Éric Jean-Jean ( he is a host of RTL ) INSTAGRAM https://www.instagram.com/reel/C48wnkrrwZI/ https://www.instagram.com/p/C4-Rf8kArRb/ wrote « Pour faire le portrait d’un oiseau, peindre d’abord une cage » Cage lumineuse, en guise d’oiseau, un diablotin, Lucifer, le Diable cool de la série télé. Spectaculaire ouverture. To paint a portrait of a bird, first paint a cage” Light cage, as a bird, an imp, Lucifer, the cool Devil from the TV series. Spectacular opening. @mikainstagram place the @accor_arena soundbar at the entrance. Almost empty stage, huge video screen. 4 musicians. And him. “Wait for the bird to enter the cage and when it has entered, gently close the door with the brush then erase all the bars one by one” Of Mika's work, I only know the broad outlines, but I know from having often encountered him that he is a brilliant and empathetic character. When he came to @festivalodp ,, he was great, both on stage and with the orphans. I also remember a very poetic, pop, colorful and dreamlike stage performance, and this rare osmosis with the audience. Two rows down, a little girl, I'd say 6 years old, in a sequined jacket, making hearts with her fingers and dancing next to her mother, it's pretty. Mika greets his “Enfants terribles de la pit”, arms raised and cries of joy. Smile, tall, slender frame and numerous costume changes. Bercy like a toy box which, like a burst of laughter, joyfully explodes in our faces, carrying millions of multicolored and luminous confetti in its wake. “Then paint the portrait of the tree by choosing the most beautiful of its branches for the bird, also painting the green foliage and the freshness of the wind, the dust of the sun and the noise of the animals of the grass in the heat of the summer " Self-acceptance, inclusion, “Big Girls you are beautiful”, here he is alone in the crowd that he skips through. Mika sings for everyone, but above all speaks to everyone. Now placed on a neon sign similar to those in old-fashioned nightclubs, he spreads his arms and holds the crowd with his disco heart. Final mantra bludgeoned on the drums: “Love Love Love”. Golden reminder, “We are golden” “If the bird does not sing it is a bad sign, a sign that the painting is bad but if it sings it is a good sign, a sign that you can sign” -Jacques Prevert-

  9. Attitude Magazine https://www.attitude.co.uk/culture/brighton-pride-2024-our-5-picks-for-mikas-headline-setlist-462716/ 28 March 2024 Brighton Pride 2024: Attitude’s 5 picks for Mika’s headline setlist The iconic vocalist will be joining Girls Aloud this August in Preston Park Brighton Pride 2024 is mere months away, with Girls Aloud and Mika leading the lineup for this year’s FABULOSO in the Park fundraiser held Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August. Joining them on the Brighton & Hove Pride FABULOSO main stage will be Billy Porter, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, S Club and Gabrielle, with the full lineup already announced. In eager anticipation of seeing the lovely Mika take to the stage in Preston Park, team Attitude has picked our five favourite Mika tracks that we’re praying to see this year at Brighton Pride. 1. ‘Grace Kelly’ You can’t go wrong with arguably Mika’s most famous track, one that’s guaranteed to get even the most closeted Mika fans among us unashamedly singing along in the sunshine. 2. ‘Big Girl you are Beautiful’ The OG body-positivity track, ‘Big Girls’ is a joyous, fun and fabulous number to get on down to anytime time of the year. You don’t even need to be either big or a girl to enjoy this one – anyone is welcome in the world of Mika. 3. ‘Lollipop’ Showcasing Mika’s superhuman high-pitched vocal prowess, Lollipop appears like a CBeebies show theme song on the surface, but actually carries a message about not giving away your power. Analysis aside, it’s yet another fun and upbeat Mika track to get your dance on to. 4. ‘Popular Song’ ft. Ariana Grande We’re crediting this song, based on a track of the same name from the musical Wicked, for landing Ariana a part in the movie adaptation of the Broadway and West End favourite. And we’re clicking our heels together three times in the hope that Ms Grande makes a surprise appearance with Mika in Brighton. 5. ‘Lonely Alcoholic’ This soulful, moving number is more smoky cabaret bar than festival mainstage – but still, this is Mika’s best track to have a sway and a sing to while resting between upbeat bangers.

  15. PRESS RTL Today Luxenberg https://today.rtl.lu/culture/music/a/2181658.html Mika dazzles Rockhal Dancing, singing and jumping for joy Last night, the Rockhal was alive as Mika brought music, art and shiny lights to Luxembourg. As a fan since 2007 from back when I was a music-obsessed teenager and heard Grace Kelly for the first time, I still listen to Mika whenever I need a poppy pick-me-up. Nothing will clear up the gray skies of Luxembourg faster than the high-pitched vocals of Mika. So while my journalistic credibility may be somewhat skewed, Mika’s concert at Rockhal was a show to be remembered. I was shocked to see Rockhal completely packed as soon as the doors opened at 19:00. The crowd was composed of people young and old - even leaning a little more towards the older end. I couldn’t help but wonder why. Was it Mika’s star-lit past as a judge on France’s The Voice or Italy’s X Factor? Who knows. But no matter the age, the concert-goers were decked out in their most colorful and shiny garb to come watch the LGBTQ icon. The show opened with SYREETA. This DJ played some groovy beats under a (potentially seizure-inducing) light show. While initially she managed to get the crowd moving, the movement decreased to some casual head bobs as the crowd anxiously anticipated the main event. Between shows while the crew set up for Mika, the crowd was left staring at the colorful backdrop of a person with a wide open mouth. Was Mika going to come out from the mouth? Or perhaps from one of the eyes? In an unexpected move, ethereal music played as light shone through the eyes of the backdrop, curtains opening up to reveal a cage containing the most glorious firebird we’ve ever seen - MIKA. While listening through his sixth album that inspired this tour, Que ta tête fleurisse toujours, it was clear to me that the song Bougez was made to open concerts. Admittedly, I didn’t particularly like the song. That was until Mika spread open his wings dancing in front of a backdrop of lightning. Turns out, I love the song. And it was the perfect way to launch the audience into the high energy of the whole concert. But seriously. At 40 years old, Mika was running and leaping across the stage throughout the entire show. At 30 years old, I barely survived the excitement coursing through my body during the show… it’s really making me take a hard look at my workout regimen, but that’s a different story. The digital backgrounds demonstrated an array of bright captivating animations - sometimes depicting a collage-like mixture of retro imagery with space and other times graphic, cartoony patterns. No matter the background, it was paired with expertly-placed lighting to pull in the audience (making me grateful at Rockhal’s ability to equip whatever illustrious set design comes their way). During Underwater the audience was taken deep into the sea, and during Big Girls (You Are Beautiful), Queen Big (who reminded us she is not to be confused with Queen Bee) spoke to us directly while transporting the audience to the Butterfly Lounge. It was during Big Girls (You Are Beautiful) that Mika surprised us all by jumping into the crowd and dancing directly with his fans. Did he walk right next to me? He did. Did I freak out? Yes. Luckily for all of us, only the people next to me at the concert have access to the sounds that came out of my mouth as my star-stunned brain shut down in the presence of one of my favorite musicians. The only thing more dazzling than the backdrops were Mika’s outfits (which were clearly paired thoughtfully with each of the backgrounds). Let’s not forget, he pulled off a red suit with gigantic WINGS at the beginning of the show. Although Mika wore a line-up of radiant suits that could make RuPaul jealous, my favorite outfit was a silver reflective sparkling suit with a matching shirt and tie that turned him into a human disco ball. Mika clearly showed off his skills in changing in and out of outfits quickly, but he also demonstrated he can change in and out of languages just as fast. He switched from English to Italian and even a second of Polish, but ultimately he concentrated on French. And how I wish my B1 skills were good enough to understand the nuances of the French language, so I might have been able to comprehend all of the charismatic anecdotes Mika shared with the crowd. But here are some of the bits I did get… As he played one of the oldies, Billy Brown, he shared how he wrote that song and performed it for his family as a way of coming out as a gay man. As a shy and timid person growing up, the piano brought him happiness by letting him express anything he couldn’t figure out how to say out loud. During Elle Me Dit, he also painted a picture many people can relate to, shopping in the grocery store, placing the right balance of junk food and vegetables into your cart, sometimes you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and realise how serious you look - and how serious life can be. So what’s the answer? DANCE. Of course dancing in this situation metaphorically representing making the most of life and choosing joy. The show ended, but luckily we didn’t have to wait too long for the encore. Mika again astonished his fans by descending from the heavens (otherwise known as the ceiling of Rockhal) standing on top of a “Club Apocalypso” lit-up sign. The crowd sang out his latest hit, C'est la Vie. Ending the show with the curtain closing, only to have Mika and his crew come back out for one last bow. This act felt like there was an understanding that this concert was more than just music, but a theatrical performance from a true entertainer. Was the show extra? Absolutely. Was it incredible? Yes. Here’s to dancing through the seriousness of life and to concerts in Luxembourg that help us do just that. KACHINGA!

Google translator We saw Mika in concert at the Accor Arena in Paris: our opinion! A child of the 80s and former collector of 2-track CDs, he developed a passion for music very early on, particularly English pop and French song, of which he became an expert. Last night, Mika stormed the stage of the Accor Arena in Paris as part of his "Apocalypse Calypso Tour". Between yesterday's hits and today's pop songs, the singer was overflowing with energy and mischief, offering a colorful and feel good show. We were there, we’ll tell you! Last night, Mika returned to the Accor Arena in Paris, four years after his last concert in this ideal arena for grandiose shows. That's good ! As part of his "Apocalypse Tour", to present live the songs from his latest album in French "Que la tête fleurisse aussi", the singer put his bags in a packed room, ready to explode the colors and good vibes, as usual. It's just after 8:30 p.m. when the lights go out, disturbing music resonates and two creepy eyes pierce the pit thanks to two projectors. The enormous curtain opens and a luminous cage then sits in the middle of the stage. In a red suit, with wings on his back, Mika blurs the lines between angel and demon before making the crowd jump with his song "Bougez", inaudible on record but designed to open a show with fervor, it must be admitted! A devastating second part With his legendary enthusiasm, Mika gives himself without counting as he releases himself under the lightning and his four musicians set the rhythm with chords that could not be more electric! With this rather crazy introduction, the show promises to be mind-blowing. But the tension drops with "Apocalypse Calypso", "Talk About You" or "Sweetie banana", not really injected with the same energy. However, in front of his 16,000 spectators, including “the enfants terribles of the pit”, the mischievous artist has fun, dances like crazy, ignoring judgment, even suggests that we sing with our butts, and proves in passing that his reputation as a showman is not a legend. “Outside, it's a ####ing Monday” chants Mika, inviting everyone to let go and forget everything while two fans dressed as giant bananas stand out in the stands. Fortunately, after a "Yo Yo" which suddenly plunges Bercy into the middle of a rave party on acid, the concert takes on another dimension when "Underwater" brings everyone together, the touching "Jane Birkin" resonates, and especially "Relax (Take It Easy)", a timeless hit which gives a real impetus to a second part that is much more devastating. In a stunning new sequined costume, Mika stirs up Monday night fever by jumping into the air during each “Relax”, while the colors of the rainbow merge with statues on the giant screens. The crowd obviously takes up the cult chorus so that the party never stops. It's not "She tells me" that will relieve the pressure since the dandy in sweat brings a handful of fans on stage (including two dressed as bananas!) to dance with him for a deliciously crazy moment. They all begin to carry the artist - hilariously - by the arms and legs, to make him whirl around. The sequence with the enormous "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)" - where Mika takes an impressive crowd bath in the pit and chants "Bercy you are beautiful" - "Grace Kelly", then "C'est la vie ", which sees the singer landing from the ceiling on a sublime light platform "Club Apocalypso" and jets of sparks, or the furious "Love Today", begins a most explosive end to the show. After a solemn "Happy Ending", Mika returns with a somewhat wise "Any Other World", before leaving us with "We are Golden", the last burst of brilliance from a free and fanciful artist in an excess of confetti, pyrotechnic effects and love. Teeming with ideas, which sometimes have difficulty channeling themselves, like a setlist that goes a little in all directions, the concert offered last night by Mika at the Accor Arena nevertheless remains a masterclass of freedom and positive waves. In addition, the bond he created with the audience is undeniable, giving rise to superb moments such as when he brings fans on stage in complete relaxation or when he discovers, touched, the rainbow which sweeps Bercy thanks to colored stickers placed on the flashes of phones. In these difficult times, here is a supercharged show that does good!
