I'm so much more relaxed when talking with him these days than I used to be at the first meeting, I certainly don't miss that feeling of being too nervous to say anything that makes sense. :naughty: But well, my feelings when meeting him also changed over time. From being too nervous to say much over talking too much rubbish, over having the feeling not to have anything relevant to say to him anymore, up to now, when it almost feels like we're friends. I guess that's because a) I'm not nervous anymore when talking to him and b) because he's so open and honest now, he talks about personal things, about how he feels about certain things - he never did that before. But that's a very recent change, so maybe when you meet him the next time it'll be different for you as well. ;)

Maybe MIKA reads the MFC, and noticed your frustration, and sadness,  because he didn't stop with fans after the gigs anymore - there seems to have been a change lately :blush-anim-cl:

And now you can probably also tell your little son that MIKA IS your friend...:wub2:

Hi there, here is what my husband recorded on the first gig in Utrecht, when Mika spoke to my daughter and dedicated the song Paloma to her.

This's really great :blush-anim-cl: I'm so happy for your beautiful daughter - what a bonus and treasure to get during this concert!!  I suppose  the song Paloma will always mean something very special to her...:wub2:

@Statue_of_Liberty's video of the talk about writing OOL: :wub2: :rasta: :naughty: :wub2:

I always find it funny when he says "Nick Littlemore from Empire of the Sun", just because he has said it so often - but from now on, I'll find it even funnier. :lmao:

    Edit: Talk for Relax:

Thank you sooo much,  Statue of Liberty, and Mellody,  for taping and sharing such special moments from the gigs, where MIKA is very personal and direct in what he tells! :wub2:

I've always thought that OOL is about Andy - "thanks God that you found me" :wub2:  I think that everybody being present at these intimate gigs in Utrecht are more than lucky - must be very special :blush-anim-cl:  So just enjoy the last one tonight,  and thanks in advance for everything you share with us at home...

This photo symbolizes a little bit all the concerts. Mika reaches out his hand to invite us to share an hour and a half with him.......thumb.PNG.db4c5ae7eaa1fe7001b7ae3f28adedd0.PNG

:blush-anim-cl: I like the way you present this pic.  And yes - a complete audience seem to "eat from his hand" - with good appetite - where ever he goes :thumb_yello: As far as I can understand, from what's presented here on the MFC, it's not about a tiny love at all - rather a huge love, I would say.  I hope MIKA really understands how much people love him - and what he has to share :wub2: :wub2:

    Killed by a caramel :lmfao:

In fact, throwing sweets on stage can be quite dangerous.  I was present at the Norwegian Wood gig in June 2004, when David Bowie was hit in his eye, by a lollipop thrown at him.  It was really scary to see the stick hanging out of Davids eye! :emot-sad: Thanks God it was removed, and it all went much better than it looked. After a lot of furious curshing, David continued with his concert for two more hours :fisch:  But this MIKA caramel story is just funny... :blush-anim-cl:

If we can travel around Europe it's not so bad. But there are fans which cannot afford a trip. I contacted Mika's manager for Europe. He promised to get some information about a promotion in Poland but the chance is very little I think.

Exactly.  But there might also be other problems than just the costs of travelling.  At least I have no chance to "travel around Europe" - for several reasons :emot-sad:  But I'd love so much to see ONE show of this Relevation Tour, before it ends  I haven't forgotten the fab. show he gave at London Palladium in June 2016 :fisch:  I therefore hope,  and pray,  that there will be a new opportunity to see MIKA live, in his hometown, during this year...:wub2:

Yes, indeed! :thumb_yello: I'm really happy for all his Canadian fans! Lucky people, having him back so quickly!! :blush-anim-cl: If only MIKA could include at least  one of the Scandinavian countries - and Poland as well !!:crossed:  But I'm afraid it won't happen :dunno: If we're lucky -  UK, and London,  get a new date.  I do hope so...

My thoughts about this are also quite complicated. On the one hand, I don't think Mika owes us anything (well, except for the concert that we paid for -- and he definitely delivers that!), and I wouldn't say that meeting fans after gigs is a part of his job. It's a nice bonus, but not something that should be expected of him, especially after putting so much of his energy in performing on stage. On the other hand, I can definitely understand that fans are disappointed because he so rarely does M&Gs these days, especially those who were used to him doing them regularly in the past. I have only been following him since 2014, so I wasn't around in the "good old days" (and he didn't do that many M&Gs during the Heaven tour either). I'm sure having something and then having it taken away is more disappointing than never having experienced it in the first place. Also, I was lucky enough to be in Barcelona and experience the one really great M&G he has done so far during this tour, so I definitely can't complain.

As for the reasons for the change, obviously we can't really know for sure, as he's the only person who could answer the question. My guess is that in the past he felt like he did "owe" his fans something more than just the concert (and I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way: being famous was still sort of new for him and he was in awe that so many people loved him and were willing to follow him, so he wanted to get to know them and do something for them in return). But as he got older, he gradually realized that he actually isn't obligated to make everyone happy, especially if he's feeling tired or just not in the mood to talk to crowds of people. Perhaps his mother's illness has also made him reconsider his priorities and influenced his behaviour a little? This is all just speculation, of course.

Anyway, like I said, I can definitely see the issue from both sides. I've decided to lower my expectations when I go to gigs and just look forward to a great show. If anything happens after it, it's a wonderful and unexpected bonus, and if it doesn't, I already had a great time anyway. :mf_rosetinted:

I totally agree - very well spoken/written! :thumb_yello: You're such a wise lady Andrea! I wish you, and everybody else on the MFC,  a very happy, healthy, joyful og super new year!!   Hope to see you all at a new MIKA gig during 2020...:fisch::mf_lustslow:

Finally also me have a CD!!! :cheer:

YES - finally me too got my two CD's this week!! :clap:About 3 weeks ago, I sent a mail and asked when they would be sent. I got a very quick answer - with "thank you for your patience" and the CD's were on their way to me the same week!  After listening to all the tracks carefully, while reading the lyrics enclosed the inlay, I can honestly say that I smile - and I mean it!! 😍 After the wonderful NPIH alb. I didn't know what to expect next time from MIKA - but I'm not disappointed!! :thumb_yello: Imo this's a great alb. full of good songs.  There's a couple of tracks that won't be worn out in my CD player, but all in all I LOVE this alb. In a way it's quite diff. from his other albums, but still it's very  recognizable MIKA - mostly because of his voice of course :fisch:

My fav. songs so far are Tomorrow, Platform Ballerinas, Paloma and I went to hell last night.  The first two because they're so joyful and funny - the two others because they're so beautiful,  with a strong and meaningful lyric.  Also Tiny Love Reprise will be a classic,  I think.  Several of the others are pure quality,  and will grow on me - after more listening :mf_lustslow:

THANK YOU - Michael Holbrook, you're still the one & only - the very best! :fangurl:I do hope I can see the fab. show of The Revelation Tour, next year. A new London gig would be great!! :blush-anim-cl:

Thank you dear:hug: From all the new stuff,  which has been posted here,  since MIKA started touring again, it looks like he has never been better on stage than he's now!  So much energy, so much passion - and such a wonderful contact with his audience and fans!!    I think even Mick Jagger ought to be envious about it all :naughty: Thanks a million to all of you for sharing so much wonderful, new MIKA stuff!! :woot_jump: I really LOVE it all.  And MIKAs outfit - omg - it reminds me so much of the -70ies - the best pop period ever! :fisch:

SO - good luck with the upcoming concerts,  to all  of you, lucky fans - being able to travel and experience it live!  ENJOY !!   :yay:

Apologies for the late report! Lots of travel (and a work day) between Mika night and now. But it was another wonderful night with Mika in Los Angeles.

Let's go through it! Venue was incredible: my friend compared it to Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona, which doesn't miss the mark too much! It's got intricate moulding on every surface, and the ceilings in the music hall are vaulted. Over-the-top in a very "Mika" way.

Indy and I snuck to the front row for Kiesza (since it was a seated gig, there were some empty seats up front). This was her best night yet! She was very comfortable on stage, and seemed thrilled to have familiar faces up front. We knew all the words to her songs by now.

At a seated show, the stage is much lower since they expect the audience to be seated. We all were seated for Kiesza's acoustic set. I don't know why we were so worried that everyone would be sitting for Mika … because after the band came on, then Mika skipped out onto stage, everyone leapt to their feet immediately. Of course!

Ice Cream sounded great, but during Dear Jealousy was when I noticed the cold. Mika's nose was a bit stuffed up, and you could hear it when he sang or said "m" or "n." Poor Mika!

In Relax, some fans from the rows further back rushed up to be close to the stage. This was a bit annoying, especially for folks up front whose view was blocked -- but I think Mika got a kick out of the visceral reaction that some fans had to the songs.

During Big Girl, he put on his jacket again (some songs deserve jackets!). He gave an intro about how we're all going to a place…a place that is now closed … but if we all close our eyes, we'll be transported there. And then he ran right off the stage and skipped into the audience! Big Girl is such a party and everyone was dancing. At one point, Mika climbed up on the seats right in front of us, and put his hand on the man in the row ahead to balance as he sang! I didn't get any photos of this but it was a magical moment. He was RIGHT THERE!

Lollipop was a total treat. He gave the same monologue about how his mom should have warned him about the BOY next door. The two men in the row in front of us turned to each other and high fived!!  Another "pro" of the seated show--it's a lot easier to experience what other fans are feeling, especially those at their first show! Mika's openness is clearly resonating with his audience, and I'm glad he feels comfortable to share that with us.

Highlight of the show was hands down acapella Happy Ending. We couldn't believe that he sang with no mic, in this huge theatre, with a cold-- and sounded amazing. Unlike SF no one was screaming; the hall was completely quiet. This moment is what everyone was talking about when I was standing in the lobby after the show. He must know how impressive his voice is, and how much of a gift it is to hear it unfiltered. It seemed like everyone who walked out of the show was gushing about this moment.

He did Blue, too. I think this was the first point in the night when he acknowledged the cold. He said something along the lines of "this song is very tricky to sing, doubly so when you are sick, so please go easy on me." And we did. Again, the theater was absolutely quiet. So quiet that Mika actually had to signal his pianist to turn the volume down. And his voice did crack a couple times. But wow, the best way to experience this song is sitting with thousands of others in rapt attention. It's just beautiful--and something I will miss most about this tour.

About halfway through the night his hair was crazy, all flat on the top and sticking out to the sides. When he came back for the encore he had combed it down. Beautiful!

Despite being sick, Mika never ran out of steam. At the very end of the night, when everyone was partying to "Stay High," I couldn't believe how powerful his voice still sounded! Still hitting all the high notes. So thankful.

As we walked out, I spotted Perez Hilton waiting for Mika after the show! They must have had a backstage meetup.

We milled about in the lobby for a while, then tracked everyone down at the back stage door, which was all the way through a parking lot and around the back of the venue. There weren't too many people waiting, maybe about 30-40. We did stand around and chat for a while (nice to have a chance to say goodbye to all the friends we've made on this tour!). A couple big trucks pulled up to load out the equipment. Then a staff member at the venue came outside and said "Mika's not going to come out! No way! Go home!" We all kind of laughed at this because we knew it wasn't true.

Then just like that, the big black SUV pulled up, and the manager popped out. He formed us into a straight line. And Mika appeared :) Indy and I had nothing for him to sign, and he seemed a little confused when we just thanked him over and over again. Very star-struck! I will kick myself about this until the next tour -- think of something more meaningful to say! -- and I know this because I had a dream about seeing Mika and being tongue-tied again last night! Haha! But I am glad we got to express how much we appreciated this whole tour and all the time he's spent with the fans along the way.

P.M.D. is real. We slept about three hours between the gig and our flights, and I have pretty much had Mika's music (new and old!) on loop since then. It's been such a long time, and these shows have felt like a way for me to reconnect with so much of this music that I'd lost track of in the intervening years. So many beautiful songs, and so many friends to discuss them with.

Thank you to everyone (merci beaucoup!) we met along the way. And to Mika most of all. Hope to see you all before too long!

Thanks a million to both you Kira and your sister Indy - for your detailed and wonderful reports, pics and vids from the MIKA gigs in NA!! :flowers2: I remember with pleasure,  when we had a little chat in Montreal.  You were by my side at row 5, at the first concert 10.2.15 - with tickets that you won! And Indy sat next to you.  I'll never forget her reaction when MIKA started to sing "Happy ending" :tears:   So happy for both of you - for these new changes with MIKA... :fisch:

  15. I think "Tiny love" is a very special, but abs. amazing, song! :thumb_yello: :fisch: And after reading the interview with MIKA, where he tells about his tour back to his roots in the US , I find the video like a summary of his family life, from old days and up to his own birth and life.  He wasn't proud of everything he found out,  he says.  I think  that's normal, when we go back and seek the history, for  generations 🧐 The video is full of symbols, and seems very intelligent made.  Like Anna, my first thought was about slavery, among other things.  It will be interesting to hear what MIKA will tell about it, himself.  But I do understand that he was very pleased and excited to share both this song and the video with the world   And I'll be very surprised if it doesn't get the recognition it really deserves...

Happy birthday MIKA - you're truly the best!!!:yay::flowers2::fangurl:
