Hi there girls and boys

I'm new here and I become a Mika big fan not so long ago (ok for 2 days). Before that I was a casual fan and I got both albums but I just considered him a good good artist but I didn't name myself as a "follower" :teehee: what changed me was the Vienna concert I've been to, I have to say it's one of the best concert of my life (and I've been to quite a few of other people) and totally fell in love with Mika :blush-anim-cl:

I'm a girl, born in 1992 in Vietnam, currently studying in Vienna, Austria

My road to discover Mika: randomly saw Grace Kelly on TV ---> Elton John talked good about him ---> went check out Live In Cartoon Motion ---> ---> but after a while I forgot him ---> read Brian May's soapbox ---> remember Mika again ---> got The Boy Who Knew Too Much ---> like him a lot ---> concert ---> total fan :biggrin2:

And when you read the thing above you've already found out I'm an Eltonite and a Queenie :blush-anim-cl: Been to Elton twice (and two more this June) but never had the chance to see Queen because they came here in 2008 when I was not a huge fan *hit head on the wall and feel the regret for the rest of her life and hope somehow they'd tour again* I'm also a huge Bon Jovi fan and hair rock/glam rock in general

My little accomplishment for Mika: stood up for him when there are some people who have doubts about him in the Elton John community. Actually when I showed them Mika's live vids they are hooked too, they just didn't like Mika because of the studio version of the songs which have a bit too much synth and a bit too "pop-dance", but now they know what the "real thing" is :biggrin2:

Hope I can join in the community ^^

Hello there guylainem123, wow you've been to 2 Elton John concert, that's awesome. My first one was only in 2008 and it took me 3+ years of being a fan to finally got to see him, but that first one was kinda free :naughty:

Hi LadyLivs, thanks for your compliment ^^

Did they think the same about LICM, too? they have a point with TBWKTM (on some songs) but no synth overload on LICM at all.

btw, :welcomeani:

Elton is not so vocal about Mika like Brian May does, but he loves plugging in names of young artists that he likes in interviews, when you just read it once you don't notice those names much, but when you read about 2+ different interviews you'll totally get that he digs that certain artists. Elton doesn't talk about untalented artist that enthusiastically so normally he's my music guide since his range of listening is so damn wide and he has good ears. I remember in one interview they asked him about young British talents and he said something along the line "We are lucky we got talented youngster like Mika"

The bad thing about it is that they only get things like Relax, Take It Easy from the radio and it gives them the impression that Mika does dance music. But when I give them songs like Any Other World (especially the live version where Mika plays piano) or Happy Ending etc they love them. Moreover the string arranger for Live In Cartoon Motion is Paul Buckmaster who is a legend in the Elton John fandom. Ask a real Eltonite who Paul is and they can totally tell you he's like the best arranger ever or something :biggrin2: Paul was one of the main components of those great albums of Elton (there are stories about Elton turned down the great Sir George Martin, producer of The Beatles and took in Gus Dugeon, who later also become a huge producer, because Sir George wanted to use another arranger but not Paul) That's why when they hear Paul Buckmaster arranging that debut album for a total new stranger then that guy MUST have some talent :wink2:

btw, :welcomeani:

Thanks
