  1. “My head is blooming, but my hair doesn’t agree” ”Playing hide and seek, Mika-version.” ”I hope they hold up that camera on MY eye-level………ok never mind.”
  2. Aww thanks @mellodyfor your videos! I believe in the second last video, you can see the guy signaling to Mika that he can’t sign the people who were waiting behind the barrier (who didn’t have a ticket to go to the signing but were waiting with their CD there anyway). You can see Mika blatantly ignore him and sign anyway and the guy is like “oh well”
  3. If I’m not mistaking Bigflo is the one Mika uses as a buzzer ( @crazyaboutmika) and Oli the one next to him.
  4. Very possible, seems to feature similar orange chairs: If it’s true that they are there, they must be testing the light and sound for the new tour. Or it’s another private gig.
  5. This sounds perfectly normal to me (see, it’s all about perspective!), but I think you have found the right kind of people to share the nuttiness with
  6. Did you buy a ticket though? I’m sure you can hold onto it until then. In case you can’t go, you can probably sell it: there are always people looking for tickets a few days before the concert.
  7. The idea about this on itself is not quite unique, because we live in a society with a lot of diversity in every realm: the idea that despite our differences, we need to make it work, is a societal problem. The way to approach it is to start implementing it with children; because they are the future, they have the chance to make a difference within themselves and their surroundings. However, like Karin pointed out: public schools are overworked, underpaid and generally overwhelmed, that such a community spirit is simply not possible, as it requires a lot of energy, time and individual attention to children. For my own children, my husband and I have always searched for a community within the kindergarten and school, rather than a specific school. We are privileged to have found it (so far) for all three of them and we see what a difference it makes in their self confidence and general view of themselves. The thing is, when you are searching for something like this, you will automatically come across like minded people. Not all of them. But enough to form a community and tackle problems in a civil way, before it becomes too polarized - and yes, bullying in the end is a polarization of an imbalance within a community.
  8. Listening to the song and reading the lyrics again, I think you are right: “la solitude” wouldn’t have many friends in her phone. And she left without saying a word, as Mika tells the interviewer he doesn’t feel so lonely anymore. Thoughtful wording. It’s one of my favourite songs on the album, alongside Passager. Soft and delicate and well, a bit melancholic, too.
  9. That’s the thing though, if it’s consistent it’s not exceptional anymore, it’s normal. (Of course I agree with you, to consistently strive for excellence makes his work exceptional.) But also: everything is relative according to the chosen perspective
  10. Nothing is mediocre about what he does the problem is though, if you’re constantly exceptional, won’t that be the new normal (and therefore….. mediocre!?)
  11. Yes, that’s how I understood it. I think it’s similar as that I as a not-native-German-speaker use Genetiv a lot, but as you know it’s not used often in speaking at all and people German-speakers find it….endearing
  12. Soooo time for the crazy theories as to where he could be, now starting the 2024 edition! 1. He decided that he shall master the skill of tapping beer to perfection (the ratio foam:beer) and is in a random pub in the UK; 2. He is practicing his dancing skills within a confinement of 2.5 meters in a random circus tent in Europe; 3. He has decided to collect glamour and glitter, but since he is already glamorous he is searching for matching glitter in a random store on this world. I understand I have not narrowed it down at all. But that makes this thread so beautiful (and maybe also incredibly unspecific, but what are we supposed to do otherwise)
  13. There is something both very moving and chilling that he was able to metabolize his sister’s accident into something poetic. Much respect that he could turn it around like this, it takes a lot of courage and also time to reach such a point. So when is he the little devil, on stage or off stage? When I listen to the new album, I always smile widely when Bougez comes on, because to me that is 1000% Stage Mika and I can’t wait to see the new tour…. purely to see him perform this song! We got a sneak preview with that recorded concert. But I think that is merely a teaser of what is going to happen during the tour!
  14. I LOVE this, it sounds terrifying, but also really intimate and grandesque at the same time. To be focused only on him and the music: and I hope he will dare to open his eyes to see our reaction. Or maybe he will start in the dark? And once we start dancing there will be a bright spotlight on him and the audience will erupt even more? Oh boy, I can sense the thrill and anticipation… is it March already!?!?
  15. To be raised with such pressure and expectation, takes a strong person to make sense of it and give it a meaningful place in life. The lingering danger lies in that it‘s sometimes hard to be content with the ordinary if you can’t be or have the extraordinary. Which ultimately is an incredibly subjective scale. (Or maybe I’m just projecting…) Love the on point questions in this interview, especially this one: I think it’s the quintessence of the album and I am glad this interviewer recognized it and asked him this question.
  16. English translation: You told us recently that your return is a tribute to your mother Joannie, who died in 2021 of brain cancer... "It is a tribute to what she has transmitted to me for good and for worse. She trained me from a very young age. There was a lot of love, but also pressure and expectation. She always said that the enemy was mediocrity. It was hard to live with it all the time. In reality, she gave me a key to freedom. The title of the album is indeed based on a message she sent me that said: "I hope your head is still blooming. She wrote this while she was in a real state of suffering. She made a magnificent gesture." With this album that allows your fans to enter your childhood, we have the impression that you have suffered a lot. What was the hardest fight of your youth? Loves? The career? Life in general? "The hardest fight? It's a beautiful question... This profession isolates, it hardens you. Sometimes, you lose that amazed look at the life around you. And your heart is getting heavier. It flies less. It is a huge challenge to stay light. As my song says, the key to happiness is in a head that blooms because it always has ideas. It asks itself questions. It remains curious. The solution is there." You talk about many trips. Is Belgium a land that inspires you? "It is a remarkably creative country in relation to its size. Belgium is small and extremely large at the same time. It is also a country that is not necessarily rocked by the sun and good weather. Yet, the Belgian public is the warmest, most joyful and most generous on the entire continent. A real mystery." What image did you have of Belgium before you came there? "That of Tintin. I have been a fanatic of his adventures since my childhood. I went to the Hergé exhibition about ten times. I ended up being ashamed to ask for VIP passes to visit it, so I queued like everyone else. I also love good little dishes. What do we eat well at your place!" Have you had the opportunity to taste Belgian cuisine? "Of course. Unfortunately, in the center of Brussels, many of my favorite little restaurants have disappeared. The fault of Covid: they all went bankrupt. I loved going to eat alone in these places." What is your favorite Belgian dish? "I only eat what is in season. Before, it was the mussels and fries. Today, I don't eat it anymore because I got sick a few times to the point of being hospitalized. But not in Brussels (laughs)!" What surprised or marked you the most in terms of Belgian culture? "At home, we can very easily engage in a conversation. This generosity of spirit is a treasure, it is essential. It can happen in a store, in a restaurant, a bar or even a festival. You have the easy welcome, but not superficial as in the American way. These are always true and profound exchanges." In 2024, you will redo your comeback on the coasts of Vianney, Zazie and Big Flo in "The Voice France". "Freer, more uninhibited, more committed than ever! And with heart. This means that I have become less smooth and more human." How do you see the new generation? "It is fertile. There is a good balance between women and men. Artists are also less afraid to get involved, poetically too. It's great this idea to be able to take on your niche and cultivate it." You have a sense of talent discovery. You were the only one to bet on Kendji Girac or the Fréro Delavega duo. Your risk-taking pays off... "You shouldn't even think it's a risk. You have to follow your instinct and remain a fan without asking yourself too many questions." Which Belgian artist beats your heart for? "I really admire Pierre de Maere. He has a superb sensitivity, a beautiful way of expressing himself. What he is succeeding is fantastic. And humanly, he's a great guy. A very beautiful person. He was the only one with whom I wanted to share a moment in all this delirium of the NRJ Music Awards. We went to the famous Maison de Bacon, in Antibes, to eat a bouillabaisse!"
  17. Summary: many familiar faces! Amazing, just amazing memories. The Girls, Andy and a….crop top! I did NOT expect that
  18. So I actually don’t dream about Mika, only about meeting up with friends to go see a Mika gig - but I always wake up before the gig!! So frustrating!! And I actually think I still didn’t dream about Mika a few nights ago, because in my dream I was talking to someone whose name was Mika and he sounded like him, but he didn’t look like him AT ALL….and we were passionately talking about football… I am actually quite certain neither of us really passionately likes football, so all this combined, I have come to the conclusion that I still haven’t dreamt about him up to this day.
  19. Oh, I would love to hear new interpretations of any of his songs! I thoroughly enjoy when he starts “Relax” acoustically and with his lower register. It’s such a calm and soothing beginning, to then build op to what the song is. He has done it for the acoustic gig in Milan and for his symphonic concerts as well. It would totally work for festivals! The core and energy of the song is still perserved, just a different build up. I hope he will change his mind for the upcoming tour and go some new interpretations anyway.
