FREDDIESDOUBLE Posted December 3, 2007 Author Share Posted December 3, 2007 Hi guys, we've just found out from John, and Mika spoke to us on the speakerphone, he apologised for the cancellation, but he has a virus and has to have 48 hours rest or his voice will be shot. He sounded quite rough, and I think this has just got too much for him. We spoke to the band and they took photos with us, and I got a drumstick off Cherisses! I'M SO HAPPY! So we are just milling around aimlessly at the moment outside the Apollo, not sure what's happening now. But doctors have ordered him to rest his voice, or risk permanent damage to his vocal chords. The concerts have now been rescheduled for February 26th (Hammersmith) and February 27th (Brixton.). If you had a ticket for the original dates it will still be valid. Here's what Mika's had to say about it. “It is with much regret that I have been forced to postpone my two remaining shows on my UK tour on 3 and 4 December at Hammersmith Apollo and Brixton Academy respectively. Over the past few days I have been fighting off a virus that has affected the majority of my band and crew. I thought after last night’s performance I could do the shows but this morning it was obvious I could not proceed. "After consulting a specialist, I have been advised to rest my voice for a minimum of 48 hours. If I did not do this I would risk long term damage to my vocal chords. I can only apologise to everyone who has bought a ticket and the inconvenience and disappointment this postponement has caused. I wonder if any of his crew can pass the things on??? If I'm not mislead, the band was there, so no worries about the band books and I guess one of them might have taken the cd thing, too? They always take a mobile number from you supposedly for this very eventuality... I agree it'll not be nice for people turning up none the wiser... I think though, i know Mika, and he will make it up to you all for sure. not much help tonight but he is so considerate that he will put on a special show for people who have missed him on these two dates. I think its a bug going round, so many people are sick. I am so sorry to hear Mika is ill too and I totally understand why he had to cancel. I was gutted this morning as I realized I couldn't go tonight but I hope we all get better and healthy and then re schedule the show. miss f Posted December 3, 2007 Share Posted December 3, 2007 WOW!!! I just heard the news and I also feel for all those people who have made their way to the venue to face disappointment. I went To the Brixton gig last night and although i was not up front, I didn't think for a minute that he was poorly, although he did mention that him and his band had been 'in bed' for the last couple of days. His performance was so energetic that i'm stunned by this announcement.. Its a shame that many people wouldn't of recieved this annonccement in time before heading off as according to Mika's statement: "I thought after last night’s performance I could do the shows but this morning it was obvious I could not proceed"... It would of been nice of his management team to have made the statement this morning as Mika obviously felt a little under the weather at this point..
