I'm sorry you bought so many tickets and it was cancelled!

If it's any consolation, the festival thing sucks in terms of seeing your favourite artist. When he comes to Oz he'll do a proper tour instead and you'll get the show you're waiting for.

And it may happen sooner than you think. He may have some time between laying down tracks for the album and a new album release/European tour so he'll do Asia and Australia in the interim.

From what Mellody was saying it sounded like it was a choice between Australia first/album second or album first/Australia second, so maybe they've just chosen the latter.

I'm guessing this was brought on by unexpectedly having to reschedule the London gigs to the end of February. He'd probably been planning to start working on the album when he returned from N. America 2 weeks earlier.

Just because he can't make it in time for the V Festival dates doesn't mean he doesn't have time to come to Australia at all.

you mean, going at his current cancellation rate

:naughty:

I know, it's not really funny :mf_rosetinted:

*follows RBSKY into kitchen and gets big bowl of weebix to cry intol*

*MSN slaps Mika* but I wanna concert!

*kicks Mika for good measure*

He better make it up to us...

*kicks Mika again*

*agrees with all of the above*

This means New Zealand is off as well... *gets weetbix from kitchen just to be able to join in the crying the proper way* :tears:

I still haven't managed to see him live and this is the third gig I miss out on.. :boxed:

Ok, so there wasn't even a gig booked in NZ yet. But he said he'd come. :mf_rosetinted: Though I suppose I should know better. His word isn't exactly much to hang in the Christmas tree. :sneaky2: (Swedish expression lol)

I feel like doing some kicking myself..

WHAT THE F*CK?

No f*cking Mika at Brixton in London, no f*cking Mika in Melbourne or Sydney. So, where the f*ck in the world do I have to go to see him live? :sneaky2:

Happikali, I feel awful especially for you. If you don't end up selling my ticket I'll pay for it and go to the festival anyway, or at least to part of it. What a f*cking waste. :boxed:

from the website below

http://www.inthemix.com.au/news/aust/35579/Mika_pulls_out_of_V_Festival

"UK pop prince Mika has pulled the plug on his scheduled Australian tour for the 2008 V Festival, citing recording commitments as the reason. “In an effort to create the best album possible for fans, Mika will need additional time to record in London,” read a press release from festival organisers.

Mika scheduled to play three shows on the V Festival tour, and with the remaining lineup featuring the Smashing Pumpkins, Duran Duran, Queens Of The Stone Age, Air (excluding Perth) and more, it’s unlikely his cancellation will have too many people crying into their Weetbix. We hope so, anyway!"

Intelligent plan, Mika, make the best possible album for fans you will no longer have here if you don't tour.

He may still come to Oz.

But if he doesn't, it'll be just one more lie to add to his already blossoming record.

Take my advice, Mika, this is not the way to start your career. :mf_rosetinted:

Agree..

Monday morning when I heard I pretty much went "*** *** ***" then I was calm and I thought "oh it will be ok, he'll still come and do concerts instead"

I didn't think I'd end up commenting about it on here.. But I've had over 24 hours to think about it now.. I can't be silent about my disappointment.. Just like Scut, I haven't seen Mika live yet.. so for us it looks as if we have to wait until july 2008 or god knows when..

If there was a chance he wouldn't be performing at the festivals due to making an album then Why did they have his name in the line up to begin with... how about a **TO BE CONFIRMED beside his name.. that way we would've waited before buying our tickets..

We were all online buying them within 24 hours of them going on sale..

AT CHRISTMAS!!! HELLO MIKA.. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS FINANCIALLY FOR MOST PEOPLE AT CHRISTMAS TIME..

oh, no wait.. You probably don't..

I know others have copped it worse by travelling across the globe to see him... but .. grrrrr.. like Scut said.. it's not the way to start your career..

I just need to voice that when a Band/Artist does things like this.. I don't tend to stick around as a fan... I'm sure I might not be the only one that might say when new dates are announced 'Stuff it. Mika's not worth it.. he cancels everything.. I'm not wasting my money on someone like that.. '

ok i've ranted..

Please Mika.. prove me wrong..

I feel so horrible about this, if he does more things like this he will loose many fans:boxed: Like Scut said: This is not the right way to start a career.

Glad I live in Holland (even if he was here just at 1 festival and did 1 concert, and I didn't even go)

I am SO sorry for you, guys.. :boxed: I REALLY am... :boxed:

at least you get to know it beforehand and can choose not to purchase tick or to resell it. though it does suck big time, esp. as australia is so far apart from everything else, it's not really easy for ya to see him soon again.

a big hug

I only just found out! This is awful............When on earth is he going to come here? He tours the rest of the world constantly. He does a show every week, pretty much! But the Aussies....nope....

:(

I doubt we will see him down here until AFTER he records his second album and even then he will do Europe first. Maybe we will get a look in before album 3 and by then the Aussies will go "Mika WHO??" :D

Think about it from the perspective of the festival organizers. Of course they want to sell as many tickets as possible. If they can sell however many tickets to people who are coming for just one artist, that's still more money in their pockets. And if the artist in question cancels and/or never finalizes their appearance, they know that some people will still go anyway and try to have a good time. It's awful, but put on the hat of a festival marketing person who is motivated by their bottom line.

As for Mika, it seems he really doesn't consider any performance to be confirmed until it's on his MySpace and/or Mikasounds. It happened with Canadian Idol, it happened with that festival in Sweden that conflicted with GMA in NYC, and it happened in Montreal this past fall.

I really hope that he does what he needs to do and then gives you guys a proper tour. Ideally, should hit Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and maybe Canberra as well. That's what, six dates? He did six dates in Europe in seven days. More realistically, he could take maybe two and a half weeks and do six dates in Oz and maybe one or two in New Zealand. But that's entirely up to "Them" who control his schedule.

I really hope that it works out that way for you guys, and that in the end, it's all worth it. I think that he's under a ton of pressure for a new album, and I'm sure decisions are being made by all sorts of people who say one thing then do another.

*hugs the Aussies*

I just want to say thanks to all those who have supported us. I know many of you have been in the same position and I can now say from personal experience that it sucks, and we have more notice than most of you, and so a chance to get the money back.

I'm crossing my fingers that we do get tour dates eventually so he can show he hasn't forgotten that proper tour he once mentioned to us, and that, by that time, we're not sick of the boy

I keep trying to be optimistic, saying things like it'll be better when he comes etc, but that doesn't stop the fact the I, like everyone else who brought tickets or was thinking of buying tickets, and others who couldn't buy tickets even, are disappointed.

Does he really want to be known as the artist who cancels all the time? Especially when just starting his career. If he wants to still be recording in 10 years time, then he'll want to keep those hardcore fans who will buy the albums, not make them feel he isn't worth supporting.

I guess after only receiving a promo tour with one last minute concert and a as yet unfulfilled vocal plan for a proper tour plus cancellations for festivals, it really shows how much he values his Australian fans. We're probably just above those who have never seen him (*crosses fingers those countries and us will see him sometime this year at the least*)

Anyways, I just wanted to get that out I guess.

Mika, feel free to show us that we Aussies do matter to you after all.

As bad as I feel for everyone affected, am I really being silly by thinking that

a-this was never actually confirmed by Mikasounds (ie, Mika)

b-the above quoted post is from a third party site and linking to the festival itself, so *if* the performance was never actually confirmed by camp Mika, they would hardly say that they announced it when it wasn't certain, no?

It makes more sense (for them) that they just say that the artist pulled out....

As far as I can see, this was probably never actually confirmed, and it therefore not an actual cancellation, but it was misadvertised in the first place.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh and obviously my most heartfelt sympathy for everyone who has been affected by it, I really feel for you, and I am sorry.

I just tried to be objective with my post, that's all.

Thanks to everyone who has offered their support through this troubling time.....

I agree with the fact that until it is posted on "official" sites that there can be some rumours floating about that are not true, but one would assume that when a festival like this is announced there would be some sort of contract in place?

Makes me wonder if the reason the interview with Mika which has being meaning to take place on one of our charts shows was continually delyed because of this reason? Maybe he knew all along and didn't want to get quoted saying he would be down here when he knew there was a chance it wouldn't happen?

You do have a point sariflor. I always wondered why it wasn't mentioned on Mika's myspace when it was all over Duran Duran's for instance that they are coming.

As for no longer being a fan... This is not going to stop me from being a fan. I adore him too much. Call me a doormat, but I put up with much more sh!t from my SIL and her I could cheerfully strangle! That doesn't mean I'm not upset or disappointed but I'm not about to chuck him. He's given me too much for starters (life beyond depression for instance but this is not really about obligation) and his voice is just too bloody good. I can't take that voice out of my life. And if he continues to be around, I'll continue to be around. Maybe i'll wax and wane with the intensity of my fandom, but I can't see me giving him up.

I could move on... I'm not the type to remain loyal to bands and artists despite their crap... I'd still listen to the music but I'd just download it rather than buy it (so that they DON'T get the money..)

It's one of our powers of being a listener..

I think if it wasn't for the people I have met here and bonded with then I might've already left this forum... I don't spend much time in chat about mika section.. I don't feel like discussing his personal life.. I assumed he was Bisexual before i joined.. and I couldn't care what way he curls his hair... I just like his music... and would've loved to see the show cos it looks awesome on youtube

Anyway.. I agree about it not being confirmed on his page etc... we hadn't considered that at the time.. I guess it just made sense we were getting the festivals because concert dates were being announced for 2008.. So because of that there wasn't anything about Mika appearing at V festival that felt weird to us..

I guess this is yet another lesson for us Fans...

Nothing is true until Mikasounds confirms it and even then it could be cancelled.....

hardly an encouraging thing for fans to have to be aware of 24/7..

btw, about this new album.. I wonder if it will be one that is more about Mika than the 'commercialised, chart focused' LICM is.. I have to say, it would want to be now......

yes.. i'm still sh!tty.........:sneaky2:

Yes.. I just wrote that I think LICM is a CHART FOCUSED ALBUM AND NOT A PERSONAL STRUGGLE WRITTEN FROM MIKA'S SOUL.... *screams*

Its predictable.... we all expected it at the back of our mind, but at the same time its shocking because we hoped.

We told ourselves that he wouldn't do it this time, that it would be worth buying the tickets, worth getting excited.

But in the end, we have to have this hope. Doesn't stop it from hurting any less though, and doesn't stop us from feeling bitter and jaded where he is concerned.

How many times have you been cancelled now Christine? :naughty:
