Statue_of_Liberty
Do you get anything more? This what I have so far: It's not the cowboys that are missing anymore. That problem was already old in '94. Don't be offended this might seem a little wrong: Where have all the gay guys gone? To all the heroes... To that romance that... I was hoping that(?) one day I could be someone. Where have all the gay guys gone? Chorus: If we are all in the gutter It doesn't change who we are 'Cause someone of us in the gutter Are looking up at the stars. Tell me |: Where are all the good guys? Where are all the good guys? Where have all the good guys gone? :| Thank you Rufus, Autin(??? or Ortwin?) and James Dean, Thank you Emerson and Bowie for my dreams. ??? , ???, Kinsey and Rambo. Thank you for ???(?), ??? and Cocteau. Chorus Chorus It's not the cowboys that are missing anymore, That problem was already old in '94. stelly78
I hope some of those popular guys are still alive and might take notice of the song, along with their fans or friends.I can't wait to hear the whole song. It has the potential to be a huge hit, from the bit I've heard of it, from the X Factor performance. Yeah I'm totally agree, many times I heard people said that it will be a perfect single And yet we don't know the full album version, so we still have a full other part to discover @Statue_Of_Liberty Aww thanks a lot for the lyrics!!! Don't worry I was thinking the same when the first time I saw this sentence wrote everywhere XD But today when I was listening to the 3rd time at the song, and reading some stuffs about it here I suddendly realized that he's serious I guess Mika was very inspired when he was writing the song, I'm curious to know how that lyrics came up to his mind, but I agree with Emeline he must be a GENIUS
RAK1
He definitely named checked some authors. I think Cocteau was one. Hopefully he'll play it again tmrw so we can catch more EDIT: he also mentioned Bowie, Whitman, and Rimbaud I thought I heard Wilfred Owens name mentioned, he is a WW1 poet. Statue_of_Liberty
I thought I heard Wilfred Owens name mentioned, he is a WW1 poet. I'm kind of relieved you all understood Rimbaud and not Rambo - that would have been weird! Also he doesn't sing 'batman'. I listened carefully last night and nope, that was something different! And I got the first part completed now I THINK (not quite sure about everything): ... To the heroes when I was 14 years old, To that romance that was dressed up in gold. Only hoping that one day I could be so bold.

DerMoment1608
I changed it to Wilfried Owen and Rimbaud and added Whitman (→ Walter Whitman). And maybe it's Porter in the last line, for Cole Porter? Thank you Rufus, thank you Autin (??? or Ortwin?) and James Dean, Thank you Emerson [Who should that be? I think it's someone else] and Bowie for my dreams. Wilfred Owen, Kinsey, Whitman and Rimbaud. Thank you [i'd rather say it's a name than "for"] ???, thank you ???, [Porter???] and Cocteau. mellody
so here's what we have, i updated it in the first post: It's not the cowboys that are missing anymore. That problem was already old in '94. Don't be offended this might seem a little wrong Where have all the gay guys gone? To the heroes when I was 14 years old, To that romance that was dressed up in gold. Only hoping one day I could be so bold. Where have all the gay guys gone? Don't be offended, this might seem a little wrong Where have all the gay guys gone? i understand "thank you all", but it could be a name too. the missing name sounds like " patience". any other ideas about that 2nd verse? Yes, it does sound like it, but than I thought that it doesn't make much sense from a structure point of view, why thank them all and than name again two examples? And I'm not totally convinced with the "dressed up in gold" Edit: I hear a syllable more. Maybe "dressed up in a coat" or "dressed up in a colt" (because of the cowboy references)???? Thank you [i'd rather say it's a name than "for"] ???, thank you ???, [Porter???] and Cocteau. or keith emerson from emerson lake & palmer? Obviously, Mika's listing notable bi/gay men -- poets and other artists -- who had some influence on him growing up. So I believe it's Auden, as in the poet W. H. Auden. And Emerson must be Ralph Waldo Emerson. And Porter, Cole Porter. Whitman, Walt Whitman. And thank you to whoever figured out it was Rimbaud, because I kept hearing RAMBO, too! But that last line sounds like, "Thank you all, thank you patience, Porter and Cocteau." Which could make sense, in that he had to be patient to become the person he became. I can't think of what name that could be. I'll just have to keep listening.

I read Rimbaud's A Season In Hell a few years ago but wasn't sure how to say his name until i started learning french, otherwise i wouldve thought Mika was singing about Rambo too Also Bowie
