bexstar
Interestingly the Fiat website (http://www.fiat500.com) news section mentions that “pop star Mika will be performing several tracks from her album...” see below. Now my Engrish is pretty good, but mistaking his for her? What kind of PR people are these people employing? Note to PR people: DO SOME RESEARCH!!! A spectacular party for the launch of the Fiat 500 in the UK - January 2008 The 21st of January 2008 will be a red-letter day for the UK. The Fiat 500, ‘Car of the Year 2008’, will be officially launched on the UK market, and to mark the occasion a spectacular event has been organised at the British Airways London Eye in London. At 8.00 p.m. (GMT +2) on January 21, exactly 500 hours after the start of the year, the eyes of the British public will look to the skies: the British Airways London Eye , the highest panoramic wheel in Europe, will be lit up in a fanfare of lights and colours, and inside one of its glass cabins will be the Fiat 500. A complete turn of the wheel will carry the new car into the skies over London, and it will be remaining in its glass cabin for a full two weeks following the event. This will undoubtedly be the most exciting and spectacular part of the evening, but the event will be starting beforehand, at 6.00 p.m., with bands, DJs and top presenters. There will also be a spectacular fireworks display, and pop star Mika will be performing several tracks from her album ‘In Cartoon Motion’, in celebration of the real star of the evening: the Fiat 500. The whole event will be followed by national radio and television, and it will also be broadcast in a live web streaming in Fiat Dealerships up and down the country. From the 24th Jan up to the 3rd February, the Fiat 500 will continue to travel around the London Eye in a private capsule and you could touch and experience other 4 Fiat 500 positionated around the site. Here you could also design and win your own unique Fiat 500 on our configurator. Make a date in your diary for January 21 in London. And if you can’t be there in person, then later you will be able to see and hear all about the spectacular event on the site http://www.fiat500.com. greta
Turin, January 22, 2008 -- FIAT Group Automobiles UK Ltd last night (Mon Jan 21) launched the stunning new Fiat 500 with a flight in one of the capsules on the British Airways London Eye. The Fiat 500 took to the sky at 8.00pm – exactly 500 hours into 2008 – as a fantastic light show lit up a showbiz and celebrity event on the banks of the River Thames. Around 500 VIPs including Kelly Osbourne, Jade Jagger, Eva Herzigova, Eddie Jordan, Leah Wood and 1,500 people were invited to the all-ticket launch event, which featured fantastic live performances by pop sensations Mika, The Feeling and The Vibrants. There was a cavalcade of Fiat 500s old and new as the car in the London Eye capsule rose into the air at the start of a two-week ‘flight’ that will see it cover around 84 miles – without turning a wheel! Eva Herzigova tests the 2008 Fiat 500 Fiat Managing Director, Andrew Humberstone, says: “We are absolutely delighted to have given thousands of people a party to remember, and the chance to watch the launch of our new Fiat 500. “We are confident that this car, with it stylish looks, economical consumption figures, safety features and green credentials, will win a place in everyone’s hearts.” While the Fiat 500 is airborne, members of the public have the chance to WIN a Fiat 500 in an interactive design competition being staged at the London Eye until February 3. source:FIAT other articles with pix http://www.newcarnet.co.uk/Fiat_news.html?id=7566 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/CARS/news/39584.html
