Hi all,
I`m a fan from Australia. My family own a record store, and I was researching the sounds of quite a few of the latest cd's, as I am going to be in pre-production soon for my own cd. So, amongst the White Stripes, James Morrison, Amy Winehouse etc etc, there was a Mika cd... I don't watch much tv and hardly ever bother with the charts, so I gotta say I didn't know who he was... but the cd was a new release and the cover was funky/hippy... just the way I like it (in fact my cover will be a little similar in style)....
Now I can't get enough of Mika. I`m a fan for life. Very rarely does an artist hit me like this..... he is now up with Coldplay, Seal, Nina Simone, George Michael and a few others, on high rotation in my cd player etc.
The thing I love the most, apart from the brilliant songwriting and voice, is that Mika is also very eclectic.... he hasn't been afraid to put songs from alot of different genres and sounds on one album.... which I`m sure his record company and others would have been scared about. Well done to Universal etc for having courage and faith. I can't believe he was rejected for two years.... fools. I love the artists he reminds me of in his songs.... Scissor Sisters (Love love me), Beatles (Mr Brown), Queen (Grace Kelly) etc etc.... .
Oh, and the cd.... excellent production. Will definitely try and contact his producer/studio... probably too expensive for me of course, but will ask
Hopefully will see Mika in Holland in August, as I`m gigging in Holland then too. Really hanging out to see Mika live
