Thanks to Auntie Google I've read the interview in English. I'm sort-of understanding what the "Staging Project" might be now. He's going to create a show using his experience in theatre and opera with a story to it. Something new around songs from all 4 albums. Should be great to see it.

Exciting!  Maybe my hope for a "Mika Musical" is about to become reality. :D

I think he talks about this tour when he says that, doesn't he? :dunno: i still hope the staging project will be sth new.

Me too, however, I get the feeling this is what he's talking about. He's going to do a story with a beginning, middle and end. What I'm hoping for the new show is that it will catch the imagination of any press or critics who see it, hopefully, in the UK and elsewhere. If it is something completely different it could create kudos for Mika, and who knows what could come next.

Vous revenez avec votre nouvel album, « No Place in Heaven ». Une façon pour vous de vous exprimer…

Absolument.

Oui, ça me ressemble, bien sûr.

Here is the translation:

MIKA AT ZENITH on October 9

Interview with Mika before his coming to Nancy.

You return with your new album, "No Place in Heaven." One way for you to express yourself ...

Absolutely. That, that really don’t change. At least not for now. When I write, when I compose, it's as/like if I was transparent. I have the courage to write the things I can‘t do or say in my normal life. I can even explore things that bother me and most importantly, it helps me manage my life! So, when I write, I feel better. It's a funny feeling but I think everybody has it in common. It gives a sense of value. It becomes very easily addictive ( or one becomes/we become very easily addicted) ......

Is this feeling and this need that pushed you to release (or bring out) your first album in 2007. An album in which you tackle (/address) social issues ...

In fact, these are subjects that are part of my life. These are not topics I have chosen, like that, at random. But subjects that I must manage, I have to understand and dear to my heart. When I write, I have the feeling to press "pause" and stop the time. And when you look at my albums, you can follow/see the changes in my life. In the second, you feel the fear of having too much shared; in the third, these are difficult times, painful. In the fourth, we're like the third after the storm, as if the things are beginning to reopen. Yes, I admit that my albums are a reflection of my life, with its good and bad times.

A creative process that helps you, obviously, to overcome hardship (/adversity/difficulties) ...

Yes that's it. And I know that can do that is a privilege. When you grow up in a family like mine, with the eastern side and the inherited shame, if we talk about our lives, our work, it's as if they washed our dirty linen in public. When in fact this is not true, it's an important thing, we must do so without shame. Younger, when I sang songs written by others I was disappointed, my voice was too particular, it was not working. The result is that (/as a result/because of that) I wrote my own compositions and it helped me, I can write and sing about what I want. That opened something more important.

Whatever happens, you project the image of a happy/ joyful person. What we find, in fact(/indeed/for that matter), in your melodies and your videos ... The Mika style/touch?

I don’t see it like that, like a brand/mark. When I'm angry, I express it as honestly as when I'm happy! I smile only when I feel free... Being free is what gives me the most joy ... I think the job that I have today is an enormous privilege because I feel free. And I think it softened me. I have a loaded agenda four times than before but my heart is four times lighter! I don’t waste my energy.

A busy schedule in which appears The Voice. A program in which you express this freedom too. Does this participation brings you something more from an artistic point of view?

Yes absolutely. And people who say this is not true are liars. Those claiming that participate in such a program is not powerful, are lying. It's both powerful and extremely hard. If I had done it five years ago, it would not have been good for me because I wasn’t ready. Television is revealing. We enter in the living room of the people, we are a part of their family once a week. It's a crazy thing! And there, we must have nothing to hide (you should have nothing to hide). For me, my public life has completely exceeded(overtook) the evolution of my private life. And I had to join the two/make the two meet. The Voice, which is a program where we talk a lot, allowed me to show who I was in the private/personal life. That, it simplifies my life.

Your entry in the program has been sensational since it’s one of your talents, Kendji Girac, who you quickly spotted, who won the third season ...

In the words of my roots, Inshallah, God willing. When you see someone like Kendji, his history, his journey, this kid who suffered discrimination at school, which wasn’t educated like the others and who didn’t have the same opportunities, and who found himself there, alone, singing ... I'm the only one to turn around, when I hear/listen to the clash between French pop music, his culture and the sound of his voice, I didn’t know if he was old or if he was young. And I take that risk ... I think it was written. I am only a part of his history.

A clash of cultures/culture shock which looks like you and on which you also play…

Yes, that/it looks like me, of course. And as a general rule, we are always attracted (drawn to/interested) by what looks like us emotionally.

In parallel (/at the same time/alongside) to all this, you work, in particular, with Christian Louboutin ... Do you work in the same way in fashion?

I hate fashion! There is nothing worse! In my life, I had to see two fashion shows. It's such a violent industry, where there are monsters! They are the worst! In this environment, I always worked with people who wanted to work with me. People who look at/to that/it rather (more) like of the style, who tell stories. Christian Louboutin is like that. He’s an iconic French figure. He’s a mixture of "high class" and "low class" ... Someone who loves art, music, who is very intelligent/smart ... but who is mostly very simple, who comes from the earth.

To return to the music, in what state of mind are you before attacking the large/big theatres/halls?

We started and tested the tour in Asia and in the United States where we had much more success than we expected. It worked very well. Now, in September, we officially start in Europe with the new show. It means that we will return to Asia, the United States, before going to South America. It has become much more than a European tour!

What the audience will see in this new show?

A staged show with a beginning, a middle and an end. With, visually, a path/way. There is a concept, a story that comes from my roots, from the theater, from the opera, in the context of my songs. This is a selection of tracks/songs from the four albums framed in a story that explains who I am. It’s a rich show in which you can lose yourself ... That's my goal. I created something that provokes wonder, whatever is his age. This is super important to me. And I don’t do/make it with leds, with huge screens but with things that are done by hand, very simple techniques that provoke some emotion.

We feel that you are just as impatient as you were at your debut (the beginning or start of your career)!

Very much so ! I'm at 100%. I am impatient, I am hungry! To create and to build a kind of parallel reality gives me a strength and an incredible desire! It is an impatience that, at the end, is going to eat me!

Mika will be performing at Zenith Nancy Friday, October 9th.

Thank you so much for translating :flowers2:

Super excited about these two answers. I hope he is serious with the tour part continuing after Europe, would be so wonderful!! Also, the new show sounds like a totally new project and something different than earlier. Can't wait to see it

Thank you for the transation! So think the tour should be extended to early next year.... seeing his '15 schedule book is full of European tour and X factor and Swatch and musicals......

1 h 50 de show
