  1. The 'Silly Sausage' managed to hit himself in the mouth with his microphone during 'Love Today' and cut his lip .... Jules came over all Mumsy and gave him a tissue
  2. I'm really quite looking forward to this now, seems like ages since we've seen MIKA singing live (well I suppose it has been really) Did anyone else from here manage to wrangle tickets ? .... I know what a resourceful bunch you can be where MIKA is concerned
  3. What a lovely pic to remind you all of a wonderful experience, thanks for sharing.
  4. When you think about how much joy he brings us all, it was nice to give just a little bit back and give him something that made HIM happy.
  5. Grrrrrrr, the same thing happened to us at the last Brighton gig and we vowed never to go to that venue again. What makes it worse is I suspect the door staff do it on purpose, as some sort of power trip. It's not rocket science to get people into a hall in the order they were queued up outside, they just can't be bothered. Really sorry you had to go through that Babs, hope you still managed to get an 'ok' spot (Virtual hugs)
  6. The moment we handed over Minimika has turned up on youtube Look at his little face, just like a child with a new toy. A big THANK YOU to the person who uploaded it and also to lyli21 who sent us the link
  7. Thanks again Neactegale for posting your M & G pics, you've captured the moment really well. By the way, just how cool was his jacket with the little clear plastic 'windows' on the cuffs Another funny moment I forgot to mention was after the show when Jules asked one of the security men to pick up 2 feathers from the other side of the barrier (Dr John's coat was moulting) he looked at us like we were from another planet....lol
  8. Glad you enjoyed yourselves (hope my big head being in the way didn't spoil your enjoyment too much:blush-anim-cl: )
  9. Fantastic night to finish off a fantastic weekend (we saw Lady Gaga at the O2 on Saturday night) We arrived at about 1.15 and got numbers 66 & 67 in the queue, then got the chairs out of the car and prepared for the long cold wait for the doors to open at 7.00 (and it was cold......VERY COLD) After a while John came out and told us that once the staff arrive at around 4.00 he had arranged for those MFC'ers who had been there the longest to queue inside for the last few hours. As it turned out the staff didn't let us in until nearer 5.00 o'clock but it was certainly appreciated. We soon warmed up once inside and it was lovely to be able to sit on the floor and chat amongst ourselves. It also gave us a chance to see the Big Girls and Lollypop Girls being put through their paces through the inner doors. I'm not sure how much credit John gets on here for what he does for us all but I have to say I for one feel very lucky to have someone so thoughtful looking out for us. At about 6.40 we attempted to line up in number order before being allowed to go through to the next doors, pretty sure the order wasn't quite right but once we went through it turned into a wide queue at the next doors which was more of a free for all, so the numbers were pretty much out of the window by now as the queue was as wide as it was deep. We stood behind 4 girls on the left hand side and luckily the member of staff checked our tickets while we were waiting so once the doors opened he let us straight though. We followed Rose and headed for the left hand side of the front row and managed to get a really good spot. Given the fact we were numbers 66 and 67 we didn't expect to get front row but I guess this makes up for Brighton when we were about the 6th to arrive but ended up around row 10.....call it karma. The gig itself was amazing, MIKA's voice is stronger than ever, with so signs of strain from what must be an intensive tour for him. Don't know what it was but he seemed to really have a twinkle in his eye last night and was really going for it. He made reference to the technical problems and thanked the audience to just going with the flow and being supportive. I thought the crowd was amazing last night, I looked over my shoulder in Billy Brown and I think every single arm was waving....quite a sight. Once the show was over we made our way to the M&G line as some of you will know we had a little gift we have been trying to give to MIKA but missed him at the Alan Carr show. We call him Minimika..... Success !!! we managed to give it to him and he loved it, Jules noticed someone was filming his reaction when he got it so if it was an MFC'er and they are reading this, please could you upload the clip, we'd love to see it. BIG thank you to everyone in the queue before and after the show who helped to make our evening so special, we thought Gaga would take some beating but our Sunday night was even better than the Saturday. Totally awesome weekend (now to catch up on some sleep)
  10. yeah, I remember him talking about Bill Nighy and the screensaver, he said he'd know him for quite a few years (don't know why but I was surprised by that...lol) Having trouble watching your vlog though, part 6 freezes for me at 2:34
  11. Awww, thanks Babs. To be honest, most of the time for us (like yourself) the M & G is just about getting a chance to thank him. Last night though, we really wanted to get Jules' promo signed (the one of the album before they changed the name to TBWKTM) I'd even made a special trip into town the day before to buy a new GAWLDEN pen especially but it was certainly worth it, as we were really pleased with the result...one to treasure.
  12. You've just been spoilt because he made a point of coming over especially to talk to you in Blackpool, even though you were sitting down and making no attempt to speak to him ....lol He can be such a pain sometimes can't he? Bloody stalker
  13. One thing which never fails to amaze me is how any number of people can view the same event completely differently. That said, each version of events can still be totally valid. I have to admit I was worried before MIKA came out that he would be swamped but despite there being quite a crowd around him I thought he always looked comfortable and in control of the situation. He didn't chat at length with anyone but he seemed to make his way round to most people who wanted to see him. I was fully expecting him to jump in the car and drive off because of the way the majority of people were huddled round the door but all credit to him he handled the situation really well. Obviously each person has their own view on how to behave at these things, personally I think MIKA is more likely to spend longer there if people hang back initially and give him room and also move aside quickly once they have had their moment with him. We did the same as Babs and waited across the road until he came out but once he did we made our way over and stood on the fringes of the group, he soon made his way to us so we could get our promo signed and we went home very happy bunnies. I'm still on a real high from last night, it was so special perhaps I am just remembering it with rose tinted spectacles but I thought the M & G had the potential to be a disaster but it turned out quite good in the end. p.s. Jules has gone to see 'Grumpy Old Women' tonight, but I bet she still comes home with a smile on her face and on a high from last nights gig. Not even a night of women moaning will be enough to turn her mood
  14. I can't agree more with everything that has been posted so far, what a magical evening. Just about everything to do with this gig was perfect, the venue, the atmosphere, the acoustics, the harmonies, the set list and the vocal performances were all second to none. The only blemish on a perfect night was the cameraman who decided to block our view on all of the 'sit down' songs, That was only a minor irritation though, it just gave us more time to soak up the ambience and see what else was going on while we were being whisked away by MIKA's voice. Loved some of the little anecdotes he slipped in between tracks like the lady with the newspaper he saw on the tube to Angel who inspired Blue Eyes and the fact he f**ked up 'Over My Shoulder' when he sang it there a few years ago and he'd always wanted to come back and do it right one day (and he certainly did last night) LOVED it when he did the 'MFC Rain Dance' He did it with a real twinkle in his eye, and it was SO obviously for the benefit of the MFC. I hope MIKA gets all the recognition and success he deserves and he continues to grow as an artist and play to big audiences all around the world but I also hope he continues to support causes like MENCAP and slip in the odd intimate gig like last night, I feel so lucky to have been there. It was lovely to meet up with the usual crowd and also some new MFC'ers too, thanks for taking the time to come over and say hi. Oh, and Rose....so glad you got your picture taken with Jo Whiley, we saw your face as you walked away and you looked so happy, it was lovely to see Is it February yet?
  15. Apologies, I've been working very long hours and really neglecting the MFC for the past month or so (note to self....must try harder) ......but Jules and I are really looking forward to this gig, the venue looks amazing Also excited about meeting up with all you lovely peeps again, although sadly we won't be able to get there early this time ps. A big thank you to everyone who has made kind comments about Jules 'MiniMika' banner, I enjoyed doing it, glad you like it.
  16. When I first heard 'Life in Cartoon Motion' I thought it was totally original and the first album in years on which I loved every single track. Ok, time to hold my hands up and make an admission... When MIKA started working on a second album I really didn't expect it to measure up, in fact I would go as far as to say I fully expected to be disappointed by it. The songs for sorrow EP should have given me a clue that he still had the golden touch but I have to say 'The Boy Who Knew Too Much' blew me away on the first listen and I find myself appreciating it more and more with every listen. It really is a breathtaking piece of work, and every bit as good (and original) as 'Life In Cartoon Motion'. The three videos we have been lucky enough to see so far compliment the music perfectly and add a whole new dimension to the songs. I honestly can't pick a favourite video from these three though, I love them all equally for completely different reasons. The boy might actually know too much after all.
  17. The venue is called "The Brighton Centre" and it is very easy to find. It is right on the seafront and is about a 5 minute walk west of the main Pier.
  18. A word of warning for anyone going to Brighton and planning to get there early and queue for a front row place. This venue has absolutely the WORST organisation of any venue we have ever visited. The last time MIKA played here we arrived at about midday and were among the first 10 or so people there. It was a horrendous, windy, rainy day and there was very little shelter for those of us queuing, but we thought it would be worth 7 hours of discomfort if it meant we got to be in the front row. They opened the doors at about 6.30 but once inside there were 4 or 5 separate entrances to the main hall, all of which were still locked. We asked which doors would be opened first and were told they all open at the same time so we chose the one on the right hand side nearest the stage (assuming that when they opened we would be closest to the stage and therefore assured a spot in the front row) After about an hour of waiting outside the hall you can probably guess what happened next, we could just see through the doors into the hall as people flooded in from every door other than the one we were waiting by. Even when we pointed this out to the stupid woman who was supposed to be unlocking our door, she still wouldn't let us in until she had "had the OK" to do so. The net result was we had spent 6 hours getting soaked and freezing our arses off and still ended up about 10 rows back. The door staff were completely lacking in character and there was no banter with them during the day. In fact, the only time they spoke to us was when they were barking at us to move when they altered the barriers, as the queue got longer. I couldn't prove it but I got the impression that because we dared to ask which door would be opened first that we were deliberately held back, could be wrong but given their attitude for the rest of the day we wouldn't be surprised. To add insult to injury once inside we had some demented woman behind us who thought we should move out of the way and let her kids push their way to the front just because they were little and couldn't see properly, when we refused and pointed out that we had been queuing all day and still ended up where we were, we ended up getting sarcastic comments and personal insults for the whole all night from their group, I had no intention of getting thrown out after queing for so long so I held my tongue while the gig was on. One of the men made a comment as we were leaving but perhaps not surprisingly he went very quiet when I squared up to him and asked him to repeat what he had said. Got home to find the back of my shirt has been splashed with lip gloss or something similar....what lovely people. All in all it was without a doubt our worst gigging experience, although MIKA was bloody brilliant, but even for MIKA we won’t be booking for this venue again. I'm not trying to put anyone off going to the Brighton gig but just be aware that you might not end up in the front row
  19. It's outrageous that we are being kept waiting this long for news of the UK dates. It's as if MIKA and his management have NO REGARD for us UK fans whatsoever, we get treated so badly sometimes it's beyond belief !! ....but seriously, the longer this announcement takes, the better for us (we're just a little bit skint at the moment....lol)
  20. Cheap !! They did suppy all of us with a packed lunch which comprised of a ham sandwich, an apple, a bag of crisps, a bar of chocolate and a carton of juice if my memory serves me correctly (The ones who filmed the bit in the high street got breakfast too !!) We sure did
  21. I really like this video, obviously compared to 'We Are Golden' it is very understated, but I have to say I thought it was incredibly stylish (So glad we now have Sky HD as it looks good enough to eat in High Definition) The intro hooked me straight away, beautifully worked camera angle and I've always been a sucker for black & white changing to colour, probably goes back to my childhood and endless Christmas's watching The Wizard of Oz. The pastel colours worked well IMHO and make a nice contrast to the IN YOUR FACE colour explosion that is 'We Are Golden' Don't like comparing it to anything else as it really is a unique piece of work but the dancers choreography reminded me very much of the Chemical Brothers video for 'Let Forever Be' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHpgycHaK_8 I'm surprised how many people on here are not keen on this video but as has been said many times it would be boring if we all liked the same things, personally though.... I Love it !!
