dcdeb Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Have loved Depeche Mode for ages... but if you know about me and the '80s then you would have guessed that dcdeb
Diana Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Hehe I knew I'd find you in this thread Deb. I love Depeche Mode. They remind me of my goth days when they used to throw Depeche Mode parties at my fav club.

They remind me of my goth days when they used to throw Depeche Mode parties at my fav club. I know, I'm so predictable. I think Depeche Mode is the one band I listed by name on my myspace page -- the rest I just classified as "New Wave"... which I was totally into in the '80s. Never a goth, but still, just loved so much of it all from Depeche Mode and the Cure to Echo and the Bunnymen to The Smiths to The Clash to Thompson Twins to... oh, don't get me started, or else I'll dig out and resurrect Suzy's old '80s thread! dcdeb

Was Depeche Mode goth? I just can't get them enough of them either! (wow, pun ) Haha well I don't think they were.. but same crowd that went to goth nights, also went to these Depeche Mode things. "Celebration for the masses" they used to call that night, how inventive. Nice pun.

Love them all!!!
Queenie Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Was Depeche Mode goth? I just can't get them enough of them either! (wow, pun ) Nope. Period. And you know i can make long speeches about goth, no goth... I hate these kind of labels, specially when people don´t know about the origins (no worries, di, i´m not talking about you xDDD) I love Depeche Mode too. My favourite album? Violator & Songs of Faith & Devotion I lost the faith with Ultra & Exciter (they were quite ok, but not their bests) and of course, when alan wilder said goodbye (i invite you to listen to recoil but i warn you it can be too industrial for sensitive ears ). Playing the Angel is a great album I know, I'm so predictable. I think Depeche Mode is the one band I listed by name on my myspace page -- the rest I just classified as "New Wave"... which I was totally into in the '80s. New wave is not a bad label, but some of them are more postpunk/dark wave (like The cure) (I have to say..Echo & the bunnymen are amazing live )
wasabi_tea Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 Was Depeche Mode goth? I just can't get them enough of them either! (wow, pun ) They're new wave/dark wave, I think, the latter genre being quite popular within the gothic community.
Em' Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Oh God I love Depeche Mode! Been listening to them for ages! I went to their concert in Paris last year and it was BRILLIANT!
Blossom Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) I am a HUGE Depeche Mode fan and have been since August 27th, 2005 (yes, I remember the date!). They're the first band I've listened to whose lyrics I really can connect with - especially 'Home', which sums up my life PERFECTLY. I have already seen them once in concert (June 26th, 2006 during 'Touring The Angel') and they were AMAZING and it was actually the first time I had ever cried at a concert. I woke up the following morning with a sore throat and 2 very sore arms but it was totally worth it. I will be seeing them in concert for a 2nd time on December 10th and I cannot wait! My favourite songs are 'Enjoy The Silence', 'Never Let Me Down Again' and 'Home' (all #1 for me) but I really love EVERYTHING by them. My Top 5 favourite albums would be 'Violator', 'Music For The Masses', 'Black Celebration', 'Some Great Reward' and 'Sounds Of The Universe' but I love how none of their albums sound alike. MIKAmadRosie1996 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 my dad got me into depeche mode when i was really young, but it wasnt until sounds of the unierse came out that i really got into them (i especially like 'in chains' and 'wrong') and dad took me to see one of their gigs at the O2 back in december!

Fangirl Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 My dad MAKES me listen to them. I don't know a lot about them, or a lot of songs, but I like Depeche Mode.
Blossom Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 My dad MAKES me listen to them. I don't know a lot about them, or a lot of songs, but I like Depeche Mode. I became a HUGE fan back in August 2005 and I honestly don't know how I managed to ignore them for so long. They are MILES superior to any other group around today...
BiaIchihara Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) Yey, finally I found a thread for Depeche Mode Ok, lil introduction I always liked DM although I didn't know that much about the band and their songs, at that time, I liked (and I still like) listening ''Strange Love'', ''Enjoy The Silence'' ''Just Can't Get Enough'', ''Wrong'', ''Peace'' and ''Hole To ''Feed''. I've just become a huge fan these last days and realised how much I love DM since I started to listen ''Sounds of The Universe'' and ''Music for The Masses'' (because of ''Nothing'' song) and ''Violator'' (I started and finished yesterday, because of ''Enjoy The Silence'' one). I still can't choose my favourite song, all of them are amazing , but I just can't get enough of listen ''Never Let Me Down Again'', don't know how many times I've listened until now P.S: I'm enclosing pics of them because there's no pics here :wub2: Edited May 27, 2011 by BiaIchihara

Etoile2roses Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) I love this topic One of my favorite band I saw them live only one time, it was in 1992 or 1993 (I don't remember exactly) with my best friend (Bercy - Paris), it was an amazing show, we laughed, sung and danced a lot , we were not in the front row but on sitting places where we were not sitting at all but on top of the chairs ... I still listen to them, I love their early songs, and some of the new ones My fav: "Shake the disease" http://youtu.be/Hx_XPN_tDys "Stripped" http://youtu.be/amLw-hTgXAI "In your room" and few more Edited May 27, 2011 by Etoile2roses
