Being at work and listening to this concert today, I feel so privileged that I had the chance to be there live.

Today marks two years since the first time I saw Mika live at a gig!

@Prisca I've never used it before and don't know why is it here but I found it fitting.

I know it's the anniversary of the explosion in Beirut today but I really needed to hear Mika's voice right now... I was so nervous and stressed out because in 24 hours I'm travelling for the first time since the pandemic started and of course I'm excited but at the same time, I felt overwhelmed because there are so many things you have to take care of nowadays. For a moment I lost the joy and felt horrible. Hearing Mika singing Heroes calmed me down and brought me to tears but in a good way. I feel so much better now, Mika's soft voice really is the best tranquilizer in the world.

I'm looking for an English native speaker who wouldn't mind to read the abstract of my diploma thesis (only about 170 words) and let me know if it's fine. Anybody here?
-
@silver Thank you so much, I sent you a pm...

I must confess I have a new favourite singer lately...
His name is Tico and he is a parrot. I love to watch him while writing my diploma thesis.

Recently I discovered this page thanks to my Spanish classes, it's called Lyrics Training and you can practice different languages by filling song lyrics while listening to the music video. I use it for Spanish but today I discovered there are also some songs by Mika... I guess it would be a good tool for him to revise his own lyrics before the next tour (without the audio of course).

@Starlight I hope later I'll be able to like it too, now I'm too tired... I'll finish the second one another time.

If you're looking for a show to brighten up your days and you do have Netflix, watch Julie and the Phantoms, believe me, you won't regret it! The series is a bit like a musical and it's so uplifting with a great story, lovely characters and catchy music. I finished it in two days, unfortunately it's quite short... Do you have any recommendations for other uplifting series/movies? I need more right now.
-
@Irem Aytepe Oh yeah, I've totally forgot about that one even though it has been on my list... Thank you!

Me after an one hour dance class before the pandemic:
Me after a 20 minute dance work out on Youtube now:
I hope I'll be fit again before there are any gigs... Unfortunately, it seems I have plenty of time.

@Starlight That's great! Is he just studying/working there for now or does he live there permanently? Do you visit him often (when it's possible, not now unfortunately )?

I miss the days when it was possible to decide at the last minute that you cross the borders of three countries to see your favourite musician live, when all you had to do was to buy a bus ticket, book a hotel room and enjoy the trip...

@teenagedreamer98 Me too, concerts and travels are the things that give me the most joy, that I always look forward to and that make me happy for many days... I know there are bigger problems, at least I can see the majority of my family because I live with them so I'm not alone but I really miss these things. I miss the excitement, the tiredness, the anticipation, the planning, all of it.

It took me a while but now I kind of appreciate Mika's decision to cancel his tour instead of just postponing it. Last year I bought a ticket for a concert that should have took place in March 2020. Today I've realized that the concert was postponed again from March 2021 to March 2022. It feels ridiculous and even though I understand the company, I would prefer a cancellation at this point.

Today I got the I Love Beirut T-shirt!
I've ordered small but it's the biggest small size I've ever seen...
But that's fine. Better than too small.
-
@giraffeandy good... I don't have mine, they don't want me to buy the t shirt.. but i watch the concert

SOS, please, are there any fans who ordered the I Love Beirut T-shirt from https://shop.virginemi.com/mika/?
I've paid for it on the 11. 9. I didn't receive it until now. Today the store charged me AGAIN. They charged the amount from my credit card today at night. I've already paid for the T-shirt and I didn't even get a shipping confirmation and now I have to pay once more? Does that happen to anybody else?

@silver I've checked my bank account again and it seems that they actually cancelled the payment from September and they charged it today. But I haven't noticed back then because in September, we were buying quite a lot of things... However, they could at least inform the customers that they will charge them later because I was sure I've already paid in September.
-
Well, at least they have not charged you twice. Quite a lot of companies take your payment details but only actually charge you when they despatch the goods. Maybe the September charge was their error and they refunded when they realised it. But I agree, they could have let you know what was happening.
-
@silver I've already ordered there once and back then I've paid immediately even though it still took a few days till the order has been dispatched... They probably realized they won't have the T-shirts in stock for a while so they decided to charge the money later but it would be nice to let me know because once I've got the payment confirmation and I've seen the amount on my bank account as blocked, I haven't checked afterwards if the payment was made for real. I know booking.com does that sometimes when they want to check if the client has enough money to pay the stay but I've never experienced that with a store.
