E a qualche mese di distanza da quella esplosiva esibizione, il cantante torna in Puglia. Anzi, la sceglie come prima data del suo tour italiano, fermandosi il 24 giugno alla Banchina San Domenico di Molfetta. Musica e impegno vanno sempre a braccetto, per lui. Da quella prima "Grace Kelly" che era una dichiarazione d'intenti all'ultima "Hurts", che parla chiaramente di bullismo - è inserita nella colonna sonora di "Un bacio" di Ivan Cotroneo -Mika prende posizione. E lo fa anche a proposito della strage di Orlando, 49 vittime in un locale gay.
 
Mika, le parole feriscono, come canta in "Hurts", ma a Orlando è successo di peggio.
 
"È disgustoso ed è tristissimo pensare alle persone attaccate e alle loro famiglie, all'effetto sulla comunità Lgbt in Florida e nel mondo. E di fronte a fatti del genere dobbiamo reagire. La prima cosa per farlo bene è avviare una discussione, una conversazione sull'uguaglianza. Perché l'intolleranza ha conseguenze devastanti. Anche se credo che le generazioni future sapranno essere più tolleranti di noi, come noi lo siamo rispetto a quelle passate".

Quanto è importante di fronte a queste tragedie che un artista si schieri? Lei lo ha fatto tempo fa, dopo gli attacchi omofobi sui poster del suo tour a Firenze.
 
"Non bisogna mai avere paura di esprimersi, è essenziale. Non importa essere un artista o una persona pubblica, devi farlo anche se sei a scuola o in ufficio. Bisogna prendersi il rischio di esprimersi. Quando sono stato attaccato a Firenze non ho reagito immediatamente, vedevo le foto su Twitter e Instagram dei miei fan. Mi sentivo arrabbiato e anche imbarazzato, devo ammettere. Ma è quello che è successo dopo che è stato importante ".
 
Cosa è accaduto?
 
"I miei fan erano arrabbiati con me perché non avevo parlato, avevo dimenticato il ragazzo che sono stato a 14 anni, quando a scuola non sapevo come andare da una parte all'altra del cortile senza essere picchiato, insultato, senza ricevere oggetti scagliati in testa. Veniamo alla Puglia, l'ha conquistata dal palco del Petruzzelli.
 
"Ho ricordi molto speciali di quella serata, è stato uno dei più bei teatri dove ho cantato nella mia vita, ha un'apertura di palco bellissima. Mi ha permesso di fare lo spettacolo che ho sempre sognato, ossessionato come sono dalle riprese di Jacques Brel, che ha iniziato davanti alle tende raccontando le sue storie e le sue esperienze. È qualcosa che capita solo grazie a un luogo come un bel teatro, ed è stato divertente per me giocare con questa dinamica. Mi ha ispirato lo show a Bercy di qualche settimana fa, davanti a 16mila persone. Sono riuscito a creare una dinamica molto intima con il pubblico, dedicando anche una lettera d'amore a Parigi dopo gli attacchi di novembre".
 
E invece cosa farà con questo tour?
 
"Ha una scenografia bella, ma la setlist cambia ogni sera e posso cambiarla anche durante il concerto, per sentirmi libero di provocare la massima energia. Sarà diverso, e visto che a Molfetta sarà sul mare vuol dire che mi adatterò a lui".
 
L'esperienza a X Factor si è conclusa. Ora si dedica solo alla musica?

"Il tour è una conseguenza diretta del fatto che non faccio più X Factor. Cerco sempre delle cose per farmi paura, perché la paura provoca la creatività. Non voglio mai essere troppo comodo. E non sono un giudice, ma un musicista che cerca sempre una sfida".

Apparently Mika's gonna have 4 episodes of his own show on Italian national TV starting next November. Not much more has been said, but that's the same channel that's also gonna broadcast Bercy gig in November, it might be a clue. Maybe that's why he turned down X Factor

:) Congratz to all Italiens fans!  :wub:  Imo, this happens as a result of the XF :)  Italy has got to know MIKA, and all his skills, because of his job as a judge there.  They believe in him, and now he's given the opportunity to make his own show  :thumb_yello:  It's fantastic, and surely also well deserved - I do hope it will be a BIG success!  :wink2: If only more countries could understand what a special person MIKA is... ;)  :wub:

Gli esordi da ragazzo prodigio alla Royal Opera House di Londra; la pubblicazione del singolo “Grace Kelly” che ha dato il via alla sua scalata al successo; la musica come alternativa nata dai problemi di dislessia che ne avevano compromesso l'andamento scolastico, diventata poi filo conduttore della sua vita.

 

Il cantautore libanese naturalizzato britannico Mika, al secolo Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr, farà tappa il prossimo 30 luglio all'Arena La Civitella di Chieti con il suo tour mondiale. I biglietti per assistere allo show sono disponibili su circuiti TicketOne e CiaoTickets a partire da 46 euro. Organizzazione Best Eventi. Il Centro lo ha raggiunto al telefono a Londra. Ecco cosa ci ha raccontato.

 

Mika, che cosa le piace dell’Italia?

 

E' un Paese è incredibile perché ha tantissime facce e culture.

C'è un po' di tutto, c'è sempre qualcosa da scoprire; per me è una cosa affascinante.

Mi ritrovo in questo mix e mi piace tanto.

In Italia ho fatto diversi progetti, ma mai un vero tour come negli altri Paesi.

Ho colto questa opportunità, anche perché non sono più impegnato con "X Factor".

In Abruzzo sono stato solo in macchina, di passaggio. Sarà l'occasione per scoprire ancora di più dell'Italia.

 

Primo giudice internazionale di un talent italiano. A X Factor Italia è rimasto per tre edizioni. Com'è stato sedersi dall'altro lato?

 

Il rapporto con i cantanti è stata la cosa più bella di tutta questa esperienza.

Lavorare con le persone è stato molto divertente.

Il meccanismo del talent era un po' duro per me, l'ho trovato un po' crudele; ma lo show in Italia è bello perché è imprevedibile, non programmato.

Ora, però, era arrivato il tempo di cambiare.

 

In Italia sempre più giovani aspiranti artisti tentano la strada del talent show. Cosa ne pensa di questa scelta? Secondo lei nel nostro Paese è più difficile far carriera come cantanti rispetto ad altre realtà?

 

Sicuramente il mercato è molto più grande quando si canta in inglese.

Quando si canta solo in italiano è più complicato.

Ma quando si ha questa voglia dentro di sé è importante provare a trovare la strada giusta, in qualsiasi modo.

In questi ultimi anni grazie ai talent ci sono tanti artisti che hanno avuto l'opportunità di affermarsi e non è una cosa negativa.

Pensiamo a Marco Mengoni, che ha fatto una bellissima carriera.

C'è sempre bisogno di essere lanciati in qualche modo, è importante cogliere tutte le opportunità che la vita presenta.

L'inizio non conta, conta quello che fai e dimostri dopo, come ti gestisci e come lavori.

 

La dislessia e gli esordi artistici. Quanto l'ha aiutata la musica e cosa ha rappresentato per la sua vita?

 

Se devo essere onesto, non era ciò che volevo fare all'inizio.

Sono stato cacciato da scuola quando avevo 9 anni e mia madre mi ha spronato a dedicarmi alla musica.

Dopo pochi mesi cantavo alla Royal Opera House di Londra.

La musica mi ha dato tanto: il senso di disciplina, la creatività; mi ha permesso di crearmi un'identità, incontrando diverse culture.
