  1. Apple launched new iPods today and on one of the demos...wait for it...the guy demonstrating plays a MIKA song. It's short but is sure is SWEET. Yet another step in MIKA's conquering of the American music scene. here's the link: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/features.html
  2. I love the end when she hits the screen. Fantastic!
  3. I've been poking around the MFC for a few weeks-ish but just came across this today. I'm a real Sherlock, I know. I just want to say hi to all fellow Mika fans out there. I discovered Mika back in April when I was poking around the UK iTunes store. I live in the US but, let's just say I was unsatisfied by the Top list in here so I thought I would check out what was going on over seas. Voila! I saw LICM on the Top Albums list (I have to say it was actually the album art that attracted me first). Listened to maybe two songs and decided I had to have the album. I of course feared that when I looked in the US music store it wouldn't be there. BTW how annoying is it that there isn't just one music store...erg...Anyway, lo and behold it was there, I bought it and it hasn't come out of my cars CD player since I bought it. What else...I'm male, which would seem to put me just a bit in the minority here. But I like to think it just makes me unique. Everyone likes to be unique right? Oh, and I like lollipops, pizza, and have a firm belief that there is no such thing as too much Diet Coke.
  4. Thanks so much for posting! David,-- Is there any way you could upload a bigger image?- because I'd really like to read the article. I need to practice my Spanish badly and what better way than to read about than Mika.
  5. The promo spot for Ugly Betty featuring Big Girl is online on youtube. This is the one that you could see being made in the making of vid on abc.com. I love it. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqb9uZFcBtE
  6. Yeah I really hope they still come through with the promo they described in the making of video. That one sounded really cool.
  7. I actually really like it - for tv. I think it's important to remember he's not releasing it as a single and it's not replacing BIG GIRL as there is only one Big Girl. It's supposed to be kinda strange and kinda gimmicky - it's for a commercial after all. But one thing's for sure...It'll get people's attention- and hopefully get them dancing too! OH, I posted this on another thread, but thought I'd copy it here too: There's a "making of" video of the new Betty Girl promo spot on the ABC website, it's hidden but it's there. You can here the new lyrics playing in the background too! go to:http://www.abc.go.com/video/index and scroll down untill you see the behind the scenes section and click on the Ugly Betty vid. It's funny that they all had no clue what the video was about, but the concept for the promo sounds very MIKA-ish, no? Hope this works for y'all and maybe it'll tide us over till we can see the real thing.
  8. HAHAHA...I probably looked up Happy Ending lyrics about 10 times this past week alone...wonder if that helped at all. Thanks for the report; three songs in the top 50 = SWEET, as Napoleon might say.

  10. I just read this on thefutoncritic.com [08.15.07 - 10:50 AM] "UGLY BETTY" IS "BRIGHTER, BOLDER, BETTYER" WITH A NEW MARKETING CAMPAIGN FEATURING THE SERIES' CAST AND UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC'S HIT RECORDING ARTIST MIKA Released by ABC [NOTE: The following article is a press release issued by the aforementioned network and/or company. Any errors, typos, etc. are attributed to the original author. The release is reproduced solely for the dissemination of the enclosed information.] "UGLY BETTY" IS "BRIGHTER, BOLDER, BETTYER" WITH A NEW MARKETING CAMPAIGN FEATURING THE SERIES' CAST AND UNIVERSAL REPUBLIC'S HIT RECORDING ARTIST MIKA On-Air Campaign Premieres August 16 Exclusive Music Video "Betty Girl" Available at ABC.com ABC premieres the new "Ugly Betty" marketing campaign, "Brighter, Bolder, Bettyer," on-air August 16 with new spots featuring the entire cast of the Emmy-nominated series. Featured in the campaign is music from Universal Republic's hit recording artist Mika. Mika re-recorded his smash single "Big Girl" (now "Betty Girl") from his chart topping album, "Life in Cartoon Motion," which is currently #1 in Europe, specifically for the campaign. The on-air campaign is produced by the Saline Project, who have created videos for Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas and The Hives, to name a few. In addition, a music video featuring Mika recording "Betty Girl," along with scenes from his "Big Girl" music video, and memorable moments from Season One of "Ugly Betty," can be found on ABC.com. About "Ugly Betty" In the superficial world of high fashion, image is everything. Styles come and go, and the only constants are the superthin beauties who wear them. How can an ordinary size 12 girl from Queens possibly fit in? "Ugly Betty" stars America Ferrera as Betty Suarez, Eric Mabius as Daniel Meade, Alan Dale as Bradford Meade, Tony Plana as Ignacio, Ana Ortiz as Hilda, Ashley Jensen as Christina, Becki Newton as Amanda, Mark Indelicato as Justin, Michael Urie as Marc, Kevin Sussman as Walter, Rebecca Romijn as Alexis Meade and Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater. Based on "Yo Soy Betty La Fea," the groundbreaking Colombian telenovela that became an international phenomenon, "Ugly Betty" is from ABC Studios. Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Salma Hayek is executive producer, along with Silvio Horta ("Urban Legends"), Ben Silverman, ("The Office"), Jose Tamez ("The Maldonado Miracle"), James Hayman ("Joan of Arcadia") and Marco Pennette ("Caroline in the City"). About Mika Casablanca/Universal Republic's 23-year-old phenom recording artist, Mika, went straight to #1 on the UK album charts with his 11-song disk, moving 107,000 copies of the eclectic new album and adding to an unparalleled string of #1s for a debut artist: #1 single "Grace Kelly." The infectious single is also the #1 iTunes song in the UK, #1 on the national and regional airplay charts, as well as holding down the #1 video slot in the country. The charismatic newcomer also owns the #1 album on iTunes, an incredible launch for an artist who was turned down by virtually every record company with his visionary brand of groundbreaking, kiss-goodbye-the-cookie cutter song making. The Lebanese migr has already topped the prestigious BBC Sound of Music Poll for 2007, which has anointed previously-unknown superstars such as 50 Cent and Keane. The London-based singer/songwriter has taken to describing himself on his delectable hand-scrawled MySpace site as "Beck via Queen and Elton John with a touch of Rufus W.," throwing in Harry Nilsson, of course. U.S. audiences are already getting their own healthy dose of the multi-talented performer, thanks to his hit video for "Grace Kelly," which has become a staple of MTV. I don't know how to take that, because it still seems like MTV doesn't play him here in the US. But I liked the article all the same.
  11. Now don't get mad...but Wayne Wilcox just really reminds me of MIKA whenever I see him. Try to imagine MIKA's hair on his head! P.S. Wayne Wilcox played Marty on the Gilmore Girls, he been in other stuff too, that's just where I saw him first.
  12. OBVIOUSLY all of MIKA's performances are great. But I have to say the Atlanta version of Stuck in the Middle is honestly one of the best live versions I've ever heard. PHENOMENAL.
  13. That's awesome news. I got so excited last season when MIKA was playing in the background of a scene at a club last year on Betty. I had to do a double take - I was like is that?... It IS!!!...Woot!
  14. He's #32 today. Down two spots - gross.
  15. hmmm...You would probably know better than I. It was in a quiz a while back in one of the threads. Maybe he's picked some up on his travels - touring and stuff. Oh, well.
  16. I was told he does. Some, at least. Name the artist, whose name is also four letters, that MIKA admires for his versatility.
  17. Absolutely - why not the Hokey Pokey too?
  18. OH!!! This whole time I was thinking of citizenship- oops. Guess there is a difference there.
  19. ChewChew (sp?) chases Lollipop Girl...um...I'm sure Mika has plenty of people in love with him. Does that count?
  20. Now I'm just curious... What is his nationality? There seem to be quite a few options, Lebonese, British, American...
  21. 1983. What is the name of the monkey who chases Lollipop Girl?
  22. I seem to remember Relax coming first. Not sure though.
  23. I think most of the singles have at least one song that isn't on LICM. There's one song that I really like on one of them called "The Only Lonely One" - It's a demo and I think it's on Love Today, but I'm not sure:P I know it's on youtube somewhere.
  24. I've seen this on other forums around the net. I thought we could give it a go here. It works like this: I'll post a question about MIKA or his music and the next person has to answer it. That person then asks a question and the next person andswers it and posts another question...you get the idea. It just keeps going. Be as creative and innovative as possible. That said, I'll start with an easy one. How many different colors are mentioned in "Grace Kelly"?
