  12. Wow. I am floored at how fast this thread grew, and how large it's become. Most of you probably notice that I don't post in many threads that are not technical, but I do read many of them. I also don't always have a chance to reply to the kind words that many of you post my way, but they always bring a smile to my face. I've said it before, and I will say it again: The only reason I work as I do for this community is because of how wonderful it is. We all have something truly miraculous here. I was very tickled pink by the amount of people viewing the error page. It really turned a random blow-off-steam-project into something that got the attention we needed. I'm sorry that I don't remember the members who were linking me to squirrels, videos, chickens and rainbow backgrounds, but thanks to all of you. I'm also very glad that we were able to use that page to find each other in Christine's chat thingy. I've removed Mika's message from that error page, but i've left the link to the chat, as well as the videos and the picture. Hopefully we don't have any more downtime in the near future, but if we do, we'll all be able to kick back and chat again. I do plan to add a link to the chat on the top bar, and will eventually look at integrating it fully into the MFC, but until we're sure that everything is tip top, I'd like to keep it separate so that we have something when the forum is down. I will also put a message up letting people know that they need to register specifically for the chat. I must say that this post brought back some really fun memories of when I decided it would be a bright idea to customize the error page. Again, it wouldn't have turned out as neat if there was not a roomful of people giving me good ideas. Basically, THANK YOU MFC for being a community that is worth moving the moon (and more) for.
  13. It seems this all started out of concern about server resources. Perhaps it would help if I explain to you that with the current server, quantity of threads is not the issue. Of course, we don't want to see threads created that have no purpose. That just clutters up our site. But if people want to create threads that may have value to them and not others, that sort of thing isn't what affects server performance, and doesn't cost anyone any extra money. What affects server performance is "clicks" - every time someone clicks on a new thread, clicks on a new page, etc. It has to do with general traffic in terms of how many people are on the site and for how long, rather than how many threads there are. Hopefully, that helps clear things up.
  14. Personally, I prefer to stand during a Mika concert. he's not the type you can exactly sit still for. I think venues like the Wiltern are the best. Standing room up front and a seated area behind.
