Sheep_Girl Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hello to everyone! I would like to formally (and finally) introduce myself to you all! First off, I live in the United States in the city of Miami, where the Mika-fever has certainly not yet reached. I'm hoping the second album will amend that. I am fluent in English and Spanish (my first language), and have a pretty good command of French (it is my minor at university). And, I am very glad to say that I am a Mika fan! The very first Mika song that I heard was actually from a Verizon wireless cellphone commercial ("Love Today"), but, at the time, I did not think much of it. It wasn't until I went last year to France around late April-early May that I became fully conscious of how wonderful Mika's music is. I would like to say that the first Mika song that I liked was "Lollipop," and how I began to like it brings fond memories for me from my trip last year. In France, I had the habit of falling asleep with the T.V. on at night and sometimes was woken up by whatever program was blaring at 6 in the morning. One morning, when I was tossing and turning, fighting to see if I would keep sleeping or finally wake up, I was lured awake by a funny little tune coming from the direction of the T.V. I sat up, put on my glasses and thought that the cartoons I was watching was some kid's T.V. show. Then, as the "T.V. show" progressed and the animation became more and more surreal, I began to wonder to myself "Man, this is one bizarre kid's program...the kids watching this show are gonna be messed up for life." o.O;; It wasn't until after "Lollipop" ended that I realized I had been watching a music video. But that was enough for me. It only took one listening of "Lollipop" to get me forever hooked to Mika's music. So, I went back home from France, changed the ringtone of my cellphone to "Lollipop" and immediately ordered "Life in Cartoon Motion" online. I then shared the Mika love with my college friends and they, in turn, bought their own copies of the album as well! I have yet to even see one Mika concert in person, but I'm hoping to do so someday. Here's the ironic part: it wasn't until I left France that Mika started touring all over Europe!

Sheep_Girl Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Thank you, everyone! I feel welcomed already. I'll be sure to be a nice sheep and not say too many naughty (or chickeny ) things. @ Laura: Ja, ja. Vamos a ver si el segundo album despertara mi pueblo para que el famoso Mika venga por aca. Yo soy de descendencia cubana-colombiana (tremenda mezcla, no?). @ Mary: I loooooooooove Shaun the Sheep! I'm probably the only American for miles that does. I recently bought a DVD of the new T.V. shorts of the show. All righty, everyone, I'm gonna see what I can do to personalize my settings to give myself some more character! Ciao for now!
