Yaayyy another Californian! Socal, San Diego to be exact, I live a couple hours from L.A and I can't drive yet but I would so ride a bus for two hours to see Mika, despite my hate for public transit...anything for Mika lol.

ah, San Diego. Thats cool. I've only been to SD once. It was for a family reunion in Chula Vista so i pretty much only saw the hotel :sneaky2:...oh and the USS Midway. :aah:

Yay, west side! West side rules!

*does a little cheer*

Any Washingtonians are free to look me up - the only Mika fans I have to hang with over here are my oldest daughter and my grandson, and since I'm moving to the Seattle area at the end of July, I'm not going to be around them any more.

We actually have one of the best (if not THE best) zoo in the country, a huge local music scene, and the COOLEST independent record store downtown...

I'm sure it's lovely, my friends.

You have no idea how many people wisecrack about where I live, and Starbucks, and Microsoft, and Seattle's eternal rain, and assume the whole state is like that. Couldn't be further from the truth. There's a lot of great stuff here!

We will be passing through Nebraska this summer. We are staying the night in North Platte, and we will visit the train yard for my train mad son. We were briefly in NB last summer during our Mt. Rushmore vacation. I wanted to say I'd been to another new state, so after visiting the Mammoth Museum in Hot Springs, we drove the 20ish miles to the border. A big thunderstorm was brewing, and the lightning over the hills was very memorable. My husband was freaking out, so we crossed the border, I hopped out briefly, and then we headed back. It was very surreal. This creepy little casino all by itself. I'm looking forward to spending more time there this summer.

I believe it. For some reason it was much scarier than a Wisconsin thunderstorm. Snowstorms must be epic!

As a born and raised Minnesotan, NO, Nebraska winters aren't as epic as you would think. I was amazed how different winter is here. We could get dumped on and a week later it's melted off. OR it's -30 with no snow on the ground.

Everyone is at the outer edges of the country, except Nebraska...:naughty:

I'm proud Montana is represented but I think I am the only Mika fan in the entire state of Montana! A lot of my friends and co-workers say they like his music but they aren't a hard-core fan like I am.

My oldest son lives in Lincoln NE so we know Nebraska very well. At least 2 to 3 times a year we make the 850 mile trek (one way) to Lincoln. We usually drive. We drive different ways sometimes going through South Dakota, sometimes driving through Wyoming. Long stretches of road with a town every once in a while. Kinda like Montana!

Are you in western or eastern Montana? I'm still in eastern Washington for a bit yet...

I live in south eastern Montana. We live near to one of the entrances to Yellowstone Park. I live on the plains side of the state. Not too far from mountains. My ancestors settled here before Montana was a state so I come from a long line of Montanans. Cowboys, ranchers and farmers.

Too bad you're so far over that way.

I'm in Spokane.

Part of my mom's family has been in this area since 1878, both here in WA and in ID (where I was born). We're quite a rag-tag bunch and there is no one career path anyone has taken. I saw that you've been to Seattle for shows. If they happen there again, maybe we can meet up!

That would be awesome if Mika would play in Seattle again. My friend and I drove all the way there. We spent a couple days exploring the city. The concert was amazing, it was the first time I had seen Mika live. It was so worth the drive.

Spokane is a little ways away but when you live in Montana every place is far away! Spokane is a nice place. A few years ago I visited a friend for a couple of days there and we had a great time.

I lived over there for five years, moved back here in '98, thanks to crossed wires between my now-ex and me. Looking forward to going back!

Wish I'd known about the shows (Seattle, then Portland) but even if I had, at the times they were, I couldn't have afforded to go, anyway...

  • 4 weeks later...

I just wanted to post about my trip last week.

The 'kids' and I went to Chicago to see Queen + Adam Lambert. I could go on and on about it, but I'll just touch on a few points.

Great trip, GREAT show, better seats than expected, took a LOT of pictures...

But when I got home and watched several videos from the show I saw this...

Those are my 'kids' and myself in the audience enjoying ourselves WAY too much...

After the show, my daughter tweeted at Brian May about the show AND HE REPLIED!

That's awesome! Both about the screen shot and Brian May! I would love to see that show, actually -- as big of a Queen fan as I was, I never got to see them live while Freddie was still around. I love Adam Lambert, and I'm sure he's doing an amazing job. I've seen a few videos.

So glad you had such fun! Where's the rest of that video, btw?

I'm a huge fan (obviously). I've seen Queen with Freddie once, with Paul Rodgers once, and now with Adam. I've also seen Brian solo once and met him after the show.

The screen cap has the user name for the YouTube account in the bottom right, Edwin4NOH8, plus the title at the top. He only recorded the songs Adam sang so he didn't post a few songs the were just Brian or Roger playing or singing, but you can find those all over YouTube.

Totally awesome, my friend! :huglove:

I have been a raging Queeniac/Taylorette since '78, and like Deb, never got to see them live. I'd love to have gone to a show this year, but the closest ones were in Canada and it would have taken me too long to get a passport, plus funds were prohibitive at the time...

So yeah, I'm looking at all of this and WOW! Way to go, Dr. Brimi!
