Let's see next year...I'm a bit tired of listening always the same songs
rilo8913 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 It's basically saying that Mika wouldn't yield to the pressure his record company's putting on him to release his second album quickly despite what large sum of money they would offer him. However, he will accept 350,000 euros to play the Main Square Festival in Arras on July 5 (which is the same sum they're paying Ben Harper, it says). Oh, and the title means that Mika has a taste for luxury. .....(any native speakers, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about any of that )

That's what it says They add that Radiohead will be payed 400 000€. There's sth I don't understand though : first they say "he asked" (the amount of money) then they say "he accepted" Do you think he asked for more money than he was supposed to be payed? And thanks Greta for posting
Blue Sky Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I think the words "un cachet astronomique" convey a certain.... je ne sais quoi about the sum he is being paid...they seem to transcend language boundaries... and a quick xe.com calculation puts that figure at $540,156.80USD Probably enough to cover the plane tickets, the band, the hotel and food and drinks, wouldn't you say? With change left?:roftl: GO MIKA!!

And thanks Greta for posting Hmmm, I don't understand that radiohead "only" gets 50 000 euros more than Mika... Not to say I don't like Mika ofcourse But if he gets paid that much I would expect them to get a whole lot more... I mean, they've been going for way longer and have a huge fanbase... oh well. I actually can't begin to understand how much money that is
