Apparently he has a new keyboarder... does anyone know who that is?

And what did he say about screens during Big Girl? Apparently he was talking about video screens on stage, did he plan to have them like at Coachella and it didn't work, or was it on purpose that he didn't have them (and then why did he talk about it)?

Thanks everyone for the videos and reports!  Oh wow @NancylovesM, you were really lucky about the signed vinyl! :lustslow: love your avatar btw!

Can’t help with the keyboard player, was too far…

about the screens, he sais once that they were not working and later that he disn’t want them so it’s still unclear… nonethless, personally, I didn’t miss them, it made an arena show more intimate :)

Mika is at the Star Academy final today. No idea what role he will have, did anyone see anything about that? Whether he'll perform, or coach, or anything else?

The only thing I saw in one of the daily show is that he will sing during one of the coaches (Gregory Charles) number

Oh whoah! Was he only allowed to see his family between recordings through videochat? That must’ve been hard, especially with a newborn! But very rewarding that it all paid off by winning this edition!

Last week, his wife and mom came at the academy for a visit, but from what I understand, that was the only exception

The black and white photos after all the colours on stage, it's that contrast he always likes.

He looks good, but very serious, and in a way I'm bothered by not being able to see his face / eyes in the shirtless photo. It feels like, I don't know, a body without a soul? Of course I know it's him and that he has a soul, and a very beautiful one. But, not sure, maybe it's also this combination with the other photo where he looks so serious, otherwise I'd think he's just fooling around, with putting the shirt on his head. :teehee: Anyway, although he looks attractive as always, if he shows just his body without his face in a photo, something is missing for me.

So, did he say anything in yesterday's show about what he'll do now / where he'll go next? I was wondering whether maybe he'll spend a while in Miami and get the Covid vaccine there... I read that in the US they're pretty fast meanwhile with the vaccinations, 4 millions per day! And he also has a studio there.... :das: :biggrin2: Tho of course I'd also love it if he returned to our timezone and got to spend some time with Andy and the girls. :wub2: Anyway, I hope he'll let us know.

No he didn’t say anything :(

I missed the beginning of the interview, because my VPN wasn't working properly. What I got was that he told the story of the abusive teacher and how he got expelled from school, he said that was one of the happiest days of his life. And the rest of the story that we all know, going to the park, getting singing lessons, singing in opera, then he sang a bit of the Orbit chewing gum ad and told the story of him calling British Airways and hearing his own voice in the waiting loop. Then they talked for a moment about where he would be now without that abusive teacher, maybe in an office - but he doesn't want to give her credits for anything. (very understandable!)

The last question was about the lockdown in Greece last year, and Mika said something like him and Andy only get along because they see each other so rarely. :teehee: I didn't fully get what he said, but he quickly added that they sorted it and it's ok now, when he saw the host's reaction. :teehee:

He also talked a bit about the Versailles show and his mom.

The beginning was about Star Académie, how everyone loved his number and why he chose to do it... which lead to him expressing his love of Quebec and why (first arena show he ever did was at Bell Center in 2008 and his OSM shows)

about Andy, he said that the first ten days i. athens were horrible, because it was the longest time in a while they were together alone and I guess it took some times for everyone to adjust to it... but that a lot of people were in the same situation back then 😉

... but still Mika's song would fit better :shun:

Debate is over: it’s Bowie 😉he almost has a fit when no one knew the song at all 😂

The whole concept is about freedom!

    they will also sing:

    Born this way from Gaga

    Heroes from Bowie

à cause des garçons de Yelle

    Djadja from Ana Nakamura

small town boy from Bronski Beat

can’t help falling in love from Elvis

it’s fascinating all he got to see all of the students for who they really are...

    gonna be another great moment!

About 2 years ago I recorded this song as a cover (I think I posted it on this Forum).

And I remember when I read the lyrics for the first time from the beginning to the end.

I was soooo disappointed. It begins like a "church" song and then they "pass to act"

I wonder how it's possible that in some song competitions there are children singing it!!!!!!!!!!

Do their parents understand the meaning????

For me it's the same with "Ice Cream". Hearing children singing "I want your ice cream I want it melting on my tongue" makes me feel a little uncomfortable :glasses3:

I had the same feeling a few years ago when 5/6 y.o. kids when doing a skating choregraphy to Lollipop 😂 I was: did anyone know what this song is all about? 🤔

I agree, you saw a clear improvement over the course of those two hours. Sometimes I think it’s a handicap to not know French in the Mika fandom 😅, but watching the workshop he did and only being able to listen and “feel” the conversation and emotion improving with the contestants was extremely powerful to witness. So I have good hopes for Sunday ☺️

Have you seen what he did when he was at Star Académie in 2012? that was already pretty spectacular! It rained in the studio (was there, got drenched 😂

I didn't follow the Star Academy, so I only saw Mika's lesson, but tbh I didn't think he was too strict or anything. I don't know how much time the talents had to rehearse the songs before the lesson with him, but it drove me crazy how some of them didn't get the lyrics or the melody or the timing right, even after the 5th attempt. I can't sing as well as them, but I probably wouldn't have stayed as calm as Mika did, hearing what they did to his songs. :teehee: Anyway they all improved within these 2 hours. Maybe Mika's announcement about not being nice and that he doesn't like tears put too much pressure on them and that's why some of them messed up?

Well I suppose if you don't know him, you might feel a bit intimidated by his presence, his talent and his beauty. So if I was in their place, having to sing his songs in front of him, I might have felt terrified as well. But that's not his fault.

From what I hear in the video where Greg talked about the rehearsals, I get that the schedule changed and they have close to no time to rehearse/get familiar with the songs before practicing with Mika.

on the other hand, that’s part of the show, and that’s also part of life: things don’t always go as planned but you have to learn to go with it.

IMO some contestants had it a bit too easy since the beginning and I was glad they got a reality check in this practice. 😇

Greg asked them to give an honest response about how they feel about the lesson with Mika and if they find his way of being meticulous fair or not. Some of them said that they are OK with it and that they understood what he is coming from and will have to work hard and Rosalie said that she was "tortured" (I guess that is the word she used.)

I might be just over-interpreting, you know when it comes to Mika it's not always easy to take remarks because we know he puts his heart into his work

She didn’t say she was tortured, she said she was terrified... which, knowing Mika a bit, can be totally justified (although I find she was one who sang best in the lesson)

I just see this only conversation as a way to make them aware that not all artists work the same and don’t communicate the same way.

Greg also said that Mika is a rare type, one that can see all aspects of what he wants to do from the get go.

They don’t really show it in the broadcast, but Mika and Greg have a lot in common. He talked in a different interview how he grew up with a mother who was never totally satisfied with his performances and pushed him always to do better.

I probably won't be able to watch it before tonight, but the bits I saw on Twitter are just awesome! :swoon:

The "don't let me down" part of Stay High. :tears: :wub2: :swoon:

And the acoustic version of Relax :tears: :huglove:

It's an interesting setlist. In one of those interviews he said he asked the contestants to think about which songs represent them, and I wonder if these are his choice for that question? Did he say anything about it?

    He didn’t

That was something... gonna be an awesome show on Sunday. And what a privilege to watch him work (and sing) for 2 hours... I think the contestants realized they will have to work hard

at the end, one of the guys says: on va se faire driver which could translate to: he will leave us no room/make us work hard 😂

Yes, I had the same thought when I read Anna's translation. Maybe it wasn't that bad, and/or it was wise of him not to tell us right away, when I look at all the comments about it on Twitter. :teehee: It's a bit of a difference reading the translation, compared to the first info I saw this morning, that he fell into the lake. 😅

Anyway from what he says, he's not exactly happy in this quarantine. But well, he could've just stayed in contact with us if he felt lonely.

I still don't get the vitamins part in that context. "I am ready" - for leaving the quarantine? For working with the talents? Or does it mean "I'm done with it", meaning that he has enough now and wants to leave? In any case I can't make sense of the vitamins.

But someone should've told him that snow reflects the UV radiation, so you get sunburnt more easily. Star Academy should really take better care of Mika! :sneaky2:

he meant that he enjoyed the beautiful weather we had (and still have) this weekend, he must have basted in the sun. We refer to it as taking our vitamins 😉and now he’s ready to get some work done with the talents...

it’s a shame he and Pepe Munoz couldn’t be on the show together, they would have done great work! (Don’t know if it’s covid restriction, budget restriction or time restriction)

can’t wait to see what he has in mind for the show!

I think it's a house, not a hotel - but I don't think every part of Canadian forest is dangerous, with bears and animals like that. I suppose he's still rather close to civilization, and the dangerous animals would be mostly in the areas where there aren't any big cities.

In any case I'm sure he isn't in danger of being attacked by a bear. If there are any in that area, the house will be well protected.

He’s more in danger of having a face to face with a skunk rather than fight a bear with his bear hands...

although it looks like he’s in the middle of a forest, but I think the house is not THAT far from civilisation!

So... if he can write a song within 15 minutes, how about an album within 2 weeks? :das: :naughty:

Well, joke aside, it looks like a really lovely place, and I love seeing him so happy. :wub2:  It's good to see that he enjoys his time there, when he said "it might be quarantine, but...", I thought he'd say "it feels like a holiday". :teehee:

Today was a really sunny/beautiful day with +10 degrees! I love that he strategically placed his camera not to show the 1.5 meter snow bank behind him 😂
