Mika's 2007 mistakes

This article sounds like rubbish. He hasn't sold 4 million albums in the UK.

Why would he say he has many regrets about the idiotic things he's done and that he's proud of them in the same breath?

I'm pretty sure he's going into the studio in a few weeks so why would he imply it's not going to happen any time soon? And what kind of arrogant ass says their next album "will be brilliant"?

Actually Christine, I am pretty sure I heard him say these very things on the Jo Whiley interview or another around the same time. It was sometime before Christmas that he did say this sort of thing.

I thought it was weird when we already knew he was cancelling the Aussie shows in order to do the album, that he was saying he was in no hurry to do the next album.

You beat me to it, Blue Sky. He DID say some of these things and I'm

pretty sure it was the Jo Whiley interview too -- but I don't have

time to listen to it at the moment and pinpoint the exact part of

the interview. He definitely said he was in NO RUSH to make the next

album -- that other people were for him to do it, but he was not. That's

pretty much an exact quote as I remember it, having listened to the

interview a few times. :blush-anim-cl:

But I don't think we knew yet about the Aussie cancellation when this

interview originally aired -- the timing was close, but I do think the

interview predated the cancellation by a few days. The interview was

around December 12-13 and the cancellation announcement was December 15-16, something like that.

What exactly did he say? If there's one thing I've learned about Mika it's that most of what he says is ambiguous and non-committal and at best you've got a 50/50 chance of drawing the right conclusion trying to read between the lines.

But I still can't imagine the "brilliant" quote is accurate, serious and in context. Maybe the process of making it will be brilliant for him, but the actual album? Who would make such a boastful claim about a piece of work that doesn't even exist yet?

He did say something about the new album being amazing -- I just

can't remember the exact word he used. I don't think it was

"brilliant" -- hurricane, as someone said, maybe... but not

sure about that. Again, if I had the time

to listen to the interview I'd tell you -- maybe later after I've done

my grocery shopping! :thumb_yello: Or maybe someone else can

find it for you. :)

:naughty: Amazing is a different story then. I think Mika would describe a trip to the post office as amaaaaazing.

LOL! Well, I was wrong, he didn't use the word

amazing, as hard as that may be to believe! :naughty:

So I just had a quick look through some things.

There are a couple articles circulating right now, all with titles

like "Mika's Mistakes" etc. It's funny how they all

steal from one another and misquote or distort the

quotes to suit the story they want to sell/tell... we've

seen it how many times this year?

But in this case the quotes all seem to be lifted from this

article in the Guardian Observer, dated December 9:

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/omm/story/0,,2224062,00.html

If you can believe THIS article, he does use the word HURRICANE

to describe the next album.

I fast-forwarded through the Jo Whiley interview, and around

34 minutes (of the recording that Diana made -- it's not on the BBC

site any more), she asks him about the next album and he says

again that he's in no hurry, but that other people are. When she

presses him and asks if there will be a new album in 2008 he says

he doesn't know. He adds that there will be *something*, that he

has enough material to put something out and that he probably

will, but he won't commit to whether there will be a new album in

2008.

The Jo Whiley thing was December 12 and the cancellations for the

Aussie festival were announced a few days after that...

That's why I said it's rubbish. It only takes a very small tweak to change the tone and meaning entirely.

Ah, cheers! :thumb_yello: The hurricane thing sounds more reasonable. It's the way he perceives it, not some judgement about its quality. To say it's brilliant sounds like he thinks it's a genius piece of work. It would be bad enough if the album was about to be released, but since he hasn't even recorded it yet, it sounds ridiculous.

So...what? Perhaps an EP and not an album? I certainly hope he's not being rushed to record an album he doesn't feel prepared for. :sneaky2:

We want a brilliant hurricane, not something to fill his record company's coffers.

im waiting :naughty:

guess it's not hard to fill the list :roftl:

I'm with you here...

"brilliant" is sth only an "arrogant ass" would say! hurricane makes a lot more sense to me and I remember reading that article whereas I have never heard him call it "brilliant"

as for the time when the album is supposed to come out... I don't know what to believe anymore, I think the best is just to wait and see...

Mika's 2007 mistakes

Dec 28, 2007, 7:30 GMT

The 24-year-old star, whose debut album 'Life in Cartoon Motion' sold four million copies in the UK, also revealed he is in no rush to record his next LP.

Mika said: "I am in no hurry to get back in the studio. I'm sure a lot of people would like me to get on with it but I'm going to take my time. It will be another pop album and it will be brilliant."

You wonder if sometimes he does this just to confuse people, or whether his right hand doesn't know what the left is doing...:boxed:

I also thought this thread was for us to "pick the mistake". Cuz then I would have said the one on the DVD was the most recent obvious one, where he mucked up the verses in HE.

and when he introduced Mikey as his drummer (the part where they r in Italy)
