I like this survey.:biggrin2:

EDIT: Starter

Very First Concert Attended: Lynyrd Skynyrd

Last Concert Attended Meg & Dia

Experiences

Most Exciting: Probably Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was my first concert.

Most Disappointing:I don't know about the show, but meeting Hawthorne Heights afterward was extremely disappointing. I guess it's true, never meet your heroes.

Most Outrageous:Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer

Most Boring: The Autumn Life

Most Euphoric:Anberlin

Most Uneventful Ted Nugent

Most Fun: Koji on the Roof. His friend has just committed suicide, and he just sat and talked to us most of the night. Then afterwards he got McDonalds and came back and sat and talked with me.

Most Surprising: Mad Marge & The Stonecutters.

Most Mind-Blowing: Call it Arson, or Koji on the Roof. It's seriously a tie.

Most Predictable: Meg & Dia

Length

Shortest Concert: Probably about 20 minutes. And it was most likely someone from Warped Tour.

Longest Concert Warped Tour as a whole lasted the entire day. So I'll go with that.

Extra Bits

Best/Worst Setlist: Best was most likely Paramore. Worst would probably be The Getaway Drive the second time I saw them.

Best/Worst Set Design: Paramore had a really cute set, but I didn't like Escape the Fate's stage.

Best/Worst Merchandise: Meg & Dia had very VERY lovely clothes and bags for sale, but I was too busy trying not to die in the moshpits to actually buy anything. Then when I was out, I just wanted to go home. Worst was probably something by one of the local bands.

Best Opener/Worst Opener Best Opener was probably... actually, I don't know. Worst was probably Fallen from the Sky, but they were nice guys, even if the one guy almost hit me in the head with a microphone.

Best Encore/Worst Encore Best Encore was Skynyrd, worst encore was... I have no answer.

Best Theatrics (if there were any)/Worst Theatrics I haven't been to alot of concerts with major theatrics. Sorry!

How cool! I'd like to take this...

Starter

Very First Concert Attended: Nsync in 1998 (I was 8).

Last Concert Attended: Mika at Highline.

Experiences

Most Exciting: Lollipop at Nokia!

Most Disappointing: The Beach Boys. It was sad to see them so old, and almost defeated.

Most Outrageous: Mika at GMA- whole experience.

Most Boring: Dionne Worwick. I'm sorry. She's great, but the pausing for 5 million seconds in between every word became excessive.

Most Euphoric: Epoxies at the Fat Tour 2007, or Nokia. Depends how you define Euphoric. Maybe even FSLS- That was a solid, 2 hour show that seriously, entirely held 1200% of my attention.

Most Uneventful: Ciara

Most Fun: Nsync PopOdyssey 2001. They had toys!

Most Surprising: Mika @ Nokia. I tried to stay virginal to the tour before going.

Most Mind-Blowing: HIGHLINE!

Most Predictable: Nsync 1998, Christina Aguilera Stripped 2002

Length

Shortest Concert: Fat Tour 2005. Maybe Mika at Highline. About equal. Oh, and Kanye and Pharrell- They were all under an hour or so.

Longest Concert: Future Sex/Love Show

Extra Bits

Best/Worst Setlist: Justin FSLS: It was long and thick / Ciara- short. She was really new just then.

Best/Worst Set Design: FSLS 2007 / If worst = none really, Fat Tour 2005 excluding the Epoxies.

Best/Worst Merchandise: Justified Tour 2002 (I bought JT underwear!) / Ciara- Eh.

Best Opener/Worst Opener: Sarah Barielles- she did a great job, and Dream, because they acttually stole my hotel room, back in the day :roftl: / Tatyana Ali. It was just men stripping. I was 8, and my grandpa was mortified.

Best Encore/Worst Encore: Pharrell and Kanye West- they stayed around and did like, every song together at UGH. Amazing performer, Kanye is. / Timbaland's set after Justin timberlake- it was behind this curtain thing, and kind of boring, because I don't know. They were trying to get all dirty south on CT, and the energy wasn't there. I would havel iked it, but I don't know.

Best Theatrics (if there were any)/Worst Theatrics: Mika @ Nokia / Nsync 2000 No String Attached- looking back, I was only 10, but it was so lame!

Very First Concert Attended: Well my first concert was a free festival (if that counts) in my town called Parkpop. Went there to see Blondie.

Last Concert Attended: The Police last month.

Experiences

Most Exciting: Placebo in Germany 4 years back. I'd been a fan of them for a long time and then finally they started touring again. This was actually a pre-tour show. It was amazing.

Most Disappointing: Bon Jovi years back. The sound SUCKED and the band looked like they'd rather be somewhere else which resulted in my leaving after 30 mins.

Most Outrageous: Err.. well 30 Seconds to Mars wasn't that outrageous but the crowd was quite insane.

Most Boring: Bon Jovi, yet again.

Most Euphoric: The Police recently. Never in a million years did I expect to see them live.. It exceeted my expectations.

Most Uneventful: PJ Harvey, she didn't seem that into it.

Most Fun: Every Boo! gig I went to. Just dancing all night.

Most Surprising: Arctic Monkeys. Didn't think I'd like them live but they rocked.

Most Mind-Blowing: The Police! What a band. :wub2:

Most Predictable: Placebo the last time I saw them. (My 7th Placebo gig, it gets a little old seeing them do the same trick over and over again).

Length

Shortest Concert: 30 Seconds to Mars. Lasted about an hour.

Longest Concert Placebo. 2 Hours of joy.

Extra Bits

Best/Worst Setlist: Best: The Police. All their hits.

Worst: Err.. good question.. I don't know.

Best/Worst Set Design: Best: Placebo had some really nice images last tour.

Worst: Guns N Roses.. Quite boring.

Best/Worst Merchandise: Best: Placebo takes the cake yet again

Worst: Golden Earring. Old designs and way to expensive.

Best Opener/Worst Opener: Best: That has to be either Slut opening for Placebo, or Fiction Plane opening for The Police.

Best Encore/Worst Encore: Best: The Police.. MORE HITS. :biggrin2:

Worst: 30 Seconds to Mars.. short.

Best Theatrics (if there were any)/Worst Theatrics: 30 Seconds to Mars' entry was quite theatrical with their masks on.. Jared throwing roses into the crowd. That's about all the theatrics I've seen at shows hehe.

Thanks for doing it! You've been to some cool shows! I've heard Paramore are really good. :)

Btw I added on another part - your first/last concert attended. So you might wanna adjust your post. :) I will answer the questions later on tonight!

Thanks! I haven't been to a show in ages though. They closed down my favorite local venue. Alot of the bands I've mentioned aren't too popular, but they really ARE amazing. Especially the ones who stay and talk afterwards. One time, this one band's show got canceled basically, and nobody showed up except me and another girl. So the kid managing it that night gave us both our money back, and we just stayed and talked to the band for a while. Like... an hour or two. Then gave them directions to the interstate. :thumb_yello:

Another really cool band to see and meet, if you ever get the chance, are Bandcamp. They're really REALLY nice guys.

Very First Concert Attended: Savage Garden "To the Moon and Back Tour" Summer of 1998

Last Concert Attended: Stevie Wonder "A Wonder Summer's Night" August 31st, 2007

Experiences

Most Exciting: Prince, "One Nite Alone Tour" April 2002

Most Disappointing: O-Town. Shut up, it was free.

Most Outrageous: Mika, probably (June 8th at the Avalon). My heroes are all getting old, and less outrageous (unfortunately).

Most Boring: Only School related concerts have been boring. LOL! And O-Town.

Most Euphoric: Prince or Elton John (Sept. 2006)

Most Uneventful: Aerosmith. I enjoyed it, but there was nothing interesting about it.

Most Fun: Weird Al!!!! How can anyone top that guy?

Most Surprising: Lenny Kravitz. He opened for Aerosmith, but had a far better set.

Most Mind-Blowing: Paul McCartney. I close my eyes during Penny Lane, and thought I was listening to the Beatles.

Most Predictable: Prince "Musiclogy Tour" Summer 2004. I already knew what the set list would be after reading so many reviews. Still loved it of course!

Length

Shortest Concert: Mika

Longest Concert: Probably Paul McCartney

Extra Bits

Best/Worst Setlist:

Best: Stevie Wonder, he played almost the entire "Innervisions" album! Amazing!

Worst: Hmm...I will have to think about that one.

Best/Worst Set Design:

Best: Sting (Sept 2004) had some amazing high def screens that played the most realistic videos I'd ever seen!

Worst: anyone who has played a festival with no set at all. Not their faults tho.

Best/Worst Merchandise:

Best: Prince "Musicology Tour" had jewelry and tambourines! YAY!

Worst: Prince "Travelling Through Life Concert Series" had the same old shirts from his online store. I had to beg a staff shirt off of a crew member to get an interesting souvenir.

Best Opener/Worst Opener

Best: Anyone who opens their show with one of their dazzling, energetic hits!

Worst: Anyone who opens their show with a boring new song no one's ever heard of and doesn't care about. :roftl:

Best Encore/Worst Encore

Best: Paul McCartney with "Hey Jude"

Worst: I can't remember...must have been pretty bad!

Best Theatrics (if there were any)/Worst Theatrics

Best: Seeing Prince cry during an acoustic set on the Musicology tour.

Worst: A chicken dry humping a rabbit :bleh:

Diana I am going to see The Police in 12 days. I didn't think I'd ever get to see them live either. I worked for their record company in 1985 and just missed Sting coming in a few months before I started. One of the guys I worked with was friends with him and used to torment me with his stories :sneaky2:

He couldn't understand what all the fuss was about and said "He's just a guy!"

Starter

Very First Concert Attended: Rick Springfield, 1982

Last Concert Attended: Paolo Nutini, last month

Experiences

Most Exciting: Rick Springfield - someone traded me up to front row tickets on my way into the stadium and I nearly lost my 14-year-old mind. I couldn't hear or speak for 3 days afterwards.

Most Disappointing: Billy Idol - not a big disappointment but he couldn't sing particularly well live

Most Outrageous: Van Halen w/David Lee Roth - his spandex pants were painted on and it was a miracle he could even walk, muchless jump around like he did

Most Boring: Chantal Kraviazuk - awful Canadian singer who was on a bill with some other acts playing a benefit concert. She was even worse than I had anticipated and wouldn't get off the stage.

Most Euphoric: U2 - Bono is a god

Most Uneventful: The Corrs - nice show you could take your gran too, nothing to write home about

Most Fun: Ozzy Osbourne - I got trampled at this concert but when the security guards pulled me up they ushered me to the front row. I had been up in one of the luxury boxes on an all-you-can-drink session at intermission so I couldn't feel any pain!

Most Surprising: Mika and Patrick Wolf - I had minimal expectations at the time but they are two of the best artists I've ever seen.

Most Mind-Blowing: INXS - yes with Michael Hutchence - at the height of their popularity. I know you're all jealous :bleh:

Most Predictable: George Michael - he was great, I had great seats but he didn't do anything unexpected and the crowd was really tame for those days. I had been used to metal concerts where everyone rushed the stage as soon as the lights went down.

Length

Shortest Concert: Lily Allen and the Fratellis, because I was half an hour late :blush-anim-cl:

Longest Concert: Can't say for sure but it was probably U2 or Iron Maiden because they had the largest body of work. And Patrick Wolf didn't leave the stage until about 2 am! He did two encores and then started singing some random stuff while he was talking to the audience.

I'm too old to remember the extra bits :wink2:

Most Disappointing: rascal flatts last night.. i know i shouldn't but i compared them to mika's concert so it ended up, well, sucky ;thumbdown:

yeah rascal flatts and mika are the only concerts i've ever been to  i need to go to more concerts :biggrin2:

I am. :(

Sorry, I'm not trying to be obnoxious but that's always the response I get. First people want to know if it was Michael Hutchence and then they are crushed because they didn't get to see him.

I loved INXS since Original Sin came out but I really didn't expect it to be such a thrilling concert. Michael Hutchence is the sexiest man I have ever seen in my life. His charisma on stage was unbelievable. Never seen anything like it before or since.

Hehe well I get jealous a lot because most bands I like toured when I was only a wee Diana. Like Michael died when I was 13. :(

Very First Concert Attended: The first concert that I ever attended was New Kids On the Block in the early 1990s. Since I was so young, all I really remember is being upset because the music was so loud. Who knew that I would turn out the way that I did? LOL

Last Concert Attended: The last concert that I attended was Casting Crowns which was last night. Pretty good concert!

Experiences

Most Exciting: Seeing No Doubt for the first time definitely made me a huge ball of excitement. It was my first all-out rock concert, so I didn't hold back in enjoying every minute. Getting to see my hero for the first time was so awesome. :punk:

Most Disappointing: The most disappointing would have to be when I saw Relient K for the first time. My boyfriend and I arrived late, so our spots in the club weren't good at all. I remember very clearly having to stand behind this huge guy with really bad BO. I couldn't wait until the night was over.

Most Outrageous: I would have to say Mika's concert and I nearly base that entirely on the encore. LOL... the animal costumes....the confetti...the balloons...it was all outrageous. It felt like a huge party!

Most Boring: I'd have to say the Fray last August. I really wanted to go to see the Hot Hot Heat because they were playing the same night, but I couldn't get rid of the tickets. It was boring and I wondered why I was there after a while. lol

Most Euphoric: Seeing Queen for the first time after so many years of telling myself that I never would. To date that is the only concert that has had me bawling with tears.

Most Uneventful: Zr. Zhivegas (last time I saw him). He just kept doing random kicks in the air. That didn't cut it for me.

Most Fun: Gah. All of them were fun! Probably Queen or Killers. Everyone that went with me was super excited about both concerts, so that made everything all the better!

Most Surprising: I would have to choose the Killers concert (third time seeing them) last September. When my friends and I showed up at the venue, we were shocked to see that there were only three people waiting in line. Then getting to be on the front row to see such a phenominal performance and getting to meet some of the band afterwords was so much fun. All of us afterwords kept asking how we got such great luck.

Most Mind-Blowing: This is a hard question, as I am excited at nearly all of the concerts that I attend, but I suppose I would have to choose seeing Gwen for the first time on her Sweet Escape tour. Getting to be on the front row for the first time, seeing the SE tour after waiting so long, and then getting to talk to her when I gave her my gift was truly unreal.

Most Predictable: The most predictable would have to be seeing the band Dr. Zhivegas. I have seen them twice now and their setlists don't change much at all and they really don't do anything different. It's kind of weird.

Length

Shortest Concert: Hmmm...possibly Rooney! But the show was incredible throughout the whole thing, so I guess it was short and sweet. :roftl:

Longest Concert: I think it would have to be Elton John last October. What else would you expect with a setlist of 25 songs? lol

Extra Bits

Best Setlist: Gwen or Queen+Paul Rodgers.

Worst Setlist:

Best Set Design: The Killers Sam's Tour set design was really cool. I love the whole desert theme that they had.

Worst Set Design: Green Day, but that is only because I couldn't see the set. I was on the side of the stage. LOL

Best Merchandise: Gwen tour again. I spent a heck of a lot of money there.

Worst Merchandise: The Goo Goo Dolls (last time I saw them). They didn't have stickers for me to put in my concert book.:sneaky2:

Best Opener: The Hot Hot Heat opening for the Killers. I have never been more excited about an opener than when I saw them. They blew me away.

Worst Opener: The Red Romance from New York (same Killers tour). They were so boring.

Best Encore: Mika and co performing Lollipop. I remember feeling completely overwhelmed by all that was going on. LOL It was so much fun!

Worst:

(If there were any)

Best Theatrics: It's gotta be Gwen on her SE tour again. The woman knows how to give a show and how to put in extra little bits to excite us.

Worst Theatrics: I can't even think of one right now!

Aww, I can't believe it's been so long either. One advantage to being an oldling is I got to see a lot of music back in the day. Some of them are still around but it's not the same as seeing them at their peak.

I know this was 1991, but I don't care. Mika needs this hair.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=WxbmQw2qNAA

JUST a guy!? Sheesh!

Yeah gimme a break huh? This guy told his 15-year-old babysitter that he had a friend coming to town and would she mind looking after his children too? She answers the door and it's Sting dropping off his kids.

Not much difference between the two, huh? :wink2:

Ha! You know recently I looked at Rick Springfield for the first time in decades and noticed that he's tall, dark-haired, long-limbed, has ridiculous dimples, huge hazel eyes with long black eyelashes. Remind you of anyone?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=adaYUM5wl7c

It's been 25 years and nothing has changed in my world. :roftl:

I think I got my last concert wrong. I think Patrick Wolf was after Paolo.

OK, I'll try to stick with artists that you might actually have heard

of in THIS century! LOL!

Starter

Very First Concert Attended: Elton John in 1975 *sob*

Last Concert Attended: MIKA in June 2007!

Experiences

Most Exciting: MIKA by far!

Most Disappointing: Steve Martin (the comedian, does that count?

Yes, he actually used to tour! His show was not strictly

music, but he did play the banjo and sing a little bit.)

Most Outrageous: B-52s -- they're just crazy, but so much fun.

Most Boring: I can't think of any that have been what I'd call boring...

although if you asked my husband, he'd probably say the B-52s. He

FELL ASLEEP  during their show! We were actually in box seats

(they played in a smallish theater) and I was standing on my seat,

singing and dancing. I looked down and saw :sleep_1:

Most Euphoric: MIKA! Because I was euphoric to be there! But

also Chris Isaak, who I didn't expect to be such a great, happy, full of

fun performer.

Most Uneventful: Hmmm... not sure.

Most Fun: MIKA, just because I was so looking forward to it, and met

so many great folks who I shared the evening with. It was fun to

watch him perform LIVE and then the Lollipop, confetti and bubbles ending

was a lot of fun, too. And then there was

the whole "getting to meet Mika" thing that happened afterward -- yeah, that was fun :blush-anim-cl:

Most Surprising: James Taylor. What was surprising was that the show

was held in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena, which has a retractable roof. When

Taylor started to sing "You've Got a Friend" the roof opened, and we

were suddenly sitting under the stars, with thousands of voices from the

audience singing in unison, "You just call... out my name... and you know

wherever I am..." It was magical.

Most Mind-Blowing: David Bowie, just because I couldn't believe I was

actually seeing David Bowie in person. We started out about 20 rows

back but eventually worked our way up to almost the very front. It

was incredible.

Most Predictable: Probably Madonna. She did everything you

expected her to do, there were no real surprises. Still enjoyed

the show.

Length

Shortest Concert: MIKA, unfortunately. I'm so glad that he's

lengthened his set a bit for this tour.

Longest Concert: Maybe Billy Joel... we definitely felt we had gotten

our money's worth after that one.

Extra Bits

Best Opener/Worst Opener: Beastie Boys were the WORST! They opened for

Madonna when I saw her back in 1980-something...

Best Encore/Worst Encore: BEST was MIKA singing Lollipop :thumb_yello:

Best Theatrics (if there were any): Elton John, with

his costume changes, and jumping on his piano bench and running around

the stage -- definitely the most outrageously theatrical performer I've seen.

But ask me again after 17 November :wink2:

You're gonna love it! It's amazing like they haven't aged at all.

Fiction Plane (which I assume is opening for them at the show you're going to aswell?) will blow you away too. Have fun!

Diana did you know that Fiction Plane is fronted by Sting's son? I didn't find out until today otherwise I would have gone to meet him last night. They had set up to speak to fans in a section of the arena after the show but I decided to go home instead.

Anyway they are playing the El Mocambo tomorrow night which is a small club in Toronto where The Police played their first gig back in 1978. I know it's a bit of a long shot, but I am really, really, really hoping that Sting puts in an appearance. The capacity in the main room is only 400 and the show is not sold out so he would be impossible to miss.

BTW The Police were awesome of course. I had 8th row on Sting's side and the show was fantastic. His voice hasn't changed at all in 30 years. Unbelievable. I love what they did with Wrapped Around Your Finger, especially the percussion.

Starter

Very First Concert Attended: ‘NSYNC, for my 13th birthday

Last Concert Attended: Emerson Drive – my university’s fall concert this year

Experiences

Most Exciting: I’ll say either Maroon 5 or Rascal Flatts. Simply because my friends and I are very sneaky and both times we worked our way much closer to the stage than where our ticketed seats were. Plus, I had just gotten my Rascal Flatts ticket the day of the show.

Most Disappointing: I’m not sure. But I’m always disappointed by a lot of opening acts.

Most Outrageous: Black Eyed Peas. They’re pretty crazy.

Most Boring: Probably the American Idol tour. Hahaha

Most Euphoric: Mika

Most Uneventful: I don’t know, but a lot of the smaller gigs I go to are more uneventful. Sister Hazel was pretty uneventful, because it was in this small, local bar-type venue, and my friend and I couldn’t see anything.

Most Fun: I’ll say Brad Paisley

Most Surprising: I’ll say Gavin DeGraw. I loved his CD, but I was amazed with how entertaining he really was. Plus, his opening acts – Anna Nalick and Aslyn – were fantastic.

Most Mind-Blowing: Mika again

Most Predictable: ‘NSYNC. But that’s only because I had watched the HBO special of the concert earlier that year about 20 times.

Length

Shortest Concert: All the local gigs I go to.

Longest Concert: I have no idea. But counting the opening acts, I would say that Brad Paisley and Gavin DeGraw had pretty long concerts.

Extra Bits

Best Opener/Worst Opener: Best – Aslyn, who opened for Gavin DeGraw. And I also loved Sugarland and Sara Evans, who both opened for Brad Paisley. Worst – almost all of the others.

I did know that their frontman is Sting's son. :)

When I went to see The Police I already had Fiction Plane's album.. It seemed like I was the only one who knew them. :naughty:

They played a show at a small venue in Amsterdam a couple of days after the Police gig and I really regret not going.

Glad you enjoyed the show by the way! :biggrin2:

Thanks! You should have gone!!! I found some pics of their small gig in Amsterdam and the photographer said that Sting showed up!!

In any case, they were so much better at a small venue. There were only about 200 people there but so much energy. I got nice and close and an autographed CD from Joe later. :wub2:

I asked him if was going back to London any time soon or touring Asia with The Police and he said he's staying on tour and looking forward to going to Australia because he's never been. He said he lives in Camden and when I told him I used to live in South Kensington he said he went to school there but it was too posh for him. :naughty:
