I don't usually win things, but I registered anyway, on the off chance....I did win Mika tickets to the MTV awards once, so you never know...I will come back and tell you if I win!! But I didn't send in any photos, how ridiculous, they also want those people to get up on stage and do a kind of gaga imitation:roftl:

First I couldn't stand her, didn't like Just dance & Pokerface at all;

but then I heard her singing "Pokerface" acoustic in a television program and I was really impressed. And now I can't stop listening to the album :biggrin2:

I think Mika should use the "immense" adjective for something LGG does by her own, not for something she stole from other artists.

Unfortunately, these videos are not available to view in my country, but they are completely irrelevant to what I'd like to say here...

As you said, there is nothing new under the sun and as Andy Warhol said, an important part of pop art involves recycling... So, to me, borrowing ideas for either songs or the visual representation of something is not necessarily negative. It simply needs to fit with what the new artist is about and what fits their personality.

A do hate 'stealing images or styles', but I only use these these phrases when Iit is rather clear for me a brainless pop act is forced on an image by their creative team and this image has nothing to do with their own persona.

To me, Lady Gaga looks quite genuine with the ability to choose the right elements for the right person when recycling.

I don't know if the LGG's pop act is brainless or not, that's a thing that only time will say, i just think that her creative team's strategy it works well...for now! :bye:

Yes, it does work in terms of the publicity, doesn't it? :wink2:

I must add, though, that I am rather conservative in that respect and if it was any other act I would have probably dismissed them because of the image for I don't like to be manipulated... :cool:

However, somehow when I saw her first 2 videos on VH1 (the same time I heard these songs first) I just knew she was different. The way she was acting and performing in the video somehow suggested to me that she was in full control of her own act.

I know it might not be a nice thing to say, but she was most definitely not signed for her looks, unlike the many Baribie girls we know... :naughty:

So, because the songs I heard so far (around 20, I guess on YT) are rather cool pop songs I don't mind her image and even tend not to pay attention to the lyrics that I am rather critical of, too.:cool:... but I am learning to be tolerant and LGG is the perfect artist to practise it with:biggrin2:

Many interesting thoughts!

She makes me think of Madonna in her early years but I know too little about Madonna to make any further comparisons.

I bet she’s the perfect challenge to practice tolerance on!:roftl:

Look at this :wub2: Lady Gaga and the hottie Alexander Skarsgård from True Blood are talking Swedish in her video, made by Jonas Åkerlund!

Alexander was telling about this on another website that when they were making the video she heard Jonas and him talking Swedish and she became interested and said: Let's do it in Swedish!:wink2:
