Shikutukumimika Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 You know guys, everybody is talking about going to Mika concerts, speak to him, stuff like that, and what about me? My parents don't even aloud me to have a Mika T-shirt or a button! Sometimes i feel so.. sad.. Because so many of you are going to his concerts and i may not go to a concert until I'm 16 or 18 or something like that. When I read all those messages about the concerts, and mika stuff you bought, i feel mispleased, like I don't belong here.. Well, might be I may go to a concert when Mika comes to Deventer, my hometown, but h'll never do, it is such a little city.. Sorry if u now think i hate u all, I don't. I just wanted to say this, now I feel better
guylainem123 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 i'm sorry you feel that way. i think what you are feeling is normal... i'm not sure how old you are, but don't worry, your day will come! you are not alone.... lots of people on here haven't been to a concert or met mika after the gigs. there may be many reasons why your parents don't want to let you go. it can be scary for them, especially if you have to travel to another town. but as you grow older, i'm sure your permissions will change... you just have to be patient. not having been to a concert or meeting him doesn't make you less of a fan! i for one went to 1 mika concert and did not meet him after the gig. i didn't even try. why? because i had a 15 years old girl with me & i had promissed her mom that she would be back home RIGHT after the concert as she had school the very next morning. i'm not worried... maybe next time then again, maybe not. having a button or a t-shirt isn't such a big deal... his music is what is important! so enjoy! xxx
Christine Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 You don't have to feel like you don't belong here. There are many, many fans who have not been able to see Mika yet. He only toured for 18 months and he had to spend much of that time playing the same cities and countries several times. He has not been to Africa or South America and has spent little time in Asia, Australia and the Middle East. There are also young people on MFC who haven't been to concerts for the same reasons as you. Their parents won't let them go to concerts because of their age or because it's too far to travel. You are not alone and as long as you are a Mika fan, you belong here.
Shikutukumimika Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 You're both right, his music is what is important, and I'm not alone! But Now I've got another problem: I can only listen to the songs on LICM, because I may not listen to music downstairs, and I may not take my laptop to my bedroom :S But now I hope my parents will let me go to a concert when I'm older (I'm 12 now) My sister (she is 14) wanted to go to a metal concert, but my parents didn't aloud her to go, until she was 16. But might be I don't have to be 16 to go to a popconcert, only to go to a metal concert And thanks you don't think I'm totaly crazy or some..
Christine Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 You don't have a CD burner in your laptop to make CDs?
babspanky Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I wasn't allowed to go to concerts till I was 16 either, which seemed totally unfair to me at the time! Sometimes it's great being young and sometimes it sucks! That's life I guess, as Christine said, your time will come, meanwhile enjoy your cds and come here and make friends with other Mika fans! (Not me of course )
xBillyBrownx Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Awwww! No please don't feel that way. So what you've never seen Mika live? Doesn't mean you can't love his music or listen to him. You should use those reviews from people to know what it's like to see Mika. Very soon you'll get a chance to see him. Time flies by. Just enjoy what you've got now. Have fun listening to Mika and dancing to his Music! And talking to us here on the MFC. P.S. You're not the only one! Loads of MFCers have never seen Mika. You're luvky you get to buy his music and watch his videos And you find stuff about him on here.
im_stuck_in_the_middle Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Another thing... congratulations, you created the 3,500th thread in this section!

guylainem123 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Aw, what a sweet tale. Go back to calling him boy though. i do.... it's more fun!!! and that's all i have to say about that !
guylainem123 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Maybe Mika is the new boy in town. :roftl: but i do call that boy "michael"
Marilyn Mastin Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I've only been to one concert up to now. I was lucky enough to meet him afterwards, and I hope to go to more concerts. But I'm in my fifties. I can understand your parents being nervous, but maybe, if you could pursuade someone older to go with you, they might approve. Sometimes parents seem mean, but they are just being protective.
agnieszka Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I understand how you feel. My parents only allowed me to go to concerts when I turned 15. And that was only if my older sister would come with me. I remember how gutted I felt when an artist I really liked at that time came to Poland and there was no way I could see him. I cried for a week. But 2 years later I turned 15 and he came again so I finally got a chance to see him. I stopped liking him shortly after that but that's another story.. Mika is here to stay so I'm sure you'll get a chance to see him, sooner than later I hope!

Hevthehampster Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 dont feel like that....i've only seen mika once in concert and i was unfortunate not to meet him afterwards....it was also unlucky as i wasnt as big a fan then...this was back in november... but the mfc has really made me become a huge obsessive fan and i am grateful to every single one of the mfcers! - you will feel the same - i am assured! the first concert i went to was busted back in 2003 when i was 10...and im going to see the hoosiers in the fall...but otherwise i havent been to a great deal of concerts....your time will come!
Christine Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 :naughty:Oh, how you wish the younger generation would believe you when you say that in five years, this won't be at all important, but like us, they just have to find out for themselves. Actually I'm still traumatized that my parents wouldn't let me see Shaun Cassidy when I was 9. Why do you think I'm still chasing pop stars at 40?
CazGirl Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 don't worry about it hun! There are plenty of us that haven't met the big guy yet *points at self* and there's also several people who haven't been to a concert either, eithyer because of insufficient funds/parents/Mika hasn't come to the country Mika has been the netherlands before hasn't he? if he has, he'll return at some point, and if he hasn't, there's always a chance he will. knowing Mika and his management...anything can happen
CazGirl Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Actually I'm still traumatized that my parents wouldn't let me see Shaun Cassidy when I was 9. Why do you think I'm still chasing pop stars at 40? now, y'all keep your judgements to yourself lol, but I was a huge Britney fan when I was younger. She was like, the person I looked up to and idolised (in a different way than Mika, obv, she was young, sweet, goofy, and i wanted her to be like my big sister or somethin...you know, when she was in her prime lol) and I wanted to go to her concerts but my mum didn't let me. I was also in the 9, 10 and 11 age period, but my mum was all like "oh but who's going to go with you?" and the lateness of the show, parking and shizz. I'm still gutted I never went. Thanks mum

I just wanted to say this, now I feel better awww, I know how you feel exactly! its hard to come on here when you've never been to see Mika and talk about his shows etc, but you are still welcome. And I know you might think you'll never get to see him, but never say never, I mean I did and I thought it'd never happen. So just think positive, and someday I'm sure you will get to see him.

My older sister liked Mika, but when I started to listen to his music and became a fan, she didn't liked him anymore.. Could that be because me? xD It was very funny, though.. I cried when I heard Mika was in Amsterdam, in the HMH, and I asked my parents about going to a concert, but they would not really talk about that until I'll get older.. But I heard them talk whit my older sister about concerts, and she had to be 16.. And thanks to you all, I'm feeling much better now!
