard. I'm really sort of in a daze, and I'm trying to make myself ignore the guards, so I don't process what that means. Next thing I know, Andy is setting down and unloading his camera bag next to me, and Mika is in front of me (I was the very last in line). Because this is Mika, everyone wants to talk at the same time. Mika, being a nice guy, tries to give attention to all of them at the same time. While this is happening, a little circle sort of formed. It was me, Mika, John/Jerry (Mika's manager), Andy, Cynthia, a friend, Cynthia's husband, and back to me.Apparently the security guard took that as my turn being up. The security guard goes, "Ma'am you need to leave the line now." I'm looking ... I quickly tell the security guard, "Oh, I haven't had the chance to talk to him yet" and I turn back towards the circle. The security guard waits a minute while watching me, and then repeats himself. I'm thinking if he's watching me, he obviously doesn't see that I haven't had the chance to talk to Mika. So I repeat myself also. Then he's about an inch away from my face, on the verge of yelling and with a forced smile clearly saying don't mess with him, and saying, "MA'AM, you need to leave the line now." I got scared and frustrated to I just turned to leave our little circle completely unsatisfied. As I took about two steps, all of the sudden Mika is in front of me shaking my hand as a goodbye. Hopefully you can imagine how frustrated and angry I was at that moment, even Mika being there because I didn't expect him. It all happened so fast and I wanted to leave before getting beat up, i mumbled something like a little angry kid. I think I said, "Thanks, by the way my name is Naomi." Mika says, "Thanks, Amy" and turns back around towards his fans. So even though my name is Naomi, he thinks I'm Amy. :roftl: Has something ever turned out so badly that you just have to laugh? As horrible as that night was, I can't help but see the humor in how incredibly and utterly unexpected everything turned out. Cynthia helped me fill in the blanks later on. She said that Mika had seen me getting told to leave, and when he turned back towards them after saying bye to me, his facial expression looked like he was thinking "I hope she'll be ok." She may be wrong, she may be right, but I'm just going to assume she's right for the sake of having something good happen. Sorry, I just needed to get all of that out. I'm sure you would have wanted to be there, even with the dumb security acting that way; but hopefully you'll meet him under better circumstances, phunkygal.

Ahh ok.. yeah, I’ve picked a better teacher, so hopefully I'll have interesting stuff to share. So you guys have two separate books, interesting. We just have one and it’s split in half… hhahaha maybe for more “detailed” learning? (probably not… ) You know, I tried to sell back one of my books, but they would have given me $2. Geez.. I hate how companies come out with new editions every year, so I can’t sell books back because they are old editions. Lame… How did you think Uranus was pronounced? Oh Ryan! Hahahahahah – I’m laughing because I thought –rion was spelt as ryan as well; at least we know better $275 for tickets?! Geez.. I wonder if anyone would actually pay that much. Yeah, Cynthia bought 2 tickets and they gave her balcony. When I bought mine, I was able to find closer ones on the ground. I suppose when you buy tickets in pairs or more, they presume (understandably) that friends want to stick together. Or maybe it’s just a matter of availability… there are prob. more single seats Oh wow, I sort of like that idea of independent study. Personally, I like learning in smaller groups, so you can see how independent study is appealing to me.  Not meeting every week and going to labs when you want to… sounds even better! It was worth a try

You’re right, I really can’t see people staying in their seats either. That’s like one of the big “Not to do”s of concerts. You have to take photography as an independent study? Weird… so what does that mean exactly?

I feel ya. OK you've officially made me jealous with your astronomy class. The most exciting thing that happened in mine was getting an extension on a paper... we never did anything exciting, let alone cool dry ice experiments. Hmm.. no, I don't think we used any bio or chem either. We did have some math, though. You know those equations for finding mass, density, etc. (all the "fun" stuff). I think the farthest we got was discussing each planet in detail. For example, talking about the moons for each planet, the atmosphere, gravitational pulls, cores, etc. Now that I think about it, I really don't know what to expect for the next part of the class.. you've got me curious, though, so maybe I'll pull out my book tomorrow I think I remember you mentioning that you're a photography major, right? Have you gotten into any of those classes yet? Well, your myspace (lovely glasses, btw ) and I know he's probably seen what I look like from when Cynthia posted a picture of her, Mika and I in the "Okay..." thread. Ahhh I know right! You can completely lose yourself at a Mika concert. That's what I love about them the most. It doesn't matter if someone is normally shy, because for that night, that person can shed any normal exterior and become crazy. Absolutely love it.

Yeahhhh I finished finals last Wednesday, so I'm glad about that. No school for about 3 weeks!! Hahahah I have to say, I'm impressed that you can at least find a few more constellations. My first homework assignment was to identify 5 of them, and I had the hardest time ever! I remember looking at the sky and thinking, "I can make absolutely ANYTHING by connecting the dots, how am I supposed to find specific ones?" Even the North Star was hard to find for me, because they all looked equally bright! Hahah but yeah... I think I saw Orions belt.. not sure though. Whoa, what a nice teacher. I wish ours thought of taking us to a planetarium or out to look through the telescopes. We have a place to go for that, of course, but it being required would give me the extra push to actually go. Hahah well... I have a few more core classes to get out of the way, and Astronomy is one of them. We have to take 8 credit hours, and each science class has two parts. I took astronomy because I had enough of bio and chem in high school, so that's basically why. I don't particularly enjoy it, but it's something new, so I can find some of the stufff interesting. Can I just say how adorable your reaction was? It's like Chicken Little afraid of the sky falling Crap son... I had no idea they have two tails. Shows you how much I listened, eh? Although.. maybe that's what I'll learn in the 2nd class (the 2nd half of the book). I'll just go ahead and assume that's the case The Northern Lights!!! Oh man that sucks that you didn't get to see them! Seeing that is on my list of things to do before I die My post is long too, so no worries. Hahahah yes.. meeting an identity. I dunno how likely that would be. If I were in Rilo's shoes, I'd probably maintain my whole mysterious air and not tell anyone who I am. Actually, I can very well see that happening. Yesss! Chocolate is the best! I live in Georgia... a long long long drive, but well worth it. I don't take nearly enough road trips, so I'm looking forward to that. What state do you live, if you don't mind me asking? OH! You take Astronomy?! I do too! Well, I took the first part in Spring 2007, and I'm taking the 2nd part next semester (Spring '08). How do you like the class? & no way I'd laugh at wishing on a shooting star (I secretly do that as well... shhhh ). A few years back, there was a meteor shower and around 3 or 4 AM, my parents drove my siblings and I to a nearby mountain. We brought blankets and stuff, and laid down for a few hours watching the sky. Absolutely beautiful. I think I counted over 30 shooting stars that night. Unfortunately I don't remember if any of my wishes came true....

Hahahah good luck with that. Hopefully it's not too hard to manage for Mika. Oh my fault, I didn't mean that sort of partying. I meant to make it as a joke that since our seats are close to each other, we'll meet at seat number whatever and "throw a party." I actually don't drink either, so that wouldn't work out too well Yeah, the plan is driving for me as well. I think right now the idea is to drive to Boston, go to NY to visit some friends, stay the weekend, and then make it back in time for classes on Monday. If it does end up snowing, then those plans will have to change drastically... but we'll see.
