  2. Thanks for posting Here a little traduction of the video (and sorry in advance for my english mistakes ) Journalist : Friends of Jetset, welcome with Tunisiana live from Hollywood and today news from Hollywood are about music ! We will take you on the shooting of a video clip, from a lebanese singer called Mika ! Mika has choosen Los Angeles to shoot the video clip of his new album which single is called "Underwater". Mika : I'm escaping from a world, an armageddon it's the end of the world and in my bag i have the last light of the planet, the last light of the universe because there is no more sun, there is nothing. Journalist : It's not the first time that Mika comes to Los Angeles, he has recorded other albums here in the studios of L.A and his third album "The origin of love" has been written and recorded is the city of angels. The album has immediately found his public by being number 1 in the states without being played on the american radio. Mika : Each time i realease something on the Internet, we can see each time that it's in first the USA where people see the most my clips and for example most of my facebook users are from USA. I'm not commercial at all here, it's only on internet and so we organized this little 5 dates tour it was really to see what it was going to happen here and in 52 seconds every tickets were sold. Journalist : There's not only the video clip, Mika has at the same time, done a little tour in the USA which has a lot of success and he's planning to do a new tour in the USA and a show in New York or Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. Thank you for your reports, videos and pictures I was there too and it was really an amazing show, the venue was really beautiful, i love so much going to Mika show in such beautiful and cosy theaters, it changes from the festivals (which i love too but in theaters it's not the same ) Mika was really happy to come back in France, he made a lot of jokes The surprise of the ballons went very well, (a special thank to Béa ) as said Camille, the first rows had several ones and we threw them on stage at the end of TOOL, it was so beautiful But i think he didn"t see well the flowers, we threw them just at the end of the show. I'm a bit disappointed that he didn't sang We are golden but well, we had Karen and un soleil mal luné so, i forgive him Here my pictures :
  8. Found this on twitter By Spindle on October 22, 2012 Mika erupted onto our radars in 2007 with debut number one record Life In Cartoon Motion, with a follow up record in 2009. This year sees the return of the colourful, caricature chameleon with his most personal record to date: Origin Of Love. Incessant touring and a more biographical approach, the album sees Mika submerge into the personal depths and his efforts will be sure to envelope it’s audience with it’s simplistic melodies. Spindle caught up with the man just to find out more about pseudonyms and penning hits for Madonna. It’s been three years since your last record. What have you been up to? Well I made the first record and the second was a continuation from that. I’ve just been touring incessantly like a maniac. I didn’t tour much at all with the first few records so I’ve had a lot of making up to do. I wanted to re-establish myself by travelling around and doing live shows. I started off playing small clubs in Asia and ended up filling arenas. I’m an artist that isn’t always guaranteed radio, so when I do it’s ****ing great. What is the concept of the new album Origin Of Love? I didn’t write anything for this new record when I was touring. I knew I wanted to do something that was really fresh and revolutionary and I chose to remove all of the complexes about my subject matter. It took me a while to create that separation so that I could re-approach it as if I was almost a new artist. Are there any particular places or countries where you prefer to write? Away. When I first started out, a woman re-mortgaged her house to finance my first demos. She lived in Miami. It’s kind of similar with this record. I flew out to Montreal to work alongside Nick Littlemore from Empire Of The Sun and within hours of us chatting on the phone I’d booked my flight out there. I also write for other artists and, in pop music, a lot of people write purely with the target demographic in mind and not for themselves. I approach the studio with the attitude that we’ll be working together as a team and we’ll make music that we want to listen to. Is it difficult to differentiate writing music for other artists and keeping hits for yourself? I write under many different names, Alice is the one that has recently been leaked. Alice is now a trollop (laughs). I also write for different countries and writing under a diverse range of names helps me separate myself from it. I wrote a track on Madonna’s MDNA called Bang Bang, which she made her own and titled it Gang Bang. That became out of my hands and she definitely did that song justice. She re-invented it because she’s Madonna. The song is almost like a movie; it’s a mini concept and is cinematographic. My inspiration for the song was my grandfather and all of the old saying that he used to have: “Like a fish outta water, like a bat out of hell”. What was the inspiration behind the new album? Freedom. I wrote and recorded the album at the same time. It’s a liberated record. I didn’t want to write another record about cartoon characters or caricatures. It was a conscious effort to make it my most personal record yet. With my other albums I would almost tell stories through characters and I became the narrator. I had to approach this album differently because it was from my point of view and everything reflects that, down to the album art. Are you fashion conscious? How important is image to an artist’s career? I’m not fashion conscious, no, but I am style conscious. I’d say I’m fashion weary. Style is essential and things that are fashion faux-pas one day will be the height of fashion a few years later. Throw caution to the wind when it comes to fashion but style is about integrity and awareness. You have to always be yourself. Pharrell Williams lends vocals to the lead single Celebrate. How did the collaboration happen? It happened by accident. He got my number from a friend of mine in Miami as he’d heard about this crazy, eclectic record I wanted to make. There are people on the record that aren’t even famous but they’re part of the process. My favourite tracks are the title track and a song called Love You When I’m Drunk. You’ve been touring Europe and you’ve just announced new UK dates. What can we expect from the new shows? Lots of music and lots of people on stage making music. It starts off in a living room and erupts into this huge carnival right in front of your eyes. It’s absolute theatre. How do you feel about being a role model for the LGBT community? I’m honoured if I am a role model. I’m true to myself and I’m respectful of my sexuality. I’m tolerant of sexuality in general and I think that comes from my upbringing. I’m a young gay man and I’m comfortable with that. I’m comfortable doing interviews and saying that I’m gay, I’m happy and I’ve done it all on my own terms. 10. Here an interview from a belgium magazine http://www.moustique.be/culture/musique/150715/mika-je-deteste-la-violence-cest-une-faiblesse Mika "Je déteste la violence, c'est une faiblesse" I can't translate it now as i'm at work (but i don't know if i would be able to make a good translation so if anyone wants to do it don't hesitate )

  13. Thank you all for your reports and pictures, it was such a pleasure to read them It seemed to be an amazing festival and show !
  14. Happy Birthday Mika !! I wish you all the best and a lot of happiness. May all your dreams come true ! Have an amazing day with the people you love
  15. You're welcome Yes, it was such a great gig , i try to not think too much of what happened after Here my videos, i'm sorry they are so bad It's my cousin who filmed, he didn't film very well and you can hear him singing pretty loud (even louder than Mika sometimes ) Relax Take it easy (+ the flower jasmin and the bra ) Happy ending Extract Love today (with the boy who danced on stage with Mika ) Extract Elle me dit Extract TOOL (not enough battery to film all the song ) Mika told us he saw the pictures of the people who sang in this festival during the last 10 years and he saw Barbara. He told he saw all this singers and that it was a beautiful tradition. He told the story of his his lebanese grand ma who went to NYC when she was 16. I really loved it (but as i said in my report, i'm sorry we can't see anything more than half of the video ) Here what he said : "My father is american, but my grand ma is lebanese and my grand father syrian and my father was born in Jerusalem. But at home and in my living room it's peace. Maybe countries should be more like living rooms. My lebanese grand ma is "big" (or strong ?), she left her country when she was 16, she didn't speak english, she speaked arabic and a little bit french. She went to New York. One year later, she was having diner in front of Grace Kelly and Greta Garbo in California, she was living a life at 17 she never could imagine because at Sour and Alep, there is not Grace Kelly. And so she was at this diner in California, there were all this stars, she was only 17 and everybody was speaking to her, telling her she was very beautiful. She's always telling me this story and this is why i wrote Grace Kelly. So everybody was watching her, and Grace Kelly asked everyone to stop talking and told her "My dear, you don't speak very much". And my grand mother watched everyone and in arabic she said "Ena tahki arabi" (that means "i speak arabic") and she was not speaking english at all so during one hour and a half speaking with Grace Kelly she didn't understand a thing. This big grand mother that i love as much as i hate, like all big grand mothers, i've wrote this song which talks about her."
  16. Sorry for being late, just got home yesterday, so here my report ! With my cousin, we arrived at the venue at 16.30. We didn't know exactly when to arrive and my family didn't stop to tell me i'm crazy to go so early XD. And it was the same thing with people who work there, they all told us to go back home and to come back later ! But as we were far from home, we decided to stay in the venue and to enjoy it as gates were open. So we stayed there all the end of the afternoon, they were nobody except some tourists. We could go where we want, even on stage and behind ! (Mika's set was already on stage). At about 18.30 i saw Mika's musicians coming on stage and Mika ! I recognized him immediately, he was just coming from the airport with Yasmine (i didn't see at all Mama P or Paloma), so Mika was there discussing with a man and watching the view of the amphitheatre from the stage. They all began the rehearsals and with my cousin we stayed terraced to watch it. It was very impressive to see. He looked a little bit stressed and so concentrated ! They finished the rehersals just before the sunset and people began to arrive at 20.30. We went to take places in the second row (the 3 first rows were for the ministers and their family but a security guy let me stay in the second one). Everybody were nice with us and no one told us to leave the festival to enter with the audience. We saw extracts of the Parc des Prince DVD on a screen before the show and everybody was screaming ! Mika came on stage at 22.50 ! He began as usual with Big girl, the atmosphere was crazy ! After big girl, someone threw a jasmin flower on stage, Mika took it and put it on his hat, he said that it has the smell of his childhood. And then he explained that he was happy to come back in Tunisia and that it happened several things in his life since he came in 2010 and that it was the same for Tunisia (it was about the Revolution). And a girl threw her bra on stage, Mika took it and said by smiling "but you are going to be cold !" Just before Stuck in the middle, he told us the nice story of his lebanese grand ma who went to NYC when she was 16 and met Grace Kelly and Greta Garbo while she didn't speak english at all. I've filmed it but we see nothing half of the video because a security guy told me he was going to take my camera (but he was only trying to scare me ). Anyway i will post it. Before Billy Brown, he told us he saw the pictures of the people who sang in this festival during the last 10 years and he was happy to see Barbara. During love today he took a boy with him on stage, that was very funny ! They danced together a few seconds, i will post the video ! The audience was a great one, Mika seemed very happy and couldn't stop smiling. He said he already performed in the Nimes Arena and was really happy to perform in the Carthage arena. After WAG (no confettis) he left the stage and some people began to leave, even the security told us to go ! But with my friend we began to scream "no no he's coming back on stage !" and 2 minutes after he came back to sing TOOL and Grace kelly, magical as usual ! After the show With a friend, we went to search the stage door, it was difficult because there was a lot of people and we didn't know where it was. Finally we saw many people just behind the stage waiting so we went there at the end of the barrier. The waiting was cool, some people were singing, it was fun ! But i was just near the crazy girl who tried to jump on Mika ! She couldn't stop crying and saying "i want to see Mika i want to see Mika" People were making fun of her, and she was even filmed by TV !!! She was absolutely ridiculous. At 1 o clock, Mika came out. But as you saw in the video it was a completely mess ! People were all around him, even trying to just touch him. I wonder HOW the girl succeded to jump on the barriers without anyone to stop her before ! I was at the end of the barrier and saw everything helpessly:huh: i was so disgusted by this people and always trying to understand how this could happen. I think tunisian people are not used to receive "stars" every year, and it's most of the time impossible for them to attend a meet and greet and to be "near" the artist. I'm really sad and angry this amazing show endend like that ! Will post you my pictures and videos later ( and sorry for my english mistakes !!)
  17. Yes, what happened after the show was such a shame !
