  1. Sadly I live with other people - at least, we inhabit the same house, but I study from home and Sar (my mother) and her husband both work full-time so I don't really see them. Still, it's been my ambition to move out since I was about ten so hopefully... soon. I just need money goddammit. And no I don't, I used to cook for myself all the time but now I'm lazy and I just go out every night to M&S and so forth... or, Subway, if I'm in a really glamorous mood. And... yeah... I like the 80s stuff... I probably was born 40 years ago and my birth certificate just neglected to mention that. I actually need to sleep, but my cat keeps jumping around everywhere and knocking things over. Maybe I should put her in a box.
  2. Ee, I don't like Twilight! Horrid, commercialised ****, dislike! I read the books ages ago and they're pretty good if a little pretentious... I couldn't finish the last one though because it was just so tedious, I mean once you know Bella's a vampire, that's it - game over. The film/hype Twilight - no. Robert Pattinson - no. Robert Pattinson's face - no. I do like Mika, I'm just not an obsessed fan! I love Happy Ending, Stuck in the Middle and Love Today, and I can probably tell you all the LiCM songs word for word because I have a photographic memory for things like that. I'm just playing down the Mika love. -.- I mean, I really like the guy, I just feel out of place on a fansite because I'm not majorly "into" him at this moment in time and most people here are, I guess that's what I'm getting at? Anyhow, I'm going to break my vampiric status and go to sleep in a minute - I'm pretty busy tomorrow. xx
  3. I'm not a fan as such but I like some of his music and I enjoy reading this forum. How is being a vampire treating you, Nati? I hate those guys from Twilight, they are so unreal. Let the Right One In > Twilight as vampire films go. I'm a pretty terrible vampire since I'm a vegetarian, but what the heck, if Edward Cullen can do it then so can I.
  4. Hey. I was told I should introduce myself after I started a thread about how terrible Patrick Wolf's new album is and tried to steal the limelight off other posters by starting a new thread. My name is Callie, I am sixteen, and I left school three years ago because I hated the ethos and the other kids and the other kids shared those sentiments about me. I now live as a hermit, I spend most of my time alone singing and attempting to write my literary masterpiece which will never happen. I can't sing by the way, although I hope to audition for X Factor next year. I work as a salesgirl for a local shop that has hardly any customers and the purpose of my employment is to make tea. I changed my name 5 years ago and I change my hair colour every few months; currently I have purple hair. I wear false eyelashes every day and I have several facial piercings. I like to dress extra flamboyantly. I have been a vegetarian all my life and I am attracted to men, women and cats. I used to be a hardcore fan of Mika up until about a year ago, but I think his new album is terrible. I love Patrick Wolf and I think his new album is also terrible. I like a lot of other musicians including Sinead O'Connor, David Bowie, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, Pink, Elton John, ABBA, Madonna, Gloria Estefan, Phil Collins, Roxette, Village People, to summarise I have naff taste in music. I also idolise Andrew Lloyd Webber. I love the X Factor because it is the climax of my social life that doesn't exist, I also like Big Brother and any other reality TV, seeing as it's my only insight. I like any films about vampires because I aspire to be one. I like wolves, and the colour purple. I also like being flippant. xx
  5. I was looking for some opinions on Patrick Wolf new-ish album, The Bachelor, in comparison to his earlier works? Personally, I can't take to it. I just find some of the lyric-ism pretty standoffish if that makes any sense, and I don't like all the high-profile collaborations... I think it takes away a lot of his essence, and makes him seem more like a celebrity than a self-sufficient artist. I heard an interview with him in which he claimed it was a "more mature sound" or something to that effect, yet I actually find this a little deluded because despite the fact he is older, Lycanthropy possessed an incredibly mature voice considering his age at the time, and heartfelt lyrics - in comparison The Bachelor seems quite emotionally detached, and the way he rants on about homophobes is almost childish, as if he is becoming a parody of himself. I do adore Patrick and I so want to like it but listening to "Battle" made me think of some crazy hybrid between Bruno and Daffyd from Little Britain, it just seems so try-hard. Vulture and Who Will? are very S&M based, and it seems so clichéd, the fact that a gay/bisexual man is writhing around in leather - surely, if he wants people to take him seriously regardless of his sexuality, he shouldn't exploit it like this? It just plays up to people's stereotypes, in my opinion. I also think his voice loses a lot of beauty in this album. It had a magical, pure quality in songs like Bluebells, but in The Bachelor it seems almost swamped by electronic devices, which seems like such a loss. When the story came out about Patrick disliking Mika, I could see his perspective: Mika is extremely successful on only his first album, and although Patrick is the same age and has been playing the game for years he couldn't even envisage Mika's level of commercial success. Patrick's music is so artsy and alternative, while Mika strives to achieve this image in between various celebrity parties… so yes, I can understand Patrick's angst. And now it just seems that Patrick is almost embracing the traits he critisised in Mika, which is of course inevitable, but still saddens me. I just wanted to get that out... feel free to strangle me if you disagree.
