  1. Hello Nikita, nice to have you. I'm fairly fresh on here myself so it's nice that more people are joining people on here are like a little village community it's super sweet! I'll be going to Montreal too (from Edmonton) hopefully I'll get a chance to meet you and many others on here Kat.
  2. I'm also all booked, I'm staying downtown one block from the venue. I was thinking of getting a fun t-shirt made up saying "Keeping you overrated." or maybe one of those "stay calm and Overrated" LOL, is that funny to anyone other than me? Is it too much? is it weird to do that? I've never made a special t-shirt for a concert before...not sure if it would be appropriate for this kind of venue either. He seems to have matured quite a bit from his earlier concerts. I've been enjoying watching some of the youtube stuff from his early years and he was quite an energetic singer but he's calmed lately...it looked like it anyhow. I noticed people made signs for shows but signs aren't great because they block the view for the poor people behind the one holding up a sign for their dear life. Has the fan club ever attended a gig all wearing the same thing? would he even care, is it worth it? It's rather silly isn't it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Kat.
  3. I adore the "Keep Me" version of Overrated and I will beg and plead right alongside you if there's someone out there with a gift for figuring out the chords just by ear. Pretty please! Kat.
  4. YAY! thanks Silver, that thread is chord city I'm not sure if some are meant for the guitar but I'll play around with them on the piano. It's just for my ears anyway so yay! no need to deafen the masses LOL Appreciate it. Kat.
  5. So I bought the Origin of Love piano book but it doesn't have chords! AAA!!! I'm annoyed I didn't look in the store, I can't sight read worth a lick so I was really hoping for some chords to work with...darn.
  6. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone in here knows if public lead sheets are available for purchase for Mika's music? I've just started up piano again after many years and I don't sight read well so I'm looking for lead sheets. Kat.
  7. I'll be there but I'd buy the DVD anyway. Are there actually any other Mika concert DVDs out there? Has he ever done one? Kat.
  8. Hi, just a silly newbie question: what does "Chin wagging" mean? There's a Forum by that name and I'm not sure what it stands for. Thanks, Kat.
  9. Oh this is perfect! Thank you for sharing it. I found my seats in this crowd lol exactly what I've been looking for but the plans online haven't been very clear so this video was really great. Kat.
  10. Yes, I think that's a fine idea. Can you add the "Keep Me" version of Overrated? I would love to hear that on an actual album.
  11. My apologies, I have a tendency to write too much, I just realized everyone else has just been writing little hello's so I'm sorry for the lengthy message. Kat.
  12. Hi there I'm Kat living in Alberta, Canada, I'm 38...aaaa! (moment please). I recently joined, still discovering Mika's sound and enjoying it. His music has reignited my interest in my sadly forsaken and forgotten old piano (I have a feeling the poor thing may be starting to forgive me for the years of neglect...but I'm not quite sure of that yet so I'll keep working on it). Anyhow, I've put my intro in the intro thread, and I've had the pleasure of chatting with some lovely Mika fans in the Montreal thread over the last couple of weeks . Yes, I've stuffed the feeling of financial comfort into a dark little crack in my floor and have sacrificed rent and food money for the next couple of months to buy a fancy-free trip to Montreal for a week in February 2015 to attend my first ever Mika show...shows lol...going to all 3. Might as well live it up eh? Lyrically, my favourite song thus far is Sympathy...but I've only found it on youtube...I don't know where to buy it...anyone know which album it's from? Melodically, I'm drawn to the feel-good Step with me song and the We are Young song from Kick-Ass. But my ultimate favourite song is By the Time, it's a double whammy, I adore the descriptive and clever lyrics and the melody just settles me down every time. I don't know much about the man, MIKA, but his artistry has re-awakened this aging spirit and I'm so thankful for that. I hope to get to know more people on here and meet a bunch of the long-time and short time fans from here in Montreal. And if anyone wants to go for a coffee or hot coco before the concerts I'd love that, otherwise I'll be left wondering the snowy, cold, streets of Montreal all by my lonesome while there lol ok no pressure just really looking forward to February. Kat.
  13. Hi there, I'm pretty recent to the Mika music scene. I'm in western Canada so he's not really well known here. Took me a while to figure out who this fab music was coming out of lol. I'm entranced by his vocals and now that I know who he is I've been finding out more via youtube. I watched an old interview with him from a few years back and he referenced a secret society that had contests and competitions. I thought that was really cool of an artist to do that, kind of entice active fan participation. Anyhow, I'm curious if this is still an active collective of people anywhere online or if it just went by the way-side? The text below mentions some legal issues so just wondering if anyone knows if this has continued on or not. Many thanks, Kat.
  14. Hi, Thank you for the info on what this Mika concert might be/feel like. I wasn't really sure what kind of audience he attracts. The youtube stuff shows only typical concert venues so again I wasn't sure. Good to know I'll be on the first balcony for the first 2 nights and then in the 5th row for the 12th so I'll be well away from the "grabbers" lol. As long as I can actually hear the music and him singing I'll be happy and the trip will be worth it. As he and his music gets older and more mature I'm hoping the crowds grow and mature with him...so to speak . Whatever happens I know it's going to be special and wonderful! I'm so looking forward to it. Thanks all.
  15. Since many of you have been to Mika's concerts in the past I was just curious if this Montreal gig will be his first one with a Symphony Orchestra? Will this be just like any other concert with screaming fans and such or do you guys/gals think it'll be more of a prim & proper affair? Will photography be allowed? Will we be sitting or standing throughout most of the concert? How long are Mika's typical concerts? I suppose we won't know some of this for sure till we're there, I was just wondering what people have experienced during his past concerts. Thank you all. Kat.

  17. Hi Alie, Thank you for making this list, I was wondering if you could add me to it, I think I sent you my seat numbers a couple weeks ago but if you don't have them let me know and I'll resend. I'll print this list off and have it with me for the concerts because I'm really looking forward to meeting you all. Kat.
  18. Hello PaolaC, that's wonderful, THANK YOU! I've emailed you.
  19. Hi all, first off I have to say thank you to a wonderful lady, Renate, who has offered to sell her spare ticket to me but it's in the first balcony and I will happily buy it if that's all that's left. However, as I'll be sitting in the first balcony the first two nights in Montreal, I was really hoping that there might be a ticket up for grabs in one of the first rows on the floor. This will be my first ever Mika concert and it would be lovely to sit right up front. If anyone has a spare ticket on the floor, maybe in the middle, maybe in the first few rows, maybe in the front row, maybe right on stage LOL, and you're willing to sell for the same price as you bought it for then I'll buy that Thank you in advance.
  20. My seats are: Feb. 10 - Loge 102; A 101 Feb. 11 - Loge 102; A 105 Feb. 12 - best seats in the house??? LOL no clue yet, just hoping to even get a seat.
  21. Hi, I'm new but I'd love to meet up with you all, I'll be sitting in the first balcony above the stage on the Right hand side for the 10th & 11th...I bought my tickets before I knew this club existed...darn. But I don't have a ticket for the 12th yet as they were all sold out. I've received an offer from one member to sell me a ticket for the 12th so I'll probably go with that unless I can find one on the floor. Oh how I'd love to be on the floor at the front, that would be soooo cool. I'll be happy where ever I sit though, just listening to him live for the first time will be really nice...I hope. I wonder if his voice sounds the same live as it does on the CDs...some artists sound different. Kat.
  22. Thank you all for a very warm welcome! I've looked at some youtube videos of Mika's music and wow there's enough material online to keep a person entertained for a long time. There are a great many songs that I have never heard before so the last couple of weeks have been a real treat for me discovering all kinds of new sounds from him. Anyhow, it'll be really nice to meet many of you in Montreal, and again thank you for the welcome. All the best, Kat.
  23. Hi there, Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, I'm Kat from Alberta, Canada. I'm pretty new to Mika's music, he's not really well known here...actually most places I went to for his CD had never heard of him, but I'm glad I've been introduced to this very unique artist's music. So here's my story: A few months back I was window shopping at a local mall and overheard "Rain" from one of the stores. The sound was strange enough to intrigue me and I ended up just standing there in the middle of the walk way listening to the whole track. When it was over I wanted more. I went inside and asked what they were listening to but they didn't know they just said it was a music mix from their store chain headquarters. I had the Rain part stuck in my head so I drove over to the nearest HMV, went to the till and said to the guy "I've got this stuck in my head and I want to know who sings it" and I started singing the Rain part (it really just sounded like I was wailing), I kept at it for a bit too long I think as the poor guy was clearly uncomfortable and said he didn't know and couldn't help. I politely asked him to get someone who could help because if I didn't find out who this was then I'd be stuck with the Rain part in my head forever and eventually would go insane and my sanity rested in his hands. He rolled his eyes and went to get someone else. He found the manager who also listened to my repeated wailing aka 'singing' of the bits I remembered. He said it sounded familiar but he wasn't sure so he went looking around the store to see if anything popped, he came back with Imagine Dragons and One Republic both of which I knew so he tried again, and again, and again. I kept up with the wailing here and there to keep him motivated to continue the search. Eventually persistence paid off and he came back with MIKA. He turned it on for me and VOILA!!! I bought the only available CD, took it home, annoyed the heck out of my neighbours by listening to it non-stop for the next month. Since then I've raved about his music to friends and colleagues at work. Pretty soon after I got the first CD something about his sound made me look at my piano again...for the first time in a decade. I sat down at it, cleared off all the clutter and played a few notes...it felt rough and foreign, so I just sat there for a long time that day, and the next day, and the next. A week later I signed up for piano lessons again and I've been plucking away for a bit now. I'm not very good...nah, I'm terrible at it...but it doesn't feel foreign anymore, it feels softer to the touch and the ear somehow. I'm grateful. Yesterday I heard "Tah Dah" for the first time and it was intoxicating. His music utterly maddens my senses ARGH!!! Well that's it, that's how I ended up here and found myself spending rent and food money to book a flight and accommodations for the Montreal gig in February. This will truly be a once in a lifetime musical adventure for me and I'm so happy I did it. I can only imagine what his music will sound like live, I'm so curious. I hope to meet some of you Mika fans there too I do wish he'd come out to Alberta someday people just don't know him here well at all...such a shame. Anyhow, in other news we had our first snowfall yesterday YAY! I'm in my happy place when there's snow falling. I hope there's lots of snow in Montreal in February Thank you to whoever started this fan club and to all those who have continued to ensure it's survival long enough for me and others like me to discover Mika's music. Signing off, Kat.
  24. Hi I'm a new Mika fan. I'm in Western Canada and I hadn't heard of him before, such a unique artist. I've decided to fly to Montreal to listen to his music live but it's quite expensive so while there I'd love to go to all the shows. By the time I booked everything and managed finances I missed out on the Feb.12th concert. Does anyone here know if any new tickets will be released closer to the date? This will be a trip of lifetime for me so it would be really special to listen to him as much as can live while there. Any info would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you. Kat.
